[] I have just recieved my Feburary Issue of Shojo Beat (I missed everything between November and January, I'm so mad!) but I was almost instantly overjoyed when I saw the front cover of Nana Kitade, possibly the most adorable Goth Loli ever! I've only just skimmed through it, but so far I've spotted everything from hair-dye tips, fashion tips, an interveiw with Nana Kitade, and an article detailing how to make a cheap, but oh-so-adorable Sweet Loli outfit! I'll be sure to scan in all of that A.S.A.P. for the rest of you to see. For now, see you! (I have chores to do stare ) (P.S.: If this isn't where this thread belongs, I'm sorry! Please move it to your discretion!)[]

I wanted to vomit when it arrived in the mail. I really don't care for Nana. I describe her as the Japanese Avril Lavigne. She tries oh-so-hard to be punk yet fails miserably. Most of the content in this month's issue was good. I didn't care for the interview with Nana, obviously, and I found the DIY Sweet Lolita dress to look hideous. Perhaps with a prettier model and a better color choices it would've looked more appealing.

I TOTALLY AGREE. I actually rather like Nana Kitade though, but i HATE how people refer to her as "The Queen of Gothic Lolita".

No. Just no, plain and simple.
And that DIY thing make my eyes bleed. It was like Little Bo Peep meets picasso. It was an eyesore....><
The editors have really been bugging me lately...I think they're seriously under-informed about Lolita.

Overall I didn't like the articles in this issue, (those "valentines Day" recipes didn't look very romantic or cute at all. :/ NOT what I was expecting), but as usuall, I loved the actual manga part. XD;

I totally agree with everything you just said.

Those bloomers are MADE OF FAIL. Please, no one try to re create them.

oooh, yes, I'm subscribed to Shojo Beat. I got it a few weeks ago!

I was severly dissappointed in the whole gothic lolita thing. I'm quite fond of Nana Kitade, so I paid attention but really nothing made me smile or squeal in this issue [and I was looking forward to it for so long!].

I despise their sweet lolita DIY. I expected better.

ew really? i didnt know she was a "lolita" i always saw Kana as being the queen of lolita because she makes all her own clothing and they are all adorable!!

I've never heard much about Nana...but I'm still excited to pick up this issue!

I'm just glad the fashion is being represented by a magazine I can trust actually understand Japanese fashion, as opposed to those teen magazines that just say "HARAJUKU GIRLS!"

All I know of Nana Kitade is that she did a really cute cover of Moonlight Densetsu on one of her albums when she was starting out-- that and she came over to AKon this year during the summer. I didn't go because I didn't know much about her [and the bands are the only reasons I really go to cons most of the time].

As for ugly outfits, I'd like to see scans of them, please! Are the outfits not salvagable at all? Is there nothing in them that could be workable?

As for Lolita appearing in a magazine that is "trustworthy" over here, I really don't count the translated magazines that are brought over for the sake of selling manga. They're all just filled to the brim with merchandising ploys between the chapters of manga, from what I've seen of them..

  • The bloomers are a bit too long for my taste.
  • The color scheme is HORRIBLE. Where the ******** did she get the gold and reallydeep burgundy(is it black? I can't tell) from? She should've just stuck to varying shades of pink. I'd love to give the girl the benefit of the doubt and say "Well, maybe she saw how horrible it was but didn't have time to change it since she was on deadline," but still.
  • Something about the top just seems weird to me. At first I was like "Tanktop over a blouse? What the ********?" but I guess that the entire nightie goes over top of the blouse. With a better photograph, I'm sure it would look worse. It would've been better to instruct people to add all the embellishments to the blouse, hack off the top of the nightie, and put some elastic in the bottom part that remains(for the skirt).
  • The bonnet doesn't look bad. If I ever make a sweet lolita outfit, I might use that bonnet as a reference.

Overall, the outfit failed.
