User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show. Valefor had gone out flying that morning, Seer blissfully agreeing to stay home and help Kitsyn watch Bryna and the perma-kits. She needed some time to think... alone.

Was she really in love with AearHwesta? It hadn't started out to be that way, but... she'd grown very fond of him in spite of the fact that she knew he wasn't a one-woman kitsu and that they would never be capable of having a family. But lately she'd realized a family was what she wanted... some day, at least. She'd never had much of one Before, even before she'd become an Aeon. It was probably time to part ways with Aear, at least in the more intimate fashion, but she hadn't really met anyone else who sparked her fancy.

Ah, conundrums. Still; perhaps some time not being around anyone she was attached to would help clear her head a bit, if not her heart.

A few powerful backwinging strokes and she landed in a tree, making her way deeper into the branches. It gave a good view of the front of HQ and part of the roof without making her all that easy to spot. She hadn't been out to simply watch people in a while; always so busy with Seer or the perma-kits or... something.

Silently she settled into her watching gargoyle position, golden eyes blinking behind her expressionless mask, and so she waited.

User ImageXaldin didn't mind being inside. In fact, he quite preferred it sometime. Lately, however, inside meant being around some of the most insufferable beings he had met. It would summarize the reason why he was trailing through the Mountain's forrest now, headed for the HQ. Really- one was enough, and even that one he often fancied dying horribly somewhere where he couldn't technically help but still see. It wasn't so strong at the moment, with small paws merely set upon his head. After being twapped a couple times with that large paw of Xaldin's, Revelin had slowly learned that his guardian was becoming less tolerant of his nipping fetish.

The needles and twigs of the forrest floor snapped and groaned beneath the weight of the large, cloaked kitsu that stalked over them. The male himself was not really concerned with being heard at the moment- if anyone bothered him, he would take care of it quickly enough. Upon his back perched a young kit, hind paws set between the other's broad shoulders and the forepaws resting lightly upon his dark, braided dreadlocks.

"Your legs must not hurt that much." The larger grumbled low at the boy, though he didn't seem too irritated. Revelin lied plenty, especially when it came to excuses to get free rides. As long as he wasn't being too annoying, the Lancer decided, he would allow it. It was a faster way to get to the cabin, anyway.

User Image"I'm just standin' " Revelin pointed out obviously, his one bright eye looking down the other's skull. Every now and then it would stray to the small, swaying purple earing that dangled from the other male's ear. The urge to give it a tug was almost impossible to resist. If he didn't know he'd be bucked flying off from his perch for it... "Someone's gotta keep a look-out for attacks, right?" Riiiight. Silver-streaked tails flicked idly- Xaldin was always so boring! He had to have something to do!

"CABIN, HO! C'mon, sprint for it!" He proclaimed, bopping the other a few times on the head for encouragement.

"Shut up."

Xaldin was never any fun!

Valefor shifted idly in the branches, finding herself how wishing for company rather than solitude; how long had it been since she spoke with someone new? Not to mention there was very little activity going on below to hold her interest.

Then she heard voices coming down the path and peeked downward. Whether it was the unique look of the adult, the coat he wore, or the rather... obvious resemblance between the kit standing on him and the little floating Nobody at home, they caught her interest fully. She debated it until they had almost passed her before she finally spoke up. "I take it that's another of Xigbar and Nokomis' kits?"

She shifted a branch out of the way so she could see them better; and they her for that matter. "Or as Bryna might say... "Revvy"?" She'd been told there was only one brother, so if this was indeed him, it had to be Revelin.

Of course, she had no idea exactly how mis-behaved Revelin could be. Bryna liked to make mischief, but she was nothing compared to her brother, even with her abilities. Except of course if they were ever working in concert, but no one had been around to see that yet.

Violet eyes narrowed instinctively as another voice made itself known, head twisting to locate the source. It first he mistook her for some sort of monster- perhaps one of those colorful Heartless evolutions that may have slipped through the void and followed them. Usually those sort of things caught up to him, of all of the Nobodies. Annoying things all the more quickly. However, upon further inspection, he realized it was some sort of mask. Not that those leathery wings made her look anymore normal, though.

"And who are you?" He asked gruffly, answering and yet not answering her question. The illusion, however, was ruined when Revelin pipped up.

