Shauna tapped at her chin thoughtfully. There'd been a lot of people at the Halloween Party...she didn't remember meeting a Joce though. Wait! Blonde? "Was she the girl dressed as Alice?"

She blinked, thoughtfulness turning to a cheery smile when Asra mentioned that he didn't have nightmares either. "I wouldn't doubt that! You don't seem like you'd ever have nightmares...I have nice dreams too, but I guess it's because I have the help of my dream catcher to keep the bad ones away. What're your dreams about?" Shauna was curious to know what kind of dreams Asra had, he was always so happy! Perhaps they were dreams about love! He was always showing so much of it, after all, it only seemed right. Asra's explanation about kindred spirits caught her attention again, red fox ears perking up. Her, him and Elle?

"And Joce and Ror? I didn't know that!" She grinned. "That explains a lot though." Why she was so drawn to completely random children when she was smaller, now she knew! They must have been kin as well. Shauna giggled brightly, hugging Asra tightly before he drank some of his hot chocolate. "Love you, Asraaaaa! You're like a big, colorful brother~!"

Sitting up again after probably surprising Asra with such a big hug, the fox picked up her mug and took a careful sip. Hm...it was perfect now! "Thanks, Asra. That means a lot to me!"
PostPosted: Tue Nov 29, 2005 9:15 pm

"Yes, that was her!" Asra bubbled forth, happy to see she had seen her after all. "We're all connected, just like that." He let out a squee when she hugged him, blushing softly. "You're such a dear." He coo'd in a giggle.

His hot chocolate was all but gone, and he bent over to look at Shauna's cup before standing up to take his own. "Oh, my dreams! They're so odd. I've never really spoken to anyone about them though. They usually involve a lot of children.. a houseful really. We're always laughing and singing, or dancing and playing.. it's always such a happy time! What I've never understood about the dream is that I don't think I'm one of them. I'm always looking down, I suppose it means I'm taller.. perhaps I was an observer, but I never felt left out. They all loved me, I can tell by their expressions.. and oddest of all, whenever I pass by a mirror, I can never remember what I see."

He washed the cup in the sink and hung it to dry. "But I'm always happy!"

"Oh! I want to meet her sometime~! I don't know very many kids my age...and Momma says I should meet more girls besides my sister! She joked around about me being a guy magnet once." She nodded to confirm her statement, gulping down some of her hot chocolate. "Me and Vidya!"

Her cup was still partially full, or mostly empty if you had a pessimistic mind, when Asra checked it, so she was fine for now. Shauna listened with undivided interest to her friend's description, finishing her hot chocolate and skipping over to the sink next to him. "Wow! It sounds like you were maybe a Dad or something! Or maybe a big brother...or..." She stuck out her tongue playfully. "A momma~!" And then she quickly stepped aside to avoid any sort of retaliation if there came a physical one. Her ears twitched a little at the mention of a mirror, blinking a little. "That's kinda weird. That never happens with me, when I look in the mirror nothing happens. I had a dream about a crazy teenager though! She kinda looked like a picture Momma showed me of all the piercings she used to have before she met Daddy. She haaaad..." Shauna paused for a moment, mentally counting each piercing she'd seen while putting a finger to each place to keep track. "Seven...? Whatever, but this girl had like...a lot. She was with this guy and all these other people, I think I was just watching...but stuff was kinda blurry, I think.. They were being all crazy and weird and drinking stuff, they were acting funny, Momma said I started laughing in my sleep."

Shauna giggled, hugging Asra again after she put her own cup next to his to dry. "That's why I love being around you! You always cheer me up! You and Elle!"

Asrafel listened intently to her retell the story of her dream, though he couldn't imagine how to interpret it. After all, not all dreams were recollections of the past! He blinked in confusion when Shauna told him that's why she loved being around him, before putting two and two together and realizing she meant because he was always happy in real life too, just like he said he was in his dreams. He grinned crookedly, and returned the hug. "You too, Shauna. You too."

His eyes scanned the clock and widened for a moment. "Oh geez! I can't believe what time it is already! I've got some errands I was supposed to run today, and I should probably do them before it gets dark and colder. I hate to cut our visit short, but I wouldn't want you walking home alone at night anyway!" He frowned for a moment before tying the bag of marshmallows off and putting them away.

"But you never forget what I told you about coming back anytime, all right?"

She jumped a little at Asra's voice raising so suddenly, glancing over at the clock. Wow, had it really been that long? Her mother was sure to be home now. Giggling a bit, Shauna turned back to Asra and shook her finger at him. "Big procrastinator~! Don't get sick, 'kay? If you do...well...I'll just come over and feed you soup until your better!" ...That wouldn't be so bad. The fox frowned a little and picked up her jacket, taking the cell phone Eight had given her out of the pocket and looking for the speed dial for the house. "Momma should be home by now anyway. How long could she possibly spend at Daddy's house just talking to him?" Oh, what little Shauna knew of Eight and Alex's relationship.

The phone at home rang...but it wasn't Eight who answered. Shauna blinked. It was Liam, but did that mean Eight wasn't home yet? She talked to him for a bit, trying to steal the bag of marshmallows while doing so, before hanging up and shrugging a little. "Momma's not home, but Liam and Pan are so I won't be alone! Of course I'll come back! Why would I pass up a chance to hang out with you?" She chirped, putting her jacket on and giving Asra a tight hug.

"Have fun on your errands. I should hurry back so I can help Pan with.." Shauna glanced at the clock. "Dinner. Wow, it really is late!" She gasped, giving her friend another hug and a wave before she hurried out the door. "Night, Asra! Take care and see you soon!"

There was darkness. Silent darkness, with nothing filling the air except a strange beeping sound that went off every few seconds, growing farther apart after every beep.

Beep...
...
Beep...
...
Beeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep...

"We're sorry, Mr. and Mrs. Rivera..." Murmured a man in a surgeon's uniform, a surgical mask covering up the solemn look on his face. He was standing before a door with a sign that said the room behind him was the E.R. In front of him was a couple that looked around their late forties, wrinkles covered almost all over the woman's face, and her hair was already turning white, both of which were obviously signs of severe stress. The man was in very much the same condition, only not as severe as his wife; both were dressed in fancy clothing like they had just come from dinner or something closely related to it. Little by little men and women dressed very much like the doctor addressing the couple trudged out of the room behind him, a few appeared to be on the verge of tears, others were pulling their gloves off and putting their hands over their eyes in shame. The woman's hazel eyes widened, then filled with burning tears, quickly throwing herself into her husband's arms and breaking down into loud sobs. In between these sobs one could hear her trying to form words that were beyond understanding, too hysterical to even form proper words. "It was too late...there was nothing we could do for her...she had several fatal lacerations all over her body, and some internal bleeding...there was no saving her."

"It's my fault! If I hadn't of grounded her and said she could come...oh, my baby!" Mrs. Rivera continued to sob, falling to her knees and clinging desperately to her husband's jacket. "It's my fault for not listening to her!"

She could see something white...but it wasn't completely white, it was more like a really, really pale blue...what was it? She turned, and suddenly there was something bright and red...

Oh, that was her clock, and the pale blue had been her ceiling. Shauna blinked groggily, rubbing at her eyes with one hand and picking up her clock with the other to see the time better. It was 4:30 in the morning...great...now she'd never get back to sleep. The fox sighed and threw the covers off her body, sitting up and staring around the room; she'd never been awake at this time of night before, it was a bit eerie how silent the place was. Almost too eerie. "...It's too quiet..." Shauna whimpered, grabbing Tabby and holding her tight. One plushie wasn't enough...

A few minutes later there was a huge mountain of plushies on the bed, and Shauna could be seen cuddling into them. "This won't help...I don't want to be alone..."

Scratch, scratch.

"What was that?!" She gasped, darting up into a sitting position. What was that?! It sounded like something was trying to get into her room! But wait...that'd been a bad dream...how could she have a bad dream? Her brow furrowed a bit, looking up at where her dream catcher should have been...

It was...gone?!

"Oh...no...no, no, no! Where'd it go?" Whimpering a bit, Shauna jumped off her bed, ran across the room, threw open the door (passing Verin who'd been pawing at the door trying to get into Shauna's room), and ran into Eight and Alex's room. She made sure to keep her steps quiet as she snuck in, looking around in the dim light for anything to avoid stepping on...Ngozi was laying on a chair, so she wouldn't have to worry about him. Suki was over by the window sleeping in the moonlight...and Momma was snuggled up to Daddy in bed.

"Momma...?" She whispered quietly, sneaking across the room to gently wake her mother. Eight whined softly and curled up against Alex, trying her hardest not to wake up; it was too early! Why did she have to wake up now? It's one of the responsibilities of being a mother, Penelope. Said a voice in the back of her head, sighing in defeat and carefully sitting up so she wouldn't wake the man beside her.

"Shauna? What're you doing in here?"

"I had a bad dream..."

"How? You have that dream ca--"

"It's gone...and I heard a weird noise. Can I sleep in here with you guys tonight?" Shauna frowned, sitting down on the edge of the bed and immediately wrapping her arms around her mother. The half demon frowned and patted at Shauna's back, casting a silent glance at Alex for a moment before turning back to Shauna.

"Aren't you a bit old for this?"

"Please? Just this once!" Shauna looked up to her mother with those sad puppy eyes she always gave her to get her way, seven out of ten times it worked, and she'd just make herself look even more pathetic until it worked...which wouldn't be too hard. Eight sighed and hugged Shauna, tugging the girl over to lay down and throwing some of the covers over her.

"Fine, fine. Just this once, I know how you hate being alone. Such a bother when you were sleeping in here, if I got up and woke you you'd cry and cry and cry." Eight teased, waiting until Shauna had finished giggling and closed her eyes to go to sleep, the child rest her head on her mother's chest just over her heart. The heartbeat was sure to lull her to sleep. Shauna was just hoping that dream wouldn't come back, something about the people there had been somewhat familiar...

Dear Diary,

My dream catcher's gone! Where did it GO?! I've never been so angry about anything before! If one of my sisters took it...I swear. Because it was gone I had the weirdest dream! It was in a hospital and some doctor was talking to this elderly couple...what was their name...the Rivera's. I'll have to look in the obituary sometime to see if I can find a girl named Rivera in it somewhere, the doctor said she'd died...what's really creepy is when I saw the two people again I felt like I knew them.

Maybe it's got something to do with my past like Asra said would happen? Blah. I don't like this, I have to find my dream catcher again, or just make another one.

So my to-do list is:
- Search the obituaries for some girl named Rivera.
- Find/make dream catcher.
- Try to figure out what this dream means.

Do you think I've bothered Asra enough with my questions? He's a great guy and all, but I think I would get a little miffed at a child always asking personal questions or things that can be hard to answer; my questions are starting to feel silly, but I feel like I should tell someone about this dream. Maybe I'll tell Mom...or Dad? Or Elle...or Asra...so many people! I don't think anyone can tell me what this dream means, it's so...vague. It could mean anything.

The New Arrival...s!

"New mommy! What're those?" Asked a little fairy Tahnee, fluttering just inches from Eight's head. The halfling was standing before a table with her arms crossed and a perplexed look on her face, just staring at the four strange things sitting on her table. Normally Eight would have told Sebille not to call her 'New' mommy...but she'd given up on that ages ago, if the fairy wanted to call her new, then so be it...but still!

WHAT WERE THESE?!

"You know, in all honesty I don't have the slightest clue..."

"Maybe new daddy knows?" Sebille sat down atop Eight's head inbetween her headwings, holding onto them like a child holds onto the chains of a swing. Eight smiled and shook her head gently. If it was nothing then she'd show him, but what if these things were like...important artifacts someone had stolen from a museum and accidentally left somewhere? She didn't want to be arrested for something she didn't do! Maybe they were Christmas presents that'd been lost by an idiot husband like in cartoons or regular tv shows? The wife sends him out with a message that says 'the present in the trunk is for this charity fund' but then all the presents are back there, and it was supposedly blatantly obvious which present had been labled for the charity, but he gives them all away? Nah...that was just too stupid, she liked the idea of stolen artifacts more.

...But then that would mean...

The front door opened half an hour later as Shauna walked in. "I'm hooo~oooom~! ...Momma...?"

"I don't want to get arresteeeeeed!" Eight whined pitifully, clutching Sebille tightly to her chest like a stuffed toy.

"...Mom...? Why would you be arrested?"

"Those things!" Eight whimpered and pointed at the four figures on the table, finally letting go of Sebille, the poor fairy she'd been strangling. The fairy gasped for air and flew to Shauna, clinging to her arm in fear of being strangled again like that. Shauna merely blinked and walked over to the table, taking off her jacket on the way there and just tossing it onto a chair she walked past, Eight was still whimpering in a pathetic manner on the couch...really happy that Alex was at work for once. These things were kind of cute, they looked like little kitties with feathers coming out of their backs; she picked up the oddball of the group, it was bigger than the rest and had black feathers instead of white. They were all so cute! Like little toys!

"Don't they look like they were stolen from a museum?"

"Not really! Maybe Daddy got them for Christmas for you! They're not mine...where'd you find them?" Eight shrugged. She'd found them lying around the house...but Alex wouldn't just leave them out in the open, he was smarter than that! "Huh...oh hey look! The little gem on that one's glowing!" Shauna gasped, pointing at one of the smaller ones with white feathers, she put down the one she was holding to pick up the glowing one, bringing it over to Eight to show her mother. Wow, she was right...it was glowing. Eight blinked and touched the gem, but as soon as she touched it the whole thing exploded in a cloud of dust!

There were three other explosions in succession only a split second apart after that one, all the dust was unbearable! Shauna and Eight were left coughing up dust for what seemed like forever until Shauna finally got up and ran to a windo to open it up and fan out the dust. That'd been so weird! What could have caused those things to explode? Was it something they'd done?

Suddenly Eight squealed from her place on the couch, and when Shauna turned around she was hugging something she couldn't see from this angle. "Awwww! Well aren't you just the cutest!" She chirped happily, which caught Shauna's curiosity even more while she walked back to her mother and the...what was that?

Hey! Wait a second! She had a Mozou plushie shaped just like her! And here she thought that Mozou were just make believe creatures that vendor came up with when he was making all those adorable plushies! So if this little one was a Mozou, then were the others all Mozou too?

"We're over here too, you know!"

"Don't be so rude.."

"But they're ignoring us!" Shauna, Eight and the new Mozou on Eight's lap looked over to the table just before that point, and Eight squealed again. They were all cute! Just...this one had a sort of air about it that made it the cutest.

User ImageUser ImageUser Image

She hugged it again before carefully gathering the smaller Mozou in her arms and making her way across the room to the table. "That was rude, ignoring us like that..."

"Give it up, ribbon girl. We were the ones sitting here just watching them coddle the little one." The blue and silver Mozou sighed, shaking her head and rolling her eyes at the gold one sitting next to her. Eight blinked, finding this just a little weird now. Who was ignoring who?

"Er...nice to meet you four...do you have names?" The four Mozou...well, two of them, quieted and looked up at Eight together. Names? Well no! They didn't have names!

"Well...um...no."

"But you can name us!" Cheered the red and white Mozou, who appeared to be the only male of the bunch. Eight blinked again because now...all of them had the most eager looks on their faces. She had to name them?! But...but...she was horrible at names! Oh dear. Why couldn't they just have names? At least two of them would be easy to name.

"Well...uh...okay then...why not start with you two!" She pointed at the ribboned and striped Mozou. "You've got a candy cane sticking out of your mouth, and you look like one big peppermint! So why don't we call you Peppermint, 'kay?"

