User ImageIt had rained earlier. The scent of the wet, fresh earth had an almost rejuvinating sort of feel to it, encouraging the cycle of life to begin again, tireless in its efforts. Even from his perch within the soggy, gnarled branches of a nearby tree, his keen eyes could detect the tender shoots of young plants pushing through the moist soil, tiny, budding leaves gaping for a chance at the sun. Pathetic. A soft snort of scorn drifted from the solitary kitsu, his head resting lightly on his paws, those murky eyes still ticking over the clearing within the heart of the forest that he'd claimed to be 'his'. It wasn't, truly, but it was where he spent most of his time. Away from others, his kin, his mate...

His back paw suddenly scratched sharply against the wood--slipped. Sasuke's ears flicked back with irritation as he repositioned himself, not at all amused by how wet his surroundings were. Droplets of water were still pelting him from above, suspended like minature crystals underneath the bellies of lush leaves--effectively soaking through his clothes to brush against thick fur.

With an irritated sound, the dark-haired kitsusagi firmly bound his paws to the treee using chakra, having no wish to fall out and land on his face. Especially not with all the mud puddles gathered underneath the base of his chosen tree. Snapping his tails to express his silent displeasure once more, Sasuke allowed his thoughts to drift back to his spawn, a mingled wave of disgust and revulsion coursing through him...and perhaps regret. He hardly knew his own children, let alone grandchildren. Such a waste.

Soyala wasn't quite sure how she had gotten herself caught in the rain - typically, she was rather good at noting the rain and avoiding it, but this time she had been too slow and had managed to become quite drenched. "Good heavens... what luck," she whispered as she made her way deeper into the forest, to the darker, thicker area, where hopefully it would be a bit dryer.

No luck. She tucked her tails between her legs and skittered beneath a tree, a grimace on her face as she hid away from the rain, waiting until she could find a brief break in the rain in order to continue onwards towards the nearest caves, wanting to ensure that she could avoid getting sick, because that would certainly be a terrible thing.

A sound from above. A light brush, of ... fur perhaps? Soyala blinked once and slowly turned so she could look up into the tree, blinking slowly. There was... was a kitsu clinging to the tree...? "Ah... hello...?"

The flash of pastel blue hadn't failed to catch his eye, and the surly-looking kitsu angled his head slightly, dark eyes flickering as they noted the other's progress with little interest. What did he care? So long as she kept to herself--and was quiet about it--her presence meant nothing to him. That was, of course, until her words rose softly through the strangely damp currents of the air, causing him to stare blandly down at her with reluctance.

She'd greeted him, but if she expected to be greeted in return, she'd be sadly mistaken. Those empty black eyes flickered over her for a brief moment, impassive, noting the ribbons tied around her paws, that ridiculous bow perched on her tails...the silver earrings, one for each ear, and the strange, snowflake-like markings that were scattered across her hide. It was easy to pick her out against the rich background of the forest, and, after eyeing her expressionlessly for a moment more, Sasuke allowed his gaze to drift elsewhere.

"How you can tramp so boldly through someone else's territory and expect to be welcomed is beyond me..." His tone was cool, dismissive in the way that he didn't even bother to look at her while speaking. "If you need something, look elsewhere." He wasn't about to coddle her with false greetings and a facade of politeness.

"Oh... my apologies," replied Soyala softly, feeling a twinge of worry over how.. upset the other kitsu sounded. It was obvious now that this area had been claimed by him and she had wandered in without permission. "Forgive me. I wasn't aware that this area was a no-go zone. I don't get out much."

She paused, tilting her head and watching the other for a moment, before offering up a smile now. "Will you at least tell me your name, so I can warn any others I see about this being your territory, so they don't bother you as well?" she asked, wondering if that would get him to open up, just a wee bit. Not that she really should be prying... he just fascinated her, with his grumpiness. An urge to make him feel better had swept through her and now she was acting on it, hopefully with good results. If not... perhaps she would have to plan an accidental wandering again later...

An apology. As though that would really improve her current situation. His eyes didn't quite roll, though they were sorely tempted. Her words brought nothing from his pale, stoic features, not even a twitch of annoyance or a smile. However, the male tossed his head lightly before remarking with a dry tone, "It's a big mountain. I can't see how you'd manage to wander this far in here anyway." 'Get out much'...Hmph.

