[Noah, 25% Location: The Beach. Anyone can join if they're up to it biggrin ]
Noah sat up on the beach, knees drawn up to his chest. The sea breeze rippled his hair and caused him to shiver. It was dusk, the sun having dropped by he horizon only a short time ago.
He had come to the beach to think, to sort out his thoughts. So much had happened recently...namely finding out he was trapped on an island with animal people...and that he was slowly becoming an animal as well.
He had tried to convince himself it wasn't real, and that it was scientifically impossible to turn into an animal, but just a few days ago...well, he had gone through a few changes. A few rather painful changes. It was harder now to delude himself it was just some island disease that had been making him sick. Not when you had a tail growing out of your lower back.
He had come out after it had gotten dark- which in retrospect wasn't really smart considering the kind of monsters on the island. But he didn't want to go out in daylight and risk anyone seeing him. His changes were subtle since he was only 25% changed, but he still felt like a freak. A stupid freak who probably deserved what he was getting anyways.

[Roxie, 0% Location: Strolling down the beach]
It was official…she had gone completely insane. That was the only logical explanation--aside from the normal I’m-dreaming-and-can’t-wake-up reason. The minute she walked an inch on this island did her mind melt by the heat of the sun and now she was…well to simply put in a state of delusion with hallucinations. There couldn’t be…people who were turning into animals…that was simply insane! The entire idea of turning people into animal-like creatures was a idea straight from Hollywood. There could be no possible way for fantasy to cross over with reality.
Then again…there are no limitations on what the human mind could accomplish--still! It was…unrealistic! And to hold her captive, simply barbaric! What would her mother and brother think if she didn’t return home? She would lose her spot in the ballet company….she wouldn’t be able to perform again! ‘Get a hold of yourself! Barked Roxie mentally to herself. There had to be a reason why this was happening….or at least some way to get out of it.
Slender fingers ran across her right shoulder, a small wince escaped her lips. There was some soreness from the injection from earlier that day. The young woman thought she was coming to the island for a good rest, not to turn into some animal over the next few months. “Just had to go on this stupid trip…damn you Edwin.” She muttered under her breath, continuing on her stroll on the sandy shores of the beach--every island had to have a beach…a requirement she guessed. With her mind buzzing about with questions, Roxie didn’t seem to notice how late the day was getting.
How the sun was closer to leaving for the moon to take over and fill the sky with tiny, twinkling dots. The sea breeze didn’t bother her, well maybe a little. She had practiced in tights and a leotard early in the morning and late at night for rehearsals and didn’t shiver the tiniest bit back in New York. But…she was dancing in a room on stage with bright lights down on her figure to provide some form of external heat. God how she wished she could go back to a time like that.
Out of the corner of her honey orbs did she see another on the beach, a human like her or…a person once human? Stopping a few feet away--afraid to get any closer incase the person was the latter--did fear creep into her heart. Should she turn away and hide somewhere? Or…try small talk? The answer, neither. Another soft breeze of wind brought a tickle in her nose. Bringing her hands forewarned to shield her germs from the outside world did a slightly big, “Achoo!” escape. Waiting a few seconds to see if another sneeze would come out did Roxie momentarily forget just where she was…until she opened her eyes and whipped her hands on her pants--why didn’t she pack tissue?
“Sorry…” That was all she could muster herself to say. At least she did the polite thing by apologizing for sneezing…too bad she couldn’t bring herself to give a proper introduction.

[Ryan, 75% Armadillo]
Ryan walked across the sand, enjoying the feeling of the still warm sand under his tail. It seemed strange, looking back on it, that he would enjoy something like that. But it felt gooood. It was too bad only that last part of his tail touched the ground, but he wasn't about to walking on all fours for it.
He was shirtless; his hunched, segmented back not lending itself to shirts. It didn't matter tonight though, as it was warm enough to go without one, even for him.
His long snout twitched a bit as he caught the scent of a couple people mostly human further up the beach, his ears swiveling forward to catch the sound of a sneeze. Not knowing how keen their senses were, he called out so he wouldn't scare them. "Umm, hello over there!"