Peppermint blinked and stared at her, looking down at himself. "Peppermint...I like that...what about her?"

"Ribbon, of course! What do you think, Momma? Ribbon?" Shauna looked up at her mother, then down at the Mozou she'd dubbed Ribbon. She was sure her mother had another name in mind for her, but Shauna liked the name ribbon! It suited her! She had those ribbons on her, after all.

"...I guess it'll do, it's easy to remember and, well, was already called ribbon girl. But what about those two?" Ribbon tilted her head a bit, looking at the two Mozou that still weren't named. Eight shrugged and sat down, watching the blue and silver one quietly for a minute. What to name her? Her ear kind of looked like tinsel...but tinsel would be such a stupid name for her, she needed something special. Noel? But that was a...wait!

"Noel! But we'll add an extra l and e! So it's Noelle! More feminine, isn't it?" Noelle nodded, smiling softly. Now the attention was all on the smallest Mozou sitting on Eight's lap, staring quietly at the floor. She was so shy...it was adorable. That look in her eyes, and the way she moved, she obviously loved being held too. "I knew a girl named Cordelia when I was a little girl, she was really quiet and shy. Just like you. So we'll call you Cordelia from now on, how's that?

Cordelia looked up at the question, blinking a little. Did she like that name? ...Yes! It was pretty, and if it reminded this woman of someone than that must have meant it was important and meant something to her...did that mean she was important and meant something to her? Maybe! But that thought was only made apparent in her eyes, she smiled nonetheless and gave Eight a nod.

"Good...now, it's getting kind of late...and it smells like it's almost time for dinner...go upstairs and change, okay Shauna? I'll show these four around." Shauna pouted. Why'd she have to change?! She looked down at herself, the pants she'd worn to go outside were soaked from melted snow, it was a wonder she wasn't sick yet. She gave her mother one last look before she trudged upstairs with a sigh, pulling the legs of her pants up a little before Eight told her to do it. They were making the floor all wet! And they were also dragging the rest of the pants down! Anymore and they'd be on the floor!

Hello Mr. Snake!
Read it Here!
This RP is still in progress, just putting the posts we have in the post now.

Eight and Shauna
"How's this?" Shauna tapped her mother's shoulder to get her to turn around, doing a little turn to sow off the jacket she just tried on; it was black, but it was a nice jacket nonetheless, and it certainly was warm. Eight smiled and nodded, nursing some hot chocolate she's bought from a vendor outside the store they were in. Yes, they were on yet another trip to the mall! Eight had never gone so many times in her life! Shauna really did love shopping, it was kind of cute. "Weeeeeeeell?"

"I like it. Anything else catching your eye?" She nearly choked on a tiny marshmallow that somehow managed to get in her mouth undetected, watching as a tiny glint flashed through Shauna's amber eyes. Oh dear...what had she just done to herself? Her foxy daughter was looking around the store for things she had already looked at or things she hadn't noticed before; there were tons of things! "On second thought, why don't we--"

"These shirts are get two for ten dollars less! And these skirts are cute, and these pants, annnnd that sweater over there!" As each item was named it was collectively gathered into Shauna's arms, everything she touched was something she liked, and with every item Eight was slowly regretting bringing this up. Money wasn't a problem in the least, it was the carrying that would kill them!

"Now I see why Alex didn't want to come." Eight murmured quietly, putting a hand over her eyes with her thumb and middle finger rubbing her temples. "And you want...all of it?" The girl winced at that, spotting Shauna's enthusiastic nod and hearing her hurry to the counter to pay for everything. Lovely. Sighing and shaking her head in defeat, Eight trudged after her daughter while fishing through her purse for her wallet, finding the credit card she was looking for. "Are you trying to come up with ways to break my poor back?" She teased, taking the bags with all the clothes in them and walking out of the store with her daughter. Shauna laughed.

"Sure! I get to break your back! It's my job, after all. You're always complaining that something hurts...there was that one day you couldn't sit and just glared at Daddy like it was his fault!" She didn't get it, and it was probably better that she didn't. Eight's cheeks turned red, handing Shauna a few bags to keep her quiet before she said anything else.

"They're your clothes, you carry some. I need a hand to drink my hot chocolate."

Rhiannon Everwind and Ophi
"Dat'un?"

A small, scale mottled hand lifted, chubby fingers pointing towards a store that was full of clothing, shoes and accessories. It didn't seem to have anything in there that would appeal to a small child for more than a few moments, though he didn't seem to care as he turned his golden gaze up to the girl at his side, eyes questioning.

"Sure, why not?" Chey smiled down at Ophi, gently squeezing his hand and walking towards the store, pausing just long enough to call to the third and final member of their small party who was lingering a few yards behind, examining a case of jewelry in one of the store windows that they passed. "C'mon, Ma'man, we're going into this one."

The girl didn't even bother to wait for her mother to reply, shifting the two bags she carried in one hand, she pulled one of the two glass doors open and ushered the toddler in ahead of her; tail curling around to her side so it wouldn't get caught in the doorway. She bent over slightly to retrieve Ophi's hand once again, making sure to keep him at her side so he didn't wander off and get lost... again.

"Maybe they've got some clothes in here for you, you probably need them more than I do." Glancing back to the door as Rhia entered, Chey arched her brows at her mother as she came to stand next to them. The girl's crimson gaze pointedly fixed on the unlit cigarette in her mother's hand.

"What?" Rhia spat, her irritation evident immediately. She slid the cigarette behind one long ear and crossed her arms over her ample chest, looking down at her daughter through black lenses. "It's bullshit that you can't smoke here."

One of Chey's eyes squinted shut slightly, mouth quirking to one side as her mother swore. Leave it to Rhia to not care what habits Ophi picked up; now that he was starting to talk more, he frequently mimicked what people around him said.... and the people around him were prone to swearing. "I'm going to see if I can find some little kid clothes. Would you mind looking for a top for me to go with that black skirt we just got me?"

"Sure, I'll see what I can find." Rhia, holding a small bag of her own, rolled her shoulders, her large wings shifting with the movement, and bent down to plant a quick kiss on the top of Ophi's head. He tilted his head back to look up at her, a smile appearing and revealing his fangs. "Stay with Chey, alright? I'll catch up to you guys in a few minutes."

"Okay." He said quietly, turning and following Chey as she weaved through the racks of shirts, pants, skirts and jackets. Ophi was less interested in the clothes as he was the few people he saw in brief glimpses. His slitted eyes flicked to and fro, his hand unconsciously tightening around Chey's index finger, and every so often the tip of his forked tongue would slip out from between his grey-green lips. He was a little uncomfortable being in a place he didn't know, but the feeling wasn't that bothersome at the moment. He was with Chey, and he knew Mama was around somewhere; if anything bad were to happen, she was certainly the one he'd want around.

Rhia watched them go for a moment, dark lips pulled into a grim line as her mind wandered, and she abruptly gave her head a light shake; pulling herself back to the present with visible effort. Turning towards the closest group of tops, she glanced towards two individuals that caught her eye. Her tail idly swayed back and forth behind her as she studied them, a soft chime of recognition sounding in the back of her mind. After a moment or two of mulling it over and remembering nothing about the fox girl and the woman with the wings sprouting from her head, she simply pushed it from her mind and proceeded to look through the shirts, the fact that she had perhaps briefly seen them at a certain Halloween party failing to dawn on her.

Eight and Shauna
Unfortunately for Eight the number of bags Shauna aquired were gradually growing...luckily one of them was really tiny since it was just a few pieces of feathered jewelry Shauna saw that she liked, she'd even been sweet enough to say that a purple, auburn and red feathered necklace reminded her of Alex, herself and Eight.

Eight had finished her hot chocolate ages ago at this point, but she bought another one just because she loved them so much, but Shauna still wasn't ready to leave! They'd been passing a store on the way out and almost made it when out of nowhere Shauna stopped to look at the store. "No, Shauna, I think we're about done for the day. Let's go somewhere and grab a bite to eat before we go home." Eight sighed, adjusting her hold on a couple bags before she turned to look at Shauna. Shauna, on the other hand, was too busy staring through the window at a green snake-boy that was walking through the store with two women; it wasn't a rude stare, although any kind of stare could be thought of as rude, but more like the kind of look Asra gave her sometimes - an affectionate look you'd give your kin. Eight didn't see this look, however. "Come on, Shauna."

"Can we just look around this one store for a little while? I promise that if I find anything I like I'll carry it! Pleeeeeease?" Shauna gave her mother the look that always won her over, but Eight was dead set on leaving for the day. The store wasn't going to just suddenly leave if Shauna didn't go in it today! They could visit it another time! "Come on! I want to!" She whined quietly to Eight so she wouldn't cause a scene, whimpering pathetically. Eight's eyebrow twitched a little, finding it strange that Shauna would whine this much just to go into a store.

"If you stick to your promise and stop whining too." Eight grumbled, shaking her head and slowly following after her daughter into the store. The first thing she saw was the demon woman, it was kind of hard to miss her...maybe if she just ignored her she wouldn't notice her, this woman didn't exactly look like the type of woman Eight would want to talk to. Shauna was too busy looking through clothes, it'd be weird if she just suddenly went up to the pair out of nowhere!

Rhiannon Everwind and Ophi
Rhia caught the woman's eye as she gazed over at the demoness, her nose crinkling just slightly in distaste as the woman averted her gaze just a little too quickly. Narrowing her pallid eyes behind the sunglasses she wore, she turned them down to the top she had been examining. It looked like something Chey would be interested in, and it was black with a splash of dark red across the front; perfect for the skirt her daughter had bought. She gave one last condescending glance towards the two that had entered, more so to the redhead than to the fox girl, and gave a soft snort; placing the shirt's hanger on her wrist and turning her winged back to them. Everyone was entitled to their rude moments, but anyone that knew Rhia could attest that she had lately been abusive to that privilege.

Chey and Ophi had ventured further towards the back of the store, though it was rather small compared to some stores that lined the mall's interior. The child was completely immersed in his surroundings, and for the moment clearly enjoying the sounds, smells and even the different textures of the fabric he touched as they brushed passed. Rarely did he like being in places that were so noisy and crowded, but for the moment he was enthralled with the seemingly endless supply of colorful fabric, tassels and belts. Golden eyes flashing, he reached out every chance he got and ran his fingers across an article of clothing or toyed with the beaded fringes of a belt, retreating to walk directly at Chey's side only when a stranger got too close. His thick tail curled curiously behind him the moment he caught sight of two forms through a makeshift aisle; both standing out against the store's other occupants just as much as he, Chey and Rhia did.

"Wook." He stopped abruptly, causing Chey to halt in her tracks and turn to look down at him. He was looking up at her expectantly, as if she should know immediately what he had wanted her to see. When she stood silent for a moment, brow furrowed as she gazed down at him in confusion, he blew air out his nose loudly and scrunched up his face a bit; clearly impatient with her lack of understanding. He turned and lifted his free hand, index finger pointing through the lines of clothing to the girl with the fox ears and tail and the woman she was with. "Righ' dere."

"Ophi, it's not polite to point at people." Chey said quietly, squatting down for a moment to scoop the winged boy into her arms. "They're both very interesting, yes, but we're here for clothes."

"Hat..." He said softly, ignoring Chey entirely. He was clearly puzzled that the woman should have small wings upon her head, and he continued to stare a moment longer; lower lip sticking out slightly and brows knitted, concentrating hard on the pair and trying to come to some sort of conclusion. "Dat... dat da dog?"

Chey laughed softly and pursed her lips together, trying to keep from attracting attention to herself, namely the attention of the two beings the toddler was so interested in. "No, Ophi, she's not a dog. She's maybe... a kitsune of some kind, a fox. Kind of like a dog, but not really, I don't think you'd understand if I explained it to you. Now let's look for more clothes, okay?"

This time Chey carried him, turning her attention back to searching the rest of the store for clothes, but Ophi didn't lose interest that quickly. He had never seen someone with wings on their head before, nor had he seen someone like the girl with the fox ears and tail. The closest thing he had seen was Madison, but she was different, and the snake child continued to peer over Chey's shoulder at the two, slitted eyes narrowed and bi-colored wings fidgeting curiously.

Eight and Shauna
For now Eight was just going to sit here on a conveniently placed chair, not really all that interested in shopping anymore for today; Shauna was perfectly capable of calling for her if she was ever needed, and should someone try and run out of the store with her daughter...well she was right next to the door, so good luck, pal! Eight yawned and nursed her hot chocolate, looking through a few of the bags (or rather all of them it seemed) Shauna had left with her. Her headwings twitched a bit when she heard a snort and the rustle of feathers, glancing up in the corner of her eye to see that the demon woman had turned. Eh, oh well! Must have been for the best! She didn't really feel like talking right now anyway, she was too tired.

Shauna gave the pair a glance every now and then, smiling softly at how interest the little snake boy was about the clothing. Had she been that curious when she was his age? Her ear twitched a bit when she was called a dog, however, and she pouted a little bit. A dog?! Her ears pinned down against her hair at that statement, tail swaying a little as the girl who appeared to be his sister explained that she was a fox; that was much better. The fox ventured to turn her head fully to the two when they turned around, ears perking up in surprise when she discovered that the little boy was still watching her. Aww!

Taking a step or two closer, Shauna wiggled a few fingers at Ophi in greeting, spotting a shirt in the corner of her eye. Ooh, that shirt looked nice...and if only it looked like it'd fit. She made a face when she picked it up, turning to Ophi with a questionable look on her face like she was asking for his opinion. Humor the child, Shauna! He looked so curious! It was adorable!

Chey and Ophi
Chey had, like her mother, been drawn towards a little black shirt with a small, colored design on the front, only this shirt had its sides cleaved in two and held together by thin, red ribbons that crisscrossed up the sides. Her crimson eyes sparked at the sight of the top, all thoughts of children's clothing vanishing, and she set Ophi down next to her so she could hold it up and admire it. "Hey, Ophi, what do you think of... Ophi?"

She arched one brow and looked down, noting that the child was still completely ignoring her. Lifting her eyes, she followed his line of sight to where the girl he had been studying earlier was looking at a rack of shirts, and the young demon quirked her mouth and shrugged her shoulders lightly, turning her own attention back to the tops in front of her. "No wonder Ma'man kept you, you're as weird as the rest of us."

Ophi continued to pointedly ignore Chey, intently gazing across at the fox girl. He knew she was only pretended to not look at them; unlike Chey, he was able to see this clearly. Amused by the wave she offered him, his scaly lips twitched into a small grin and he glanced back to Chey, who was rummaging through a line of tops, apparently looking for her size. One couldn't really blame her for taking her eyes off the child, though Rhia certainly would have; both of her parents weren't known for their attention spans.

Ophi turned back to the girl to find she had picked up a nearby top and was now looking at him expectantly. His brow furrowed a moment, feathered wings rustling softly, before he took a small step away from Chey. Glancing back to make sure she wasn't looking and thus wouldn't scold him (as she had done in the previous store when he had ventured off), he turned and slowly wandered over to the fox girl; neck craning slightly so he could look at the top she held. He looked down at his own black t-shirt and then back up at the top she held, which looked only slightly bigger than the one the toddler currently wore.

Looking around for a moment, he reached up and grabbed the bottom hem of a dark orange shirt that hung nearby, a stylized, golden bird printed across the breast, and gave it a strong jerk. The shirt came off the hanger, leaving it naked upon the bar it hung, and the shirt came down upon the boy's head. His cobra hood flared slightly at this, tail lashing behind him and wing feathers bristling before he pulled the shirt from his head, blinking and turning back to the fox girl. Slitted eyes meeting hers, he slowly held it out to her, voice soft, "Dis one?"

