That guy is a moron.
1. That was the general way it was back then. If they do portray it that way (and you seemingly have to really look deep into the subtext to find it), then it's just historical facts. And blacks were actually slaves back then, according to my history lessons.
2. Since when is Davey Jones and his crew black? I mean, maybe a few are, but they seem mostly all white to me. I'm not even going to touch the s**t about 'other-worldliness' or whatever.
3. Tia Dalma was beautiful in my opinion. Considering how she was a goddess, of course she'd be into magic and whatnot.
4. The fact is, there are some cannibalistic people out there. Considering how the island was in a location where dark skinned people were the natives, it wouldn't have made sense for the tribe to have been white. Now if it was in a European country or something then I could see the slightest, tiniest justification. Barely.
It's not Disney that's lacking in historical knowledge; it's this idiot. I hate people who just shoot the 'oh you're racist' card into everything. It's so irritating. rolleyes

That article was kinda pathetic was it not? I really don't think that disney were out to get at different coloured people. (Apologies for the crude way that was put...) I'm not being funny but that was rare. I agree with Changing Dominic .. all her 4 points totally sum up my opinion. xx

I agree. Totally stupid. That person is being way oversensitive and looking too far into it. Like Dominic said, it's just being historically accurate. I also don't think that Tia Dalma is ugly. I think she's quite beautiful.
Oh, and I edited your first post to prevent the pagestretch.

Here's what I don't get: why do people accuse whatever of being prejudiced towards something when that minority is in it? I doubt if it was that insulting, the person in question wouldn't be involved. If a woman, a homosexual, a black person, or whatever is willing to act in the movie, it's obviously not prejudiced.
I mean, personally speaking, I would never be involved in something homophobic or transphobic, so...What the ******** are these idiots thinking? neutral

Not everything in hollywood is about race, and it is exhausting when everyone accuses every movie of being racist. Virtually every movie can be tagged as racist if you look into it hard enough.
