Favorite Animal: Platypus Why: They are so interesting and the only mammal that has a bill, a beaver's tail, lays eggs, webbed feet, and has poisonous spurs on it's hinds leg all in one animal. Random Fact: The Echidna (also known as the Spiny Anteater) is also a mammal that lays eggs. Also Favorite Animal: Wolf Why: They are noble and intelligent and beautiful and more.
Favorite Insect: Praying Mantis Why: It's quick and stealthy and yet very graceful and in some instances, beautiful.
Favorite Flower: Rose Why: It's symbol of Love and friendship. The smell and sight of it is also as beautiful and the number of meanings it holds.
Favorite Tree: Great Oak Why: One of the biggest growing trees which branches out as if it wants to touch the entire world. It gives off a sense of wisdom and beauty just to be near it and holds your face in aw if you appreciate what kind of life it gives. Random Fact: The Great Oak has been used as a Tree of Wisdom and as well as Life (such as the Ash Tree) back in Ancient times where it was believed to be a God and/or Goddess of Nature.

Favorite Animal: Hawk Why: I have always been fascinated with birds of prey. They live in my area where there are still stands of trees. Their power and beauty speaks to me.
Random Fact: A Hawk's eyesight is 8 times more powerful than human. Before predatory birds were protected, there was a bounty on hawks due to the mistaken belief that they ate chickens. Actually hawks eat mice, rats, snake, suirrels and amphibians and useful to farmers in controlling rodent populations.
Favorite Insect: ladybugs Why: Ladybugs are also predators and can be used in gardens instead of pesticides. I like to catch them and open my hand with one finger pointing up. The always crawl to the highest point, spread their little wings and take off.. Random Fact: A ladybug can fly 15 miles per hour. Dang, that's fast for a bug.
Favorite Flower: Crocus Why: They are the first flower that I see in the spring.
Favorite Tree: Giant Sequoia Why: They grow to an average height of 230-280 feet and can live thousands of years. Before they were protected, sequoias were logged. The wood is brittle and often the heavy tree would shatter when it hit the ground. The wood was used for shingles, fence posts and tomato stakes. Random Fact: Sequoias first grow cones when they are about 20 years old.

I like all plants and animals equally because they are all too different to compare.
For example, a panda bear being compared to a parakeet. They are each so different and beautiful in their own ways I couldn't say I liked one more. Not to mention that this is speciesist. Not to mention that each ANIMAL is different and you can't catergorize them by their species.
Also, for your knowledge, insects ARE animals.

Um...I have many favorite animals...which to choose....? gonk I'll just do one of each! lol
The reason for ALL of these is because they all share BOTH of the two characteristics that I always relate nature w/: power and grace.
My fave animals are... Grey wolves, any bird of prey, Siberian tigers, Bengal tigers, orcas, and Canadian lynx. My fave tree is the giant sequoia too..And I don't really have a favorite flower or insect...

True, but just so people could choose what their favorite insect is generally and their favorite animal generally.

Favorite Animal: I love so many animals, but the one that sticks out most in my mind is the Snow Leopard. Why: It is one of the most beautiful, elusive and aloof creatures in the world. They live in a mountain climate I can appreciate and love. They just seem so majestic and surreal padding through deep snow without sinking through.
Favorite insect: Spiders. Especially Tarantulas, because they're fuzzy! Why: They get rid of all the other icky buggies.
Favorite Flower: Lilac Why: Because they are usually the first to bloom here in spring. The smell of them is almost a joygasmic to me! ^_^
Favorite tree: Oh this is tough. I like any tree with a different shade of leaves, like red maples, but, the most impressive trees I think are birch or even weeping birch. Why: Mainly because of the trunks and branches that stretch out of the earth looking like living bone.

Fav. Animal: um... I can''t really choose. They are all too stunning. For now: tree frog and a bush baby why: because tree frogs are so cute! they are slimy and super colorful with little toesies! And bush babies are so mysterious, and anyone with big eyes like that are worth praising. Random Fact: bush babies urinate on their hands to claim their territory
Fav. Insect: Butterfly Why: because they are all so graceful, and they can fly. they are like fairies Random Fact: Zebra butterflies are the common butterflies found in South Florida
Fav. Flower: Sun flower Why: it reminds me of the sun, and they are so happy
Favorite tree: the strangler fig why: because they are really unique. Their roots start growing from the forest canopy down to the soil, and they are parasidic. They need another tree in order to grow. The host decays as the roots of the fig envelop it, strangling it to death. when it is fully grown, there is a cavity in it''s center. plus, they are HUGE