Shauna
He was more adventurous than she'd thought! Shauna smiled sweetly and kneeled down so she was almost level with the little snake boy, quietly watching him come over; this was very good, because she'd originally planned on somehow scooting close enough to strike conversation...but that might have been awkward, she preferred this much more. Shauna had wandered off enough times to make Eight die of a heart attack if it hadn't just been discovered that she was merely around the corner, behind something or on the other side of something her mother was standing in front of.

She blinked once or twice when Ophi suddenly grabbed at a shirt within his reach, putting the other shirt she'd picked back onto the rack and reaching over to help him, but by the time she was close enough to get the shirt off the hanger it was already on top of the boy's head. Shauna put a hand over her mouth and giggled softly. That was so adorable! Closing one amber eye, Shauna inspected the dark orange shirt he was holding out to her. "That's a lovely pick. I like that one too." She reached out to take the shirt and hold it against herself, looking down for a moment before holding the tag out to check the size. Wow! It would fit her too! "Such a pretty color too, isn't it? My name's Shauna...I take it yours is Ophi?" That girl kept calling him Ophi, so she could probably assume that she was correct.

Ophi
While Shauna was examining the shirt, Ophi chanced a glance back in the direction of Chey, who was currently trying to get Rhia's attention without yelling at her. He pursed his lips for a moment, knowing that he should head back over there before Chey looked down and found him missing, or before Rhia came over and found that Chey had lost him again. Turning back to Shauna he looked up at her as she spoke to him, golden eyes shining dully.

"Taun." He said softly, pressing his tongue against his fangs as he tried out the new word. "Tauna. No dog." He shook his head - more to himself than to her - and promptly ignored Shauna's subtle question about his name, instead looking back around at the clothes. He found it rather entertaining to pick out clothes for people, and since Chey never seemed to let him do it (though occasionally she did allow him to pick clothes for her), he wasn't about to let this opportunity slip through his small fingers.

Slitted eyes casting a slightly guilty look towards Chey's back, he eased past Shauna in a manner that made it clear his looks weren't the only thing related to a snake; steps quiet and nimble. He reached up and snatched one of Shauna's fingers, wings folding tightly against his body and thick tail curling behind him as he gently tugged her, "Walk. Walk dis way."

Shauna
Shauna tilted her head a little, listening quietly to Ophi testing out her name. She'd give him a little help when he was older, his S's must be like Shauna's L's when she was his age, they needed coaxing. The fox giggled and nodded, hugging the shirt against her chest and getting on both knees so she was more comfortable now. "That's right! I'm a fox, not a dog." She watched him look at the other clothing, inspecting them for nice things that would probably look good on her, Ophi was so sweet! "See anything else you approve of?"

She looked up at the girl he'd been with before the last time Ophi checked on her, her smile softening a little. Shauna wouldn't let Ophi go too far and out of sight, she'd rather not hear both of their parents scolding them - hers for drawing Ophi away, and Ophi's for wandering away to complete strangers. But life was all about taking risks and meeting new people! If the world was always worried about strangers then there'd be no acquaintances, no friends, maybe even no families! A person was only a stranger until you got to know them, after all, and this was exactly what they were doing!

Now where was he planning on going? Shauna blinked, turning to whatever direction Ophi was leading her and quietly following after him. Walk this way? Why? Were they walking to the other woman she'd seen him with or was he just trying to get away from the other girl and out of sight? If that was the case then Shauna'd have to stop him as soon as she realized it. "Where're we going, Ophi?"

Ophi and Chey
Ophi didn't seem that interested in the differences between fox and dog, and though he had no idea what a fox was, other than an orange and white dog, he seemed content enough at the moment. A fox, not a dog. He shuffled along silently, slowly, eyes moving from his left to his right and back again, nearly in perfect unison with his tail. He liked it all really, and couldn't quite keep the small smile from touching his lips. Though he was part snake and prone to liking dark, enclosed spaces, he was also nothing more than a child; the colors, styles and textures capturing his eye and feeding his curiosity.

"That's what I'd like to know." Came a silky voice from behind the pair, seconding Shauna's query about where it was they were going. The boy stopped and blinked a few times, tail and wings drooping as he realized he was most likely in trouble. Chey was standing behind them with her hands on her slender hips, a single brow arched, "Would you mind telling me who's leading who this time?"

"Hi." Ophi said in the same quiet voice, peeking around Shauna's legs and turning his golden eyes up to look at Chey's disapproving face. He released Shauna's finger and stepped around her so he was in front of the blonde, pointing back at Shauna and doing a damned good job of pretending he had done nothing wrong. "Not da dog."

Chey managed a half-smile for the child before turning her gaze back to Shauna, tail languidly moving about. She seemed an expert at sending multiple meanings with just one look; her smile all rainbows and sunshine, yet her blood-hued eyes regarded the other girl with more than a little suspicion. "And you are?"

Shauna
Every so often Shauna would check behind her to make sure the girl who was supposed to be taking care of Ophi was still in sight. It was cute to see Ophi so interested in picking clothes out, letting him lead her around for the most part. The girl jumped a little when an unfamiliar voice suddenly spoke out in her direction, looking up behind her with wide, startled eyes. Oh! It was the girl who'd been watching Ophi!

...

Oh...it was the girl who'd been watching Ophi...crap, she was in trouble now wasn't she? Shauna smiled sheepishly and stood up letting go of Ophi's hand and turning to face Chey. Oh dear...this might not end well... "Eh heh...it--" She blinked and looked down at Ophi when he spoke, bending down enough to pat his hooded head. "You're so cute." Shauna giggled, watching the boy point at her and speak. What did he mean by 'not da dog?' The fox's ears perked up when she was addressed again, standing up straight before she answered.

"I'm Shauna. Er...sorry about all this, but I saw him in the window and thought he was so cute! I wasn't trying to steal him or anything, promise. He was um..." She looked down at the shirt she'd been given earlier, giggling and holding up the top for Chey to see, still smiling. "Helping me shop! I wasn't going to let him lead me out of your sight." The girl didn't seem phased by the look in Chey's eyes, and it was probably because she knew that the girl had every right to be suspicious. The world wasn't always the safest place!

"He started it anyway~" Shauna teased, pointing at Ophi like a child and sticking her tongue out at him.

Ophi and Chey
Chey studied Shauna intently, slitted pupils widening a touch as she watched the other girl lightly pat Ophi's head. Whether she was indeed telling the truth or not was still to be seen, but the young demon didn't see any harm in the situation. Even if Shauna had intended on taking Ophi, the girl wouldn't have gotten him past Rhia. Besides, it's not like Ophi had never wandered off before, so the girl's story probably wasn't a fabrication. The child seemed to get along better with older children, not younger children (or adults for that matter), and thus tended to gravitate towards that field when he didn't feel like being alone.

Ophi blinked as Shauna stuck her tongue out, momentarily perplexed as to why she was doing this. He hadn't exactly been paying attention to what had just been said, he was only half-listening for his name or waiting for Chey to take his hand and drag him back to Mama. Upon Shauna's teasing gesture, however, he let out a soft burst of air, the sound a soft hiss as the red and white feathers on his wings ruffled. His own tongue, forked and a dark grey in color, slipped out from between his scaled lips for a moment; the tip flicking a few times before it slipped back into his mouth and out of sight.

Unlike what her brother would have done, Chey kept the rude comments and questions that churned in her head silent, instead holding out her hand to Ophi after he had retaliated. The winged boy stepped to her side and curled his hand around her index finger, both of them turning their gazes back to Shauna. The blonde tilted her head a little, golden flecks in her small horns catching the light and throwing it off in dozens of small sparks. "He is cute, but he can also kill you. I suggest you keep away from his mouth." She wasn't trying to be rude, she was simply stating a fact. "I'm Cheyna, by the way, and I prefer Chey. Ophi and I are here with-" She paused a second, the word she was about to speak surely unintelligible to the fox girl, thus rephrasing the statement. "-with our mother. She hasn't been in the best of moods the past few days, but you're welcome to shop with us."

Shauna
There was no chance Shauna would lie about something as serious as a kidnapping unless it was some sort of game, this girl was just too damn suspicious! Why would a young girl like her, that looked no older than twelve or thirteen, kidnap a young boy? She had no motive, no tact, no possible way of making it out of the store. Shauna was probably the opposite of Ophi when it came to socializing, because she knew more younger children than children her age or older than her! Asra, Elle and Lonan were the only ones older than her, and then there was Ror, the boy she'd met before, Brimstone, 'Stala and now Ophi! The only person her age was Vidya!

Shauna blinked at Ophi's hiss, frowing. "I was only kidding, I didn't mean to make you mad, Ophi." Other than that she wasn't phased by his reaction to her joke, thinking it must have been nerves making him behave differently than the innocent little boy she was just shopping with. Had she been in his shoes she probably would have done something similar! Only she wouldn't act like a snake, she'd act like a distressed fox. She bent down for a moment to give him a quick hug in apology before she heard what Chey said, both ears perking up and bristling. Kill...you...?

"...I guess that makes sense..." She murmured, petting Ophi's hood and standing up again. That must have been some curse, being like an actual cobra with venom running through your body; she always did feel bad for real cobras and other venomous snakes when she saw them on tv or in books. "I'll just keep that in mind for future reference!" Her bright, happy smile returned at the introduction, folding her hands behind her back and bowing briefly at the waist. That wasn't something Eight had taught her, it was just a spur of the moment kind of thing.

"It's nice to meet you, Chey! I'm here with my mom too, but she's too lazy and tired to stand up again unless she really has to right now." She snickered and checked behind her on her mother, seeing that Eight was contently sitting in the chair finishing her hot chocolate and...hey! Where'd she get that cookie?! "I'd love to shop with you too, it's nicer to shop in groups or pairs, y'know?"

Ophi and Chey
Being hugged was not something the serpent child was used to and it showed as he flared his hood, slitted pupils dilating slightly. He didn't seem to really mind the hug, but he didn't return it either, instead simply allowed Shauna quickly and lightly embrace him. As if to back up what Chey had just said, the boy yawned, revealing the pair of long, needle point fangs.

"Yeah, it is." Chey smiled and flicked her pointed ears, glad to have someone who was - appearance wise - around her own age. Not that she didn't mind Ophi's and Rhia's company; she loved them both dearly and spent as much time as she could with them, especially after what had happened a few weeks before. The same went with her brother, Cheylan, even if he wasn't the best of companionship more often than not. It was just nice to talk with someone who wasn't a family member once in awhile. "We haven't been shopping that long, we were actually looking for clothes for Ophi, but me being me, I found a few things. And Ma'man," Chey lifted her slender brows and shook her head a little, an amused smile on her dark lips. "She's worse than I am a lot of the time. She has more clothes than everyone in our house combined, and still she goes out and buys more."

The feathers of Ophi's wings ruffled and he flapped them once, his thick tail swaying behind him. He gently tugged on Chey's finger and looked up at her with his golden eyes, clearly done with simply standing here and talking. There was still much to see in the store, and in the mall itself, and the child seemed to think that it wouldn't sit around and wait for the two girls to finish talking. Chey laughed softly, the sound clear and melodious, "Okay, Ophi, whereto first?"

He looked up to Chey for a moment and then turned his attention to Shauna, at first acting as if he wanted one of them to decide. After a brief pause he turned and looked around, the tip of his tongue sliding into view only to disappear a split second later as he pointed in a random direction. "Dat way."

Shauna
"I know how that is, my mom will take me shopping for me and then she finds a ton of things for herself as well." She giggled, blinking and glancing back at the other woman looking through clothes on the other side of the store. Was she 'Ma'man'? Her ears twitched when she heard the rustle of feathers, looking down at Ophi and smiling. Aww! He was just so cute and impatient! Eight told her she had her moments like that when she was little too, were all children like that then? Shauna knew so many you'd think she'd know...hm...Shauna needed more friends her age, most definitely.

"Lead the way, Ophi~!" Shauna chirped when Ophi looked up at her, following the little snake-boy's gaze while he looked around. Which way, which way, so many directions to choose from. Looking up when he finally said which way to go, the fox smiled again. "Oh look, there's boys clothes and shoes over in that direction." A pity Shauna would probably never have to wear shoes...well it was almost a pity, they looked uncomfortable in Shauna's eyes. Why where shoes when you can always have your feet free? They never got cold thanks to the fact that her feet were furry little paws, and shoes made noises when you walked! Being shoeless like she always was made her light on her feet and completely silent, thus ends Shauna's thoughts on shoes. Convincing, no? She'd probably ban the wearing of shoes if she controlled Gaia's laws; what a funny thought.

Ophi and Chey
Chey arched her brows for a moment and gently guided the child in a direction they hadn't been yet, taking care not to guide him too blatantly; he preferred to go where he wanted and had never been afraid to voice his disgust at being dragged somewhere. Carefully maneuvering him towards the boys clothing, she flipped one of her bi-colored braids over her shoulder with her free hand and glanced over to Shauna. "We probably won't find anything for him here, he likes picking out clothes for other people, but he doesn't really have any interest in picking out clothes for himself. You can't really pick something out for him either, he refuses to wear it."

Ophi made a face at Shauna's mention of shoes and Chey laughed quietly, giving another soft shake of her head. "He doesn't like shoes either, I'm not sure why though. He usually just ends up wearing his slippers out places. Ma'man has a horrible time getting him to wear something more than a pair of pants, I think most shirts bother his wings, I can understand that though, alot of them bother mine too."

As if to confirm what the blonde demoness had just said, Ophi fluttered his wings a few times and tugged on the collar of his t-shirt, glancing up at them for a moment before turning his attention back to everything eye level.

Shauna
"Aw. I wonder why that is?" It was sweet that Ophi liked to pick out clothes for other people...but did he not want clothes of his own? This was an odd situation his family had. As they passed a cute maroon shirt Shauna plucked it off the rack and held it up against herself, obviously pleased with it since she kept it.

Shauna's ears perked and her head turned back to Chey when the topic of shoes came up, smiling and nodding in understanding. "I can't wear shoes at all!" She giggled, pointing down at her paws. "It's a real bother when I come across a place with a no shoes, no service policy! Have to explain to them that I can't wear shoes." She sighed, shaking her head. "But my dad has wings! He just wears shirts with openings in the back! I think they usually have a button somewhere to keep it closed." But where to get one of these shirts Shauna had no idea. Asra had wings too...but he just walked around naked except for his ribbons all day. At least he had the ribbons.

Ophi and Chey
Cheyna smiled as Shauna acquired a shirt on their way to the boys clothing; that was exactly the kind of thing that happened in her family all the time! She nodded absently, smile widening a bit as she looked down at Shauna's feet. "I'm not sure why he doesn't like shoes, his feet aren't big or anything, maybe they're just plain uncomfortable for him."

The girl's smile faltered slightly at Shauna's mention of her father, but she recovered with a rueful shake of her head. At that same moment Ophi had paused and was now looking at a black t-shirt with a silver outline of a snake etched on the chest. Bending down, she gave his hand a light squeeze and arched her brows beneath her bangs, "Do you like that shirt, sweetie?"

The serpent child seemed to think this over for a moment, golden eyes narrowing and tongue gently pressing against one of his thin fangs, but after the brief pause he shook his head, "No."

"Oh. Well, it was worth a shot." Chey straightened up and gave him a smile before offering Shauna a small shrug. "You want to help me see if there's something here he likes? I'm not sure how long Ma'man is planning on staying in this store, it doesn't have her kind of taste." Chey grinned and released Ophi's hand, letting the winged boy go where he wanted and her simply follow, but not before shifting the two bags a little and discreetly pulling one of the silver snake shirts off the rack; adding it to the few clothing items she had draped over her arm.

