crystal_raye Hannibal Lecter M.D. Nitemare Shadows But isn't the fact that Christene might want to have kids with Erik disturb ANY of you? I mean, no offence to Erik whatsoever, but if she wanted the kids to be REALLY good looking, wouldn't she have sex with Raoul? I think there's 2 ways to look at that.
Way One: If Erik's deformity is somehow genetic, then yes, she'd probably be better off going with Raoul. Why put another soul through what poor, unhappy Erik went through? Although, I don't believe there are many genetic deformities around (correct me if I am wrong.) But if it's not genetic, then the chances of another child being born as deformed as Erik is unlikely. I'm surprised Erik's mother didn't have a miscarriage or stillbirth, really (both of which are nature's way of.. disposing of a child who wasn't meant to be born, for whatever reason.).
But, Erik isn't a real person. Nor was his mother. So I guess you just have to accept what Gaston Leroux wrote. ^^;
Way Two: (This is referencing Susan Kay's Phantom, and assuming it is overall canon) Both Erik's mother and father were considered attractive, I believe. So Erik, had he not been born with the deformity, would probably have been good-looking. And his extroadinary talents would only add to his already attractive self. blaugh
Makes you wonder, huh? What could Erik have done to the world had he not been deformed?Total world domination! But yes, you have a point. Two "beautiful" parents don't always make a "beautiful" child. However, if his deformity had suddenly appeared in him it might well have suddenly disappeared in his child(ren). Genetics be a fickle mistress. actually it really depends on whether the sickness staretd at birth anyways. Besides, if it was genetic, the deformity allele would probably be recessive. so, if Christine had the gene also, then chances are not likely that her kids would be deformed too. If she had a son, then he miiiight be deformed, but not likely. Of course none of the girls would be ugly. I mean seriously....look at christine! But either way you look at it, socially or scientifically, their kid's probably wouldnt be ugly.

Dragonfan39 Eew.... yeah, thats not the point of the story AT ALL!!! i seriously doubt that the phantom wants to "do it" with christine. At least not when he first meets her. If he wanted to, don't you think he'd like drug her, and do it when shes knocked out or something? Sorry, you caught this topic when it died. Anyway, you're kinda missing something. Erik wept at her feet. He wanted her romantically, but he would never think to rape her. Even though he was desperate enough to try and kill half of Paris for her, he respected her and wouldn't touch her without her permission (except in PONR)
And plus, when people think about love, they think about what comes with love -although it's far from a necessity- is making love (or whichever term you prefer to use) to that person. PhantomoftheFox mentioned -I think it was in a different topic, though- that in the original French version, there was an undertone that Christine was frightened that Erik might rape her.
So basically, Erik did want Christine, but he would never rape her. ANyway, rape is more often than not about power, not love.

ha! There's two things I find hilarius from this thread, one, the batman suit thing, and the tight pants! My friends and I had this entire discussion about tight pants one day, it was a weird discussion nonetheless, but still. As for the Batsuit, I don't really wanna know why that was there.

Speaking of sex...
Since my amazon wishlist is basically phantom stuff, I got an email from AMAZON about some POTO erotica novel coming out. It's called "UNMASQUED".
Book Description One of the world's most beloved stories as it has never been told before, Unmasqued is a novel of breathtaking historical erotica. His exquisite obsession... Christine DaaĊ½ heard rumors of the hideous Phantom said to haunt the great Opera House in 19th-century Paris. But its youngest and brightest star knows something no one else does-the truth. For in the darkness she thrills to the deep velvet timbre of his arousing voice, and quivers to the soft strokes of his leather-gloved fingers. He is real. Her inspiration. Her Musique d'Ange. Her liberator.
Her erotic awakening... Condemned to the catacombs below, Erik has desired his obsession from the shadows, careful to keep his identity, and his secret, in the dark. Only he understands Christine's extraordinary talents and her beauty. Only he can pleasure her like no man has before. But his sensual power comes with a price-and a risk to everyone who stands between them. For Christine too is succumbing to her most forbidden and dangerous desires-and to the Phantom who's making them all come true.
Yipes. HEHEHEH...Music of Angel. Bad french. It's ALW based and leaks of SMUT. talk2hand

...What an odd piece of...*ahem* Well, I think that book is gonna be very strange. I'd never buy it, partly because lord only knows what my friends would start ranting about. (we had a bizarre conversation over what we misheard as "Mr. Barham's my slave." Of course, Mr. Barham is our english teacher...ew...)

*reads summary* Ugh. Curse Andrew Lloyd Webber to the deepest bowels of hell for inspiring all this 'Phantom=Sex God' stuff. No one wrote bad porn about Leroux Erik!
... actually, someone should. That'd be hilarious.

Oh, god, Fox! Just when my mind was remotely sane...
Yes, that would be hilarious. Here's a few possible match-ups for that:
The seemingly-overdone ones:
Nadir/Erik (leduh) Raoul/Erik
Not so overdone: Darius/Nadir Raoul/Nadir Meg/Raoul (wtf? Sorry, I'm just spouting random combos here...) Nadir/Meg?
All in all, I won't even go into the other ones that I have in my head...but either way, I defidently wouldn't buy that book. (or the one that actually exists for that matter, as I already said and both for the same reason)
