Atalan is a peaceful town, small and reserved but it many powerful sages. Through centuries they have served the Gods. They believe that if they can get close to the Gods they may be able to change anything that may go wrong. The town consists of a large library with books collect from every providence, suburb and city. All of the sages have a wide knowledge of magic and some know fighting skills, although very few. The land around Atalan is used for majic practice and capturing of food.

Cahlind was going around her daily route, window shopping on her way to the Library to pick up yet more books on spell casting. It was a lovely day by her standers, slightly warm to her scales was the way she liked it to be outside, though she found that could be a dislike among the other races. But no matter to that, what was important was that she get to the Library then get back home. Sure she already knew most of the stuff that place had to offer, but one never knows untill they go look. While she was who she was, most people didnt seem to care or worry, so long as she kept to herself in her lair. But today was an outing, so forget those people. Stopping by a window shop she looked in at some new weapons that came in on the carts from other places. Mostly daggers and swords for the fighting type. Only on occasion was their a new Staff for sale in this town. Breathing a sigh she continued down the street.

Disaba flipped through one of the books, 'Black Mage 101'. It's not like she hadn't read it. She'd already read every book Atalan had to offer at the time. She looked around when everyone started whispering, confusing crossing her soft features. When she saw the naga slide up to the store she turned back to the book, placing it on the shelf, then grabbing another.

Other races didn't bother her as much as it did some people. She had seen the naga a few times. Never asked her name but she never tried to cause her harm so she really had no quarrel with the half-snake.

She slide up the stairs into the Library, finding the stairs to be rather uncomfortable, but no real chore to get up with the powerful lower body. Entering the library she slid herself past the shelves lined with the easy book for mages and sorcerers toward the harder ones. She had already read everything for beginers, and none of it held any new information that her family hadnt taught her. Now it was time for the heavier stuff to work on. Maybe that would shead some light into her craft. Picking up an old looking book from the shlef, she gently dusted it off and opened its covers a little to read the first few words of the page she had opened it too.
"Great, old tongue."
She said to herself, hating the fact she would actually have to work at reading the book instead of reading it in simple common. Not like it was much of a challenge, but even she liked having things easy when she could get them.

Disaba walked over to the naga and stood on her toes to get a book.
"This one is in common."
She said as she handed it to the woman. She knew this library better than the librarian. She walked to the other side of the library, hoping to find something of interest. They hadn't gotten anything new in for a few months as it was going.
She shrugged and started to exit, looking back at the naga for a second, then continued on her way.

The naga looked at this person with a glint of confusion and a bit angered by her butting in. Grabbing the book from this person, Cahlind eyed the girl till she was out of view before continuing her browsing. Moving her way toward the front of the Library to check out her arm full of books, which she would probably get through in a week or two. Seeing the girl who had givin her the common book she slithered up and put the common tongue book in her arms.
"Never trust the translation."
She said before heading off home in a slow manner, back to checking out the shops along the way. Sure she wanted to get home as quickly as possible, but today was a nice day for an outing.

Disaba pouted before running up to the naga.
"Translations aren't always bad. Besides I've read them both. They say the same thing, give or take a few words."
She tried to hand the book back to the naga but when she didn't take it she rolled her eyes and walked back into the library to put it back.

Caliban walked through the street, looking for the one he was supposed to find. He looked at the paper but being as he couldn't read it he tapped the closest person on the shoulder, holding it to them, trying to get them to tell him where the naga was. When they pointed down the road he nodded his thanks and started walking.

Cahlind waved off the woman and her book.
"Translations suck."
She said outright before slithering off away from the helpful girl. Reaching the street that housed her Nagaized home she felt that maybe she would get through the day without incident. But the sound of heavy metal on the streets caught her ear. Looking around at the people walking around she could see a Kert in heavy armor. Not usually what those people wore. Tilting her snake-like head slightly it took her a second to decided what to do. With a cold smile she fixed on her face she slithered over to the Kert in Armor.
"Hello there."
She said, one arm full of books and the other resting on her hip where the scales met her human half.