Shauna
"Maybe he doesn't like the idea of being confined by silly materials?" Shauna would have to agree with him if she was right, even she sometimes wished she didn't have to wear clothes all the time. She was grateful for whenever she was able to wear what she wanted. The fox blinked in confusion when she noticed Chey's expression change after mentioning Daddy, she wouldn't ask though.

Shauna smiled when Ophi stopped to look at a shirt that seemed very fitting for him. How nice! "I'm sure it'd look very good on you." She said as encouragement to convince him to say yes, frowning a little at the answer he gave instead. he really didn't like picking clothes for himself, did he? ...Shauna could already see him growing up to be a big fashion designer! The risk of looking like a loonatic was the only thing that kept Shauna from giggling at the sight she was picturing.

"Perhaps he'll get better with age? Sure, my mom looks about ready to fall asleep in that chair over there..." She mused after looking back to check on her mother. Eight yawned every once in awhile, and she was sitting indian style on the chair now with the bags set up like a wall around her...oh boy, when her mother had time on her hands she really did go a little batty. "Is that her over there?" Shauna asked as she gestured to the other woman with wings, smiling when Chey picked up the shirt Ophi had been looking at. "How about some pants to match that shirt?"

Rhiannon Everwind, Chey and Ophi
Chey let out a soft giggle at Shauna's comment, knowing her mother would have a fit if Ophi decided to one day roam around completely naked. Not to mention everyone else might not be that wild on the idea of a snake child running around without being fully clothed. "I don't think it matters if wants to wear clothes or not, he has to."

Ophi looked back at Shauna as she told him the shirt would look good on him, his expression as skeptical as it was mordant, more like the expression a grown man would wear rather than a small boy. Chey smiled and made a dismissive gesture, "Don't worry, he's like that sometimes. I think they'd look good on him too."

The child simply made a wet, snorting sound in the back of his throat, black tongue flicking out briefly before he turned and wandered in between two racks of clothing. The young demoness kept an eye on him, but that didn't stop her from peering over at Shauna's mother. The girl's pale brows rose a bit as she noted Shauna and Eight had very little in common, appearance wise, if anything at all. Then again, all she had to do was compare her own mother and Ophi to know that wasn't really unusual.

"She does look tired," Chey agreed, scarlet eyes flicking over to Rhia. "Yep, that's her over there. She sticks out like a sore thumb, doesn't she?" The blonde grinned and lifted a hand, waving her arm erratically until she got her mother's attention. Rhia arched a brow and crossed her arms over her ample chest, biceps flexing as Chey motioned for her to come over.

Turning back to Shauna, she gave the other girl and smile, "I'll introduce you before we go look for some pants, I'm sure she'll like you. And don't worry, she's a bit intimidating at first, but she's really very nice. Even if she looks a little scary and is a bit..." Chey trailed off for a moment, not wanting to say anything negative about her mother. Glancing back to make sure Ophi was still near, she shrugged softly, "Well, you'll probably see what I mean when you meet her."

Shauna and Eight
Shauna giggled. "Fight the system!" Although the idea of a naked snake-boy running around was kind of funny. Shauna didn't even attempt to picture it though; it'd just be gross, and even with Asra as one of her best friends she still didn't know the male anatomy enough to picture why it'd be so wrong.

Despite what little Shauna and Eight seemed to have in common appearance-wise (Although if you knew her well enough you'd notice Shauna looked like a mix between Eight and Alex), Eight still treated Shauna like her real daughter. Eight was watching the group in the corner of her eye, pretending to be staring at a rack near her. It had nice clothes...but Eight was too lazy to get up.

"Momma's headwings make her stand out too. Your mom has pretty wings." She'd never seen wings like that. They were always only one color! Like Alex's were purple, and cousin Delly's were black, Faye's were white and Hong Hang's were pink! But she'd never seen two-toned wings. Chey was right though, their mother did look a little scary...but since Chey and Ophi were so nice she couldn't be that bad! "And you can meet my mom! ...If I can get her up..."

Rhiannon Everwind, Chey and Ophi
Chey smiled at Shauna's comment, and her smile only widened when she noticed Rhia slowly making her way towards them. It amused the girl to see her mother stopping every five feet to look at something on a rack, give it a nasty sneer, and then continue onwards. That was Rhia for you.

"I like your mom's headwings, I've never seen those before. I'd love to meet her, she looks nice." Chey gave Shauna a smile and turned just in time to see Ophi disappear behind a rack of shirts. Setting her bags down, she glanced at Shauna for a moment before hurrying over to him, "Wait here, I'll be right back."

"Hi." He said quietly, giving her a small smile as knelt down in front of him, pointed ears perking. He held up a black t-shirt with a copper colored design splashed across the front. "Wook at dis."

"Oh, did you find that? It's very nice!" Chey stood up and held her hand out, waiting for him to take it. "Come on, it's not a good idea to leave Shauna alone with Ma'man."

Chey and Ophi walked back over to Shauna at the same time Rhia halted in front of them, both of them looking up at her and smiling. Ophi let go of the blonde's hand and hurried over to Rhia, reaching up and grabbing two fistfuls of the short skirt the redhead wore. "Mama carry. Carry me, p'ease."

Rhia bent down and scooped Ophi up with one arm, eliciting a sweet giggle from the child as he loosely wrapped one arm around her neck; wings flapping once. She gave him a smile before turning her attention to her daughter and the fox girl, her long ears swinging forward a bit. She dropped her chin a little to gaze at Shauna over her black sunglasses, white eyes glinting, "And this is...?"

"This is Shauna," Chey's crimson eyes flickered sideways for a moment. "If it's okay with you and her mom, we wanted to know if maybe we could all shop together for a little?"

"Sure, I don't care." Rhia idly plucked Ophi's hand from where it grasped her bra strap and the strap to her tank top, eyes scanning the store as the tip of her tongue toyed with the ring in her lower lip. "Where the hell is her mother?"

Eight and Shauna
The fox nodded in reply to Chey's compliments. "The horns and wings were inherited from her mother! She's really nice too, unless you make her mad." That was pretty much a given. Shauna blinked and looked back at Ophi when he disappeared, waiting patiently where Chey had left her. She didn't look so intimidated when Rhia finally stopped near her, smiling politely up at the tall demoness. Her ears flicked when she heard Ophi's voice again, giggling softly at how cute his request was. When she was little all she ever had to do was stare her mother down before Eight would cave and hug her tight.

"Hello! It's nice to meet you!" The fox said after Chey introduced her, looking past Rhia to where her mother was sitting and watching them, looking ready to get up. At the woman's question she pointed over to Eight briefly, smiling brightly again. "The tired winghead lady over there."

Eight didn't hear any of the words being exchanged amongst the four, not a single one...not a single one except for winghead that is. "Don't call me that." She called, leaning her elbow into her knee and propping her head up in the heel of her hand. Hmph! Winghead! One of the worst things she could ever be called! Shauna looked like she wanted something...and she really didn't want to leave her alone with so many strangers so, despite how much she really didn't want to, Eight pushed herself up off the chair and began making her way through the racks to the group. The problem was...she and Rhia had something in common, Eight would stop every couple minutes to look at a piece of clothing that caught her eye. She stopped next to Shauna in a decent amount of time though.

Rhiannon Everwind, Chey and Ophi
"Mm, I'm sure it is." Rhia's dark lips spread into a small grin as Shauna greeted her, blank eyes studying the child from behind her dark lenses. It was about time Chey found some friends outside the household, and from the look on Rhia's scarred face, it was obvious she felt her daughter could have chosen better company. But, she also could've done worse, much worse.

Chey pursed her lips and gave her mother a slightly exasperated look, tail lashing in the air, but her attention shifted to Eight as the other woman approached. The blonde smiled and raised her hand, giving Shauna?s mother a small wave, "Hi, I'm Cheyna."

"Hi." Ophi mimicked Chey's small wave as Eight stopped next to Shauna, seeing no reason to be wary. If his sister was willing to be friendly, he felt it was okay to be friendly as well. His mother, on the other hand, simply arched a slender brow at Eight, giving her a once over.

"You have wings on your head." She stated, the comment said in such a way it was surely to be taken as an insult. The fingers that held Ophi?s hand lightly tapped his skin, wishing the cigarette that was perched on her ear was lit and they were holding it. She shifted her large wings on her back, but before she could say anything further, Chey deftly intervened.

"They're very interesting, I've never seen something like them before." The girl shot a nervous look at her mother, afraid Rhia might spit something out, but the horned demoness merely smirked, holding her tongue for now. She turned back to Eight and smiled again, "This is my mom, Rhia, and my brother, Ophi. It's nice to meet you."

Eight and Shauna
Shauna didn't notice the look on Rhia's face as the woman looked her over, she was watching her mother to make sure she came all the way. She pouted every time Eight paused to look at something on a rack. When she finally did make it over Shauna glomped her, wrapping her arms tightly around Eight's neck. This was something she was used to by now so Eight didn't even move except to put one arm around Shauna and patting her back a few times. She smiled and waved a few fingers to Cheyna when she introduced herself. "Hello, Cheyna." She chirped, letting go of Shauna. "And hello to you too, little one."

Eight blinked and looked up when her headwings were pointed out, frowning and folding them so they didn't take up so much space. "Unfortunately they come with the bloodline." She said, showing her obvious distaste towards them. "Everyone thinks they're so cool." Eight giggled.

"It's a pleasure to meet you all." The woman glanced down at Shauna. "So why'd you call me over? Need something?" Shauna grinned and nodded, her ears perked and the most hopeful look in her eyes.

"Can I shop with Chey and Ophi for awhile? You won't have to do anything, I promise." Eight looked very surprised...and a little dismayed. She wanted to go home and sleep! But if she said no Shauna would just whine and pout and be miserable for the rest of the day.

"...Sure, just call me if you need me." Eight said with a smile, ruffling Shauna's hair. The girl smiled and hugged Eight again, letting her go soon after. "Just behave, alright?" Not that she believed Shauna wouldn't.

Rhiannon Everwind, Chey and Ophi
Rhia suppressed the urge to roll her eyes, even if no one would have seen her do it, and simply shifted her weight from one foot to the other; tail flicking in annoyance. Besides, Cheyna seemed to be in high spirits and that was enough to keep the demoness quiet for now; it wasn't often her daughter was so genuinely carefree.

The blonde girl smiled as Eight giggled, nodding her head a bit and causing her crimson-streaked bangs to bounce up and down, "I can see why people like them, they're very unique."

"Yeah, real unique." Rhia commented dryly, setting Ophi down even though it was apparent he wasn't all that happy about it. She placed a slender hand against the top of his hood, fingers idly tracing the designs there. "You have fun with Chey, and don't go wandering off." She turned her gaze to her daughter, looking at the girl over the rim of her sunglasses, "Fr'chute l'eme, san'ya. Meisa se'ne ke'wa chu'vena se'va lok'na le'nosa."

"Ka'pa," Chey nodded, taking Ophi's hand. "Ary da'v, Ma'man."

Rhia's long ears flicked and she nodded a bit, back muscles shifting underneath her tanned skin as she rolled her wings a little. Arching her brow at Eight and Shauna and twisting her full lips a little, the rings there glinting, she turned and sauntered away without another word; tail swinging back and forth to match the movement of her hips.

"Sorry about that," Chey turned back to Shauna and her mother, giving them a slightly sheepish smile. "I'm still learning the language, unlike my brother, who seemed to get it all within a week. She lapses into it at times so I can practice, not really caring that no one else can speak it... she's really nice once you get to know her though, at least most of the time."

Ophi watched Rhia go for a moment before turning his slitted gaze back to Shauna and her mother. He found the tiny wings on Eight's head very strange, and wondered if her mother had forgotten that wings are supposed to go on your back, not your head. After all, Rhia had created Cheyna and her brother - along with the help of someone named Atsee, whom Ophi had never met - and their wings were in the right place, so perhaps whoever had created Eight gave her too small of wings and put them on her head by mistake.

He frowned, his expression looking much too intent for the face of a toddler, and shook his head a little, venturing, "You not hab... wins on yo back? Dey on yo head?"

Shauna and Eight
Shauna and Eight remained quiet while Rhia and Chey spoke in another language, exchanging a look of confusing for a moment before the two women were finally finished. Shauna waved to Chey's mother when she left, watching the demoness walk away. That was...interesting. She got the feeling it took awhile for her to warm up to someone. Oh well! If Chey said she was nice then she just had to be! Eventually.

"Oh? It sounds pretty!" Shauna said, smiling. The wings on Eight's head were anything but tiny, they were rather large and bothersome. Eight turned to Shauna and opened her mouth to say something to her, but Ophi stopped her with his questions. She nodded once and smiled, tugging on them a little.

"Mhm. But my mom has wings on her back and her head. Unfortunately I didn't inherit the backwings...just the headwings." She said with a sigh, ruffling Shauna's hair after answering Ophi's question. "I'm going to put everything in the car and then be in the foodcourt if you need me, okay?" Shauna nodded. That was good enough for Eight. Giving the girl another hug, the woman waved to Chey and Ophi and walked back across the store to where she'd left the bags.

"That went well! Now where should we start?"

Chey and Ophi
Chey watched Rhia leave as well, a knowing smile gracing her lips as her mother plucked the cigarette from behind her long ear and headed for the store’s entrance. Turning back to Shauna, she smiled, her own ears perking, "I could teach some of it to you, if you'd like."

It'd be neat to be able to speak the language with someone else besides her mother and brother, not that she didn't mind it being just the three of them. She figured maybe she should ask her mother first, as Rhia might not want everyone learning it, but what harm would it do to teach Shauna a few common words? After all, Rhia had taught some of it to Chey and Lin's father years ago.

"Bye, dog Mama." Ophi said once Eight was heading off into the store, waving the shirt in his hand after her, and his golden eyes flicked up to the blonde girl at his side when she laughed. Eight didn't look like a dog, but apparently the serpent child decided that if she were Shauna's mother, she had to have some dog in her somewhere.

Taking his hand, Chey gave the fox girl a bright smile, "I think we were going to look for some pants for him. My mom isn't very patient, so I'm not sure how long she'll let us stay here."

Shauna and Eight
"Really? Okay!" Shauna smiled, walking over to a nearby rack that had a green boy's shirt with a white snake with his own t-shirt and some big sunglasses saying 'Yo.' The fox giggled and picked the shirt up off the rack, holding it up for Chey and Ophi to see. "This is kinda cute!"

Eight paused at the door when she was called a dog, looking down at her tail to make sure it was still a raccoon tail. Oh well, he was just a child...children could get easily confused! Yeah! That's right. She grabbed the bags and picked them up, hitching a couple up to hold them more comfortably in her arms and walking out to the car. As soon as they were gone and she was well-fed she'd go and collect Shauna. "Yeah, my mom seems a little tired. She'll probably come back after eating the entire food court and then say it's time to go. We've got plenty of time on her part."

Time to Change...
Read the rp here!
This RP is still in progress, just putting the posts we have in the post now.

Eight
"...I've had my hair like this for so long..." Eight frowned, staring in the bathroom mirror wearing nothing but a fluffy bathrobe. Most of the mirror was fogged up except for what Eight had wiped away with a towel, her hair looked so much different than it usually did because all the gel and hairspray she usually put in it so it looked spikey like it always did had washed out. Some of it was plastered to her face, a large part of it sitting over her eye and completely covering it; the rest of her hair just sat a little past her shoulders, dripping water. Her hair had been styled like this since...she was...sixteen? No, just seventeen. Lately, however, it'd grown too long to be put up the way she liked it and...well...seventeen...eighteen...sure, it was just another year, another number, but there was a major difference to Eight. Surely she could find something new to do with it, her life was so much different now anyway with Alex around.

