Hazel smiled at the belch, fluttering over and extending a wing over Liam's back. She winked, hiccuped again, and took the rabbit's hind legs in her own feet. She quickly preened to be able to fly, then let out a near-mirror belch of Liam's. With a hoot of laughter, she nodded.
"Let's go, yes! Before this rabbit makes us -hic- burst!"

Liam extended a talon towards Hazel, laughing at her mimic job. "I must shake your talon, lady, for a performance best bested!" He chortled. "And it's not bursting I'm worried about, it's scaring off the rest of the rabbits! I've never had such a good time hunting!"

Hazel blushed but gladly took the claw. Being so unladylike...well, she was used to just herself. And Liam seemed to not mind. She brightened and shook the talon firmly.
"It takes a master to know one, yes?" She fluffed up, quite content. "Maybe we should get back before we DO scare them off, huh?"

Liam chortled, gripping the rabbit again and stretching for takeoff. "Come on, let's go back and share the bounty. By now, I'm pretty sure we have a story to rival Bracken's fish tale!" He smiled at Hazel again before looking up to check for obstacles. He was pleasantly surprised at how open she was being around him. He hadn't been friends with many females before, but Hazel was really great.

Hazel rolled her eyes at mention of Bracken. He was a good friend, but a bit odd. And she really doubted he'd caught a fish THAT big. Regardless she followed after Liam, watching the rabbit in case he lost his grip on it. Not that she'd be much help, lumbering thing that she was, so full of food.
Thorn will be right where we left him, no doubt. Brack had wind a tale so long even the Brigadier would give up on him."

The rabbit dangled from his talons as Liam flew with it. It was heavy, but not horribly so, and it slowed the flight down, which was nice. It meant more time with Hazel, after all. "I can just see it!" he giggled. He began to imitate Bracken. "And there I was, with a fish the size of a tree! Each scale was a masterpiece, starting with the first scale on its head! Lemme tell you..." He switched over to the Brigadier's voice, puffing his feathers. "That's very interesting, yes, yes, erm... Gasp! It appears to be a Spectre! I must go see! Here I go, watch me fly off into the underbrush!"

Hazel couldn't help but laugh. Liam imitated the Brigadier perfectly!
"Heh, you're better than Bracken! Better not do that around him, he might get jealous. Or worse, want you to teach him...or be his 'partner' in...whatever he does." Spending time with the larger bird really was a lot of fun, she decided. Something about Liam made her happy all of a sudden, and while usually she would have stopped to ponder this, she just shrugged it off and sped up to pull alongside him, offering a smile.

Something in her mentioning of the other male made Liam shrink a bit. "Hazel," he said, staring straight ahead. "I was going to ask you this later, after the festivities, but I think I want to do it now. I was wondering if... if you'd like to be my partner. And I don't mean in Minding the chicks of others... I meant in Minding my chicks. Your chicks. Um. Our chicks. Eventually. I've never met a female I felt as close to, and if I ever do, I'll always be comparing them to you. You don't have to give me an answer now... just... maybe... think about it while you're talking to Brack and the others... please?" He shut his eyes. It's too soon, he thought. I should have waited... We're friends and all, but I have no idea if she feels at all the same way. But... there was no way to take back his words.

Hazel perked up when Liam called her by name. Just something about his tone seemed...very serious. She listened intently, turning to face him as she realized what he was asking.
"Of course I'd like to be your...oh..." She quieted when he revealed he meant as something other than rearing the chicks he was watching. What could he mean then? "Our chicks..." The words were out of her beak a second after they were his, the full impact of this situation hitting her like a tree. She looked away, going as red as any sentinel could, seeming to focus solely on the path through the branches before her as they flew on, letting him continue to the end of his speech before saying anything. With a slow sigh, she slipped a little closer and began,
"Liam...I don't need to think about it." She turned to look at him, waiting for him to meet her eyes before going on, "Liam...there is nothing I would love more than to be your partner."