Now his suspicion had been fully roused, and the proud Uchiha narrowed his eyes faintly at this strange female. Surely she didn't care that much...No fool in their right mind would honestly give a damn enough to warn others about a spot of land that had been claimed. "It's wise to introduce yourself first before asking for names." He said simply, settling his head back on his paws, staring at her through those dark, accusing eyes, his tails swishing softly as he calculated. Judging by her previous reactions, she'd more than likely give him her name...and promptly expect for his, in return. Irritating.

"Oh." Soyala seemed to pause a moment, blinking slowly. She had forgotten to give her name, hadn't she? Tsk. Bad manners, on her part. "My apologies, once more, stranger. My name is Soyala. As I'm assuming you intend to get rid of me as soon as possible, I won't ask you to call me Soya," she said at last, but with a smile, not bothered by the thought of him wanting her gone. There were some kitsu who just didn't like to be bothered in any way, shape, or form and this seemed to be one of them.

"I wandered this way somewhat blindly, I'm afraid... I myself am started by how far I managed to go into the forest, but... here I am, and not much to be done about it other than continuing on through, or turning back and circling around somehow..." she murmured, looking around a little and flicking her ears to get a bit of rain off of them.

Well, she was wise enough to not expect him to use any nicknames she might have had. Flicking his tails slowly, those dark eyes watched her blandly for a moment more, his voice drifting down without hardly a change in his expression. "Uchiha Sasuke." The last name was offered first, of course, as was customary. Whether she reacted or not to the name of his clan was not of his concern--he hardly expected her to. No, he'd met few that even knew what it meant to be a ninja...Then again, Sasuke hadn't met many people.

"So you're lost." It was a statement, not a question. Typicial. "I don't have time to help you." Right, because he looked so preoccupied at the time...but it was true, he'd been planning on using the slick conditions to train. "...If you're that certain that you'll only lose yourself further, I can get you out of here in a while." The dark-haired kitsu had expertly stood up in place, chakra binding his paws to the tree branch so he wouldn't slip off. Muscles tensed before he leapt, bounding off trunk after trunk, before landing near her, arching his neck in a stretch as though that had been hardly anything at all. "Just stay out of the way." Whether she stayed or left, he didn't want to have to deal with her interefering by accident.

"A pleasure to meet you," replied Soyala simply, not seeing the importance of his name but still accepting it. She smiled warmly and nodded her heard a little, before her ears went up and her eyes went wide as she watched the kitsu move through the trees, using them almost as spring-boards. It was a fascinating act and left Soyala wondering how it was possible.

"All right. I'm willing to wait until you can show me out... where shall I stay, which places me out of the way?" she asked then, tilting her head a little and smiling in a slightly more playful manner. "And, if I may ask... how did you do that, with using the trees as a means to get around? I've never seen a kitsu quite so capable."

"..." Dark eyes flickered across the forest for a moment, calculating where would put her out of reach and what plot of land he planned to use. "By the base of that tree." His head jerked itself in the direction he wanted her to go, lifting a brow idly at her question. Interested? Well, whatever. Her playful attitude was dismissed with a shrug before he lifted one paw to her. A faint distortion of air suddenly rippled near his paw, and a ghostly blue, not unlike an aura, drifted before the flesh without warning before it phased out again, as though unable to stay. "Chakra." Like that explained everything.

He dismissed her presence again as he turned to the side, dark eyes suddenly seeming to swirl, bleeding crimson until all but three dark, comma-like swirls remained, twirling around the pupil till they settled once more. Could he control his breath with the air so moist, so humid? They'd find out. Inhaling deeply, his chest expanding as he prepared himeslf, the kitsu tilted his ears back slightly with concentration, gathering the chakra in the base of his throat--

--and spat fire. It roared over the forest floor, seeming to consume everything in its path as the Uchiha continued to exhale, eyes narrowed when the holocaust finally ceased. The wet earth was smoking faintly, but, for the most part, most of the water had evaporated due to the heat. A tiny rasp in his throat was all that signaled that the kitsu had even done such a thing.

Soyala blinked slowly and glanced towards the tree, before moving to go over to it. When she arrived at her new spot, she promptly sat down, facing Sasuke and watching in complete fascination as the air rippled and blue faded into view, only blinking again when it was gone. "Chakra... I've heard of it," she murmured, before lapsing back into silence as he turned away from her again, settling for just watching him.

For several moments, she hadn't a clue what was going to happen. But to see that power suddenly erupt from the otherwise silent kitsu, in the form of such a brilliant and dangerous flame... that was very, very unexpected and yet... very beautiful. Soyala watched with wide eyes and perked ears and slightly fuzzed fur, holding her breath until the heat was gone.

