I'm not sure if this belongs in here, but oh well.
Does anyone know of any good books on Tarot? I am also looking at buying either the Vertigo Tarot by Dave McKean or the Gothic Tarot by Joseph Vargo. Any ideas on which one is preferred?
Any other stuff on tarot would be appreciated.

Oh, I know one, but I can't think of the title! I'll go home and pull it out for you.

Just so everyone else can see - the Vertigo tarot and the Gothic tarot. Personally, I'd go for Vertigo, because the images look ******** /incredible/. In fact, I might just buy a set to replace my Rider Waite. As for Tarot books, I'm still using the book I got with the first tarot deck I bought and crossreferencing that with the mini-booklet that came with my Rider Waite tarot card, although I'm starting to find my own meanings with some of the cards. Aside from that, I can't offer much insight, sorry. D:

I've never worked with either of those Tarot, to be honest, and the only book I ever consulted (besides the one that came with my latest deck), is configured to Rider-Waite.
Just FYI, I currently am in love with my Revelations Tarot. heart

I would recommend the "Seventy Eight Degrees of Wisdom". It comes in two books, one for the Major Arcana, one for the Minor/Court Cards and tying readings together.

Thanks. I am going to try and pick up the Vertigo Tarot and Seventy Eight Degrees of Wisdom, but I don't have any money right now, so I'll post when I get them.

As far as I am concerned, playing Tarock is the best use for any set of Tarot cards. As it was used as a game before its main purpose became that of divination.

Blind Guardian the 2nd As far as I am concerned, playing Tarock is the best use for any set of Tarot cards. As it was used as a game before its main purpose became that of divination. Looney Labs has an Icehouse game called Gnostica, which is played using Tarot cards. smile I keep a Rider-Waite for that purpose.

Does anyone's deck "speak" to them... like before they actually bought it or anything?
Because I've personally got a dragon Tarot deck... and it's like, I saw it, and when I picked it up I just got this strange "nostalgic" or just... like some feeling I should get it. Of course I couldn't really say there was anything very deep about it... but that feeling made me come back later on that trip in the book store to purchase it. sweatdrop
I think soon after they only had one more for sale, and I was considering getting it in case my deck somehow "broke" by losing cards or something... but I didn't. I was thinking along the lines that if I did lose a card... I couldn't simply replace it with one.
I guess I'm just weird like that.

Nah, I know some people who have special connections with their tarot decks. I don't know how well you can read them, but if you have that special intuitive thing that seems to work so well, you might have quite a talent for it.

She certainly has the inspiration if nothing else. Plus, just general odd things have happened concerning both my parents... maybe they can be explained by mundane things... but... still weird coincidences then. sweatdrop