((Michel, 100%))
"Bless you." The words escaped Michel's mouth before he could think. Damn reflexes. The bird man scuttered back towards the shelter of the forest, trying not to be notice. The girl who had sneezed was definitely a newcomer and by the way she muttered to herself, he had deduced that she probably didn't think very highly of freaks like him and the other islanders.
His wings opened on impulse, beating the air. The bird side of him was afraid. fly away, fly away something in his head told him. Beating back the impulse, he planted his feet, leaned against the tree like that was what he was doing all along (instead of scuttling away like a coward), and attempted to look cool.

At the sound of the sneeze, Noah's ears (which had become very mouse-like with his last change) twitched, and he whipped quickly in the direction of the sound.
Noah wasn't too 'monstrous' right yet. With his last change, his blonde hair had begun to lighten slowly, though there were a few brazen streaks of white present. There was some light white fur growing along his jawline, as well as some slight fur on his hands. There were other patches of fur, though they thankfully (for him, anyways) were covered by his clothing. A stub of a tail had begun to grow in as well, though it wasn't very long, maybe 7 or 8 inches at the most. His lab coat hung over that, though it did make sitting down a little uncomfortable at times, and so he sat with more of his weight shifted forward, giving his posture a sort of slumped look.
Most arguably noticeable were his teeth though. His two front teeth had lengthened into very rodent-like incisors. His brackets still remained on the long teeth, the braces wire pulled taunt, making chewing and speaking a bit uncomfortable for the man. Never had he hated his braces more than he did now. Not only were they unsightly (in his mind, anyhow), but they hurt and were pretty much pointless.
Noah's ears went back some as he looked at the girl, his heartbeat slowly returning to normal. God, she startled him! He felt a little silly now, but hat only lasted for a moment. At the sound of a new voice coming from behind him-- the treeline, was it?-- He stiffened up again, ears twitching instinctually. His gaze drifted from the girl to the trees just in time to catch sight of the movement of wings. Oh god, it was one of those monsters...
"Vhat are you?" he blurted at the man against the tree, his voice making his German accent obvious. He clamped his hands over his mouth as soon as he spoke, looking rather embarrassed and sheepish about his outburst.
His ears twitched a third time, hearing Ryan call out, though he didn't turn back to see who it was. He hoped it was human, God he hoped it was human for once...

Honey orbs widen slightly, okay…she was the only human here it seemed, which made everything all better. She was able to see the changes of the man before her--who apparently was German by his accent. The ears and teeth were almost hard not to notice. And now she was hearing two very different voices….one said ‘hello over there’ and the other said ‘bless you‘…how many creatures were exactly on this island? ‘More than two, you idiot! Her mind yelled, trying to decide if she should look over her shoulder to see who the first voice belonged too then the other…or just simply ignore them both. Why did she have to open her mouth to apologize? The girl could’ve played it off as a deaf person…it would give her a reason for not returning a vocal response…but then again it would mean she would be lying…
Then again, who hasn’t lied once, twice…or a couple hundred times in their life? Roxie was human--for the time being--and lied here and there. Not enough to be labeled as a compulsive liar but enough to fall in that normal range--if such a thing existed but it probably did. What was she going to do? Simply back away? Stay silent? Hell, do a pirouette to see if she could pull such a stunt in front of these…people…while in the sand too?
‘Just asset the situation…’ Inhaling a deep breath her eyes wandered over to the trees….she was expecting an ape-man…but nope, a bird-man instead. He appeared to be calm and collected--though appearances were deceiving at times…and she didn’t dare look back to see just what was behind her. She had to say something…anything…well maybe not anything like personal information but at least something to keep the awkward silence at bay!
“Umm…thank you…” Well that was a smart move, saying ‘thank you’ to the bird man…now what? Honey orbs averted the gazes of those around her to stare down at the golden tan of sand beneath her feet. “I’m…I’m new here as you can probably tell…” Another smart move…stating the obvious. At least she didn’t say anything life threatening….or scream. Yeah, screaming wouldn’t solve anything…

Noah was going to be very disappointed when he turned around. Ryan, other than a mostly human build, didn't look very human at all. All of his skin was covered in long, grey hairs. More hairs grew out from between the plates in his back. His fingers ended in long, dull claws which were nearly the same length as the fingers they grew from. Pants no longer fit him either due to his plates, a thick towel was held in place by a rope.
“I’m…I’m new here as you can probably tell…”Crap. She was probably going to freak out when she saw him. "Umm, please don't be scared, I'm not going to hurt you; I'm a scavaging species." He did his best to hide his claws, but continued walking towards the genral direction of the group.
"Well, this is certainly awkward..." He said to no one in particular.

