my horse wont get with in twenty feet of birds or cows but will let a dog come running and barking at him and he wont move
he also thinks he can follow me anywhere i go
oh yah he also licks me

Both of the horses I ride do have a few strange habits. Both of them, when introduced to something new in an old environment will freak. I. E.: When we had a couple of grain bags piled on the hill that we use to get the horses out of the tacking up area to the trails. When they saw them, it took a lot of coaxing to get them to walk by them.

My horse Skippy, he has a MAJOR oral fixation. He will put absolutely ANYTHING in his mouth. He eats meat, drinks liquor and chews on lead ropes. He will walk himself if I let him have his rope, he just carries it happily. Lol, he will bite a man, but has never bitten my mom, my sister or me.

Dakota's just plan weird. he has confidance issues when jumping, and when he finally goes over a jump he couldn't do, he has to shake his head and do a victory lap.....he also doesn't like the end of the cross ties....won't go over there.plus, when i am picking out his back feet, he always lifts the right leg when i want the left....its weird...but i heart him

I don't have a horse, but I can tell you about a strange habit one of my favourite lesson horses has. She has some kind of hair fixation, she just loves to munch on people's hair. o.O And when she does, she won't let go unless you let her chew gently on it for a while.

Riley...
- Steals my gloves
- Throws halters
- Grabs my coat and runs off with it
pretty much puts anything in his mouth...
- Will lay with me on the ground
- Walk behind me and fallow me around
- Runs to me when something scares him
He also has a thing with eatting my hair and trying to give my kisses heart

One of the horses I used to take care of liked to pull the zipper on my jacket up and down XD

Penny, my horse, LOVES rocking back and forth while being brushed around her saddle area. It's funny. She just rocks back and forth in one spot. Another horse I used to ride, Starbuck, had a strange habit of mini bucks while you rode him. It was cute untill he did a mini buck and kicked a near by horse.

Jay-Lynn loves to play 'hide n seek' and he chases me around the pasture...he LOVES hanging out around the fire place during the summer and eating cooled off marshmellows...
also don't shoot a gun or even bring one near him because he will freak and run like a chicken with his head cut off...lol...
and he will only let me ride him...if my mom or anyone else trys to ride him he will try to brush them off on the trees and fence and if that does not work he will bolt for the barn bucking and such the whole way and when he get to the barn if they were lucky enough to still be on he will make a sudden stop and rear up, which usely thouws them off...and then the funny thing is that he then looks at you like 'what are you doing down there?...do you have a treat for me?'...lol...(i know it is bad for him to do this, but his previous owner treat him bad and he has only learned to trust me when it comes to riding...he loves my mom to take him for walks and such...)

My horse loves to lick bits of grass out of his teeth while I'm riding. stare It gets pretty annoying after a while...

Punkie sniffs my boots in line up and looks at them all googly eyed like she's never seen a boot before. She pitches ALL THE TIME and she has an irrational phobia of tractors.

I don't own a horse but I have seen some strange habits.
Over the summer I was trying to get rid of rain scald on Pipers hind-quarters so I was brushing hard and he began to do the funniest thing. He stretched out his neck and head upwards titled slightly and started chattering his teeth. He also began to bend his hock more and more until he had to side step to avoid falling over.Another horse jasper has a spot on his shoulder where he does nearly the same thing as piper but not has much he just kind of bobbed his head in a funny way. They seemed to have a rhythm as well, if you know what I mean.
Also this horse Bertie when you give him a polo most horses would bite and chew it but Bertie sucks and it's quite funny. He tilts his head slightly in the air and sticks his tongue out just a little bit, and stands like that for ages until the mint has dissolved.
I've also seen a few horses eat their eh... faeces. It's not pleasant, and I've seen stable vices like weaving and wind sucking.

My horse Beuford would stop in the middle of me riding him to turn his head and chew on the end of my boot. He never got my toes he was very careful. He also loved having the inside of his ears brushed. If you did that he would stretch his neck out and tilt his head towards you with pleasure

One of the horses I ride hates to go into the wash stall, once he even broke one of the cross ties and ran right out of the barn. Also, one of the other horses I ride has an issue with one of the horses that gets turned out next to the ring, and every time he's out there in the pasture when I'm riding he just freaks out!!! Even just walking by the pasture makes him freak and he then pulls me along up the drive way till were past the paddock...
