Will they ever buy some new episodes!?!?!?!?!?!?!
PostPosted: Fri Jul 01, 2005 10:34 pm

I highly doubt it. Lupin only does so-so for AS.
In any case, Adult Swim can only buy what their offered, so if you want new episodes you have to complain to Geneon.

Around the first few months when I came to Gaia I had a Lupin picture in my sig and I got really sick and tired of having to explain what it was, but the when Cartoon Network ran the episodes again, so many people knew what Lupin III was. So, I think Geneon needs to sell off some more episodes if they want more people to discover the show. That's how I first found out about it. 3nodding

But then again tv is all about ratings, so... sweatdrop

Yeah. I think what Lupin really needs is some decent PR.
When AS did finally get new episodes, who really knew?
Geneon needs to get Lupin advertsied.

I agree. Plus when adult swim did run it, it was on at 1:30 am here. So I think more advertising and a better time slot. And not doing the whole "Oh, we can't air this episode because we might offend ten people" thing. And then people need to give it a chance, since I've run across a lot people who said they didn't like it because of the way it looked. rolleyes

Yup. That episode was barely anything. It was a decent Lupin episode, interesting but no ground breaking. Though, it was interesting because the Berlin Wall was still up in the episode. Maybe they don't want to "date" Lupin in that way, concidering how it's non-existant now.
And a decent time wouldn't hurt at all, seeing as how it's on @ 5 am over where I am (EST).

I don't know what to do with people who just base their opinions about Lupin off of the 10 seconds of animation they watch.
I'd like to say:
"It's from the 70's, for crying out loud! It's not going to look like Inuyasha or
Cowboy Bebop!
Give it a decent chance!"

Of course, that wouldn't help, but it would feel nice to do. xd

Yeah, the dating thing is weird, like how there's Nazi's and the Hindenburg and then in another episode they are playing Pong. xd That seemed a bit out of place.

My brother called the ones who don't like an anime because of the way it looks "Anime snobs", which pretty much fits. I'll at least give a show a chance or two before I make a decision. And the look is pretty much the last thing I care about. But, maybe they need to sandwich Lupin between, say, Samurai Champloo and FMA or something to get people to watch it. Not that I watch either of those shows, but there's a lot of people who do.

Yeah, my friend and her friends were having a conversation about how Lupin was stupid because it looked dumb and it was old. I had to force myself to stay out of that one since I figured they probably never watched a full episode and that it would just become a really frustrating argument and nothing would be accomplished except for me getting angry.

"Anime snobs" fits 'em perfectly. In fact, I think it's funnny to look at Lupin animation 'cause it srota funny to see, for example, Lupin jumping, but jumping higher then humanly possable. And why it's funny is because Lupin stories tend to be (At least in the anime) more human. Not all this fantasy stuff like Inuyasha or FMA.

Hey, don't go away! wink The TV episodes are good. I was just mentioning that as far as episodes go, the one that Geneon is holding off of broadcasting wasn't that bad content wise or that much of a new idea. Considering it uses the ploy of even more Nazis. That's one of the anime favorite plots. xd
Don't think I'm scorning the episodes, though. I love the TV series.
But as for better things, the TV special and movies will give you different milage.
"Castle of Cagliostro" is one of the best Lupin movies. However, as far TV specials go, "First Contact" is one of my favorites of all time. It covers stuff that the TV series can't.
Whatever you do, though, dont' feel bad. The TV series was my only source for quite awhile.

My only source of Lupin at first was the twelve episodes they showed at first on adult Swim and I watched them over and over. So, BlueEVIL420, we were all there once. 3nodding Don't leave. That's why we are here because we all love the show. But just like with everything else, there are good episode/movies and bad episodes/movies.

The only thing I don't like in Castle of Cagliostro is Jigen's english voice, but that is easily taken care of with the subtitled version. I like their Japanese voices. 3nodding

And I agree on the sort of realistic-ness of the anime, Rinu-Yasha. Plus, how they travel to real parts of the world and go into real buildings and stuff. Fantasy animes are good, but sometimes you need to be brought back into some sort of reality. And when Lupin jumps like 80 feet in the air I always call him "Lupin the flea". xd

Well, he does 'flea' from Zenigata..... xp And I really like CoC! It's a pretty good tv special/movie, which ever one it is. The japanese really is better over all, but some of the english voices aren't bad. Well, I was wrong........most of the voices I don't like...... xp

xd Lupin the flea. What I find funny is how they go to "Aflica" not Africa. Sometimes they show a map in the backround and there are dotted lines where they've been and on the map it said "Aflica". Also, in one of the movies or TV specials I forget which one, but they go to a "Japones Lestlaun" or something like that.

Nani, I watched one of the later episodes of Inu-Yasha, and I'm glad Lupin is not like Inu-Yasha IY used to be a show that I'd watch, but now, It seems to be geting draged out so the series can be longer because its so mainstream! Now IY seems just like a half the episodes of the manga and a half is of badly done fillers.

And Rinu, I think CoC is a movie.... ninja

@ Rinu: xd Lupin's voice I can take and Goemon's, but I think he only has like four lines or something in the whole movie. And why do big guys have to have Arnold Scwarzenegger (or however his name is spelled...) voices? It's always like that. It's annoying. mad Anyways, yeah, the other voices are not listenable.

@ Ice: What, you've never heard of Aflica? neutral xd I like Zony, myself. It's like, hmmm, whatever company are they referring to? I have often wondered why store signs have very bad english written on them. And on your Inuyasha thing, it's rather refreshing that Lupin is all seperate shows and that they never made it into a long story. Because really, that's what the movies are for. It's sort of like the Dragon Ball Z syndrome. Although I never read the manga so I don't know if the stories were really that dragged out.

No, I've never heard of it....I'm not very well educated in the names of countrys am I? gonk

I've only read a little of the Inuyasha manga, but the TV series.....oi........

In the Lupin TV series there is only one two parter that I know of, and that one involves Lupins old Girlfriend Cornelia, and this natzi doctor who would do Dead Body hypnosis, or something like that, so he could controll the dead bodys and he did it to himself and to cornelia. That one was, oh, so weird.