However, Eight wasn't going to be the only one getting a makeover today. Sighing and lifting some of her hair, the half demon let go and watch it fall back into place, watching some of it curl. Eight let out a breath of a chuckle. "So you want to be back to normal too, huh? ...Hm..." Yes, she'd been talking to her hair just then. Wiping the rest of the fog off the mirror with a towel, Eight fixed her robe a little and walked out of the bathroom into her bedroom, plopping down on the bed and picking up the phone. Time to call an old friend!

Ioyla and Ilistala
The phone rang. Ioyla snorted loudly and rolled over, snuggling deeper into her pillow. It was so late in the day, but still, the young demon was sleeping. Ilistala bounded into her mommy's dirty bedroom at the calling call of the telephone, leaping over dirty shirts and pants, eventually tripping on a pair of boots with spikey feet. She hit the floor with a loud thump!, sniffling a little. But still, mommy didn't wake up!

When Stala crawled onto Ioyla's bed, pounding pillows and sheets with chubby fists, Ioyla slept on. Annoyed, Stala poked the older woman's face. "Mommy," she breathed in her toddler-lisp, "bawh chaaa." Ioyla grunted, burying her head under the pillow. Still, the phone continued to ring. Ilistala smacked Ioyla's bare back until her mommy got the hint.

"Okay, okay! Christ child, I'm up!" Ioyla griped from under the sanctuary of her cushion. Ilistala leaned back, squealing delightedly, to give Ioyla room as she picked herself up on her elbows. The phone brayed its harsh jingle until the owner of said phone yanked it off the base. She stuck it against one cheek while the other cushioned itself in Ilistala's lap. The Shattered toddler coo'd and gurgled, petting her mommy's hair.

"Yeah, whaddya want?" she barked into the phone. ******** formalities!

Eight
Eight twirled a bit of hair around her finger and stared at it, listening impatiently to the phone ring over...and over...and over. What was she doing? Having sex with someone? Eight snorted at the thought, shaking her head at the thought. Ioyla wouldn't do that with 'Stala still there would she? Maybe she was still sleeping...damn. Another ring, Eight sighed and reached over to hang the phone up again.

"Yeah, whaddya want?"

Oh! She did answered! The half demon smirked and put the phone back to her ear, standing up and walking back into the bathroom to get the towel she'd left in the bathroom...wait...where'd it go? Whatever, she'd just take Alex's, it was only to dry her hair with. "Morning sunshine." She teased, bending over and tossing her hair up with it so she could carefully wrap the towel around her hair, she'd worked out a system so she could still do it even with the wings!

"Did I wake you or are just in a bad mood?"

Ioyla and Ilistala
Ioyla shifted about six times until she found a remotely comfortable position, one that left her hanging off the edge of the bed, upside down, with Stala bouncing, pleased as punch, on her stomach. She grunted each time the toddler bobbed a bit too hard. "Oh, it's you," she spat--with love, of course. "No, I'm in an okay mood, I guess. Just sleepy, that's all. You woke me up, devil woman!" Ioyla boo'd and hissed into the phone, elicting giggles from Stala, who had crawled off her mommy's tummy and onto the floor.

She busied herself with Ioyla's horns and wild brown hair, which was definately over-due for a makeover. "Ababababa," she babbled loudly, into the phone. Ioyla grimaced and held the contraption closer to Stala.

"What whazzat? We couldn't hear you, Stala; speak louder!" She giggled when Ilistala stared, confused, at mommy. Ioyla brought the phone back to her ear, still snickering. "Anyways, what? What's up? I was sleepin, man, I'm so tired, so if I didn't win the lottery or anythin, then I guess you hold no real purpose, and I guess I can start hating you."

Eight and Shauna
Yes, it's me. Were you expecting someone else? If so I can always hang up and try again later when you're not expecting~!" Eight smiled, rolling her eyes and curling up on her side when Ioyla started speaking. She'd figured she'd woken the woman up! "I see...don't call me a devil woman, clearly I have no devil heritage. You can't just sleep the day away! That'd be boring!" She blinked when there was suddenly a whole load of baby babbling in her ear, blinking and staring at the phone for a moment. Aww! it was just 'Stala! it'd been awhile since she heard her! She'd almost forgotten!

"Hey there, 'Stala!" Eight giggled, the name drawing the attention of a certain fox girl who just happened to be walking past her mother's room. Ilistala? Her cousin? Shauna gasped and opened the door a little, peeking around it at her mother who wasn't really paying attention right now. Eight just rolled her eyes at Ioyla.

"Why win the lottery when you have me you freeloader! Anyways...I was looking at my hair in the mirror and got to thinking, it's about time I change my hair style, hm? And I'm sure your hair could use a little attention too! So I was thinking, why don't we go get our hair done in Durem today, hm? How's that sound? My treat, like always." But then there was 'Stala...what would they do with her? She doubted Vanessa had any baby toys to keep the child happy until they were done with their hair...Eight frowned a little. She should've thought about that before she called.

"And I can watch 'Stala while you two are gone! I haven't seen her in forever!" Ioyla would hear a gasp of surprise and a thud...yes, Eight really hadn't noticed Shauna spying on her and had jumped off the bed onto the floor in surprise. Moron.

Ioyla and Ilistala
Ioyla kicked her feet as Stala continued playing with her mommy's hair. It was so soft but so messy! Ilistala gave it a light tug, eliciting yelps from Ioyla. The demon swatted away her child with a sharp hand, who giggled and swatted right back. Ioyla only turned back to the phone when a loud thump from the other end stole her attention.

"...you all right there, 'Nelope?" she asked, tumbling over the end of her own bed; however, Ioyla was far more graceful than her friend, and instead ended up in a slightly-less rumpled up pile of limbs beside her bed. She placed the telephone on the floor, muffling Shauna's voice, to climb off of herself. Ilistala stared with her huge orange eyes, hiccuping and giggling when Ioyla bumped her head on the wall.

"Ma!" Ilistala crooned, clapping her hands. Ioyla crawled back upon her bed and shot Stala a glare.

"Yes, yes, I know. Mommy so funny, I know." She swiped the phone off the ground and repositioned it back to her ear, just in time to catch the tail-end of Shauna's proclaiming her excitement of seeing Ilistala again. "Eight! Eight, we'll be there soon, 'kay?"

Eight and Shauna
Eight nodded, but soon realized that people couldn't hear nods. "Yeah, I'm okay. Shauna just startled me is all..." She sighed, standing up and settling on walking over to her closet instead. Shauna had told her time and time again that she didn't care if her mother got dressed in front of her, insisting that it was all things she'd see on herself one day, and frankly...she had a point. Besides, it was fun to let Shauna help her pick what to wear. The fox girl skipped over to Eight's bed and sat down, watching Eight pause and blink. "Are you okay?" The half demon listened quietly to the commotion on the other side, raising a red brow. That woman seriously needed to move one day, it would take awhile for her to get to Gambino from Aekea.

"Mmkay. Be careful~!" She chirped, hanging up the phone and turning to Shauna. "Alright! Have at it, girl!" Eight opened the closet and stepped aside, letting the fox hop up off the bed and slide over to the closet with her hands clasped innocently behind her back. "Hm...you know, your expressions are getting more fox-like every day...I'm not sure whether or not to be afraid...you could be plotting something." Shauna laughed, holding a cute red shirt up against her mother with a pair of black pants to see if they went together (The style, not the color. You know those pants that're short and all billowy? The ones everyone's wearing?). Obviously she liked that, because she handed the clothes to her mother and turned back to the closet. It was cold...so she'd need a jacket...this new red one would do nicely!

"Shall we try a hat~?" She joked, knowing there wasn't a single hat in this closet. Eight smiled.

"Good luck with that. I like these!" She already had a bra and panties on under the robe, so she just took off the robe and put on the clothes she'd been given. "...What shoes am I going to wear?"

"Sandals."

"...What?! It's too cold!" Shauna shrugged, ignoring the look her mother was giving her.

"You won't be outside long. You're taking your car, right? And it should be heated in the salon too."

Ioyla and Ilistala
She hung up after Eight did, moving the phone back to its cradle. Ioyla sighed loudly and flopped back onto the bed, rolling around and whining. "I don't wanna go it's too coooooold oh my gaaaahd!" Ilistala rocked back onto the base of her spine, watching Ioyla reel about the bed with mild confusion. Her mommy was weird.

Heaving a toddler sigh of her own, Ilistala picked herself up and flung her body onto the bed. She bounced a few times, then settled at Ioyla's feet. "Brrrre," she spluttered, gently patting her mother's ankles, as if she were consoling the griping demon.

"Yes, okay. We shall...get dressed. But first, to the shower!" Ioyla grabbed Stala by the back and pulled her up to chest level. Stala squealed and started her own whining, widly flailing her arms and catching Ioyla in the nose. "Ow!"

Ilistala giggled and continued wiggling until Ioyla stomped into the bathroom. For nearly an hour, the two wrestled in the shower, Stala screaming and carrying on, and Ioyla getting clubbed in the face every ten minutes. When the water turned off and the steam disappated, Ioyla's face looked as if she had been through a few rounds with a professional boxer.

Another twenty minutes, and the two were dressed, Ioyla in her signature pumpkin shirt, jeans, and sneakers, and Ilistala in her own favorite outfit: red shirt and black pants. There! Mother and daughter were ready to hit the town! The two bus hopped from Aekea to Barton Town, then from Barton to Gambino Island, and all without paying a damn fare. The bus company should've had their pictures up by now...

And, finally, after an hour of walking, Ioyla reached the Jenkin's house, Stala clinging to her back and giggling. "Horsey!"

"I know...horsey...okay..." Ioyla banged on the front door, wheezing, "Open the ******** door and lemme innnnn!"

Eight and Shauna
Eight and Shauna were watching tv when Ioyla and Ilistala arrived. She was curled up on her side with her head on Shauna's lap, munching on some chocolate she had left over from the batch she'd made for Alex; yes, Eight was dedicated enough to Alex to make chocolate for him instead of buying it...and damn...if she hadn't wrapped it up and put it out of sight knowing they were for her boyfriend, she'd just eat it all herself. It was good.

"I thought chocolate was bad for your skin." Shauna suddenly stated, trying some of the chocolate herself; she'd never had homemade chocolate before. Eight blinked and looked up at the fox, smiling and swallowing what she'd been eating.

"I've eaten so much chocolate in my life that if I don't eat chocolate for more than a few days I'll probably die of malnutrition." Both girls giggled at that, the ears of one and the wings of the other perking up when someone knocked on the front door. That must have been Ioyla, and she was lucky Eight hadn't heard what she was saying. The half demon sighed and got up, finishing off the chocolate she had before actually answering the door. Yes, she was being selfish!

"Hey Ioyla, hi 'Stala." Eight wiggled a few fingers in greeting Ilistala's way, smiling and stepping aside to allow the pair to enter. "You sure you'll be okay here by yourself, Shauna?" The halfling called, closing the door after her friend had entered and leading her into the living room where Shauna was still sitting watching tv. The fox gasped happily and held her arms out for Ilistala when the younger girl came into view, nodding with the brightest smile to Eight.

"Uh huh! I won't be alone! I'll have 'Stala and Suki, and Ngozi and all the other pets that live here! Remember? I won't be alone~! You two should hurry up now! Momma already set up an appointment for a certain time! I'll take 'Stala!" Shauna chirped, taking the child when she was offered her. She was getting so big!

Ioyla and Ilistala
Ioyla stumbled into Eight's home once the door was opened, hardly speaking, only murmuring slight gasps of breath. Jesus, she didn't get out much, did she? Ilistala squealed and rocked back and forth on Ioyla's back, beating her mother's ribs with her ankles in unison with each bouncing motion, Ioyla grunting each time a pair of feet connected with her sides. The demon followed her halfbreed friend into the next room, dumping Stala into Shauna's outstretched arms when she got the chance. She leaned against a wall, huffing, fanning her face.

"I'm tellin you, man, we're gonna move some day soon. Real close to you. I can't stand all this ******** walking!" She shot a tentive glance at Shauna and Stala's direction, adding quietly, "I mean freakin. Not, uh...the naughty word." She held back a cough, instead pushing off the wall to snatch Eight's hand, where she would swing it wildly in the air, back and forth. "Come along, 'Nelope," she mused, "we are wanted, in the Hair Salon! Vanessa's boobs call us!"

And then Ioyla happily flounced out of Eight's house, whether Eight was ready or not. Ilistala squirmed in Shauna's arms, trying to catch a final glimpse of her mother. "Abba!" the Shattered toddler squeaked, flailing her arms. She would eventually settle in Shauna's lap, staring at her (older?) cousin with huge eyes and a wide mouth. When the hell did this happen? The fact that Shauna was older now, and her, Ilistala, still a baby, only made her desire to be bigger more fierce. And it also made her incredibly cranky, as she suddenly burst into tears, making grabbyhands at anything out of reach: a pillow, the television remote, a piece of chocolate...

Eight and Shauna
Eight blinked. "The house next door is for sale..." She told Ioyla, relaxing when her friend grabbed her hand and started swinging it; she'd learned to just go with it instead of against it. The girl laughed out loud and covered her mouth, snickering a little. "You're so vulgar...but that's so true!" She giggled, stumbling when Ioyla suddenly dragged her out of the house. When they got outside Eight led Ioyla to the garage instead of down to the street, freeing her hand to open up the garage.

"Durem's so far, I figured we'd drive there instead. Much quicker and much more comfortable." She chirped, getting in and starting the car, she'd somehow managed to grab her keys and purse before they actually walked out, waiting for Ioyla to get into the car before putting it into reverse and pulling out of the driveway.

"Anything you have in mind? For your hair, I mean. Maybe we'll get something to eat afterwards." Eight was going to get something long...maybe...she'd grown so used to the way it was...

Shauna allowed 'Stala to turn and see her mother leave, holding her carefully. When the two women disappeared out the door and Shauna heard the car start and drive away, the girl looked down at her cousin. She blinked in surprise at the look on Ilistala's face, looking at herself to see what was wrong -- oh! The last time her cousin has seen her she was little like her! She giggled, leaning in and rubbing noses with 'Stala, smiling. "Tell you a secret~! Asra helped me get big like this, he granted my wish!" Lifting her head again, she tilted it to the side and playfully stuck out her tongue. "I'm sure he'll help you get bigger too! I wonder if you've met Asra..." Shauna mused, suddenly gasping when her little cousin started crying. Oh no! That wouldn't do! Bouncing the girl on her lap a little, Shauna cooed to her.

"Calm down, 'Stala! ...I know what'll cheer you up!" She chirped, standing up with 'Stala comfortably resting on her hip and carrying the girl upstairs into her room...straight into the plushie collection. "Ta da! You have to promise to me careful with these though! They mean a lot to me!" Shauna warned, putting 'Stala down on the floor with the plushies and sitting down with her.

Ioyla and Ilistala
Ioyla shuffled inside the car, grabbing shotgun and remaining silent until they were a safe distance from Eight's house. "House for sale, huh? Maybe. I don't got alot of money these days, y'know..." She trailed off and shrugged. "Maybe." Ioyla casually leaned against the back of the chair and fiddled with the lock, up down, up down, locked unlocked, safe not safe. Bored with the harrowing task of locking-unlocking the car door, her fingers ghosted to her seat belt, which she didn't put on.

