*Inch inch*
A-anno... Hello everyone ^^; I'm... so very awful at introducing myself, but... I'll try!

Er, I try my very best to be original, but I tend to always find that I fail horribly at it. I'd say about 75% (perhaps a slight overestimation) of my characters are sociopaths. Not all are killers, though. I have a fascination with abnormal psychology (and psychology in general), so I really enjoy slightly odd and "off" characters, especially the more intricate ones. I'm always striving to improve myself, but my fear of being a bother to anyone somewhat hinders me by keeping me away from trying new things. It's a miracle I mustered up the courage to apply to this guild! (And I'm incredibly relieved and honored to be accepted!)

My literacy level varies. I promise I will never post less than two paragraphs, but even that is usually below my average. I'd say that I typically strive for four paragraphs in semi-literate rps, but I've been able to manage 10-12 fairly consistently in some rps. It depends on the circumstances and who my character is interacting with, plus how much I have to go off of.

I tend to apologize a little too much (I've been told), so if it starts to get annoying, please let me know, and I'll try to stop! (After apologizing for apologizing, I'm sure).

I generally play males, despite being female, but I joined this guild in the hope that I would be able to push myself and improve on my variety and skills, so hopefully I'll be able to pick up the habit of playing both genders a bit more evenly.

Etto... I think that's about all. I live in California and obviously speak English, but I'm fascinated with learning languages, and I'm currently aiming to be at least trilingual. Got a bit of Spanish and Japanese in my vocabulary (you'll probably see it pop up when I'm hyper and speaking gibberish), but I hope to master both languages soon, and move on to German and/or Arabic. Or Sign Language, depending on what's available.

Ok, now that's all ^^;;

Haha, that was a great introduction ^^ You're pretty awesome, Loonamist! Welcome to the guild. : D As Cynthetic said before, we're pretty friendly, and we're glad to have you! It's also really great that you joined with the intention of bettering yourself as a writer. You have a great attitude towards improvement -- I like it! I hope we roleplay together sometime. You sound extremely interesting to rolepaly with (:

YAY, more people! A warm welcome to Loona, Helaku and Radio (sorry, abbreviating your names, but don't they sound good anyways?~)

If you all don't mind my asking, are there any special expectations that you have of the guild, like something you would like to do or see being done (as a RP topic, or any other suggestion) - I guess it's always good to have a sense of what people want to better accomodate them!
PostPosted: Thu Mar 17, 2011 3:37 pm

N-nya? O-oh! Thank you, hOBO-iSh! ^^;; I really appreciate that. Hai has told me about you and-- Ack! *Tackled*

Hallo Hai! ^^; *Huggles*

Erm... where was I? o-o
Ah, yes! And he showed me the rp you have! :3 Which is awesome, by the way. I really hope to try and send in a profile for application, but first I have to choose which character to send in, since I have two plus possibly another in the making. If that's alright ^^;

Oh my, SadistikMasochist! o.o You already know so much! I don't know if I could ever learn mandarin... it seems like it would be incredibly difficult >< I'd probably end up slaughtering the poor language....

And thank you, Cynthetic! I don't mind you abbreviating my name at all, personally :3 I usually go by Luna anyway. I don't have any expectations or preferences, but... I do have a question D: Is there any way to subscribe to guild threads? I've tried searching around, but it's either very well hidden, or I'm very oblivious. Or, quite possibly, both.

ha, I don't know too much, I learned french when I was little and the other two in grade 5 as extracurricular school activities. Mandarin's really fun, it's very pretty. You use tones (they look like accents in french) to change the pronounciations of certain words. It's very musical that way. The characters are a little tough but they're so beautiful when you learn how to write them properly. The culture's also very interesting n.n Because the Chinese have developed 'ping ying', it's really easy for english speakers to learn the words. Ping ying is a phonetic version using the tones and english letters. Some of the letters make different sounds than in english though to it's not like you could just read it by looking, you'd need someone to help you with pronounciation. A good example is that 'q' sounds like 'ch' and 'x' sounds like 'sh', oh and 'r' sounds like 'y' to 'ri' is actaully more like 'yi'. It's really fun XD I'm a little over enthusiastic about it n.n

To answer your question (just jumping in here), there isn't any way to subscribe that I know of.

I knew a little bit about Chinese pronunciation simply from life experiences, but that's really cool o.o Awesome! I just got my first Mandarin lesson! I'd probably mess up on the intonation involved, though. Or, at least, that's what I'm afraid I'd mess up on. It sounds like it'd be fun nonetheless! And, besides, enthusiasm is a good thing.

And thank you for answering my question :3 I hope I don't end up slipping up on posting when I manage to join an rp, but I'll be sure to try and check back often to see where there are new posts and what I need to check!

If you go to the guild's page, there's a section off to the side which show the guilds you're in. If you click Shattered Hearts once, the most recently posted in threads will show up beside it. I find that's the easiest way to keep track of everything. (If you didn't know that already >.> <.< >.> ). I had a fun Mandarin class today, we learned how to sing MoLiHua, a Chinese folk song. It's about Jasmine flowers n.n

Hello everyone! As the convenient label above my avatar indicates, I am Lord Urizen (although I’ll certainly accept any variations of the name including, but not limited to, just Lord, just Urizen, Lord Zen, Zen, and, if you really want to win bonus points, His Magnificence Supreme Emperor Urizen the First mrgreen ). I apologize for not introducing myself sooner after my induction, but I wanted to have the chance to read back through everyone else’s posts first and get a sense of how I might go about the task at hand. Also, I’d like to ask everyone’s forgiveness in advance if I end up being a bit overly long winded.