"That... that was amazing."

A smoky sort of sensation continued to linger throughout his senses as the last bits of unused chakra swept back into his system, eyeing the tendrils of thick, grey streams that continued to waft from the charred earth. So. Not only had that been a good way to get the chakra circulating in his veins, but it had also dried the land for him, making it impossible for his paws to skid out underneath him. One ear twitched at the question, but the Uchiha took his time in responding. "...My clan used to specialize in fire techniques." Why he chose to reveal this to her, he didn't know. "It's a basic jutsu." As though dismissing her awe in the technique. Truly, he could do much more.

"Who told you about chakra?" The dark-haired kitsu questioned, finally glancing back to assess her silently. She didn't look as though she was a ninja herself, and Sasuke had yet to hear of any besides he and Kakashi...and those other three. The Uchiha roughly shoved them from mind, resisting the urge to curl his lip in disdain.

Soyala just smiled, nodding as she got just a tiny bit more information on this stranger. "Chakra? It's something I'm interested in, and I just hear snippets of things that catch my attention. I don't know much, but I know enough that chakras have a lot to do with being balanced and in harmony with one's self, and that's something I like the sound of."

She took a seat, humming softly and flicking his tails just lightly. "Now, if you want, you can continue and I'll be quiet," she said, smiling shyly and tucking herself out of the way even more, not wanting to be a bother. "I really like watching you... if that doesn't sound too unnerving or strange. You're very powerful and stunning."

"...That's...part of it, I suppose." Sasuke acknowledged. In harmony with one's self? Hah, if only. Chakra had to do with being able to mold energy using both the body and mind. There were several different types of chakra that leaked out from chakra points in the body...but, the Uchiha didn't feel the need to go into detail. His tails swished faintly with hidden approval at her suggestion, tilting his head to watch her at the compliments. Was she flirting with him? Or just being honest. "...I had a good teacher." He finally replied, the corners of his lips twitching, but failing to fully surrender themselves into a smirk.

Pacing slightly, dark eyes narrowedly swept over the ground, as though judging just what he'd be able to do. Chakra exercises, perhaps. No sooner had he thought it did the Uchiha allow his body to be engulfed by a crackling blue wave of energy, arching his head back towards the kunai pouch strapped to his back leg--fishing out a kunai with his teeth. In a flash, he'd leapt for the trees, chakra enabling him to bound up them while the steel knives flashed without warning, one after the other embedding themselves in the chosen tree-target, chakra being the only thing that allowed him to somewhat grasp their hilts in his paws.

Landing sideways on yet another tree, his claws ripping furrows in the bark as he skidded slightly, Sasuke scrutinized his work, tails lashing faintly. For the trees being so slick, he'd had to use more chakra in order to keep himself stable--but all and all, he was satisfied. But it wasn't enough. His progress wasn't near enough for what he truly desired.

Silence was held and Soyala nearly held her breath to do so, for she felt the urge to gasp and make all sorts of other sounds of awe as she watched Sasuke move about with such speed and accuracy and power. She hardly moved, barely thought, just watched and admired... How could someone so strong exist? Well, perhaps that was a bit much.

She had imagined heroes as powerful as this... but she didn't think that the power could exist. And here it was, in the form of a kitsu who was moving about like lightning in the rain and... adjusting to her presence, perhaps? She felt honored.

Knives? Her ears strained forward and she leaned forward a little bit, muscles tensed. And then it was over, all of a sudden, and she breathed out a sigh she hadn't been sure she was holding. "You're fascinating... had I the ability to capture you in a photo or something, I would. But I think you move too fast!"

Was she really so captivated by what he could do? Those black eyes watched her silently for a moment as the kitsusagi listened to her go on for a moment, then dropped, landing gracefully, silently, on the ground below. The Uchiha wasn't one for much praise--he could evaluate his own abilities. But, he didn't snap at her or really seem to mind, having been isolated for so long from those who usually irritated him...or otherwise.

"You're impressed." He spoke quietly, padding a little closer until he was at a polite distance, looking content enough to stand and simply watch her. "But do you have any reason why? Strength, speed, what does it mean to you?" Quite honestly, Sasuke was curious about her ideals, her views..even if they wouldn't mean much to him. So absorbed was he in what his views were that the opinions of others really mattered very little to him. But still, he was curious, and it couldn't hurt to ask. He wasn't just doing this to show off.