"Maybe somethin short, I dunno," she replied to Eight's other question, shrugging again. Her hand then moved from the seat belt to her hair, mussing it, hardly bumping against the small horns poking from her mop of brown hair. The tips of her fingers glanced across the tips of her ears, and there they would find a slight...point to them. Not round, but angled. Steepled. She flashed Eight a worried glance, but soon forgot it when they entered Durem. Wouldn't be too long before they reached Vanessa's.

Meanwhile, Stala had been moved from her spot on Shauna's lap to the middle of a plushie cluster. The Shattered leaned back, gripping her ankles in unrestained joy. "Ahuuuu!" Ilistala yelped, bouncing to wobbly feet and running into the stuffed animal harem. She dived atop a giant bear doll, rubbing her face in the soft fur; her leathery wings pleasently beat at the air. Her skin, naturally warm, flared up to a soothing heat one would usually find in deserts.

Ilistala wormed her way between the great bears arms, sucking on her thumb. She wiggled a bit, indicating for Shauna to come sit with her. Talk more about Asra! her expression pleaded, what's he like? Will he make me a Big Girl, too?

Eight and Shauna
Wow! It wasn't very often that Eight got an answer like that when it came to money and Ioyla...was she growing up? Smiling, Eight rose a brow. "What law says I can't help you, you freeloader?" She joked, glancing over at her friend when they began driving over the bridge that linked Gambino to Barton and the rest of Gaia. "C'mon! It'd be...interesting, to say the least! And isn't it about time to move into a place with, say...a working stove?" Eight smiled.

Something short? Figures. Eight didn't really know what she wanted, to be honest...although she knew for sure she would never dye her hair another color. The fact that her hair was naturally this shade of red was something special! How many people had hair that was naturally this color? They were passing through Barton now, almost to Durem. "Something wrong?" Eight asked, having caught the look Ioyla had given her in the corner of her eye. She obviously didn't notice the slight change in her friend's ears.

The fox giggled at the scene before her. Ilistala was so cute! Putting her hands on her knees and leaning forward a little. "You like him too, huh? He's soft and cuddly isn't he?" Shauna cooed, petting 'Stala's hair for a moment before her thumb brushed against the girl's forehead. What the...she was warm. She blinked. "Are you always warm like this?"

Tilting her head at the way her little cousin wiggled, Shauna scooted over and hugged a Mozou plushie against her chest, using another plushie as a sort of pillow and curling up next to 'Stala. "Mm? You want to talk about Asra or something? I'm surprised you haven't met him!"

Ioyla and Ilistala
Ioyla shot Eight another nervous look, shaking her head. "S'nothin," she assured, shifting in her seat. Her a** was falling asleep....

But the remark about a certain freeloading, shotgun-riding demon caused an exagerated gasp and a hand to fling to her mouth for emphasis. "A freeloader? Me? Well, I never!" She made a move to jump out of the car--the moving car, no less--but quickly stopped when the comment about a working stove came up. She glared daggers at her old friend and lightly punched her in the arm. "Y'know, you're right. I think we will move. Yeah, yeah. Okay, awesome. We'll snatch that house right there up next t'ya and uh...live there." Ioyla grinned, wrapping her arms around Eight's shoulders, even though the red-head was still driving. She gave Eight a big hug, cuddling her cheek.

"I'll be in horrific debt, but who cares! I've been escaping the IRS this long, I'm sure they won't catch me or anythin. Whaddya think, my loooove?"

Back at Eight's house, Ilistala cuddled closer to her cousin. Her skin was always naturally warmer than most, and her tattoos were even warmer. The Shattered sighed and continued sucking her thumb, expectant to hear tales of the Great Loved Asra. No, she had never met him, but if he was the one who made Shauna a Big Girl, then Stala was more than ready to play with him!
Eight and Shauna
Eight blinked. "...Okay...if you say so..." Oh yeah, she totally believed Ioyla. Not.

The half demon blinked and looked away from the road to Ioyla when she moved like she was going to jump out of the car, rolling her eyes and looking back to the road. "Sounds like it'll be fun." She commented, smirking. She was actually caught somewhat by surprise when she was hugged, swirving for a moment before she nuzzled at Ioyla's cheek. What a sweetheart she could be sometimes. Sometimes.

"Heh. Surprised Meredith hasn't hired someone to kill you yet." Eight joked, pulling up to the hair salon and turning off the car.

"Aww! Aren't you just the sweetest!" Shauna squealed, hugging Ilistala and cuddling the girl on her lap. She really was abnormally warm! Just imagine if the girl had had a fever, it'd be impossible to tell! The fox hummed a little while and played with her cousin's hair, trying to think of how to start. ...Oh! Of course! "Alright! First, and foremost, he's a really nice fairy! He's got pink wings and pink hair, blue eyes and dark skin...like that teddy bear. Also, all he wears is a bunch of ribbons." She giggled.

Ioyla and Ilistala
And then they were in Durem. Ioyla lept out of the car, almost slamming her door shut. That frightening day with Page in Moira's shop was still fresh in her memory, so Ioyla wanted to get her hair done as fast as possible. She bounded over to Eight's side and yanked her out of the car, closed her friend's door just as hard, and bounced over to the hair salon in quick, airy steps.

"Meredith can kiss my skinny white a**!" Ioyla held Eight's hand, swinging their arms back in forth, like young lovers at the park, enjoying a romantic moment. The young demon continued on in silence, perhaps waiting for Eight's response, or perhaps the nasty look she was giving Moira's store taking up all her attention and energy. It didn't matter; in less than a minute, the two were in front of Vanessa's. Ioyla ran a hand through her chaotic hair.

"I'm gonna miss ya, crazy bedhead hair! It's time to lobbed off with the profesionally destructive scissors of Nessa...tally hoooo!"

And while Ioyla talked to her hair, Ilistala listened with undivided attention to her most favorite (and, frankly, only) cousin go on about Asra. Fairy? What the hell was a fairy? A look of confusion dawned Stala's face for a record two seconds, then vanished when Shauna continued.

Pink wings, huh? Like her own? Ilistala wiggled her own set of leathery wings, finding that these were not pink at all; on the contrary, they were quite black. Dark skin and blue eyes sounded very interesting, and Ilistala voiced her opinions on such with gurgles and an applause. "Athra! Baaaah!"

Eight and Shauna
Eight rolled her eyes, taking the key out of the ignition and opened the door to get out...only she was forced out by Ioyla instead. Stumbling to catch her footing again, the halfling blinked and stared at Ioyla with a confused look. "A bit impatient, are we?" She asked, following her friend's gaze to Moira's shop. Huh? "What? Did Moira not let you shoplift or something?"

Her attention was drawn away from why Ioyla was acting weird when her friend spoke again, giggling and rustling Ioyla's hair with both hands. "We knew thee well! C'mon, she's expecting us."

Shauna could see the confusion on 'Stala's face when she mentioned that Asra was a fairy. Hm...a fairy...oh! "A fairy is like...a person, but with pretty transparent wings. See?" She reached over to poke one of the tiny fairies that resided in her room, this one just happened to be Ai, the only fairy who actually had wings. Ai opened her eyes and blinked, yawning and fluttering her little wings. "You can go back to slee now~!"

Shauna giggled and squeezed Ilistala in a big hug, nuzzling her cheek against her cousin's. "That's right! Asra! He's the sweetest boy you could ever meet! He loves hugs and candy and colors and meeting cute little kids like you! I'm sure you'll meet him one day!"

Ioyla and Ilistala
While the two made their way to the salon, Ioyla hooked her hands into claws to grasp the front of her coat, as if she were a politician from the 19th centuary. "Impatient, my dahling!" she cried, chuckling heartily. What a dork. "I do say, that Moira's a b***h and I'm never gonna shop there ever again." She dropped her act and her hands, closing one into a fist for her to cough into.

"Anyways yeah. Let's get goin. Vanessa and her mighty boobs await." Ioyla linked the not-coughed on hand into one of Eight's hands, swinging their arms and pulling her forward, faster, to the salon.

What the hell was that? Ilistala leaned in close, observing Ai with huge eyes. What a tiny little creature! It looked sleepy. Stala reached out to pet its miniscule head, but was suddenly interupted by a crushing hug and a warm cheek against her own. "Calath?" she echoed (which obviously meant colors), "nuu. No! Achhh. Athra." Such a way with words.

Eight and Shauna
The half demon blinked. "Oh? She's always been nice to me...I remember the day I first met Asra and Shauna! It started raining but Moira didn't have any umbrellas, so we just hung out and had cookies and soda while we waited for the rain to pass." Then again, Eight had grown up in Durem and obviously met Moira a few times in her childhood.

"Vanessa's boobs are more like small continents." Eight laughed before the door was opened and Vanessa greeted them both. Hm...maybe Eight would have some fun with this. "Remember, dear, it's my treat!" She said before taking a seat in one of Vanessa's hair stations.

Ai smiled and rubbed her tiny head against Stala's hand, fluttering away to back to sleep after Shauna had hugged her little cousin. Stala's skin was already so warm, it'd be pretty scary to imagine how warm she'd be if the girl ever got sick with a fever. She'd probably set something on fire just by touching it! "Hm...I have an idea!" Letting go of the little girl to walk over to her bed, Shauna grabbed her most prized possession and brought it to Ilistala, sitting down next to her and holding Tabby in front of her. "Wanna play a game or something? I know you used to like this!"

Why don't they just rebel?
Read the RP here!
This RP is still in progress, just putting the posts we have in the post now.

Shauna and Eight
She didn't know why, but Shauna had insisted on coming to this place. Eight really had no clue why, honestly! She didn't! She saw much more interesting things at home with all the pets that came in every day, and even the other day another Mozou had poofed into their house out of another clay totem. This one they called Ai.

"Hey! Look at those! They look like...weasles." Shauna blinked, leaning over the fence to get a good look at some white ferret-looking animals with black tips on their tails. Eight glanced at the sign next to her daughter, stepping up to the fence after her with her hands tucked in her pockets. "What are they?"

"Look to your left and you'll find out." Eight said, smiling. "Aw, look. Those two are cuddling." She cooed, tossing her head a little to get her hair away from her eyes. Shauna did what she was told and read the sign. It read:
"Ermine
Common Names: Short-tailed Weasel, Stout, Royskatt
Genus: Mustela
Species: erminea
In the summer it is brown on the top and yellowish-white. The tip of the ermine's tail is black all year round. Their body is 15 inches long. The ermine is smaller than a cat (7 to 9 oz.) The ermine's body is as small as its head. If the ermine can fit its head into a hole, it can fit its whole body into it.
The males are bigger than the females. Baby ermines have to stay in the den for 30 to 45 days until they can come out.
Ermines are carnivorous. They eat small mammals, insects, and bird eggs. Ermines will eat young hares and rodents. During winter it stores its food underground."

"Huh...so they're little white weasles...?"

"Sounds like it." Eight blinked and turned, watching Shauna run off. She'd only noticed it because the girl had decided to put her hair into one big braid with two bells at the end.

Eight wanted to rip those bells to pieces.

"Where're you going?"

"To see other animals, of course! Come on!" Shauna grinned, coming back to grab Eight's hand and drag her away to see more animals.

Yes, they were at the zoo for once. It was all Shauna's idea, really. She wanted to do something new, something she didn't usually do...okay, she just wanted to see some real foxes, maybe even hold one.

Jerava, Aurion and Anarya
Jerava's ears twitched slightly as she heard bells approaching, and moved off to the side of the wide road/path that she'd been standing on. Thankfully, only Aurion, who was holding Anarya, was still with her, and the Tahnee had already moved off to the side, his hearing even better than the elf who had adopted him. Jer flicked open her pocket computer, looking at the map of the zoo, attempting to once again find the snake house, which is where Arya had wanted to go. At least, that's what her mum had assumed the girl meant by 'Snake!' when the family had arrived at the zoo earlier.

"Fox," Arya said, pointing at Shauna. "Dif'ent fox," she continued as Jer quirked an eyebrow and looked - Aurion was, after all, a Tahnee fox, but where Shauna had a reddish tail and ears, he had snowy white ones, with black tips. "'Lo!" Arya cried out, waving happily. Aurion rolled his eyes slightly and shifted the girl - she'd said hi to everyone they'd come across, and been disappointed when most didn't return her greeting.

Jer was more tolerent of the child's behavior; it was a far cry from Elena, who had a tendency to be overbearing and somewhat haughty when first meeting someone, although she had gotten much better about that, apparently deciding that good princesses were gracious and polite. And Elena really wanted to be a good princess.

Eight and Shauna
Just...a little...closer...damnit! Eight missed them again. Eight really wanted to get those bells out of Shauna's hair, and she'd been trying the whole time they'd started looking at the other animals; the thing is, every time she got close enough to grab them Shauna turned her head.

Shauna's ears suddenly perked up, however, when she heard a child call out in their general direction, gasping and clapping her hands together underneath her chin. "Hi~!" Oh, what a little darling! And she even had a...was that a snake for a tail? How interesting! And this girl was such a firey little child, she had a feeling she'd be a very good friend for Ilistala. Shauna changed her route from the animals nearby to the little girl and the group she was with, smiling warmly. Eight came with her of course, ignoring how Shauna's bells jingled with every step.

She would get those bells out of her hair, damnit!

Jerava, Anarya and Aurion
"'Lo fox," Arya said, waving her little arm enthusiastically. "Two foxie!" she said excitedly, wiggling in Aurion's arms, her tail curled around the Tahnee's arm in a slightly vain effort to keep the Shattered child from falling. After all, if she was going to fall, odds were her tail wasn't going to be enough to save her.

"Yes, two foxes," Aurion said somewhat dryly. He'd learned early on to be tolerent of Arya's more extroverted behavior, even though he preferred not to talk to everyone who walked by.

For her part, Jerava was content to watch and not speak, although she was certainly close enough to do so if the situation warrented it, or if she needed to introduce herself.

"Pretty fox~" Arya crowed, her wings flaring out to the side, flamed feathers dropping off and disappearing before they hit the ground. "Fox make noise," she continued, eyeing the bells curiously.

Eight and Shauna
"Foxie? Me?" One of those brief moments where one forgets what they are, Shauna smiled and wagged her tail a little. "Yup! Two foxies!" It was then that she realized she'd just walked over like she knew these people, suddenly blushing and putting her hands on her cheeks, the girl looked up at the woman and fox Tahnee with a sheepish smile on her lips.

"Oh my! I'm sorry! I guess I wasn't exactly paying attention!" She apologized, laughing a little and rubbing the back of her head. When the little girl pointed out the bells in her hair, Shauna giggled and held the end of her hair just above the bells, leaning forward and jingling the little things in front of the little girl. "Pretty cool, huh? I'm Shauna!"

Damnit! Those bells caught everyone's attention! Eight sighed and shook her head, crossing her arms over her chest, leaning into one leg and tilting her head to the side. She was also just content to watch them interact.

Jerava, Anarya, Elena and Aurion
"Foxie foxie foxie," Arya said in a sing song, reaching a hand out to bat at the bells. "Arya," she declared, pointing at herself in case Shauna didn't realize who she was naming.

"She's Anarya, and I'm Aurion," the Tahnee said, shifting the toddler in his arms slightly. "It's nice to meet you, miss," he added with a slight bow, careful not to tip Arya out of his arms and onto the ground.