A small pang of grief swept through Michel's heart as he heard the german man's question. He had been...how could you possibly describe what he was now? Well, he had been a freak for such a long time that he had almost forgot that it wasn't normal. Then he noticed another guy walking towards the other two. A sort of armadillo-ish looking guy. Great, now there were three people that could possibly be freaked out by him. "Okay," Michel said, trying his best to answer both the german man's (aka Noah) question and the girl. "My names Michel Cousteau, I'm from America and I am now a laughing kookaburra. Yes, I have wings, Yes, I do have feathers on my arms. Yes, I my laugh has now been transformed into something so weird it scares me. Anymore questions?" He hoped he had covered the basic questions. He didn't like people gawking at him. "Oh," he added, " don't worry, the kookaburra eats mainly bugs and very small snakes, so if your not turning into either of those, you don't need to worry about me eating you."

New. Of course the girl was new...she didn't seem to have changed at all. If she wasn't aware of the island's truth, then she sure as hell had to be now. He felt like more of a freak than ever, and his large ears, and incidentally his whiskers as well, drooped unhappily.
He wished he could be human again. Or not turning into an animal. That'd be swell. Beyond well, it would be god damn amazing. He sighed miserably; there was no going back now. How utterly depressing.
he slowly turned around, hearing the man behind him approaching. He winced a bit when he saw him...another animal person. This one...he seemed very far along, almost as far into his changes as the bird-man by the trees was. He eyed the blunt claws that the...armadillo...was trying to hide. Despite the assurance he was only scavanger, the claws were still making Noah uneasily.
He only half-heard the bird-man's questions. He could hear blood rushing through his ears, and his heartbeat hammering inside of his chest. Monsters. Freaks. He was nearly surrounded by them, save for the girl-- even if it was only two of them. And he was going to become one of them. He couldn't stop it. He couldn't help it. There was no way to change anything, to go back. He started to hyperventilate at these thoughts, looking nervously at the people around him. People. Too many people.
He jumped up quickly and held his hands out defensively, stumbling backwards a few steps. He looked at the group again, suddenly feeling stupid. he swallowed deeply, cold sweat beading on his brow. He lowered his hands, scratching at the back of his left hand with his right nervously.
After a few moments of awkward silence, he figured he had to say something. Anything.
"Haow...haow ist everyvone?" he ventured sheepishly, his voice cracking slightly. God he felt stupid. Why'd he have to overreact like that? He should just shut up and stop talking. Just. Stop. Talking.

A small chuckle escaped her throat, kookaburra…Michel…was that bird whom she used to sing about as a child. The lyrics and rhythm to the song hummed through her mind, breaking the small tension of having a scavenger species behind her...and coming towards the newly formed ‘group’. Still the phrase, ‘don’t be afraid’ didn’t necessary prevent fear but rather invoked it. ‘Okay…scavenging species…umm vulture? Another bird person? I don’t know!’ Feeling a bit frustrated that she didn’t know any other scavenging animals--and lack of attention during biology class in her high school days--did she look up to turn ever so slowly to see who was coming up.
A thin eyebrow rose…he was an armadillo? Well…not entirely, there were some human characteristics about him. However…those characteristics were very few….perhaps his transformation was almost complete? ‘Didn’t know it was a scavenger…’ Thought Roxie, briefly recalling another childhood past time. Some old--and very phony with low budget production--children’s show of good versus evil. And in one episode…a evil armadillo, the things her mind recalls when in a tense/awkward situation. Luckily she didn’t verbally express her thoughts otherwise she would be labeled as the craziest person on the island--except for Dr. Moreau, she supposed.
And now…the German man looked as though he was having a panic attack, he couldn’t be scared of these….err the others right? He was on the island longer than she and thus be at least more accustom to it than her….right? Roxie winced slightly seeing him stumble backwards, he didn’t want to go through the ‘metamorphous’. Neither did she--hell, she didn’t know what animal she would turn into. Her mind began to reel back to the exchange of words while being administered her first shot…curse her short term memory!
A few moments of awkward silence and the girl disliked it greatly. The lack of sound made it more apparent they were unfamiliar with each other, scared….lonely, even? Closing her eyes for a moment to place the mask of courage she wore on stage did she inhale deeply before exhaling to calm her jagged nerves. “I’m okay aside from receiving a shot. The name’s Roxie and…you all right Sir?” She asked, after finally introducing herself…for a moment she chewed on her bottom lip, trying to think up of anything else to say before the silence returned. “The kookaburra from what I remembered is suppose to be a funny bird, I mean in a good way. You know like that old song from childhood?” The words were forced and laced with nervousness. Hopefully she didn’t hurt Michel’s feelings…she was just trying to lighten the mood?