Woah. That wasn't the answer Liam was expecting! Startled, he nearly dropped the rabbit, faltering and smacking into a branch. Shaking it off, he swooped over right next to Hazel. "Really? Y' y' mean it? You don't want somebody, I dunno, flashier? I'm not much to look at, y'know, nothing like you and that white on your head... I'm just a Wildtype minder!" Taking a breath, he swallowed hard. "If you're sure, though... it's gonna break Roth's heart." He smiled at her. "And since the whole clan's here, it'll be a good time to announce it!" He felt warm inside, warmer than he had in a long time, a feeling compounded by the fact that she'd just flown into a tree for him. "By the way, are you okay, Hazel... dearest?" he asked, trying on the honorific for size.

Hazel couldn't help but smile when Liam bounced off the branch.
"Of course I mean it!" She would have put a wing over him if they hadn't been flying, feeling the need to assure him he was the one she wanted. She shook her head at his claims. "Nonsense! You're the most handsome Sentinel I've ever seen! And what does it matter you're a Wildtype? I know I love you, that's enough, right?" She barely missed a branch, but didn't care, too caught up in the moment.
"Yes...poor Roth. I hope he'll understand. I do like him, but he's a Skurri, obviously." She blushed, suddenly bashful, "Tell the clan?" The thought of it gave her a rush of pure joy. "I wonder what Thorn will say..." Unfortunately her thoughts were cut short by a tree. She toppled down to a branch, hurriedly shook herself, and flapped her way back to being at Liam's side. "I'm alright, thank you...love." She returned the honorific, beaming as bright as the moon itself.

Liam puffed up with pleasure. "Your love is all I could ever need. And Thorn, darling, is crazy about you. Haven't you noticed he never calls you 'Miss Hazel?' He only does that to Sentinels he considers family. And as for Roth... well... perhaps we can find you a female Skurri to gather with. Once he realizes that you're going to be around a lot more, he'll be just fine." He ducked a tree branch, snagging a few feathers. "Stupid trees! As soon as we get back, I'm dropping this rabbit in a public place and sitting down!"

As a crash landing, it was definitely unimpressive, but it did, surprisingly, make for an excellent distraction. Tousled landed right next to the food, on a spot just recently vacated by a Shadow sentinel that seemed to find the whole scene quite embarrassing. As she stuffed her little crafter's pouch with food -Oooh, skurri! - the ruffled sentinel could clearly hear the outraged verbal assault that poor Birch had to suffer.
Sticking berries and other very light stuff in between her feathers, Tousled glanced over at the bard and his fierce little assailant. Did he need help to extract himself from this situation, perhaps?

Where could she possibly be...
Silently frozen at the edge of the crowd, Orynn ruffled her brightly snowy feathers in a reasonless attempt to hide herself. Certainly, nobody was really staring at her - and even she realised that - but paranoia is known to be an irrational emotion. In such situations, she most often turned to her Parus for guidance, but without Twyll nearby she simply stood dumbstruck and confused. What to do next was a major decision, and decisions were never her strong point. Regardless, she mulled over it as sensibly as she could. She couldn't leave without her companion, after all, and continuing to remain where she was didn't seem like much of an idea.
Well, I am rather hungry, and I suppose that she'd tell me to "Enjoy, enjoy, enjoy," she mused, chuckling quietly at her emulation of Twyll's repetitive locution. Humourous or not, though, she knew that Twyll was right. Quickly agreeing before her social fears returned, she gathered up the rare smatterings of courage and ploughed towards the centre of the massive, jumping party.
It couldn't hurt to look for a meal...

Hazel clacked her beak, swooping in to snatch the rabbit from Liam. It was a little harder to fly, but it wasn't too bad, and she was happy to take the burden from him. They were almost there anyway.
"Why don't you go see if Thorn has had his ears talked off yet while I drop this off? I'll meet you in a minute or two, okay?" She waved him off with a flick of her head and darted away to turn the treat over to the gatherers.
