Kaien raised his head, but being elbow deep in paperwork required that he stay seated. "Please come in" was what he called out to whoever was on the other side of the door. Anna had been excellent at keeping up with the new students, so he doubted it was a student coming to him for anything more than a problem or question.

"We must be..." Pyralis answered Anna just as Arondis came walking down the hall. She had come to casually talk with Kaien and check up on how the students were faring. Each seemed supprised to see the other, but all quickly recovered. "Goodmorning mother."
"Goodmorning Pyralis. Ms.Annabelle, you are looking lovely today." She could only hope their relationship was still going well. It was about time her son found someone to take care of his heart and calm the inner beast.
"Ladies, shall we?" Opening the door for them both, he waited for Anna and Arondis to pass through before walking into the office himself and closing the door. "Good morning Mr. Sordeau. It seems we've all come to have a word with you."

Before entering the room, Anna bowed her head in gratitude to Arondis. "Thank you! You're looking just as wonderful as the last time we met." She walked into the office with the same bright look about her, smiling to Kaien either in apology for so many sudden guests or to disturbing him. She wasn't sure which.

"Ah!" Kaien said, hurridly shuffling his papers around so he could see them all properly. Important guests meant that he would feel no guilt about haphazardly stacking them and conveniently ignoring them for several hours. After all, there were social protocols to consider, weren't there?
"So, what brings such a large bunch to my office at one time? Surely the school isn't burning down...I'm afraid I would have smelled the smoke from here." He smiled in a good natured way as he gestured for them all to make themselves comfortable in the small seating area on the other side of the room. It was obviously a scholar's room, filled with books and curious diagrams, smelling faintly of coffee, stale pipe tobacco, and binding glue. His furniture was old, but comfortable, and placed in a square around a large dark wood coffee table. There were two sets of chairs and two small love seats, each upholstered in the same way.
Tea was already steaming on the table, having been placed there by some good natured employee while he was preoccupied with work. Kaien sat himself in one of the single chairs, and waited for the rest to find their own comfortable positions before looking expectantly at them.

Arondis sat first, positioning herself in a chair next to Kaien's. She smiled warmly. "I came to check up on the school and to make sure you hadn't drowned yourself in a sea paperwork. It seems I came to late." Laughter sparkled in her eyes. It was hard not to let the tedious paperwork of a school get stacked up when it was far from the most exciting thing to do while running a school.
Pyralis led Anna to one of the loveseats and then sat himself beside her. "I'm afraid I have more serious matters concerning the gate to discuss, but there's no need to delve straight into such unpleasant things." Out of all of them, Anna would be the one to start a lighter convorsation.

((aha! this dress, but in light purple. and no chickens, sadly.)) Anna gladly sat beside her dear dragon, but remained professional about it, refraining from holding his hand. It wouldn't do to be so forward about it, especially in front of the Headmaster and his own mother. With a warm laugh, she, too, offered a reason for being there. "Well, I came to see how you were fairing, to tell you that all the students who've come through seem to be doing well, and to suggest that we all meet, actually. And look, it's turned out already!" Anna took her cup of tea gratefully, as she hadn't had much breakfast before coming. "So, how are you all?"

Kaien chuckled. "Everyone is just checking up to make sure I'm not dead in here? Sounds like something the housekeeping does every now and then. They have that blasted fourty-eight hour rule...after fourty-eight hours if they haven't seen me, they come barging in - regardless of my state of affairs." He laughed again, crossing his legs casually. "You can imagine the shock it causes."
"All work and no play here, though. I'm interested to hear that two of my newest teachers are getting along well."

Arondis joined in the laughter and nodded to the couple on the couch. "Yes, you two seem quite famaliar with each other." She, too, decided to have a cup of tea.
Not letting anything slip until Anna gave him the go ahead, Pyralis merely smiled in a friendly manner and nodded. "We have spent some time together discussing matters of the school and students. Ms. Anna is most helpful when it comes to books." It was more difficult than he had thought it would be not to call her my Anna or A'mael.
"Is that all?" Grinning, she gave Kaien a look to help lead him along. Not that he needed it. The two could be as professional as they liked, but in the light-hearted atmosphere of the moment, it would be hard for them to keep a relationship under wraps. They were right under the headmaster's nose afterall.
"All that requires attention at the moment."

Despite the way Pyralis was going about it and how she wished to join, Anna's notorious blush burned across her cheeks. Helplessly she looked from the amused eyes of Arondis to the knowing smile of Kaien, and, finally relenting, looked down in smiling embarrassment. "Ooh..." she said, hand to her cheek. All she could muster was a soft laugh to Pyralis before looking away once more. So much for being professional.

