Gloomy today, eh? Dark eyes reluctantly cast themselves up to the blinding grey of looming storm clouds, wryly taking note that while the atmosphere threatened to drown him, it hardly looked as though it would do little more than bluff. Just as well--Sera was hardly in the mood for getting wet. Thick, if glossy tails, identical in color to the scraggly locks that framed those sharp eyes, whisked at the grass beneath his paws. In truth, though the omnious setting brought back less than soothing memories for the Spaniard, the cool, almost damp feel of the air was welcomed as he sauntered lightly near the edge of the ancient forest that had long-since spread across the Mountain like a leafy blanket. The river burbled softly at him from a distance, but Luis hardly paid it any mind. No, no, that river was, in his well-informed opinion, nothing but bad luck, always tossing him in situations that usually involved him fleeing. True, there was that one time, with that particularly bad-tempered wraith-like thing...but that didn't matter. Besides, he was content with investigating the trees for now, a humming croon idly building up within his throat. Hadn't he gotten attacked by the trees last time, too? "I'm starting to think you'd rather I go elsewhere, Lady Mountain...Where's the looove?" Came the chuckle. Talking to himself? Well, if he kept that up, he'd have to think he was crazy...
Tossing his head was enough to remove the silky strands that were so intent on clinging to his face, and, idly pricking his ears, Luis slipped into what, on a normally sunny day, would be the shade of the forest. No sense in getting wet if nature really did have something against him, eh? Maybe he'd look for someone to chatter at--all this solitary behavior was starting to turn him into something of a social recluse.

There was another who was particularly wary of the less-than-appealing weather that was threatening to break overhead. Kaoru Hitachiin peered up through the leaves at the gray, rolling sky, briefly wondering if he should, perhaps, be hunting for a place to hide from surely coming rainfall rather than playing a hunting game with a rabbit he had located some time ago.
The younger of the Hitachiin twins sighed and flicked his ears a little, listening for any sign of said rabbit. It was too late to continue the game - he couldn't hear anything, meaning the small creature had taken advantage of his mulling and made it's final run to freedom. So the chase had ended and a new sort of chase had begun, where Kaoru would begin his search for either his brother or a pleasant hiding place to wait out the rain. His tails skimmed lightly over the long grasses as he made his way towards the more walked paths of the forest, keeping a wary eye on the sky above so he could know to run should the rain begin earlier than he anticipated.
The last thing he had expected to hear was a voice. Distant, but it was there, and Kaoru paused to listen. It definitely wasn't his brother. Hikaru's voice was different, and he would be scolding Kaoru for wandering off in such bad weather, rather than speaking to the Mountain herself. So he continued on, watching out for the source of said voice, in case it was one he needed to get away from.

A grumble of thunder earned another rueful glance from the Spaniard, who snorted in reply and quite deliberately continued his strutting pace down what looked like a rabbit trail. Reminded him of the old hunting trails back home--the ones that he'd used to save his life when the parasetic monsters had hunted him through the entire blasted night, the crackle of their torches and their harsh, whooping calls enough to keep him running for his life. Much like a rabbit. Only familiarity with his surroundings and quick wit had kept him alive...but such sour thoughts, eh? Luis chased them from his mind, batting away the cobwebs just as a flash of color caught his eye. Instinctively the male slowed his pace, ears flattening warily. Of course...a lovely female couldn't be anything threatening, mm?
"Señoritaaaa, surely you aren't going to stay out in the rain?" Luis questioned smoothly, a grin flickering across his muzzle as he easily moved across the path, catching sight of those golden eyes. Rather..boyish, wasn't she? But nothing that the Spaniard couldn't handle. "It'd be a shame, letting you get all wet when I just so happen to know of a nice spot for us to stay dry...." Dark eyes flickered amusedly as the Spaniard slowed his pace, tilting his head in order to glance her over better. "You gotta name, sweetheart?"
Yes, it was true; the Spaniard had little shame when it came to courting. Even now, when he knew quite well that the threat of Las Plagas would only continue to bloom, it was still somewhat acceptable to flirt--right?"The name's Luis Sera--pleasure." Another grin, along with a swish of those tails.

Well.
This was certainly the last thing he had expected.
Kaoru glanced down at his clothes, wondering if they made him look exceedingly feminine that day, or if it was just the light... or... or what. Whatever it may have been, it had caused this male to confuse him for a lady, rather than the man he was! Señorita, he had been called by this... oddly charming kitsu, which he knew was a feminine word in the Spanish language. He wanted to laugh, and correct the other kitsu, to tell him that he had the wrong gender...
But, given that he was a Little Devil, the temptation to play along was just too great. "A pleasure, yes," he replied, opting to hike up a bit of an accent just to add to the fun. His brother probably would be proud. "I was thinking of just looking around for a place to hide from the rain, but if you have a place available with space for two... what's the use in looking about?" His voice was soft enough to pass for feminine, he hoped. This game was just too fun!
"Ah, and before I forget... Kaoru. I am Kaoru Hitachiin," he finished up with a charming smile. His name could go both ways in the gender field, so it was safe to use his actual name. That way he wouldn't have to worry about responding to a false one. "Perhaps you could lead the way to this dry place, then, Luis Sera?"

