ADDITIONAL INFORMATION ABOUT MEGAN ANNE NEITHERS:
This will be constantly added to as we get to know her through RP.
Age: 13
Schooling: 8th grade, a mostly C student
Personality Description: short version Her rag-and-tag, rough, and confrontational attitude is shown in the way she holds herself, she's always ready for something, always ready for a physical challenge, always ready to play rough; however, lot of the rougher aspects of her personality comes from her insecurities. Her clothing, at least, reflects her desire to fit in, even if her attitude and actions don't.
long version Coming onto her teenage years and in her current situation, the only thing nonchangeable about her is that she always seems ready to pounce on something. Some moments, she's perfectly happy with the world, and the next she's mad at everything. AriyaLauna hasn't quite gotten her out of the mindset that Evos are evil by nature, but then, that may only be because Megan has made a habitual game out of doing, thinking, and acting as contrary to her elders as possible -- without getting in trouble. She's still loud, and in her group of friends has become quite bossy. She wants to be the leader and center of attention... But, then, there are those sensitive moments that shows that, yes, she has listened and learned and doesn't necessarily believe what she follows. Evos are evil because it makes all the agency people mad at her for saying so. She's loud because all the world seems to turn and look when she is. She's bossy and judgmental because that means she's in control, and if she's in control, she can't be hurt, something she avoids like the plague with her peers. She seems to measure her worth by what people think of her, her own self-confidence isn't high enough to hold her.
In the end, it all adds up to the fact that she is getting into her teenage years and trying to figure out who she is and what she'll follow.
Past personality: Apparently Megan grew up in a household where everyone communicated to each other by hollering all the time, and it's ovious in the way she almost screams everything she ever says. Megan is suspicious of adults, and very judgemental of both them and her peers. She has an inferiority complex, though, something AriyaLauna has very recently found out. She also grew up hearing that people with powers were "bad" and must be terrified of her position, and confused about her own identity.
Family: A mother, who apparently cares very much for her, and two half siblings. A stepfather who seems to be the root of all of Megan's inferiority problems. This side of her family has decided not to see her again. She also has father who she loves dearly, but who has been in jail. AriyaLauna does try to have visit with him, though, in public locations.
Friends: Currently, none really. She's met one local girl and a local boy, Raleigh.
Enemies: everyone... hates Charles, FC, everyone associated with the agency, anyone who crosses her...
Appearance: Since Megan already considers herself odd, she tries her very hardest to look normal. Her hair is the same style as most girls her age - just below her shoulders and naturally dark brown (AriyaLauna won't let her get highlights). She can't be bothered with jewelry or make-up, so everything else about her is natural, though she still has very tanned skin from both genetics and constantly being outside. Tennis shoes and white socks are a must. She's convinced AriyaLauna to let her wear long culottes instead of long skirts or dresses most of the time. They're always very baggy (something she likes, actually, and is even in style with the boys she hangs with) and usually find themselves rolled and pinned up to just below or above her knees (much to AriyaLauna's dismay). They're usually a solid color resembling pants: blue, black, brown, tan, or khaki. She wears casual, loose-fitting tshirts, never tucked, her favorite ones have some sort of animal or animals printed on it, otherwise, they're the non-attention grabbing kind. Her rag-and-tag, rough, and confrontational attitude is shown in the way she holds herself, she's always ready for something, always ready for a physical challenge, always ready to play rough; however, lot of the rougher aspects of her personality comes from her insecurities. Her clothing, at least, reflects her desire to fit in, even if her attitude and actions don't.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION ABOUT ARIYALAUNA DIEDRE:
Mostly forthcoming, notes as we learn:
Name: AriyaLauna Deidre
Age: 28 years
Appearance: Almost always seen in modest dress: long skirts and tshirts is her normal attire. AriyaLauna's hair reaches to her midback. She wears contacts, and her head hangs slightly. Many would mark her immediately as a teacher-type and bookworm, simply by stereotyping.
Personality Tidbits: Quiet spoken and shy, until a subject she's passionate about comes up. She can put her foot down when needed, but avoids confrontation when possible.
Career: AriyaLauna currently substitutes at the middle school Megan attends and now tutors students, before that she was a high school Spanish teacher
Friends: here, currently none, though she has met Ruriska. She's not sure she likes the woman very much. Although she pities Charles, she doesn't see eye to eye with him and she seems to be more his and FC's enemy than a friend. Is looking for a church home for her and Megan, which should up this.

CLOSE ENCOUNTERS: IC Diary Notes of AriyaLauna
It's a largish journal, likely bought from a bookstore. Leather-bound and with a strap leather bookmark, the pages are thick and the quality is excellent. It is lightbrown, with AriyaLauna's name engraved on it. It sits on her dresser, and her general philosophy falls along the lines of "it's true, why hide it?" An open book for anyone who likes to come along.
Ah, and readers are not in a prying mood today. Perhaps another day then.

