kolo was happy that he could find a way to stay awake. He walked over to his pack, and sort of sorted through his gear. He had some extra clothes, extra food for his journey, and a few of his favorite books. He grabbed all of his clothes, extra robes, headwraps, and boots, and walked over to the closet. He saw a few drawers, so he sorted his clothes in the empty ones, Headwrap on top, Torso robe in the middle, Outer leg robes and pants on separate sides of the bottom drawer. He laid his boots on the floor beside the drawers, thinking it was the best place for them to be.

Kolo was satisifed with how he organized his clothes, so decided that he would sort through his books. He walked back to his pack and saw his favorite books. A small smile spread across his lips as he read the titles. Some of them were children's stories, a sort of Asops fables type book, and others were novels. He looked around the small flat, and saw no shops. He decided then that he would place them on the floor, at a corner between ttwo of the walls. He organized them from order in which he got them. Therefore, his Fable book was first, and the rest followed.

Kolo knew that he would have to make some sgelves to store his books some day, but he would have to wait until he could, between classes, and before he went to bed. He walked back to his pack, and picked up the food, salted pork and peanuts. He knew he would have to eat the pork soon, or it would rot, so he looked to Shin. "Hey, can we eat this tomorrow?" He knew it weouldn't taste too good, salted pork never did, but it was worth the shot. He placed the pork in the cupboard, having no better place for it, then threw the loose peanuts into the trash, there weren't enough to even worry about. "So, Shin, what have you been doing since you got here?" He asked, having stowed all of his gear and pack in various places in the apartment.

Shin decided to clean up the dishes while Kolo got his things situated in the room. Just as he was drying off the last bowl, his cousin came back out after putting his things in respectable places. "Yea! Sounds good!" Shin said with a smile as he dried off his hands on a towel. "Well...." Shin started as he leaned against the counter. "I've been learning techniques, trying to pick a profession for being a shinobi... I still haven't figured out what type of shinobi I'm gonna be... I've been taking care of my squadmate," Shin explained, referring to Tanu of course and trying to keep her out of trouble. "There was a war here that I fought in... Well, I really didn't fight," Shin admitted as he scratched his nose. "I was kind of like the support," the Nara explained and them remembered what Yuki had told him at the exams. He really needed to brush up on his fighting skills otherwise he was going to be useless if he ever got cut off from Kiba and Tanu. "I think we should head to bed though. You look pretty tired!" Shin said to his cousin who had looked like he was sleep walking earlier. "I gotta get up in the morning and greet my squad leader," the older Nara said as he headed to the bedroom.

Kolo was excited to be with his cousin again. He looked at the bedroom, and saw one bed. "Hey, Shin? Where am I going to sleep? I can sleep on the couch if you want the bed." Kolo didn't particularly mind where he slept, as long as he could finally go to sleep. He was exhausted, and to think, tomorrow it would start all over again.

For the first time in his life, Shin had an easy time getting himself out of bed. The Nara was usually unmotivated to get out of bed in the morning and usually didn't wake until Tanu came pounding on his door. However, today was the day that he and his squad would be welcoming their squad leader back to the island as a chunin. Shin was more than excited, he was estatic! Remembering the lessons he had learned about teamwork yesterday and the advice that Yuki-sensei had given him, Shin was ready to improve himself and make a name for the Nara clan. After his conversation with Kolo last night, Shin was more than confident today. There weren't many higher ranking shinobi's that Shin could really speak with, but hopefully a bond like that with Kane could be created and the Yamanaka would help him in creating the shadow techniques that he and Kolo had thought up. First things were first though, Shin needed to practice his defensive and attacking skills like Yuki had told him. Shin, Kiba and Tanu were great when it came to teamwork. They all had their own individual strengths and in some odd way it all came together. After strapping on his shoes, Shin pulled out his Kunai. He would practice with the small ninja knife as he ran to the store to get some deep fried donuts to go with the salted pork that Kolo brought for breakfast.

