Faria nodded to Iris. "Oh, sure! I can carry those for you. No problem." She looked over at the baskets that the bright female had indicated. "Alright. Thanks. Now I've got something to do." She smiled and moved over to the pile of Iris' things. The black and green harpy took the two indicated baskets and secured it to herself snuggly, yet comfortably. Faria moved around a little to see how well her cargo was attached and to see if it pulled any feathers if she moved a certain way. Fortunately, it didn't and it moved with her.

Faria listened as Koda spoke of the weather conditions and the trip ahead. She had rested well so she felt that she ought to make it to where they were heading with little trouble. When the order was given to start the flight, Faria gave Iris' baskets one last check before taking to the sky as the others started to take off too. She wasn't exactly sure of the location of the colony, but she was a healthy female so she could manage.

Kit tried a few times to unsuccessfully ease the burden of some of the other young girls. Some of the older ones gave him appraising looks and knowingly kept their packs to themselves while the younger simply giggled. He gave up after a while and simply stood off to one side, occasionally stretching his wings the way he saw some of the others do in preparation for the long flight. He felt some anxiety... how long would they be flying? Would they have frequent breaks? He tried a few times to look for Makani but ad no luck among the press of females. When Koda gave the command he took off with the rest of the group.

A gray feathered youth poked about in the pack she carried while waiting for the lift command. She'd hoped no one would notice that she was packless... but that hadn't gone as planned. Se gave a dejected sigh and continued riffling through the pack to ease her boredom. Everyone was too busy to chat idly with her it seemed, it was Nynora's least favorite part of the journey.

When it seemed they were getting organized into groups Nynora quickly shut her pack and checked the straps half-heartedly, making a few minor adjustments. She fluffed for a moment to resettle her feathers over herself and the pack straps and noticed not Koda's signal, but that the other girls around her were taking flight and she followed.

With lightening speed Yakira caught up to Kit and silently handed him one of her feathers that had been blown loose the night before. The feather was of the purest white except for the touch of blood red that decorated the tip. “Safe flying!” She whispered quickly before u-turning in the air and flying back to perch on a tree so that she could watch them leave from a distance.

Moving around on one of the top branches of a bare tree to get more comfortable, Yakira finally settled. There she stood a lone silhouette in the background. Her mouth curved into a faint smile as she waved farewell before crossing her wings.

[[ Quick back-post. rofl ]]

Kit gave a belated "You too," to the empty air, he'd been shocked to receive one of Kira's feathers. And confused. Was it a sign among harpies or something? Friendship? A bargain? He'd have to ask later.

Iris thanked Faria graciously, and then took off with the rest of the group, flying near the party's head behind Koda.

Though Kitrio had no luck finding Makani, Makani had no problem finding him. Kit would suddenly find himself next to the brightly-colored male, and Mac would flash him a grin. "It's not too far back to the colony," he assured the other male. "Only an hour or two of flight, but if you need to stop, just say so and they'll stop for you. Iris and Koda will understand."

SNOW! Snow snow snow snow SNOW so white and fluffy and cold and amazing and COLD!

Finch hurtled through the cold soggy snow, leaping about on hands and talons leaving bursts of the white wet substance everywhere. Once she had satisfactorily trampled a good criss-crossing trail, she dove into a snow bank that had fallen from a cluster of rocks up above near by, to dig a little hole. It was only in this way her dark feathers didn't stand out against the pale ice.

Snooooooow! Kani was equally delighted with the presence of the fluffy white powder, and she tromped around the path Finch had so conveniently flattened out, occaisionally flopping into the cold white substance and making snow harpies with wings spread wide. And it was this position that allowed her to spot the approaching flock from their spot on the edges of the colony.

"Fiiiiiiiiinch!" she called, scrambling up and poking her head into her friend's makeshift burrow. "Fiiiiiinch! They came back! I can see Mama!"

((I didn't figure anybody would mind if we scooted time forward a bit to the point of their arrival. >_> If anybody has a problem with it though, feel free to say so. xd ))

[[ sweatdrop It would have helped if I hadn't taken so long... my bad. I'll re-type that to be a bit more appropriate, though now it gets to be more dramatic. wink ]]

A mix of pride and his own desire to see the harpie community had kept Kit as quiet as possible about his condition. Having been grounded for the most part of his life he had neither the strength nor the endurance to continue on much longer. He'd initially been setting pace with a group near the front but had slowly fallen back until he was taking the "rear guard" as he told himself so as not to become absorbed in self pity.

He was gasping, his wing beats were becoming irregular, and why was the ground suddenly closer? thwump

Faria had enjoyed the flight to the colony. She didn't really mind the weight of Iris' baskets and it felt nice to be with a group of her own kind again, especially with a familiar face in the crowd. They seemed like a decent bunch. If the Matriarch would have her, she would look forward to getting to know everyone a bit better. She held a position roughly in the middle of the group, sometimes moving forward or back depending on her energy and if she caught any hints of an air current.