"And I'm Elena," another voice said, clear and bell like in tone. The speaker came around a bend in the path, dressed in a long navy blue skirt that brushed the ground as she walked, with a silvery t-shirt embellished with blue thread. Behind her came another Tahnee - this one a sardonic looking vampire, clearly the one assigned to escort the girl around the zoo. "Mum, the theater's closed," she said petulantly to the elf. "So I can't go watch the movie," she ended, tapping her foot imperceptably.

"So go find something else to do?" Jer suggested with a lazy grin. "This is a large zoo, after all."

Shauna and Eight
Shauna giggled, putting her fingertips to her lips. "Little children are so cute!" She chirped, allowing the firey girl to hold the bells as long as she was careful not to pull too hard on them. "It's nice to meet you, Ary--Anarya!" She corrected herself when the Tahnee repeated the girl's name correctly. Shauna pointed at Eight. "That lady back there's my mom, Eight!" Eight's headwings twitched a little and she blinked, finding herself suddenly being mentioned out of nowhere. Oh wait...she was being introduced.

The fox jumped a little when another voice spoke up, peeking around the Tahnee to find a lovely girl standing with the other woman. Wow! Were those stars in her hair?! Cool! "The aquarium?" She suggested, then looked down for a moment to check on her bells at Ana, gasping softly. "Is that a snake?" Obviously she couldn't tell it was the girl's tail.

Elena, Aurion and Anarya
Elena wrinkled her nose; she didn't think Arya was cute at all. But maybe she'd think someone else's little sibling was cute. Or maybe not, she tended to prefer people who were able to express their adoration for her.

Arya giggled and thumped the bells together, not really paying attention to whether or not she was pulling too hard. "Hihi~" she chirped at Eight, waving a hand still occupied with a bell.

"Um?" Elena replied intelligently. "Sure, I guess," she continued, still unhappy that she'd missed out on seeing the movie. Dyran supressed a smile at the girl; she didn't like to think she was being mocked.

"Tail!" Arya said, dropping the bells to tug her tail out for Shauna to see. "Snakeytail." Said appendage hissed in greeting, blinking it's black eyes.

Eight and Shauna
Shauna's ears flicked every time the bells were rung so close to her head, it was probably from irritation to the sound due to her hearing being so sensitive. Her hair was so long now that it hadn't mattered when the bells were ringing behind her back and farther from her head than they were now. Eight smiled sweetly and waved to the firey little girl. "Hi there."

Elena wasn't being mocked, Shauna was merely making a suggestion on something else that the girl could do! She liked this girl's hair, it was beautiful with those...were those stars? Wow! "Wow! A tail that hisses and everything! That's so cool." Shauna held her fluffy tail and pulled it around so Ana could see some of it, smiling brightly. "I've just got a fluffy tail. It doesn't say anything."

Anarya, Elena, Dyran, and Aurion
"Hihihihi~" Arya chirped at Eight, waving her tail a bit, to which it responded with an irritated hiss.

Dyran was still smiling when Elena kicked him in the shins, lightly, while smiling sweetly. The vampire winced and directed a glare at the girl. "What was that for?" he hissed at her, very manfully not rubbing the sore spot.

"Because you didn't think of anything else to do," she said imperiously, flipping her hair around to get it all behind her shoulders. With the motion, the stars in it sparkled to life, which was clearly visible in the shaded area she was standing in. Or under, if you took into account she was standing under a tree.

"Fluffytail," Arya echoed, patting Shauna's extra appendage with her hands. "Fluffysoft!" she squealed happily, wiggling in Aurion's arms in an attempt to bury her face in the fox tail.

"Careful," the Tahnee said, readjusting his hold on her. "Don't want you to fall."

Eight and Shauna
Shauna blinked and looked up when she heard a hiss, putting a hand over her mouth. Oh dear! That wasn't exactly nice or lady like. Her attention was drawn away from the vampire and Elena when she felt a hand on her tail, giggling and nodding. "Isn't it?" She smiled. "My mom's got one too! And my dad!" She remembered when she was small enough to hide under that tail! It was fun!

When Aurion moved Ana around to hold her better, Shauna blinked. Holding children was hard for her sinc she wasn't as big as an adult...but he looked older than her! Would holding children properly always be hard? "I can hold her if you want!" She chirped, smiling. Eight blinked. Oh dear...that meant Shauna would want to spend the entire day with them...and that meant that they'd be walking soon...and those bells! "We were going to go into that giant bird habitat over there! Wanna come? Maybe we'll be able to pet some birds!" It was one of those rooms that they just let the birds fly free inside a caged environment...cage being high quality chicken-wire, of course.

Elena, Dyran, Aurion, Anarya and Jerava
Elena continued to glare at Dyran, who now looked unruffled and calm, completely unbothered by her annoyance.

"Mum has tail. Not fluffytail," Arya said, patting Shauna's tail happily.

"She's wiggly," Aurion warned the other fox, handing Arya over to her. "And watch out for the wings," he added as Arya flapped her in midpass.

"Bird!" Arya chirped, wiggling a bit. "Bird please?" she asked Aurion, before looking over at her mum.

"Alright," Jer said with a nod. "Elena, why don't you come with us? Since you're so bored," the elf added with a lazy drawl towards her older daughter.

"Fine," she snapped out before regaining control. "I'd be happy to come along," the girl added in a honeyed tone. Jer chuckled and pushed herself off the fence she'd been leaning on.

"Where's the aviary at?" she asked, tail flicking around as she looked.

Shauna Jenkins
"Wiggly isn't a problem!" Shauna chirped, taking Anayra when she was handed over, settling her comfortably on her hip--that was getting a bit easier now that her body was growing older and developing into a more womanly figure until it was her time again--Shauna tickled under Anarya's chin. "You just want to flap your wings and fly away, eh?" She teased with a smile.

Shauna smiled when Elena agreed to come with them to see the birds, bouncing the child on her hip to hold her more comfortably. The fox girl looked around for a moment when Anarya's mother asked where the birds were, pointing with one arm at a large habitat nearby. You couldn't really hear the birds over the crowd. "There they are! C'mon let's go!" She cheered, waiting for everyone else to follow after her and hurrying along the path--she was careful of Anarya--to the aviary. Yay for birds!

Aurion, Arya, Elena, Dyran and Jer
"That's good," Aurion added with a chuckle as Arya bounced a bit on Shauna's hip before settling down to stare around her.

"Fly 'way bad," Arya said solemnly, looking at Shauna with big eyes. "No fly 'way," she added with a giggle, patting Shauna's side reassuringly. Elena rolled her eyes and heaved a melodramatic sigh before trudging over to Jerava, who was walking towards the indicated area.

Muuuum, why did we have to come to the zoo anyway? Elena whined, dragging her feet as Dyran walked silently beside and slightly behind her.

"Because getting out of the house every once in a while won't kill you," Jer replied, holding open the door so Elena could precede her into the aviary. "And in fact, might be good for you," she added, going in herself.

Aurion walked near Shauna, keeping an eye on Arya, who was having fun with being at a different height, as the Tahnee fox was a bit taller than the girl now carrying her around. "Birdy," Arya said, pointing at a bird flying right next the 'netting' screening the aviary in. "Birdy like me?" she asked, attempting to look at her own wings, squirming around while doing so.

Eight and Shauna
Shauna smiled and playfully tapped the little girl's nose. "Flying away isn't always a bad thing." She whispered softly, hitching Ana up a little more comfortably on her hip as they walked. "In fact, I'm kinda jealous! You have pretty wings."

Eight followed quietly along with the group, watching her daughter with a smile. How cute. "You're not a birdy, silly! You're a little girl! But it does kinda have your wings, doesn't it? Isn't it pretty~!"

...What in the world...

The room...was in shambles.

Had a hurricane hit? Indoors? In that one particular room? Yes, and it was a very special hurricane by the name of Hurricane Shauna. The poor girl, she had yet to find her dream catcher, and so her dreams were plagued by little glimpses of the same girl from previous dreams. This girl terrified her to no end, the way she behaved and looked...every so often the girl in her dreams looked in a mirror after inhaling a white, sugary substance (Shauna had a feeling she knew what it was) to make sure that there wasn't any left on her face or visible to anyone else. She had the brightest blue eyes Shauna had ever seen, and her hair was dyed black. Shauna could only tell because someone had checked the roots once and they were brown, so they touched it up so they were black again.

Now she had to find her dream catcher! Shauna was sick of seeing this girl almost every night. The fox had searched under her bed, all in her closet, under every item in her room, on her bed, through her dresser...everywhere. It wasn't until she knocked over a lamp that someone actually noticed that something was up and came in to check on the poor girl. Fortunately for her it wasn't Eight that came in, it was the dark Kira, wearing a veil over her face to keep the sun out of her eyes.

"...What on Gaia happened in here?" She gasped, putting her hands over her mouth. Everything was a mess! Shauna wasn't normally this destructive! "Were you...attacked?!" Kira's cry was heard by the house's resident pirate girl, poking her head out of the door in the next room. She'd noticed the noises in Shauna's room...but she hadn't paid them much notice until dearest Kira had cried out in horror.

"What's goin' o--holy hell!" Nerissa jumped up and clutched at her heart in a dramatic act, staring around at the...disaster zone. "Ooooh. Mom ain't gonna be happy 'bout this one!" The little pirate snickered, smirking.

"Can it, Rissa. I'm not in the mood today." Shauna growled, glaring daggers at the pirate Tahnee. Kira, and even Nerissa, stared at Shauna in shock. This...this girl was too sweet to speak to them like this! The fox continued on with her search as if nothing had happened, and Kira turned her head just slightly to get a good look at the look on Nerissa's face. Nerissa didn't know what to do...Shauna had just...told her to shut up. No one had ever told Nerissa to shut up! Her mouth opened and closed like a fish's, blue eyes widened into almost perfect circles.

"You...I..." Her eyes flashed, growling and curling her fists. "I'm telling Mom!" She yelled, breaking into a run down the hall to their mother's room. There was a loud poof noise and the sound of something exploding, and Nerissa could also hear the shower in the attatched bathroom running...damn...but what was that poof? It hadn't come from this room...it'd come from...the kitchen? Weird. Sighing, Nerissa ran into the bathroom. Just what she thought, Eight was in the shower...and from the single silhouette in the shower door she was alone this time; it seemed one of the other children had found out the hard way that Eight and Alex sometimes opted to take a shower together. Putting on her most pathetic face and banging her fists on the shower door. Eight screamed, and Nerissa could have sworn she heard the half demon slip, but her form never actually fell. The half demon opened the door and stuck her head the door.

"What is it, Nerissa?"

"Shauna told me to shut up!" She whined. Eight sighed and shook her head, pulling her head back into the shower and closing the door again. "I mean it this time! Her room's a big mess and she said 'Can it, Rissa!' when I asked her what happened to her room!" Well it was...mostly true. That last detail was the lie. Finally, after what seemed like forever, the water shut off and Eight opened the door enough to grab a towel off the nearby rack and wrap it around herself before she stepped out of the shower.

"If what you say it true, then I'll go talk to her." Eight shooed Nerissa out of the bedroom so she could get dressed, leaving the room later. Nerissa was standing patiently at Eight's door when the woman exited the room, following after the redhead to the disaster zone that was once Shauna's room. Eight's eyes grew wide at the sight; Nerissa was telling the truth? That was...rare.

"...Sweetheart." Shauna looked up, looking about ready to tell off the person addressing her until she discovered it was her mother. The fox frowned. Kira stepped aside silently to let Eight walk into the room and look around. Nothing...appeared to be broken...however all of Shauna's clothes from both her dresser and her closet were scattered everywhere...plushies were tossed around, her mattress was out of place...the room was a mess. "What have you done in here?" She asked, one brow raised as she turned to Shauna.

"I..I'm trying to find my dream catcher! But it isn't in here!" She growled, clinging to Eight's leg and burying her face into the woman's thigh. Eight sighed.

"Nightmares?" Shauna nodded. "...I wish I knew someone who could help, darling...but I don't...if Shanti could I'm sure she'd help...but...I'm sorry." Eight gave the room a quick onceover. This would take forever. "But this isn't how you go about finding your dream catcher...I want you to clean this. All of it. This whole room."

"But--"

"No, Shauna. You made this mess, you clean it up. I'm not going to help you out." Eight reached down and pulled Shauna up to her feet, taking the girl's hand and leading her down to the kitchen. "You skipped breakfast just to do this, didn't you? Come, we'll get you something to eat and then you'll start on cleaning you room. Do it right after you eat and perhaps you'll get it done before dinner." Shauna frowned, staring at the ground as she allowed her mother to lead her downstairs and into the kitchen. She really had messed up this time, hadn't she? What was she thinking when she destroyed her room just to find an object to keep nightmares away? It'd be worth it in the end, sure but...her room. Maybe she should see a psychiatrist or something, or was there someone who could really read dreams and nightmares? You never know, there're a ton of different creatures, races and people in Gaia, but what were the chances of her finding someone like that? Sighing, Shauna leaned against the wall when the two of them reached the kitchen. She hadn't looked up from the ground since Eight had taken her hand.

It's all that girl's fault! Shauna thought bitterly, sliding down against the wall until she was sitting on the floor and her face against her knees and her arms wrapped tightly around them. Eight was searching through the freezer for chocolate ice cream, finding the brand of ice cream Shauna liked and setting that down on the counter. She then opened the fridge to get out the milk, closing that to grab the blender. It was time for Shauna's favorite! A chocolate milkshake! Something suddenly snuck out from under the table, looking very hesitant and scared. It blinked, spotting Shauna and creeping over to the girl huddled by the wall. Was something wrong with her? She looked sad.

It nudged at her leg. Shauna jumped, startled, lifting her head to find a tiny...Mozou? Another one? Smiling weakly and reaching out with one hand, the fox girl tickled at the little Mozou's nose. "Hey there cutie...Momma?" Shauna's voice was quiet, almost as if speaking would ruin the somewhat good mood her mother seemed to be in. Eight's headwing twitched and she turned her head to look at Shauna, blinking. Where'd that one come from? "...Can I keep him?" She asked, wrapping her arms around the Mozou and tugging him onto her lap like a toy. Mozou were so soft, and this one smelled like...sushi? Whatever. The soft and squishyness of the creature was a comfort, feeling him purr against her and lick at her cheek.

"I guess...you've been wanting a pet of your own, haven't you? Go ahead, just give him a name and he's yours...you might want to take him out of here before I turn on the blender." Eight said, scooping the ice cream into the blender, then pouring the milk. Shauna nodded and gathered her new pet in her arms, carrying him out of the kitchen and back upstairs to what was once a liveable bedroom. Her ears twitched when she heard the blender finally start up downstairs.

"Sake...your name'll be sake...you remind me of sushi." Sake blinked.

"Su...si?"

"Sushi. It's...fish." Shauna corrected him, sitting Sake on a beanbag chair so she could get a head start on the cleaning. She figured she'd start with her clothes, picking up hangers and jackets first. "Come to think of it...there was a picture of some sushi Pan left on the counter after she helped teach me some cooking tricks yesterday." She shrugged, hanging up the first three jackets she found. There was a pile of shirts and skirts on one side of the room, things that Shauna would get to once the closet was filled up again.

"Hm...maybe I'll ask around. Find out if anyone knows someone who's good with dream-reading or...translating...whatever it's called." She sighed, looking back at Sake to find the Mozou on his back...well...sort of. He was on his back, but his neck was twisted so he could at least try to watch Shauna rightside up, and the rest of his body was twisted the opposite direction. Shauna giggled. "You're so cute...I better hurry up with this. I really screwed up this time." Shauna shook her head again, pushing stuff that had found its way into the hallway back into the room they belonged in and closed the door. No disturbances. Shauna was going to work.