Whatever the reason for the Spaniard's blunder, he had little reason to doubt that this was indeed female--especially when that soft, delicatedly acccented tone caressed his hearing. "But of course." He all but crooned, quite pleased with his luck. It had been ages since he'd laid eyes on a woman, and a seemingly willing one at that! "There's a few caves I know of that'll do the trick just fine." Luis mused, peering at her slyly with one eye through a curtain of dark silk. "Orrrr, if you're a lady of higher tastes, there's a cabin, though it's a bit of a walk. Either or--I'm yours to command." A broad wink punctuated that statement, followed by a rather cheeky sort of grin.
"Kaoru, eh? That's Japanese, isn't it?" The flirtatious air gave way temporarily, revealing an openly curious intellectual side--the side that, he was careful to remind himself, was what got him in this mess in the first place. "And but of course--though the cabin's a farther walk, somehow, I'd feel guilty for holing you up in just a cave..." Luis did indeed know no shame, grinning again before he skirted past her.
If they kept a decent pace, they'd easily make it to the Headquarters without getting rained out. And if not? ...Well, it wouldn't come to that. He didn't flaunt the title of 'ladies' man' for nothing, after all. "So tell me, señorita--you come here often? Or was it just my luck to stumble across such a pretty face?"

Kaoru held back laughter, smiling sweetly at Luis instead, actually finding the other's mannerisms quite amusing and charming - he would have to scold himself later for that one. "Either way would be just fine, to be honest. So long as we get out of any possible rain," he replied, looking up at the sky as thunder rumbled quite ominously overhead. "And it seems we don't have much time..." Choices, choices...
"Let us just take what is available. We'll head for the cabin, but, if we don't reach it in time, we can tuck ourselves away in a dry cave," Kaoru decided at last, before pausing as he saw the curious, less flirtatious side of the other, if just for a moment - but that moment was enticing enough. "Hai, it is..." And then it was gone, and Luis was walking by, heading down the path, and Kaoru was quick to follow.
"I actually am around rather often, but I don't stick to the beaten path - what fun is it seeing what everyone else has seen already? So I wander further in, where the grass is long. You happened to catch me as I was coming back from a game of chase with a rabbit," Kaoru answered, smiling playfully and laughing a little.

"Lucky for us, there's a few caves here and there on the way. Hopefully we won't need them, but..." Ears twitched with what could have been amusement, dark eyes flicking to the sky as the sky grumbled deeply with irritation, "...I seem to have a lack of luck when it comes to these sorts of things." That was one way of putting it. "Ahhh, not only beautiful, but intelligent as well!" The dark-haired kitsu chuckled faintly, his saunter now something more of a trot, but still holding back enough that he could could glance at Kaoru out of the corner of his eye.
"Oh-ho! You're more adventurous than I first took you for, Señorita." The Spaniard's tone was filled with approval, though he certainly wasn't patronizing the other. "And, by the looks of it, I'd say the rabbit won?" He ventured, his thoughts straying back to his earlier notion on rabbit trails, but thankfully, arousing none of the bitterness and regret that accompanied it. "I usually stick to the river myself--but lately, I find that I'm meeting people I'd really rather avoid..."
He chuckled, a smooth, velvety sort of sound that stirred from the base of his throat before flowing easily. Didn't want to stick to the beaten path, huh? An all-too sharp reminder of his time during those hellish nights, but the dark-haired Spaniard hid it well. "Lucky for me that I was passing through, eh? Wouldn't have done me much of a favor to miss such a pretty lass~"

A faint blush appeared on Kaoru's cheeks, mostly for show, but also a bit true. Compliments always embarrassed him to some degree, though he did his best to always accept them gracefully. "You give out such kind words generously, Luis... I almost don't know if I should believe them!" he replied, laughing softly and shaking his head a little, before jumping just slightly - once more for show - as thunder crackled rather suddenly.
"Ah... Oh, yes. I fear the rabbit did certainly win... I may have been able to keep up the chase for a bit longer, but the storm rolled in. Either way, though, it's almost sure that the rabbit would have won in the end. He knew the way of the forest far better than I do yet," Kaoru continued, before giving Luis a curious look. "The river? I've never really walked along the river... water doesn't exactly grab my attention."
Ah, that laugh... Kaoru wanted to blush all over again, but that was ridiculous of him! He should not be truly... simpering like the maid he was pretending to be over this man. Certainly not. But he would admit that he liked Luis's laugh... it was nice. "Very lucky for me that you were passing through! I probably would have been caught by the rain while trying to fumble my way to shelter."

The sight of flushed cheeks was enough to have him grinning broadly again, ducking his head a little to portray, with silent amusement, that he'd ease off some. "Ahh, forgive me, eh? I've been told I have a clever tongue of sorts--it tends to start waggling when I see a girl as pretty as you. A curse, I'm afraid." He sounded rather cheerful about it, dark eyes flickering with his amusement when she jumped. "Obnoxiously loud, mm? Well, we'll just hope that that's all it does till we get there." Oh yes, he was enjoying himself. She was a quirky thing, now wasn't she? Certainly more amusing to talk to than most he'd met.
"So long as one has a place to hide and keep silent, he's all but invisible--especially if he knows the territory." The Spaniard agreed, unconsciously pulling back on the flirtatious attitude to again flash a hint of that other side he kept so well hidden. "Truer words never spoken. And you've never been? Ahhh, a pity! Remind me--I'll take you when the storm rolls over. S'a good place to relax, eh? Though, awfully boring if you aren't just looking for a place to sit..."
Tossing his head slightly, Luis offered up a rather sly grin, tails swishing as another chuckle purred a little deeper in his chest. "Lady Luck's pullin' the strings today eh? Can't say I mind. Could use a little luck...No fun to wait out a storm without some company, after all. So tell me chica, you know anyone here in the Mountain?" Besides all the freaks that seemed to find him, of course...
((Ahh, with that, I've gotta dash off for the night. xD Thanks very much for the RP Alch, and I expect to continue this with you later! <33 -waves and flees-))