SUMMARY OF EVENTS FROM AGES 10 to 12
It had been nearly two years since AriyaLauna had met Megan.
The girl had come terrified, confused about everything, and certain that everyone involved in this new life was either bad or crazy. Anything she wanted or did was contrary to what anyone told her. Megan's whole goal in life had seemed to be to prove that everyone else was out to hurt hurt, and reduce them to tears about it.
AriyaLauna's attempts at trying to calm and tame the girl to her own quiet, conservative ways was, as Ruriska had noted, worthy of some pity. Their lives had been so different, their personalities clashed all the time. It was certainly a goal that wouldn't be met easily, if it would ever be met.
Ini the beginning, the strand of hope for guardian and girl had come in the form of Photon, the mutant who not only originally discovered Megan and took up her training after the disaster with Flashcharge, but had also been the only one Megan bonded with, and seemed to want to bond with. Weekly and sometimes twice a week meetings had kept Megan in check. With these meetings, Megan eventually stopped insisting that she didn't have powers and even grudingly admitted that not everyone she encountered was bad (that, of course, was only true when Photon was around, and didn't include any of the other adults in her life).
When Photon disappeared, he took with him most of those advances. Megan was crushed and her power-training nearly halted. Photon had managed to get her on speaking-terms with Flashcharge, but she still refused to train with him. Darebone could only do so much with her anger at feeling abandoned. Through a slow trek and different events in her life, Megan has opened back up to training, and even begun to allow Flashcharge in on it, as long as he doesn't get too scary.
Her relationship with AriyaLauna isn't now nearly as rocky as it started. Megan learned that hollering was more likely to make things worse - this woman seemed to be made to come up with new ways to torture her (something confirmed when she got a job at the middle school Megan would be attending once she graduated to the sixth grade). AriyaLauna learned that an iron fist was more likely to shoot any chance she had with Megan than force her into conforming.
Still. Megan failed the fifth grade. She was really proud of that accomplishment, because she figured that no matter what AriyaLauna did, she couldn't reach her hands into the schoolhouse if she never got to the middle school. She was even harboring a twisted sort of excited preparedness to deal with summer school. AriyaLauna, despite being nearly driven crazy knowing that Megan was doing it all on purpose, managed to anticipate Megan's moves and did the best thing she knew to do - pull her completely off guard. Megan was surprised to come home the last day to a large cake and a party with her friends. At the end of this, AriyaLauna sat her down and calmly explained that they would spend the summer going to all sorts of wonderous places that Megan got to help decide on if Megan agreed to pick up on her training, not fight about marial arts, do her chores and try to be nice, and attend church services with her.
When AriyaLauna cancelled a visit to a themepark Megan was dying to go to because of some fits, there were very few problems and even fewer trip cancellations the rest of the summer. Desipte herself, Megan grew closer to the woman she was determined to hate. It helped that they actually found some things in common, like really enjoying outdoor activities. Then there were the pets - Megan got a puppy and AriyaLauna a kitten. That just thrilled Megan to no end! She took great pride in taking care of Thumper and even Ragdoll.
Megan started the next schoolyear with a far better attitude, but soon found herself restless once again in the law and order enviornment. Topping that were some kids who kept teasing her for being older! By November, she was endanger of explusion if she didn't stop fighting, even if she was popular among one crowd of ruffians. It was a blessing, really, when an accident in training forced her to stay home the last part of November and until school started again in January. AriyaLauna took a LOA from work, weekly picked up Megan's assignments, and essentialled homeschooled her girl, somethign she'd wanted from the beginning anyhow.
That was a plus for their relationship, but even more than that was the whole Counselling Incident, as AriyaLauna scornfully puts it. With all the troubles she was causing, it was something ordered onto Megan, but not without AriyaLauna fighting it. Watching her guardian's indignation, haring her fight with offficials on the phone, and seeing her wary and knowing from whisperings that AriyaLauna just paced and paced like a caged animal while she was locked in a too cheery room staring down a creepy-cheery woman made Megan like AriyaLauna bit more. More than that, it finally cilcked that her guardian really and truly cared for her, she wasn't bad, even if she was still crazy and Megan couldn't figure her out. She cared. That really blew the girl away.
Ironically, as a result, the psychologist never got anywhere with Megan. AriyaLauna didn't like her, so why shold she try? Megan took great joy in harrassing the woman with her willful stubbornness through alternating periods of pure silence and coming up with extravagant stories that had no pertaining to real life. Sometimes she acted retarded, or would only say one word over and over. Any number of unhelpful things. The best part was that she was allowed to! The psychologist only got frustrated, but never yelled or commanded anything, and even when AriyaLauna was pulled aside, Megan never heard any reproach from her gaurdian, unless she happened to mention how SHE acted in group sessions. That was even more fun. AriyaLauna started with being stubbornly silent, then she started pulling the psychologist into debates, later she kept changing the subject and turning the poor woman round and round. None of it was ever revelant to herself or Megan. And she always played innoncent later about it. Megan liked to see that her guardian wasn't little miss perfect, it drew her closer.