Shauna meets Teagan!

Teagan
Teagan panted as he came around the starting line for the fourteenth time that morning. It was still early, barely six am, and the fog hung heavy over the track. The pollution of the city air tended to stay away from the valley the athletic park was built in, but it still tinted the sky an interesting pinkish grey in the hour or so before sunrise. He was sweating, despite the cool temperature, and as he slowed down by the bleachers to see if Ilori and Isaura were ready to run yet. They were still asleep, so he left them that way, grabbing his towel to wipe off his face. Tossing the towel back down beside them, he took another drink from his water bottle and stretched for another few laps. His mother called him crazy, working himself this hard, but he didn't think so. He wasn't smart like Dee, or artistic like Kuroi or Shiro, sports were all he had, and he wasn't going to let that slip away just by slacking off. The teenage lemur was clothed in a pair of black running shorts, loose mesh that came down about to his knees, and had originally been wearing a grey tank top. The tank top however, had been shed in favor of bare skin, which he found more comfortable. He wouldn't run bare-chested later on though, he was a bit self-conscious about the short grey and black hair that it now sported. Ul told him it was nothing to be embarassed about, that it was perfectly normal, but gymnasts were supposed to be smooth and sleek, so he found it odd.

Shauna
Not again! It'd been a fine day, uneventful, but fine! And then Eight's Felis just had to go and ruin it! Serenia and Verin had ganged up on Shauna's poor little Mozou and frightened him half to death, chasing him out of the house and making Shauna run after him to catch him. For a little guy he sure ran fast...and far. She couldn't stand to run in her dress since it was so short, so instead she'd opted to quickly change into a maroon tanktop and white shorts to chase after Sake in. "Come on, Sake! It's me!" Shauna called after the sushi Mozou, not even noticing the older boy and two others that were in the park she had just ran after Sake into.

"Almost...eep!" She'd reached out to grab some part of Sake, but the Mozou quickly turned and darted away to head for the bleachers to hide under them. "Sakeeeee!" Shauna whined, skidding to a stop to turn and leap at the Mozou, rolling a few feet with him until fox won over Mozou and Sake was panting in Shauna's arms. "Finally!"

Teagan
Teagan blinked, grabbing for his jacket at the sight of the sudden new arrival. He blushed, trying to cover his chest, "H- Hello." It was strange for the boy to be embarassed about anything really, with how he acted and treated people on a regular basis. He wasn't the shy type, but it was that one thing that bother him. Besides, it was strange for a fox-like girl and a, whatever that was, to burst onto the track like that. Normally one ran on a track, not onto it. Ilori and Isaura stirred, but simply pulled their blankets up closer and continued with their nap.

Shauna
Shauna blinked and sat up, blushing with embarassment. Oh dear...had he seen that whole thing? "Uh..hi!" She squeaked, standing up and brushing herself off with one hand while she held Sake safely against her with her other arm. The fox looked around after a moment, having really not paid attention to where she had run to...a track? That was odd, she didn't expect there to be one within running distance...she blushed even more. At least there was only this boy around and not an entire crowd of people! "Er..sorry if I disturbed you! I uh...had to catch this guy." She bounced Sake in her arms and the Mozou frowned, hanging his head in shame. "I really had no idea where I was going..."

Teagan
He blushed, forgetting about his jacket since she hadn't intended to embarass him. Of course, he may have also forgotten simply because he wasn't all that bright, but either way, he forgot. "That thing's.... Interesting." He managed, then glanced up at the sky. "I uh. I should probably get back to running. The sun'll be completely out soon and then it'll get hot and more people will come and. Well, you probably know, you look like a runner." Damn silly hormones messing up his brain, he'd hardly been able to say a complete sentence without making a fool of himself. His mother had told him it'd get better, but it seemed to be getting worse instead.

Shauna
"Isn't he? We've got a whole bunch of others like him at home!" Shauna smiled, feeling a tad less embarassed now. "This one's Sake...the runt of the group, he's kind of scared of everything that moves." She giggled and shook her head. Her ears perked up at the boy's statement, looking up at the sky. "I should be thankful that Sake ran out now instead of later. I'd be covered in sweat right now." And it was much too early to be covered in sweat.

"..I do?" Shauna looked down at herself. She didn't know it was that obvious. "I only started running recently, but I've always been kind of fast. Helps with sneaking around my house!"

Teagan
He nodded, pointing to her legs, "Your calves. I just notice stuff like that." Stretching his arms up, he took a deep breath and yawned a bit, "Want to run a lap with me? I'm sure that little guy'll be fine here, it doesn't take long to run just one lap. The track's about a quarter mile around." Maybe he shouldn't be roping people into his hobbies, but she said herself she'd recently started running, so a little practice would be good, right?

Teagan
Shauna smiled, walking over to the tailed boy and putting Sake down. The Mozou looked up at Shauna for a moment and then hopped up onto the bleachers, curling up in a tight ball. "Okay!" She chirped, pausing for a moment. She was forgetting something...but what was it? She'd already run, and the run had warmed her up...she'd stretch in a minute.

Gah! Now she remembered what she was forgetting! "I'm Shauna, by the way!" They'd forgotten to do the first thing you're supposed to do when you meet someone!

Teagan
Tea smiled, reaching down to touch his toes. When he straightened back up, he held his hand out, "My name's Teagan, but you can call me Tea. It's nice to meet you Shauna." There, exactly like momma had taught him. He still wasn't that good at introductions, but he was getting better.

Shauna
"Nice to meet you too, Tea!" Shauna took the offered hand to shake it. After she let go, she bent down to stretch her legs out. They didn't need too much stretching since she'd run so far, a glance was cast at Sake and then the two...fairies? "Sisters?" She asked, shifting from one leg to her other leg after gesturing to the two girls.

Teagan
He nodded, "Yeah. My baby- I mean, my little sisters, Ilori and Isaura. I guess they're not so little anymore. They still follow me around though." It was amusing to him, that they toddled along behind him even when they had no interest in what he was doing. His legs were still stretched out and ready, so he didn't bother doing any extra stretches, just poised himself on the starting line, hands placed square to his shoulders on the ground.

Shauna
Shauna giggled. "I know the feeling." Only in her case it was a little creature by the name of Sake. She hopped back up after she felt she was properly stretched out, walking over to Tea and taking the same stance as him. "You look ready for a race." Which didn't matter either way, she was fine with racing or just running a lap.

Teagan
He smiled, "I just do it, don't know why." Rocking back from his back foot onto his front, he counted off in his head, "I think just running would be best, I get kind of mean racing. Comes from running with my little cousin, Jack. Ready?"

Shauna
Mmf, her hair kept getting in her face like this. Shauna got back up and help up one finger to signal for Tea to wait, taking her hair out of the two braids it was in. She put the hairtie around her wrist for now, putting all her hair (Which was a lot of hair, mind you) into a bun on top of her head. After that she got back down into her former position, nodding to the other. "Now I am! ..Oh, really? I wouldn't know. My cousin can hardly walk!" Shauna giggled, her tail flicking with excitement. She'd never run with another person before.

Teagan
He nodded, looking ahead at the track, "Yep, he's just a toddler, but he can almost outrun me." Alright, time to focus Tea. He popped one of his ankles that had been bothering him, and then took a deep breath, "Alright, we'll sprint to that curve and then slow down to jogging pace. That sound good?" He didn't know how well conditioned the girl was, so he didn't want to start with something too tough.

Shauna
Sprint then jog...that sounded simple enough. Shauna smiled and nodded, using one hand to fix her top then put it back down in its original place. "That's fine! You ready?"

Teagan
Tea nodded, "Yep. Here goes. 1. 2. 3." On three he took off at a dead run, keeping his arms close to his body and his tail loose. He probably should have waited to see that she was following, but he didn't, pressing his ears down against his head to keep them from catching the wind like they seemed to do so easily.

Shauna
Her ears flattened against her hair and Shauna let her tail go limp, breaking into a run the moment she heard three. Tea was faster than her, so she had to sprint hard if she wanted to keep up with him when they started to slow down at the curve. It was fun to run like this, and barefoot nonetheless! Poor Shauna couldn't wear shoes with paws for feet.

Teagan
Tea felt a bit bad about outrunning her, so he slowed down a bit, keeping up a fast, but not insane pace. "You doing ok?" He called, noting the end of the bleachers coming up on his right side. There was still a little ways of their sprinting route left, and then they could both slow to a jog.

Shauna
...He was slowing down? Shauna pouted, speeding up a little more. "Yeah!" She was just a little tired from running so far earlier it seemed. The fox looked past Tea to see how much more of the track they were going to sprint...not too much. Tea was older, it sort of made sense he'd have more experience running and be faster than her.

Teagan
He pushed himself now that there was only a stone's throw left, sprinting as fast as he possibly could. Nearly barreling off the track, he had some trouble with depth perception, he skidded to a stop and then started off on a slow jog, panting from the rush. "Sorry about that, couldn't help it. Coach always tells me to push past my limits whenever possible." He called, knowing the girl could catch up to him if she wanted to.

Shauna
It didn't take too long for Shauna to catch up to Tea, slowing to a nice jog when she finally reached him. "It's okay..." She said, trying to catch her breath afterwards. This took longer than it normally did because excitement and the running was making her heart race and her breathing quicken. "Understandable! Actually, that was pretty fun! ...Your coach?"

Teagan
Tea nodded, speeding his jog back up to his normal pace, "Yeah, Coach Miles." He said, slowing his breathing back to a good level, "I'm a gymnast." It was more fun to run with someone else, he was enjoying this.

Shauna
Shauna grinned, her ears perking up. "Really? Cool!" Her breathing, for the most part, was under control now that they were jogging instead of sprinting. Shauna would probably come to this park more often now, it was better to run with people instead of running by yourself. "Have you won anything?"

Teagan
He flicked his tail, showing a proud smile, "Yeah actually." Blowing his hair out of his face absently, he went on, "I went to a competition a little while ago and won two silvers and a gold. What about you, ever try any sports?"

Shauna
"I haven't yet, but I was thinking I might sometime! Apparently I disappeared once that I don't really remember too well anymore, so my mom's still a little hesitant to let me out to do anything. I only recently earned permission to be able to walk to friend's houses and the mall on my own." She rolled her eyes. Shauna's ears flicked a little, reaching up briefly to tuck some hair out of her face. "Two silvers and a gold. Impressive! Think I can come and watch you sometime?"

Teagan
He loosened his arms up a bit since he didn't need to be as aerodynamic just jogging, "Sure, why not. I can always use more people to cheer me on. It really helps." The sun was starting to rise, and the bite was taken out of the air a bit, but it was still pleasant, "I spooked my mom when I was a toddler, kept getting pretty sick, but it hasn't happened since then. Well, I still get bad dreams and fevers sometimes, but I don't tell her about them. I don't want her to worry."

Shauna
Great! Now she could help cheer on a new friend! "Just let me know when!" She smiled, looking at Tea as he explained how he spooked his mom. Shauna frowned a little. "Really? I've been getting nightmares lately too. It's not fun at all, I had a dream catcher but it disappeared." She shrugged a little at that. She'd make one for herself, but she wanted to make some for others before she went about making herself one; that and she'd grown attatched to her old dream catcher. "I can make one for you if you want? They actually work!" There were plenty of people around who didn't believe they worked, so Shauna just added that just incase.

Teagan
He smiled, taking note of the half mark approaching on the track. At it, he would speed up a bit, and chances are she would too, without noticing the change. He'd been getting steadily faster as they went, but never enough that it was noticeable, just an extra step here, a strong push off there. "Sure, why not. I've tried everything else," He said, sincerely believing that a dreamcatcher would help.

Shauna
"Mmkay! I'll start it when I get home!" Quiet the list of dreamcatcher recipients she was making. Shauna could start her own shop! She'd be rich! Not that she was really interested in making a profit off dreamcatchers. "Do you run here every day?"

Teagan
He nodded, turning to look ahead at the track as he tucked his arms in again and sped up a few steps. "Yeah, every morning and every evening. Always the same times. It's still cool then. I go to the public gym during the day. The gym I usually go to is closed while Coach is away."

Shauna
"Oh!" She sped up when Tea sped up, finding herself keeping up with him much easier this time. Shauna was already energized from the jogging, and it was better that she'd had a chance to gradually speed up instead of just break into a sprint like they had earlier.

Teagan
He nodded, obviously enjoying the company more as they rounded the bleachers again, this time at their increased speed. One lap was almost over, maybe she'd want to run a second with him? Ah well, he'd had fun either way, "Ever try lifting weights?"

Shauna
Shauna blinked at the suggestion, giggling and raising her arms. "Do I look like I have much upper strength?" She joked, putting her arms back at her sides to catch up to Tea with a few longer strides. "But no, I've never tried it. How come?"

Teagan
Tea wiped the sweat off his forehead with his arm, starting to sweat despite how little he was exerting himself. Another downside to being a teenager, ugh. Only then, when a breeze hit his chest, did he realize that he hadn't put his jacket on, and blushed lightly. Ah well, too late to worry about that now. "Just wondering. It gives me a nice rush, and," He paused, pointing to his arms and chest, "This."

Shauna
She gradually slowed to a stop when they reached their original starting point. Sake had fallen asleep, how cute. "The muscle!" Shauna smiled, letting her breathing slow down to its normal rate. "Maybe I should try lifting weights..."

Teagan
Teagan smiled, noting that Ilori and Isaura had stirred awake, "I think you'd enjoy it. Isaura waved a hand to him, pointing up at the big clock up on the side of the public gym. "Oh crud," He yelped, turning to Shauna after he saw the time, "I'm going to have to go, I promised the twins I'd take them to their book club. Well, Ilori wants to go to the book club, Isaura just likes the guys." He laughed, "It was nice meeting you."

Shauna
Shauna carefully picked up Sake, making sure he didn't wake up. "Okay! Want my number or something so you can call me sometime?" Sake stirred in her arms, but all he ended up doing was cuddling into Shauna's chest. "And my mom will hire a search party if I'm not back soon. It was nice meeting you too, Tea!"

Teagan
He grinned, "That'd be great." Ilori waved a book at him, and Isaura tossed him his towel. With a little eep, he caught it and wiped himself off, noting that he definately needed a shower.

Shauna
"Okay! Ah...hm...I need something to write on...and with..." Shauna looked around, giggling when one of the girl's threw a towel at him. She'd need a bit of a shower herself when she got home. "Someone's a little impatient to go to their book club!" She smiled.

Teagan
"Let's see..." He mused, then jogged over to his bag and pulled out a pen, "Just write it on my arm." Isaura rolled her eyes, and Ilori pulled her down, telling her not to be so rude.

Shauna
Shauna blinked. "Your arm? Uh..okay." This would take a bit of concentration...unlike paper, skin moved. Putting Sake down again, Shauna took the pen and the arm she was offered, standing with her back to Tea and his arm around her so the boy wouldn't have to turn it uncomfortable to read the numbers. She'd never written on a person's arm before, but it didn't come out half bad! "There! That was tough! You're all sweaty." She teased, sticking out her tongue.

Teagan
He blushed, tossing his towel over his shoulder and stuffing his jacket into his bag. "Guess so," He laughed, swinging the back onto his back before he took off running up the stairs to the parking lot with Ilori and Isaura leading the way to the van. "I'll talk to you later then Shauna. Bye!" He called, waving cheerfully.

Shauna
"Bye!" Shauna smiled, waving back and picking up Sake again. Now it was time to go home herself! "And then a nice long shower for me!" She cheered, heading home.