Disaba walked back out of the library and went to sit under a tree. There wasn't much she could do for now but read like she always did. The sun was pretty today but it was almost scorching hot if you weren't in the shade.

*****

Caliban held out his hands in offer for carrying her books. When she gave him her books he handed her the letter that had her picture on it.

'Cahlind,
We need to meet, the Villains need to be spurred into action once again. Our scattered attacks aren't doing much against the Hero's power. We need to regroup our numbers. We sent Caliban you to watch him untill we can get to Atalan.
Shu'

Caliban waited patiently for her to finish reading the letter.

Cahlind tilted her head slightly at the offer, but figured it out gradually enough and handed him the books to hold. Taking the note from his hands the Naga scanned over the letters and glanced up to the Kert after a moment. Scanning the letter again she quickly crumpled it and motioned for the boy to follow.
"Come on Caliban."
She said, leading him back home to wait for Shu when he got there. Untill then, it was just a matter of figuring out what to do with him untill then. Opening the door to her home she slithered in and held the door open for him to come in. Slamming it after him she motioned around the house.
"Set those anywhere and make yourself at home. You'll be here a while."
The house smelled heavily of insense, which bellowed up from sticks scattered around the house.

Caliban placed the books on a nearby table, hesitant just in case she really did want him to put them somewhere specific. When she didn't say anything he placed them gently down.
Not knowing what to do or how to ask for anything he stood where he had put the books down and waited patiently.

Cahlind wasnt even paying attention to him when he set the books down. She was busy in the adjacent room, getting glasses and something to drink for the Kert currently standing in her home. With two glasses in one hand and a pitcher in the other she slithered back out to the room.
"You can sit. I know I bite, but not without reason."
She said, her voice in all seriousness. Setting the items down she refrained from setting down one of the glasses to use for her. Grabbing up the pitcher she poured a dark liquid into her glass.
"I hope you like tea. I make it myself."
She said, setting the pitcher down again to replace with a book.

Caliban sat down and poured himself a drink, picking up the glass like it was the last bit of tea he would ever get to drink.

*****

Disaba was still sitting under her tree when she saw two tall, lanky men that looked a bit evil in appearance. She stood up quickly and walked over to them, not wanting trouble in Atalan.
"Excuse me? Who are you?"
She asked it as politely as possible , trying not to sound noisey. She noticed their choices in mounts, common for villians of their time.
"I can see you're here for dark business but may I ask why in Atalan?"
PostPosted: Tue May 01, 2007 4:33 pm

Shu and Cain had reached the town in less time than it takes most people. As they entered the town they gradually slowed their mounts to a walk. It would have taken a town of blind people to slip by without someone noticing that Shu rode on a Nightmare.

Shu lead the way through the town, followed by Cain who kept behind and to the right at all times. This was normal for them, and anyone who knew them got it off the bat. But today was different because they were approched today by what appeared to be a normal citizen of Atalan. Stopping his Nightmare, Shu took one look at the woman and flashed one of his irristible smiles, one wrapped in his Magic.
"Well hello there."
He said, offering his hand so she might take it for him to kiss.

Rolling his eyes Cain spurred his mount between Shu and the woman.
"We are no one, and our business is our own..."
He said in a flat tone, looking to Shu to get him to move along.

Disaba started to left her hand to his, entranced before the other brought his horse between them. She shook her head and put her hand to the side of her head. She knew that the man had tried something but she wasn't sure what.
"I'm a nuetral. There isn't anything to worry about from me."
She said sternly, placing her hands on her hips.
"My name is Disaba. If you have business here I deserve to know what it is. Considering you're not the one in charge here I should talk to him."
She said rudely to Cain as she walked around his horse to look at Shu.
"Would you like to answer my question sir?"
