In 1997 Rhapsody of Fire released their debut album, Legendary Tales under the name Rhapsody. Co-founders Luca Turilli and Alex Staropoli created an epic sound with this first album. they incorporated classical music, baroque and heavy metal styles in a sub-genre they call "Hollywood metal" or "film score metal" because of its resemblance to movie soundtracks. The classical influences include such composers as Vivaldi, Bach and Paganini. The band also shows strong power metal influences and fantasy themes.
to date rhapsody of fire have released 8 studio albums including the phenominal "symphony of enchanted lands" which i would reccomend for any newcomers to the band.
they changed their name to Rhapsody of Fire to coincide with the release of their latest album "triumph or Agony" in order to reflect their more epic standing on said album.

I thought it was because of the confusion due to the music site Rhapsody. But on another note, yeah a killer symp power metal band. My first Power metal band ever actually.

I love them. ALthough the latest album was ok...maybe I need to listen to it again. Sometimes an album doesn't get me until I listen to it again.

Yes that is sooo true. Same with Hip Hop.... stare evilly at hip hop. WHy did you forsake me! *achem* sorry. Yeah I kinda have the same love for Hip Hop as I do Metal. So you can imagine my frustration, although my love for Metal is almost more than hip hop.