The required meetings stopped at the end of January, on the account that Megan kept her grades up and didn't get in more fights at school. Megan made the minimal grades. She only got into one fight, and that was with one of her rough friends because he called her a sissy for always wearing culottes. After that, she didn't need to defend her pride.
Summer is coming up quickly, with the bright promise of new trips and adventures. She can't wait for it!

Power Discoveries:
Perhaps with her particular abilities, Megan could have gone her entire life without ever knowing that she even had abilities. That probably would have suited the little girl just fine. They weren't Mary Poppinsish, therefore they weren't cool.
It was a school fieldtrip that did it, along with her desire to prove that she WOULD face up to a dare.
-----
"Betcha CAN'T! Betcha're too scared!"
"Oh, but I can. S'not fair though, you always choose truth. I bet YOU'RE the one too scared! Jus' talk big!"
"I choose dares!"
The four ten year old girls giggled. Yes, Megan woul dare, but they all knew that they were all too scared, and the verbal game just prolonged the event. Finally, little Tasha timidly peeked into the the 'employees only' rooom. They EXPECTED her to just run back. That's all she had to do. To their amazement, she went in, after flicking her tongoue out at them. She had just upped the dare and game.
The three remaining - Amy, Vicki, and Megan - looked at each other in shock before Megan went to tipe-toe after Tasha, peeking inside the door and only seeing a hallway, she waved to the others to follow. The clung close to Megan's heels.
Screams erupted when Tasha jumped from a corner and scared her friends, and again when a man entered the door behind them. Tasha's hand flashed out to grip the closest her - Megan's 0 and the two skittered away down the hall, the other two held by the worker.
They found themselves hidden begind a prop in the backroom of the stage.
"Now what?" demanded Megan.
"If they catch us we'll haveta work for 'em forever. Or worse, we'll get into lots of trouble and get smacks," Tasha frowned, "I say we hide 'n' try to sneak away, but if we don't, we'll haveta get knew families."
Megan frowned back. It sounded silly, but there was enough logic there and Tasha sounded so SURE that she believed her, "Will you be my sister then?"

Power Disoveries Part 2:
"Ok. Won't leave you." They held hands tighter.
Before alert could go out that there were kids somewhere, two of the circus workers came in. The man was wearing what looked like a crown of sparkley fire, and kept gaining more sparkley jewlry-fire. The girl walked in front of him, trying to look unconcerned.
"Andy, REALLY......"
"I think we could work. Y'don't want special jewels? Or your own kissing fireworks?" he spoke the last while wrapping an arm around her, "Please?"
"ANDREW! Dont' play like that!" the man from before walked in and snapped, "There's two girls in here somewhere. WE have to find them. Now!"
Immediately the energy disappeared. Megan and Tasha were staring at each other excitedly. He made jewels and fireworks. SO COOL! Oh, if only - both girls enviously imagined being able to do that. Only one of them actually managed it. Sort of.
Shrill screams - Tasha ran out from behind that prop as there were energetic eruptions and it caught on fire. Unfortunately, the fabric was very flammable, "Megan! Megan!"
"Absorb it, Andy!"
"I can't--- move the prop---" Andy was already moving it as he spoke, adn the other worker was helping in a moment. Megan couldn't be seen behind the swirling energy spots. Andy absorbed what he could of it, revealing an entirely untouche-looking girl, except for the crown of dangerous, minature fireworks exploding on her head and firey eyes.
"Andy, STOP IT---"
"I--I---it's not ME. Hey, hey - you, shh - It's ok," Andy put his hand on Megan's head, through the fireworks, wincing a little as he did so, "Sweetie, pretend that there's water running through you --"
Slowly, both the energy-crown and the flaming eyes disappeared with Andy's gentle coaching. And it could have ended right there. Andy took the two frightened girls aside, offering them sweets and some circus souveniours and speaking gently to them. When the teacher came, she dismissed Andy's concerns as pish-posh and said nothing to the school officials.
But at school, Megan quickly became an outcast from her personal group of friends when Tasha loudly proclaimed what had happened and encouraged fear among the girls. Rumors raged so badly that concerned parents were calling the school. Even her family began to get a little short with her. The last straw for the family was when Andy came to check on "the little firecracker." They lost it, denouncing Andy as a freak and responsible for Megan's "problem", and demanding that he "fix" Megan. Not too long after that the agency came along and she was practically flung at them just to get her away, the mother tearful and asking her to be fixed soon, and the stepfather glowering and just ready to get rid of the poor thing.
Megan, outcasted by the friend who said she'd be her sister and disowned by her family, had a serious fall of self-confidence. She was afraid of herself, convinced that she would never be a part of a group any longer. And she'd been taught all her life that people with powers were bad somehow. It would be a long road for the poor girl.