This caused Kaien to laugh even harder, covering his mouth with his hand so it wouldn't seem so rude. His sources had reported the fact that they had been spending so much time together only days ago, but he'd come to the conclusion that they were more than just friendly acquaintances on his own. He waved a hand in a dismissive way to the two of them.
"Relax, relax. I'm not sure why it's such a grand secret. After all, we should be teaching our students that the best way to embrace diversity is through love, not conflict. Why on earth would we teach something we did not practice ourselves?" he was thinking, then, of all the young hormonal students on his campus. Some were human, many were not. What would happen when a human student and a non-human student became involved with one another? Perhaps that was an issue better discussed upon the event. Regardless, he was in full support of the new relationship growing in front of his eyes.

It's ok love. Now knowing that it was ok, Pyralis took Anna's hand and gave it a squeeze. "It wasn't such a secret as an unexpected occurance that we didn't want to be seen as a distraction, but I'm very glad for your view on the matter."
Arondis knew that it wouldn't be a problem, but it was still amusing to see the way they acted so shyly about their relationship in front of others. They would get over that soon enough. Though, judging by Anna's blush, it would take some time. Kaien had also been wise in his response. She was glad for the way he handled these matters.
For his love's sake, Pyralis decided to go ahead and make the subject change. "More importantly, the great secret of the school is the gate. What's the report on that?"
"It's no worse, but it's no better. Going through the gate leaves one with a strange feeling, but it remains safe to travel between the human realm and the rest. I have yet to encounter whatever escaped."
Nodding, he started to sift through his thoughts. He let his eyes go from each person as he spoke, making sure they were all in on this information to come. "I recently did some researching in the realms and may have found where the evil spirit that escaped the realms came from. We have been able to establish it's substantial nature, even in this realm, and I believe there are more than one of its kind. Thankfully, I believe any others of it remain in other realms. The problem is that they may be coming from Unnamed Realms."

I know, A'mael. What a relief that it's supported. And what a relief that they had the link between their minds, as Anna was still tongue-tied physically. Her hand remained in his as he spoke, though, and through the touch she gained her confidence back.
"Also, judging by the wounds it gave Pyralis, they are certainly willing to do more than poison dreams and give stomach aches. I would hate for a student to be caught unawares by one who wasn't as... well, for lack of a better word, playful as the one we encountered."

Kaien cringed. "Pyralis, I know your main function here isn't as an artist, but if you could have a sketch ready for me of exactly what you encountered, I may be able to identify it. For now, I suppose the only way to guard against further insurrections is to bolster the security at both of the Gateway checkpoints. I'll ensure that Gabe has all newcomers show the proper passports for entering the mortal realm. Arondis," He said, changing the direction of his gaze, "I'm relying upon you to guard the Realms side. Atlanthum seems to filter much of the rabble, but the stronger creatures may try again to force their way through the easiest passway."
He paused, thinking for a moment before adding another disturbing thought to the ones being discussed. "I have been considering that a new rip between the realms and the Mortal realm may have developed. A rip, as you know, is how all gates are formed. When a rip is widened, it allows more reliable passage between the realms. A rip is widened by movement through it. I have not considered a possible location as of yet, but as soon as I get some information I shall probably send some of the more senior Keystone students to investigate."

Pyralis inclined his head to Kaien. "I will do my best." He wasn't the most skilled artist, but he had had to draw sketches of creatures and items before for identification. It wasn't a new concept. Arondis inclined her head as well. "I'll still vigilent night and day." So she would too. Breaks were going to become scare in the coming days of guarding the gate, but it was necessary.
Giving Anna's hand a squeeze, the red-eyed male nodded. He had wondered about that, but it was still disturbing to hear.
That was far from what she wanted to hear. A new rip could spell disaster for many. She trusted Kaien and knew that he was one of the most powerful headmaster's the school had seen, but that didn't stop her from worrying. People had died to seal gates before. These were far from light matters. "A smart decision. Who would be up to the task?" Evangeline and Sebastian would be suitable, most likely.
((Sorry, last post for the night! Good night to you both.))

"I can think of very few students who I would ever ask to go. I do have a friend, though, an angel who came here as a guard. He might be willing, but he's very young... I'm not sure if he would understand just what he was doing." Sending her dark-winged friend would be like sending him to a possible death, and Anna was not prepared to be responsible for something like that.
"Myself, however, I would go to act as healer if things go awry. I won't have the dear ones hurt. Or anyone, for that matter."
