So basically, this movie left me speechless at the end. It was amazing, I loved the style of the camera angles and the acting was just so convincing. Not only that, the movie had quite a bit of humor which probably attracted more of a crowd. It wasn’t just some gory war movie, they had to throw a couple punch lines that made it entertaining. But for those of you who thought the movie was good on a regular theater screen, I urge you to see it in Imax.

It’s a movie theater with the world’s largest screen. 6 stories tall and 80 feet wide, lets not even talk about how many speakers were behind it. Watching it on the giant screen actually made you feel like you were in it yourself, and with a movie like this, well you can only imagine what that was like. So, pretty sure the goal is to see it at least 5 times. I love movies that you can watch over and over again, this is certainly one of them. But I must ask, is there anyone else that felt rather lame at the end? Watching all these hardcore men fight to the death, knowing that its an actual event (to some extent) then looking at your life, how boring : P.

XP Call me crazy, but I would not like to die in a futile battle basically being used as a decoy.

They weren't decoys though...they were the first and last line of defense at Thermoplyae. 300 Spartans, 700 Thespians, some 600 Thebens (forced to stay).

They moved because Athens was of course debating a course of action, and, as the movie stated, the Spartans were celebrating a celestial event. And besides, after the childhood a Spartan had, it's no wonder they were more than willing to do such a crazy thing.

I mean those guys were nuts...1 kid died because he hid a stolen fox kit under his tunic. He refused to release it and get punished for trying to steal food. The kit tore his stomach out and he died without a sound.

Well the Spartans stayed because they were trained since the age of 7 to do nothing but fight and win.
The some 700-1000 Thespians chose to stay aswell. The Thebens were forced to stay, and many of them ended up surrenduring.

As the rest of the greeks retreated, The Spartans moved forward to guard their retreat. And beleive it or not, had the spartans retreated, they would have been shunned. 2 Spartans lived from the battle. 1 was sent on a mission back to get help(Hes the one in the movie who has a patch over his eye.). But he failed to return in time for the battle. All of sparta shunned him. He was discgraced. And because of it he hung himself.
The other had an eye infection, and along with another spartan who also had an eye infection, returned home. However, the other one returned to fight. The first did not. Because of this, he was treated as a coward. He redeemed himself later in another battle, but was given no honor as he had faught suicidally.
Thats just one reason they would never retreat.

I just saw this movie a few minutes ago. I loved it. Great fight scenes. I didnt like how they made all the persians into beasts and stuff, though I suppose they were trying to make it more Mythilogical.
XD Best line ever
"Our arrows will blot out the sun!"
"Then we will fight in the shade"
XD And then they start laughing about it when they are getting pelted with arrows. That took the comedy to a whole new level.

Really, if I had to die in any battle, it would probably be Thermoplyae. Its remembered as the greatest "Last Stand" in all of history.
XP Ive been researching the subject lately.

Ha, how ironic, I just got out of the movie half an hour ago, Though I must say, its not quite as thrilling as the first time on a massive, clear and loud theater screen. Though I still enjoyed it. But I must say, I still love those comical scenes, it really is nice to have some sort of comic relief in a war movie. And to be honest, I don’t know how many of you are artists (or merely a claimed artist like myself) but because of the dramatic poses, beautiful bodies, and strong symbolism, it was like a live art piece. The second time around you begin to look at things you hadn’t before, like that scene where the King basically has a fighting solo in the first battle, his poses where truly inspiring. I think the 3rd time around I will bring a sketch book. Plenty of friends have yet to see it, why even my mother is rather excited to see it. Well I hope you all get a chance to see it as much as possible before it’s removed from theaters.

Also, I know many of you don’t really know much about the Halo universe, but since I’ve done some research on the Spartans I’ve found out how much reference Bungie used to make their “super soldiers.” Both were trained around the age of 6, stolen from their families to train for many years. Both would rather die than surrender or give up, and both face impossible odds. How very interesting. God I love Greek history.

Greeks, Romans, and Egyptians are probably my favorite things to study history on.

I love the Greeks, Medieval Europe, Egyptians, and Japanese history. But basically, I love war in history (mainly in the US along with the cultures I just named off) mainly Vietnam, WWII, and Desert Storm were rather interesting to me. But I also love the chivalry of the old days, that’s when men were truly strong and did not fear death because they sought honor. Hey hey, just like them yautja : P.

I really loved the movie, but did anyone notice that although blood was flying everywhere there never was any blood on the ground on the battlefield? I kept looking during the massive battle scenes but just couldn't find a drop confused
PostPosted: Fri Mar 16, 2007 6:46 pm

Yea, 300 is actually a low budget movie. All the scenes on the rocks was the same set over and over. Overall, it was a really good movie, they’re going to make so much money of it. Its crazy popular over here in CA. Yet, I do notice that most of the men are working out more : kinda funny really. For once! A movie us girls can enjoy without being influenced by the media! (if anyone noticed, all the women in that movie weren’t very attractive)

But speaking of God of War, chea, the 2nd one is out, and its pretty good from what I’ve played. But jesus, the first game was sooo short. And damn those non changeable camera angles!