"Yep! That's my mommy and daddy!" Now now! Revelin could behave himself in the presence of strangers... for a little while, anyway. Those little tails thumped against the cloat-clad back as the boy's interest in this mysterious new woman became known. "Eh, my sister's the only one that calls me that. 'm Revelin, and this is my uncle Xally~ You know Bryn?" Perfectly sweet in a boyish sort of way, if one was not deterred by the rather toothy grin that was now bared in attempt to look friendly. Xaldin would resist the urge to snort at his acting.

"I am Valefor. And yes, I live with Kitsyn, so I know Bryna and her armsocks quite well."

She hopped from the tree, flaring her wings slightly to control the brief descent before the large appendages behind her back. She was perhaps slightly larger than most kitsu of her body type, but still short compared to Xaldin. The wings made up for that difference admirably.

"Somehow... I doubt you name is actually 'Xally'..." She allowed it to trail off, but had a feeling that Revelin wasn't likely to let him make of a correction.

"Kitsyn?" He'd never met the aforementioned kitsu, though he knew Bryna wasn't being watched by their mom or dad. That was Kestel and Dahlia.

When Vale landed, Rev flicked one of Xaldin's ears with his paw, steering him with reluctance a bit closer to the female. "Does Bryna talk about her awesome only-brother?" He was curious- he was always fishing for compliments one way or another.

"No. And I'm afraid that as soon as you refer to me as such, the conversation is over." A cool statement, with a warning clearly laced in it. He didn't seem hostile, however- he was simply informing her of the terms.

"Don't mind him!" Revelin chirruped, bopping his chin lightly upon the top of the other's head. "Uncle Xally's not allowed to be nice. I, on the other hand..." He reached paws out for her, as if seeking to be transfered to this new female with interesting wings.

Valefor good-naturedly stepped forward so Revelin could hop over. She took care not to intrude on Xaldin's space more than necessary, but she wasn't about to take her mask off. Not for people she just met, even if one was related to her 'niece'.

"She speaks of you and anyone else who impresses her enough to want to." She hid her amusement at her not-quite compliment behind an impassive mask and an even tone. "And I'll warn you now, little one, my mask and my lamp are off-limits." What did that mean? He'd find out if he gave her reason.

Since Xaldin seemed disinclined to give her his name, she decided to call him what seemed appropriate. "What is your power, if I might be allowed to know, Dark One?" She'd been told each of the Organization members had a particular element or some such, but she had never seen one of them aside from Xigbar before.

Churring with pleasure, the boy left Xaldin's head alone and nimbly hopped to Valefor, sliding to the place between her shoulders where he soon sat. "Oh? You mean that's not your face?" He asked, tinting the tone with innocence so that it didn't seem as if he was being rude. Of course, unbeknownst to her, he was shooting Xaldin a grin and a wink before making obnoxious faces. When the other male seemed to be unaffected, he pawed at her wings, his nails scraping over them a bit as he did.

"She does?" He was pleased, really. "Who else?" Nosey brother much?

A jagged brow arched smoothly at the female, and Xaldin took time to roll his shoulders before he even seemed to consider an answer. The title seemed to be accepted, but if she was trying to flatter him somehow, he didn't make sign of favor. Really, his face was just as good as that mask she insisted on wearing. He didn't even have to pretend to feel anything if he didn't want to. "The power to know when not to disclose information like a weather forecast. Why don't we start with how much you know about me already?"

"He's got the power to be a meany!" Tutted Revelin, reaching out to experimentally puff gentle air at one of the female's ears. He was tempted to disclose the information she wanted from him, but this new conversation sounded like it might be promising.

The Aeon craned her head over her shoulder to glance at the kit. "No... it isn't my face. Not this time around. I suppose that eyepatch really does mean your vision is impaired if you didn't notice the lack of movement when I spoke..." There were three at home as bad or worse than Revelin, so she knew that tone. And she masked her return jibe behind what seemed honest sympathy. Her skin was thick in more ways than one, and since he was a kit she'd give him some leeway; her nerves were a little frayed today, though, so she wasn't above cuffing him.

And despite her thick skin the scraping wasn't sitting well. Valefor refurled her wings, giving the kit an ceremonious shake in the process. Did this Dark One have to put up with this all the time?

And it was no attempt to impress to call him Dark One. Simply a statement of fact in her opinion. Sort of like calling the Nightmares the Bereft Ones. They weren't all so bad as to warrant the other title. "Little enough. I was given the imression all of the Organization members had a power, like Xigbar's telekinesis and ability to be infuriating. Idle curiosity, you have no need to disclose anything you do not wish."

