In the start of Curse Of The Black Pearl, there's a young Elizabeth and Norrington is an adult... So how come Norrington can marry Elizabeth? Their age difference looks at least 10 years. When Elizabeth was little, it would have been weird for Norrington to like her, but would it make a difference when she grew up?
That always confused me, it make me think Norrington was a weirdo. xp

It would be a political marriage. Yes, that would be wierd but at the time such things were widely accepted.

It helped the man get ahead to marry the daughter of someone important.

Well, Norrington love Liz so i'd say he wasn't just in it to better himself and his career.

It was more of a way of lifestyle, making sure that money was involved, and that status was kept up.
It seems weird to us today, cause we believe in the whole 'marry someone you love'. But, back then, love really didn't have anything to do with it. Money and class did.
Anywho, I'd be gald to marry Norry. He's a cutie patootie!

Hmm, i have a question, at the begining of Curse of the Black Pearl, where Elizabeth was the little girl who sighted the mist (which was the Black pearl), who was the captain of the ship then? Was it jack?

Was it jack? No, it was Barbosa. Because who ever burned the ship that young William was on was looking for the Aztec coin that Will had. Since Barbosa and his crew were looking for that, and Jack had no reason to, I do believe it was Barbosa.

It was Barbossa. The Black Pearl only had that mist around it when those aboard it were cursed. Once Jack and Will broke said curse the Pearl was just a normal ship, no mist, no cool torn masts.

Ooh I get it now. I was just wondering why no one noticed he was much older than her. I didn't know they found it normal.

Well, I think a powerful family connection could have been something to do with Norrington and Elizabeth. And really, the age difference wasn't that abnormal in those times. Girls could be married off at age 13, I think. She said it was 8 years ago, so she couldn't have been that young at the time.

Norrington was probably 16-18 years older when POTC 1 began. Ten years later he would have been in the mid to late 30's. Not unusual for military men to be considered good prospects to marry daughters to. Elizabeth would have fit into his class of people and would therefore make him a good and proper wife. Her youth would ensure many children.