Ryn stopped as he saw Noah backing up. He really didn't think he was that frightening. Was he? But he'd been on the island long enough to know that the guy was afraid. So instead of moving forward, he just sat down where he was, fidgeting with his tail and brushing sand off the hairs on it.
He hadn't really noticed Michel yet, but now that he spoke, it was kind of hard to miss the huge, child-sized beak.
"A Kookaburra hun? I used to work with those. Nice birds for the most part. Oh, they eat rodents too." He was, unfortunately, unaware that Noah just happened to be a rodent.
I'm doing well, actually. Finally starting to settle in around here. well, as much as one can, anyway. Oh, and my name is Ryan, by the way, and I'm a Little Hairy Armadillo, though 'little' doesn't apply in my case."

Michel was glad that he had left out the part of kookaburras also eating rodents. The german man would probably suffer a fatal heart attack if he knew, seeing as he looked like he was turning into a mouse. When Ryan so kindly added that in, Michel mentally smacked himself in the head. "Not that I would, uh, ever dream of eating you, of course!" He quickly stammered. He wasn't sure if the other guy heard him, but it was nice to just assure him, right?
Suddenly, he realized the girl, Roxie, was saying something involving kookaburras. He had to force his eyes away from the mouse-man's panic attack, which was actually quite amusing to watch, even if he was recovering. "What?" he asked a little bit vaguely." Oh, yeah, I know that song. 'Kookaburra sits on an old gum tree' right?" He tried to overlook the fact that Roxie had seemed very strained when saying it.
"Hey Roxie, listen, don't worry okay? You don't get shots everyday at least and the folks here are really nice." Okay, so that was stretching it a bit. There were some people on the island that wouldn't qualify as 'people', inside or out. But he didn't want to tell her that, it would only stress her out more.
"So, looks like we got here a kookaburra, a armadillo, a mouse, and..." he trailed off, "did they tell you what you were going to turn into Roxie?"

Noah gave a nervous, and slight high-pitched laugh at Roxie's question. He waved a hand nonchalantly, trying to act somewhat normal and collected. he was, of course, failing at THAT. But that didn't stop him from trying. He forced a smile, but then he realized that, due to his rodent-like teeth and his braces-- god, he hated his braces-- smiling wasn't the best idea. He quickly let the smile fall and close his mouth, though the tip of his top incisors still hung out of his mouth. Damn rodent-teeth. He looked down at the ground and nodded feebly.
"Ja...just fine." He flicked his eyes up at her. "Mein name ist...Noah. Pleased to meet you, Miss Roxie."
He lowered his head again, Ryan's comment about Kookaburras not really bothering him much...it was Michael's comment that made his skin go a few shades paler. His large ears twitched and he snapped his head up, mouth sort of gaping.
"A MOUSE?" he gaped in disbelief. "A...a..MOUSE?"
He figured...he figured he was probably becoming some rodent, judging by the teeth, whiskers and ears...but a mouse? He had worked with mice for years in the genetics department-- they lent themselves very well to testing. But it seemed now...he was the test animal. Maybe it was karma or something. He didn't know. What he did know it that he was less than thrilled with becoming a mouse. Great. Just great.
Now Ryan's comment about a kookaburra eating rodents was making him a little nervous. He shot a quick glance at the bird-man, his teeth chattering in that nervous, rodent-like nervous manner. He...he looked human enough to not be eaten by the kookaburra, right? He had barely started to change...he was in no danger, right? Then why was his heart beating so fast...?
He shook his head, trying not to spaz too badly. Of course, he was failing at that too.
He looked at Michael, glowering some. "Nice? Ze people here are NICE? You forget zat ze 'people' are turning us into ANIMALS!" he exclaimed exasperatedly. He wasn't trying to be rude, he just had a LOT on his mind right now. He chuffed unhappily, shaking his head. He plopped back down on the sand, resting his chin in his hand. "Zis sucks." he said plainly and miserably.