It wasn't that she disliked Xigbar, but he could get under fur sometimes. A trait Revelin seemed to have inherited. But still, even she had her occasional respite from the childrens' insanity... "Would you like to come and spend a few days with Bryna sometime, Revelin?" She doubted Xaldin would want to retrieve him for some reason... haha... but she wouldn't let him stay too long. Still; if the large male wanted a break, she had a way to give it to him.

Revelin gave a little ruffle at those words, though a grin also split his face at the same time in hopes of throwing off the observation. Well played indeed. "Not everyone has to talk outta their mouths," He tried to recover, "Some of the cooler peeps can do it with their mind." Sitting back on his haunches, he tapped his head with a toe to demonstrate. The shake successfully rattled him, though he dove for her neck and clung with his nails sinking into the fur. Purposeful, of course, though he mewled with all the charm of a kit as if it were not.

"Hmm. And you believe that individual power is what binds us together as an organization?" Ignorance, perhaps, was bliss as far as that was concerned. Stuck in this world, in this form, meant their secrecy might be a little more loose, but Xaldin was in no place to tell her the one other teensy weensy similarity that binded together. If Xigbar hadn't flapped his tongue that much, it was all the better. At the mention of Number Two's 'power', the Lancer gave a dignified snort. True, Xigbar was as close of a friend as anyone to Xaldin, but there were enough times when the sharpshooter almost made him believe that his rage was real and tangible. Sometimes, he did believe that Revelin was just another one of Xigbar's ways of pissing him off thoroughly.

"Perhaps in time you will know. If indeed you know Xigbar, you'll likely find out soon enough." It wasn't as if he were ashamed of his power- not at all. But he didn't know this woman for one, and the unknown might also give him an edge later. "Though you can be assured we are nothing alike."

"It's Space!" Revelin would correct her, frizzing up offensively. "It's not teleka-whatsit. It's gravity." Because while being psychic was cool, gravity was awesome. However, at the offer he perked, forgiving her for her mistake and taking his claws from her skin. "Would I?!"

A clear of his throat neutralized the excitement in his tone, and Revelin proceeded to grumble his next words. "I mean yeah, I guess I could do ya the favor. She's just my sister 'n all... What'dyou think, O Dark One?"

"Don't care," Xaldin grunted, though his violet eyes studied Valefor quietly, reconsidering. "Don't complain to me when you get more than you bargained for... Valefor, is it?"

When Revelin dug his claws in, Valefor's skin twitched where he'd lodged himself, but that was her only visible reaction. She was tempted to shake and throw him off so she could hook a wing claw under him and let him dangle for a few moments, but she didn't really want his tiny claws tearing through her skin when he was thrown. Yes, he was definitely Xigbar's child.

"What binds people to work together rarely has to do with what power they already possess. It usually involves either a desire for greater power, or some other purpose they all share. What that is... is not for me to guess or to ask. Things like that are told when they want to be told."

If Xaldin had known that what information she got about the Organization had come from Kitsyn and not from Xigbar, and Valefor had known his thoughts on the matter, she might have wondered what his reaction would be. If he had known also that Kitsyn's knowledge of the Organization was completely independant of any conversation with Xigbar or anyone else for that matter... might he have been alarmed? But that secret, also, was not for Valefor to divulge, nor did she know his thoughts to even think to do so. What she did know... was that his claim that he and Xigbar were nothing alike was quite true. She was almost enjoying this little chat, where as with Xigbar she'd probably be tempted to dangle him from her wing if she were her full Aeon size again just the same as she wished to do with Revelin.

Revelin's correction, however, actually pleased Valefor, for all that the kit's "frizzing up" dug his claws in deeper. Fortunately he let go soon after. "Ah, thank you for the correction, Revelin. I was never actually informed what precisely your father's power was. And yes... if the Dark One allows it."

When Xaldin warned her about getting more than she bargained for the smirk could easily be seen in her eyes if not on her face. "I've dealt with far worse. Perhaps not more annoying, but certainly worse." Besides, she lived with a trio of angelic perma-kits that were about as well mannered as Revelin, Bryna, AND Shoom. And the trio and the Nobody/Nobody-spawn were probably going to tear the house apart trying to best one another, but at least they'd be occupied with eachother for a while.

He was proud of being Xigbar's child, too- the evidence had been made clear enough when he corrected her. As for the dangling... who knew? He might have rather enjoyed it. In some ways he was different from his father, but so young in his age it was rather clear who he had taken up as a role model.

"How perceptive of you," The Dark One returned dryly, "Things like that are better kept a secret. For your own good. Curiosity is not a good habit to have."

