Well, the usual answer is download Apprentice

There are threads for deck help but, I guess you can post your problem here and see if we can help.

I have apprentice, but I have no idea how to get the goddamn thing working. I wish I could afford Magic Online.

Man, don't get me started on Apprentice. I played Apprentice way back then and hung around the Magic-League guys. I'm kinda in a dry spell right now because think about it: In Apprentice, you could make *any* legal deck you want. For free. Any deck. And yeah, even with formats (Ext., T2, etc.), everybody there wants to play serious decks instead of casual ones, like the ones I want to test.

I stopped around last summer. Yeah, I'm tired of losing to friggin' Ravanger Affinity, Colossal Tooth n' Nail, and a bunch of other serious decks when all I want to do is TEST A CASUAL DECK I'M PLANNING ON BUILDING IN REAL LIFE BEFORE I START SPENDING MONEY.

After Mirrodin block rolls out of T2, I'll probably slip back in. Well, if anyone here knows where I'm coming from and wants a casual match, IM me at InvincibleX360 on AOL or flame_x35@hotmail.com on MSN Mess.

And yeah, Apprentice is kinda buggy. It takes a long time to load, and sometimes it goes fritzy. <---- made up word, don't ask

It's not a made up word. And the problem is trying to get the damn thing's effects working. It's a pile, to not come with instructions. Or any type of real programming. You can draw your entire deck, play all cards without spending mana, attack with sorceries... What the Hell kind of system is this? Besides, when you quit Magic Online, you get the cards you had online sent to you.

no you don't i've been told that you get a complete set when you get every card of a set on Magic online. not when you quit. although i could see that cause MO has you paying for it

Yeah, Apprentice's engine is pretty simplistic and there's a whole bunch of ways players can cheat. (all actions are recorded in the log, so the other player will always know) But all the guys I've played against never cheated and they've all played by the rules. (although there's an occasional request for rule judgement) Besides, this program is total GOLD if you don't want to spend money on cards, digital or physical.

Also, I've been wondering for about 2 years now what happened to Dragonstar Studios, the programmers behind Apprentice. I'm figuring that they folded or disbanded. So far now, the version everyone has now is the final version until someone takes up the ship's helm and starts improving the system.

I'm going to try to get workstation. But I'd really like to at least know how I'm going to fetch my lands in apprentice. Nothing quite like playing a useless Kodama's reach.