Dipping a little lower to look ahead Faria could see signs of life at the center of the colony. She smiled and looked around at the harpies that where at her sides. The sound of gasping caught her ear, followed by a not so pleasant smacking sound. The black and green female looked back and the new male had dropped out of the sky. She gave a short startled hiss. She had noticed that gradually as they carried on, he slowly drop farther and farther back, but she hadn't realized he had been that out of sorts.

And as soon as the male landed, Kani would flail her way through the snow to his side, rolling him over should he have landed face first. "Are you okay?" she'd ask, attempting to help him back to his feet as best as a child could. "Fiiiiiinch c'mere! Come help!"

And Iris, in a fit of concern, would immeadiately dive down after the falling male. How foolish of them not to stop on such a long trip for at least one rest! Not everyone could be expected to fly as long as the Mountain girls. And if the Matriarch found that they'd found a male only to have him injured on the way home, well, safe to say she wouldn't be pleased.

"Kitrio!" she called, winging down to help her daughter straighten out the fiery male. "Kitrio are you alright? Kani?" She turned to the little violet and scarlet-feathered fledgling at her side.

Kani snapped to attention at her mother's voice. This was an emergency after all, and if she didn't pay attention, well, suffice to say it wouldn't do not to pay attention. "Yes Mama?" she waited patiently for the brightly-colored female's instructions.

"Kani, go find the healers for Mama alright? Tell them that it's important and that we need them here right away," she would pat the girl on the head then, and give her an encouraging shove off.

"Yes Mama!" Kani agreed, then darted off in the proper direction, dragging Finch after her if the other fledgling allowed herself to be dragged. If not, she would simply go off on her own way and fetch the healers. Far be it from her to disobey her mother.

And once the little harpy girl had darted off, Iris would attend to the male herself as best she could, attempting to help him to his feet. "Kitrio, are you alright? Does anything hurt?" Well, of course things were going to hurt. She should have asked if there was anything specific that was hurting. Well, the healers would catch it, hopefully.

As the stranger landed rather roughly, Finch gave a startled squawk and made to hide despite Iris's call. She intended to stay and spy when Kani suddenly took a hold of her wing, "Wait wait I wanna' see the stranger!!" She yelped, fluttering to try to pull free.

At first all Kit noticed was that the ground was cold! Stunned as he was by the fall he couldn't get his legs beneath himself until he had the help of a young girl. The numbing effect of the snow held off whatever pain he'd feel eventually. For the time being he still felt rather winded and dazed, he wasn't up long before he thumped back to the snowy ground onto his bony bird behind and tried to catch his breath. He looked warily at first at the two others, as though expecting to be accosted while in this weakened state. That is until Iris arrived and settled who exactly one of these two girls were.

"Thanks," he managed to call after the girl... Kani? He caught his breath by the time she was on her way. He gingerly began patting himself while still sitting in the snow, his lower bits getting colder while blood, warmth and feeling returned to his upper bits. "I... don't know," he said at first to Iris in a voice that shook, realizing that the longer he stayed silent the more she was likely to worry. He'd almost expected that as one of the older girls she'd view him with contempt for being so out of shape. He knew he certainly felt like a loon for his lack of endurance in the sky. Couldn't they have hiked up the mountain?

He suddenly hissed a huge breath inward and looked at his shoulder and poked it lightly. He couldn't remember ever feeling such pain! As more feeling returned his shoulder throbbed more and more. The pain began to spread down the arm to the first wing joint and seemed to stop there. He hoped harpie healers had a better bedside manner than that woman and her vile potions.

"I just... I think I should lie down," he said as he already began to lean back. Were his skin lighter then a darkening spot would already be visible in patches along one side of his face and many places along his left side where he would be bruised later.

"You can see him later!" Kani insisted, tugging her friend along. "C'mon we have to get him help. Mama says it's important. So we should go!" Kani would not let go of Finch. Best not to have her friend get into trouble. And Iris wouldn't exactly be pleased with a fledgling in her way.

"Stay awake for me just a little while longer Kitrio," Iris soothed, handling the male gently and helping him stay sitting. "The fledglings have gone to fetch a healer. They should be back soon. Kani's usually a reliable girl, though I can't say much about the other. You should have told us you needed a rest!" The scolding wasn't so much angry as concerned, and the brightly colored harpy gestured for several of the hovering girls to come down.

"Go after the girls," she ordered, "And help the healers bring a litter. We're going to need one." Iris would see to it that Kitrio was attended to with the best of care. If she didn't, the Matriarch would have her brilliant plumage for decoration. And besides, the harpy knew the value of a healthy male.

Due only to his wounded pride at being so out of sorts he at first resisted Iris' attempts to help him. He felt so weary though, dizzy with shock and the additional pains that slowly came to his awareness. Eventually he had no choice and not only realized that but was too tired to resist anymore. He'd stopped taking stock of his injuries, he hadn't the mental clarity to do it anymore. Iris was a colorful blue of light surrounded by a thin halo of white with the edges of his vision darkened.

"Azure..." he said softly, calling for someone. His hand sought out Iris' and he gave it a squeeze but something either startled him or pained him. He flinched and loosened his hold but did not let go entirely. It was comforting to know someone was there.