As far as personal bits and bobs go, I’m 20 years old, I live in Oregon (where I’m quite certain it hasn’t stopped raining since the cretaceous period), and I am a collegiate Senior on track to graduate next year with a degree in Political Science (along with a possible minor in economics). I write and, to a somewhat lesser extent, speak like a stereotypically stuffy old British gentleman from the 1800’s. I’ve even got a collection of canes, a few top hats, and a monocle to complete the image when it isn’t completely absurd to wear/use them (and occasionally even when it is 3nodding ). This also tends to combine with a persona that is reminiscent of stereotypical cartoon villains (who I always thought were brilliant when I was a lad). Anyway, I tend to be especially verbose when I’m first meeting people (as I’m so dutifully demonstrating now), but my mannerisms normalize a little bit as I get to know people. Also, despite the stodgy nature of my speech, I do try to be jovial and fun, although the success of my humble attempts at jokes is obviously for you all to determine as they appear.

As my major indicates I obviously enjoy discussing politics for a variety of reasons, not the least of which is my ambitious desire to claw my way into government and do battle with the various problems that are setting themselves up to ruin our generation if given half the chance. That said I have a very difficult time placing myself on the theoretical political spectrum, which makes certain things rather difficult. In fact, that’s a recurring theme in my character: I’m infuriatingly neutral and indecisive about a great many things. I can elaborate on the benefits and weaknesses on many sides of most arguments, and thus remain staunchly unwilling to throw my lot in with anyone. This moderate approach is quite sensible for some things (e.g. various political issues), and just plain unhelpful in others (e.g. choosing where to go for dinner sweatdrop ). This tendency also makes Like/Dislike lists an unusually fruitless exercise for me without descending into utterly worthless minutiae that would bore you all terribly even more than I probably already am.

As another noteworthy point, I consider myself quite strongly religious, and I enjoy talking about philosophy, theology, and spirituality at long, sanity-stretching lengths. I’ve studied every major world religion for some amount of time, and I greatly enjoy talking about things from any of their cosmologies or those of any other belief system. I’m actually a figure of some note in a small Middle Eastern religion that I’m sure nobody here has heard of (Manichean Ishmaelite). I’d be delighted to talk about any facet of the subject in some other venue if anyone’s curious, but I’m also quite happy to never utter a peep about it again if no one is.

My grand weakness hobby-wise is video games, of which I have at least 300-400 spanning from the Super Nintendo to the current generation of consoles. I enjoy talking about them at length in all manner of ways so, if there’s a video game that you’ve been dying to talk about, I’d be elated to prattle on about it with you. As far as music is concerned, my indecisiveness reigns once more. I’m quite certain that I like and dislike some songs of every genre that I’ve had the chance to hear. To be fair, however, my knowledge of music is dismally limited. Perhaps some of the more musically attuned among you (of which I understand there to be many) can enlighten this poor uncultured rube in that respect. biggrin Of course, the other hobby that commands my time is rping, which deserves its own paragraph given its special relevance to the guild.

As far as that is concerned, I’m pleased to say that I’ve managed quite the range of characters in my roleplaying time (which has been about 3 years or so). There is a theme that arises quite often, however, and I imagine that it’ll continue to do so. Namely that I nearly always develop obtusely long winded and complex schemes (which can serve the function of a noteworthy subplot or even a main plot depending on the setting). The natural outpouring of this is that I often have devious characters that are the primary instigators and maintainers of these plans, and they are often accompanied by other characters that I create who serve as agents of it (this has taken a fair few forms, though). This specialization tends to serve me rather well in concocting major villains and some subordinates for them. I will note, however, that I always make an effort to ask players about characters, get their opinions on things, sync with their own grand plans, and certainly ask their permission before plotting anything too dramatic with their characters. It has not been a problem before, but if anyone feels that I am overstepping my bounds, you need only tell me and I’ll redesign everything to accommodate such a sentiment, as I have no intention whatsoever of ruining anyone’s fun. On top of that, a simple action that I don’t expect on the part of players can send me back to the drawing board rather quickly, a perfect example of the dynamism that makes rps great. Anyway, I also tend to have a lot of politically oriented and/or aristocratic characters. I have nevertheless made a good number of characters that speak normally, have no grand schemes, and are otherwise quite different from the specialties I’ve outlined. Character designs are something that I adore talking about, so I’d jump at the chance to hear about any of your characters or to discuss some of my own constructions. Also, because of my tendency to plan ahead, you can all expect me to send copious pms at some point in order to clarify things for my purposes.

In the realm of mechanics, I rarely fall below 800 words or so, and I tend to end up at a realm that’s slightly above 1,000 in most average posts. My formulations have a tendency to mirror those that I’m responding to, meaning that they can become much more grandiose in size (although their qualitative success will be for those who lack my obvious bias to decide) if I’m responding to one of such grandeur, as I’m sure I will in many of this guild’s rps. I tend to respond to posts every other day if I’m not too bogged down, and I may occasionally manage daily responses if I’ve got an especially free schedule. Allow me to apologize in advance if I fall short of this projection in responding to any of your posts. Such delays do happen more than I'd like.

And with that, I think I’ve addressed everything in a cursory manner. Any of you who actually endured my chatter for that long have already earned my gratitude. I assure you all that I won't be talking about myself anywhere near that much from now on. Also, I’d like to finish by noting how excited I am to be rping with all of you! I’ve been poking around the guild a bit before and after I joined, and I was amazed at the quality of ideas that I regularly saw exhibited. There is nothing that I enjoy more in rps than having my character designs and story plans interact with those of creative rpers like yourselves. I merely hope that I can keep up with you all and that I might glean some of your skill as we all roleplay together. I'll also try to be a bit less dry as we go. xp

Lord Urizen