[Forgot my Roll. sweatdrop First roll for last post.]
Slipping out the apartment quietly, Shin headed down the stairs, skipping the last four steps and landing on his feet. He twirled the Kunai around in his hand to make sure he had a sturdy grip on it. He had read stories where fighters had lost their weapons in battle, because their grip had been challenged by a heavy blow from an opponent. Shin only had one kunai, so keeping ahold of the kunai was an essential task. If he were to lose it, the only weapons he would have left would be shuriken and they were useless in close quarters combat. As Shin stepped out into the cool morning air, he could smell the fresh dew on the grass and siding of the buildings. The smells of spring were really something that he missed. The winter had been long and cold, making him catch a minor sinus infection and having to stay in bed. It seemed that Shin got sick every winter here in Shimagakure. The Nara didn't mind though, because it helped him expand his knowledge and sharpen his less physical skills. That was his problem though... Sharply turning the corner, Shin pretended as if someone had been waiting there to spring an attack on him. He twisted the kunai around in his hand to be prepared to jab the point of the knife in his attacker's abdomen, hoping to strike first before his attacker. With a silly grin on his face, Shin dropped his attack and walked casually towards the village where he would get those donuts.

Kolo new he had to wake up. But his dreams were so good. The romps of the previous day had worn him so so much that he wanted only to stay in bbed and sleep more. In fact, the idea was so good, that he didn't want to wake up, and continued to sleep. He rolled over onto his side, and threw his blanket over his head, hoping to block out the light leaking through the windows.

Kolo's sleep was the only thing that seemed good right now. He had been having sweet dreams about Akemi and himself. Only in his dreams, she had accepted the date, and he had taken to the most romantic, and free restaurant he could find. Akemi even laughed a few times, and didn't call him chew toy. Every time she winked, his heart fluttered, and he only wanted to stay in bed longer. His previous roll over landed his face facing the sun, so he rolled over again, and threw the blanket over his head again.

With two bags of fresh warm sugary donuts in his hands, Shin made his way back up the stairs to his apartment. As he walked in the door, the smell of the donuts filled the room with their sweet aroma. The steam was so tantalizing, but Shin had already sneaked a donut... or two in his mouth. With his chubby cheeks, Shin set one bag of donuts on the counter. He thought of going into the room and walking Kolo up so that he could have fresh donuts, but then again Kolo might want to sleep in more than eat fresh donuts. As Shin stuffed a third donut in his mouth, he fanned the steam towards the bedroom, hoping the smell would pull his cousin out of bed. As Shin waved his hand over the steam, he picked up a fourth donut and tossed it into the air. If was as smooth as he thought he was with the kunai, he could cut the donut in half. With his other hand ready to catch the donut halves, Shin tossed the scrumptious warm sweet up into the air. The sharp blade that had given him a little cut earlier cut through the donut. The halves weren't exactly even, but Shin had managed to cut a clean slice! Plopping one half into his mouth, Shin took his bag and sat on the couch.

Kolo could faintly smell some Donuts in the next room, but rather than get up, his dreams were plagued with giant donuts! He grabbed Akemi's hand, and ran out of the restaurant, their server became a giant evil dount. As they ran out of the door, they were met with an onslaught of more evil donuts. One of them even barked at them! Kolo was very scared, but when he looked at Akemi, he saw that she had turned into a giant evil donut as well. "Haven't you ever learned to avoid peer pressure?!" The boy exclaimed. He withdrew his hand from the pastry, and felt that it had become sticky. He ran and ran until he was onboard Bakalao's ship, headed for home.

It wasn't until after they had left the dock when Kolo could smell even more donuts. He had thought he had out ran them all. He looked around the ship, looking for Bakalao. All he found were donuuts, and not the good kind. He immediately jumoed ship, and swam for shore. This was one of the worst nightmares he had ever had, and he was unable to wake from it. Oh, how he wanted to wake. He wanted to eat the donuts.... Perfect idea!! Kolo walked around the shore, waiting for a donut to come and attack him. His stomach was empty, and his fork... wait, where did he get a fork? Oh, well. His for was in hand, and he was going to eat some mean donuts!

Kolo saw his first donut. He charged full long for the gooey pastry. His fork was on the leading end of this attack, and his stomach would be the trailing edge. He stabbed his fork into the donut, and began to devour the evil sugary dough. He didn't want to wake up now, his nightmare just got good. He continued to eat until he ate the whole donut. And because this is the world of sleep, his stomach emptied out without any waste, and he had a craving for more donuts.

Of course, whenever the dream gets good, it has to end, right? Well, that is what happened to our young hero. He was part way through his last donut, when he woke up, pillow in mouth. He had been eating the donuts, and with every new donut, he had his pillow. It had drool all over it. He stood up slowly, and walked over to the kitcen, where he saw his cousin, and donuts. 'Is this why Akemi and everyone else turned into donuts?' Kolo was indifferent to that idea as he began to eat his first real donut.
