Discuss. Is all magic evil? Could some of it be from 'natural forces' or even of God? And we're not just talking spells here. Any kind of supernatural powers. Psychics (telekinesis, mind-reading, empathy, etc.), mediums or 'super awareness', reiki or any other kind of force manipulation. Is it possible that these talents are spiritual gifts, or are they all just temptations to lead us astray? I look forward to hearing your opinions.

And anyone who wants to learn more on the subject without being condemned wink : There is a christian book called Dewitched by Tim Baker; it gives all the info on wicca/witchcraft you could need while keeping a Godly perspective. I highly suggest it.

Ok, magic is a HUGE temptation for me... so is yaoi but we won't get into that.. anyway, thats why I say its saintanic. I think things like psychics and that stuff is a gift from God in the sence that the profit's being able to do what they did was a gift from God. I think that Hollywood has played up psychics and stuff like it. As for spells and stuff, well that is saintanic. The bible says that too. Terrot cards, Oigi bords (sorry, I don't think I spelled that right), and all the things like that are saintanic, as is spells. I do believe in spirtits and stuff because I have seen them before (I know that sounds fake but I really have.) and even though they were really nice to me (well, most of them) I still know that they arn't from God. I had one spirit that haunted my dreams for five nights strait. It was a woman that was a lot like an angle I know of so it was really comphorting, and she would sing me to sleep, but each night I was falling farther and farther away from God. when I asked the woman in my dreams to please go away, she started to cry and said I didn't appriciate her. that was the fourth night, and I let her stay. I fell further away, so the fifth night I told her to leave. She started to cry again and I told her that she had to leave. She started screaming. even though it was in my dream it was hartbreaking. In my dream I prayed and then told her that she had to go away "in the name of Jesus" and she started to scream more... but this time it was rage... after what seemed like forever she ran away screaming she would kill me. ever since then I havn't trusted spirits unless I KNOW they are angels... which none of them are, no matter how innocent they are.
In short: I believe that instructions in dreams, proficy (from God) and 'magic' of the like is from God, but spells and other things that draw on power that is not God or ourselves is saintanic. So I will go with everything being saintanic.

Sorry. ^_^ i disagree. if spirits arent of god, whats to say the prophecies weren't? we all know the prophecies were indeed god given, but why wouldnt spells and such be god given aswell? we are all psychic. its just a matter of whether or not we can tap into the energy. no i am not a pagan.

Spells are not of God's power, thats why they are not God-given. We borrow power from sorces around us, many times sprits, to cast a spell. God gave us prayer to fufill our needs and desiers, not spells. Sainten gave us spells.

You say magic. There is nothing in the bible that even mentions magic as being good; its evil. The "natural forces of earth" are all of God. You mess with "magic" and sorcery and that "spirit of earth" jive, you'll find yourself messing in the devil's playground, and he doesn't play nice.

God gave us prayer to fufill our needs and desiers, not spells. Sainten gave us spells. ps. My keyboard isn't working at all so frogive me. you word it as "cast a spell"? While we can do extraordinary things through God....there is no other good.

i dont agree on the everything being satanic
because it is all about what you believe.
if you can dream it to be possible then it can happen, such is the way god made it for us.
I believe God frowns upon things such as Terrot and i know he frowns on quija lol there is no way he could like that because believe me it is a direct link to spirits there are good and bad spirits but even the good are not angels.
I have seen bad things happen during Quija that i wont share with you all due to freakyness lol yes freakyness for lack of a better word.
Even after all of this i believe that it is alright to do these things as long as you are prepared for anything and you have Jesus in your heart and on your mind at all times for guidance

and to ApocalypseV-san: I can understand why you would think that, but God tells us to guard our hearts and minds, and it's a VERY slippery slope. Problems with "magic", "telekenesis (sp?)", and even things like Quija boards and horoscopes, are two basic ones:
In using these things, you're either
a) Trying to take power into your own hands, and relying on yourself instead of God, or
b) Using things to tell the future that are away from God. He wants you to rely solely on HIM.
Again, your logic makes sense to me, but I'm pretty darn skeptical as to whether it's valid...Also, siding with some other people, I've also read in the Bible where God condemns magic. (I SO wish I could remember where...)

(I SO wish I could remember where...)I understand that and i havent done any of those things other than attempt rofl to do telekinesis recently i am trying to stop doing them but once you have done it, it is kinda like an addiction but more like you become a skeptic of what you thought you did then you want to see if you were goin nutters or you really did those things lol. Its hard to stop but truthfully useing the Quija board actually strengthened my beliefs in God. I was loseing my faith in God and didnt believe any form of spiritualism was real, but then i used the Quija board a few times and realised that there are spirits and if there is good spirits then there must be God and since i know there are evil spirits there must be a Devil! Thankyou Viviane_neechan for being understanding with your advice biggrin because i have been getting tons of people making me upset with advice like "No well yo should do this and anything else is wrong and that is bad....." so lol thankyou for putting it lightly biggrin

as for the whole psychic thing, I can tell if people are nice or not, without talking to them, or even watching thier actions, just seeing them once, and bam I can tell you if they are a good person or not, like little kids, I have never been wrong yet, but I still only listen to it if it tells me they are really bad news.

I could tell emotions, a persons thoughts sometimes, and their intentions good bad or neutral. it really freaked ppl out because i would walk up to them and talk to them abou issues that nobody knew about