(Bing- Nonmorphic Sand Fox Yes, I know they look like Fennecs. XD 100%) Bing smelled something. It smelled like prey. This wasn't any kind of insect or anything like that, but it was actual meat. Like mice and stuff. Well, it's been a while since he's had a decent meal, it's been a while since he's been human ethier. Being a fox was a lot more fun. It definately was more fun then working in front of a computer all day. He did miss having thumbs at times. Whatever, he had more fond memories here more then anywhere else, so it couldn't be all that bad. Now wasn't the time for thinking though, he could see the ears of the mouse above a large sand dune. Which was pretty small compared to most average sized people. He ran up the pile of sand and pounced on Noah. More like a glomp, seeing his tiny legs were spread out in a sort of "BANZAI" position. He hit the back of the man with his muzzle. Bing squeaked, then whimpered as the hard pain from his nose irritated him. Should have thought a little bit before doing that.... Bing trotted up to the giant mouse for a closer look. Oh, it was another islander. He looked in front of the mouse person to see another islander, he looked around, and another, and another. Whoa. Bing's attention went back to the mouse person. "Hiya."

A faint smile traveled to her soft pink lips, yup that was indeed the song! ‘At least my sanity is still…somewhat in tact.’ Thought she, trying to recall more of the words to the childish song. Another strand of her locks fell in front of her view, gently tucking it behind her ear did one sentence of the Kookaburra come back into her mind. “I remember the verse going, Kookaburra sits in the old gum tree. Merry, merry king of the bush is he…something of that sort.” Roxie explained trying to sing the verse just a little. Her voice wasn’t that great for singing, sure she could carry a tone but anything else beyond that was bad.
But hearing the part of the Kookaburra eating rodents….now that was bad. Honey eyes shifted over to the mouse-man. Just why did Ryan have to say that? ‘Oh God what if I’m forced to eat…insects or…mice?’ A tiny shiver came down her spine…a silent prayer was sent to heaven, hoping her ‘transformation’ wouldn’t lead to such a thing. Thankfully though Michel didn’t eat rodents…or ones at least Noah’s size--she hoped so. To eat another…person was barbaric--though now they were reverting back to such times on this island.
And hopefully Noah would calm down…it scared her too to see him in such a state of distress. Then to give the comment of how nice the people on the island were….Roxie had to agree with Noah on that. They weren’t nice--at least the scientists, otherwise….they would let them all go back home! Though for the moment…the people she was meeting now, seemed nice. Though that could change later on when they found out what animal she was going to turn into. A small sigh escaped her lips, her gaze turning downward. “Yes…it does suck…” She said sadly, one arm holding the other.
The question of what animal she would turn into came up…now how to exactly say she would become a crane? Did people even know about the actual animal anymore? Or would they assume she would turn into a walking piece of origami? Unconsciously she placed her feet apart a little into second position…it was a unconscious habit of keeping her feet in the classic first position pose with her feet. Years of ballet does that to a person, especially a ballerina. ‘Might as well get it out…’ Biting on her bottom lip for a moment did her right foot slide gracefully in front of her outturned left foot, fourth position. “I’m apparently…going to turn into...” her arms floated to her sides, elbows slightly bent to give her the illusion of wings. Bringing her arms near her chest, her hands resembled those of dolls, cup shaped with the middle finger closer to the thumb. “A Japanese crane.” When those final words came from her lips, her hands were placed closer to her chest, forming an ‘x’. A small smile came tugged at the corner of her lips, by doing that small exercise did she feel like she was a normal person again, not stuck on a island with a ticking time clock of when she would transform into an actual animal.
A startled yelp escaped the ballerina, breaking her perfect position to jumping back a few inches away. A fox randomly tried to pounce on Noah! She stayed perfectly still, trying to figure out if the create was an animal…or human turned animal. By the word of “Hiya” from the fox…it was needless to say it had been human before. “H-hi…” She poke nervously, afraid the fox would try to eat Noah...and then maybe her…there weren’t any reports of foxes eating humans…though in nature the wildest things could happen.
