...you are learning 2 or more dead languages, and you are learning them to help you understand other languages better. (For example, learning Latin and Ancient French to help you better understand modern French sweatdrop ) domokun
...you know more French slang than English slang despite living in an English-speaking region for the past 10 years of your life. domokun

You know you're way to obsessed with Latin when...
You start talking about Latin during the 4th Harry Potter movie.... You get annoyed when a character in Harry Potter pronounces a Latin word wrong..
Both of these happened yesterday when I was at Harry Potter and Harry yelled Periculum the latin word for danger. And trust me...I am obsessed with Harry Potter..soo talking about latin during Harry Potter is a very bad thing...

And isn't it: per-I-cul-um? *guessing*

Proudly_Jewish ...you have 2 mother languages (it actually is possible to have more than 1 mother language eek ) and you speak both poorly because you spend too much time on certain other languages. domokun sweatdrop Which two. *jealous* Everyone in my family only speaks one language. The only people who SORTA know ANY language are my grandparents - because they took a crash course and go to Sweden every year (well, my grandfather. My grandmother now refuses to go o.O) This isn't a 'you know you're obsessed with languages when...' thing, since I know I'm not... yet. BUT: You become scared when you say "tres" and two people look at you like this: eek The short of it: Man only speaks Spanish (and maybe French, not that it mattered in the situation though). My mom only speaks English. She's attempting to ask where the three restaurants are. It's dark, so she can't show three fingers. Man starts getting confused (and is holding a gun *eep* (Cuban soldier on duty at the resort)) I finally say 'tres'. eek Man gets excited and starts pointing. We find restaurants. 4laugh

Russkaya Daemonus I'm too obsessed with foreign languages, most particularly, Russian. I love it. I speak it better than English sometimes. I can conjugate anything in it. I speak Russian sometimes and don't even realise it. Russian's a cool language to obsess over, though. Ya Tossiya lyublyu. Ya russki yazihk lyublyu. ROSSIYA UPRAVLAET', SUCHKI!!! domokun domokun Yeah, all I got out of that was "russki" (Russian language, I'm pretty sure) and "lyublyu", only because my Compsci teacher last year was a massive Tatu fan and we played Robot as the theme song when we drove our robot into the competition. rolleyes Russian just sounds cool... mrgreen

I just don't know what I'm saying. XP o.O I know a few people who are sorta like that (only Ukrainian instead of Russian) That's gotta mess you up on forms and stuff (I recall having to plug in "First language" a few times... just forget why...) I mean, what would you put?
