Well, yeah, who hasn't? I've also glissed my slide off. And played an entire song at contest with a nose bleed and then had to clean my mouthpiece on the way to the sight reading room.

Oh yeah. I've done it before. It was earlier this year right after I got it back from the shop and the slide lock hadn't worked in a year, me and the other two trombones ha to stand and play a soli at a concert and I forgot it was locked. I also got the slide straightened at the same time and kept forgetting that it wasn't "stuck" anymore and the slide kept falling off while I was walking. Thats the same repar visit that the music shop spelled my name "Emo" instead of "Emma".

Lets not forget finding the magical eighth position! I've done that once at a football game while on the field. My section leader almost lost it laughing during his solo.

I did that once, and I couldn't figure out what was wrong with it! So I went to my teacher, and he told me that I had it locked, and I felt stupid.
Same thing happened the next day then...

RebornAngelNer Lets not forget finding the magical eighth position! I've done that once at a football game while on the field. My section leader almost lost it laughing during his solo. That happened to me once during a contest... then my stand fell down, and my music exploded in a flurry of papers. The judges blamed it on the fan in the room, and we had to start the entire band over because everyone was laughing so hard. It was pretty great, though.

The slide lock only works on my concert horn and not my marching horn, so during marching season I hardly ever bother to unlock my slide bacuse it doesn't do anything, but then every year when I switch back to my concert horn I forget about it and don't unlock my slide before playing for about a week. It's especially embarassing becase the first four notes of our band's standard warm up are in first position so I don't even realize until I've been playing for a while.

Yeah, I do that all the time.....
One time, I had just greased my slide, and was warming up for a competition, when I shot my slide off the end of my horn, in the middle of a crowded gymnasium.
And I was sitting on the top bleachers.
Those things musta been 30 or 40 feet high, and I was sitting in the top row, and......
i hit a guy with my slide.
i probably scarred him for life.
can you imagine that?
just sitting there, minding your own business, and then BOOM.
a trombone stabs you in the back.
.........poor kid.