Oh, it likely wouldn't have been very good. The Organization somewhat prided itself on secrecy; made a point of it. The less people that knew their purpose, the less there would be to fight back against them when the time came. Luckily, she wouldn't make her other source known, and Xaldin would continue to believe Xigbar had been somehow tricked into going into a tirade about himself and the big, bad, club that he was second in command to.

"He says it's okay. Right, Xaldin? Pleeeease?" The last word stretching the corners of his lips to a toothy grin- it was almost a threat.

"Fine, so long as he makes it back in one piece. The mother would never let the father hear the end of it," Which meant he probably wouldn't either. Not that he really cared if Revelin broke his arm or got his ear chomped off, noooo. For all he cared, Valefor could lock him in a closet for all of the visit. Hell, he'd done that himself a few times. "But I'm afraid, my dear, you haven't seen anything yet."

Revelin purred, pushing his head into the feathered neck before him to give a short little nuzzle before he hopped down from the Aeon's shoulder. Brushing himself a little against one of Xaldin's fore-arms quickly before he could be batted off, the boy seemed to be done with the two adults for now. He'd gotten what he wanted, so now he would take advantage of Xaldin's temporary advantage to scamper off to a patch of flowers nearby and promptly begin the job of ripping them up.

The dark eyes followed the kit as he went on for a moment, but the deep question he sounded was for the female nearby. "Like kids, do you?" Well, she had to, if she was willing to deal with siblings, especially THAT particular pair.

"Curiosity is a double-edged sword. Like many things. Sometimes you have to be willing to risk getting cut." The vague tone of her voice made it clear that she wasn't speaking solely of the current conversation, but she was giving no clues as to what she was thinking.

Valefor had never met Nokomis, and actually never met Xigbar in person. She'd seen him around, however; people watching was her usual habit, after all, and she'd been around many of the times he and Kitsyn were hanging out. If her face had been visible as she filed away his name in her small but growing store of knowledge concerning him, Xaldin would have seen a grin just as toothy as Revelin's appear in response to his second warning. "You might be surprised at what I've seen." A thousand years was a long time, and she'd had many things to see, many people to call on her, and she'd certainly learned patience. She had the patience of a rock when she was calm... she simply hadn't been calm of late.

Valefor couldn't help a snort at Revelin's antics before turning her yellow hawk's eyes back to Xaldin at his question. Ah... if he had any idea how much that question hurt right now... he might well have asked it anyway. She had no way to know. "...Most of the time. For as long as my patience will allow." After that? After that she sat on them. Or had Ifrit sit on them. He was much larger than she, after all, and if the kit was... rambunctious enough for her to request it of him, the kit was usually rambunctious enough for him to find it amusing to do so. Actually, she imagined Revelin and Ifrit would be quite amused with one another even without the sitting.

There was an acknowledging grumble at that, for the words rang true in his mind. What he was refraining from saying, however, was the curiosity she might exercise on him would be likely to give her more of a stab than a paper-cut. Words from Xaldin were like the strikes he had made with his genzus perhaps not so long ago- sharp, and with unmerciful force. Not many people had the thick skin to deal with them, and sometimes they could impale completely. Just how much, then, could this people-watcher stomach of them?

"And I just might not care." He pointed out cooly, his thick brows lifting slowly. "It might not do you much good. But we'll see." A challenge? Perhaps, and maybe not. Valefor was not the only one who could use words for dual purposes.

What did he care if it hurt? When one couldn't feel, you didn't produce remorse very well. Those violet eyes shifted to consider hers without indication. It was impossible for him to know that his questions were hurting her at the moment, so for now the conversation was mainly innocent. "You've been a mother before?" He implored, thinking to himself how he didn't think he liked children at all. Patience he had, though- the fact Revelin was alive was proof of that.

"Whether it be obstinacy or apathy, Dark One, matters little to me. In the end I am the one who decides if I want to risk getting my throat cut." Comments dull, barbed, or bladed... she was intrigued. Honestly this sort of conversation was what she enjoyed. There was a vaguely pleased gleam in her eyes. "It's not the first time I've done so, nor likely the last," she added dryly.

Even though this question ripped at her even more than the last she refused to let it force her to dwell on her personal issues right now. "Not... any of my own," she said slowly. "Though I've raised an orphan and helped with some others in my household. We've a trio of non-aging kits... that Revelin rather reminds me of, as well." The triplettes weren't quite as bad as Revelin... at least not separately. Together they'd likely give the Nobody-spawn a run for his money, especially if they caught him without Bryna.
