After much debate, we have finally formed a peace treaty with the Gaians in White, and hopefully made us one less enemy. Please abide by the terms of the treaty, and treat agents of the GIW with respect. Quote: Terms of the Treaty: 1. A state of peace will exist between GIB and GIW. There will be no hostility between agents of GIB and GIW. If such hostility takes place, disciplinary action will be taken. 2. If war should break out between Gaians and Zurg, the GIB and GIW will work together to defeat the enemy and protect the people of Gaia. 3. However, both groups will use combat only as a last resort, and attempt to solve all conflicts diplomatically. 4. Agents from the GIB and GIW are encouraged to share intel on the Zurg between the two groups. 5. Agents from the GIW will not claim to be from the GIB. Additionally, they will not claim to have GIB support on any action they take unless it has been cleared with a GIB crew member. The agents of the GIB will show the same courtesy to the GIW. 6. The GIW will remove all references that insinuate that they are to replace the GIB (Such as the slogan "Soon to be your last line of defense"). 7. GIW Agents will not dress as GIB Agents in order to avoid confusion. Black suits are our bag.

Okay, I see people are voting "undecided," but I still want to hear your thoughts.

Hmm... I've met Silver; he comes to the thread in the Mothership from time to time... he's a nice guy, I guess...not very literate sometimes, but that's not a thing in which I can base my jugdement. And there's this girl there, a_shy_girl_1999, who's from GiW and is trying to get in GiB- she's a great person, and I highly doubt she hates us ^^¡ I've heard of GiW hate towards us, though, and I think I saw some of it's members mixed with little groups of the Resistance in raids to the UFOs... I don't know; I'll research a little more about it's members first. Anyways... I just searched, and I couldn't find it, but there was this group, "GIB: Code Black", that's supposedly formed by those who couldn't get in GIB:CW. And there's this sort of dead thread, of the GIB Wannabes @.@ Link. I don't really know what to say about it..

Even if the moderates want to ally with us, there will always be dissent from the radicals, and they can get to be quite noisy. Find a way to deal with the radicals first before allying with the organization as a whole.

How about allying temporarily on some kind of trail basis. If there members become too extreme etc, we could simply not be allied with them any more.
Meaning that we're seen as trying to promote peace not violence. biggrin

She is a great person and a great friend to me. Her goal is to be enlisted in the GiB. When the guild had openings for the GiB, I told her to enlist, but she declined. Then when she found out that I joined, she was sad. I give props for a_shy_girl_1999 for not giving up.
Back to the subject, well I do not know that much information about the GiW. We may never know if we still have some Gaians out there that hate us for not letting them join. We should keep a close eye on them, just to be safe.

Well if we ally with them and become a part of their group, it would be much easier to keep a close eye on them, but be careful. It might makes us look even worse. I don't think everyone is there cause they hate us though. I was there cause I just thought it was an RP. lol Naive eh? Anyway, I am not sure what to tell you.

I think we should agree. Alliances are always good, and although they have been hostile to us, they also have been working towards similar goals- they, too, want to protect Gaia and maintain peace. And friendship and peace is the best way to dispell darknrgy.

Buddha teaches that one should accept all that is based on love and kindness. This, however, is not one of such things. The members of GiW are likely going to continue to harbor negative feelings towards us, and I really don't want to consort with those who dislike me. Their hate spreads from jealousy and confusion, a lethal mix, and as such, I am hesitant to grab hold of a tainted olive branch.
However, Ghandi teaches that one can live a charmed life, if they cast away their delusions of dislike for others. By simply realizing that there is only something wrong with another when you qualify that wrongness. Until it's been qualified, it's only a piece of character. Under this teaching, I would certainly be willing to accept the GiW into my heart.
For the time being, I think I must say that my heart swings in the 'no' direction for now, but only due to my supreme dislike for organizations with foundations of hate and detest. I mean, what kind of whiny suck makes a guild because he couldn't get into a group? And above that, he declared that his main goal was to eradicate us.
I don't know if I really want to hang with the guy who said he was going to kill me. It just seems... Unwise.
But that's just my opinion, of course.

The enemy of our enemy is our friend. In this case, our enemy is war, and if they want to avoid a war if possible, I say we can ally with them.
Although, we must let them know that we are much, MUCH more strict on the peace part... and we won't have any part of them if too many of their members disagree.
The GIW have been ticking me off for a little while now, especially since they came after the first GIW, now the GiB: Code White (which I made up thank you very much).
But peace between humans, can help lead to peace between all races... so while it's on sketchy ground. I say go for it.

In addition, we need to make sure they break ties with anti zurg groups. After going through their list, I only found one, so I'm not too worried... but still make sure to state that.

+--The only logical strategy I believe we can take is a truce rather than a full on partnership. What I purpose is that we have a player, most likely an intelligent literate player, make up a full blown contract of some type. It includes when and when not to attack, how to treat those in and outside of our groups, and what to say about the zurg to the public. Each leader will have to have a vote in their guild to see if the majority approves of the contract. If a good majority agrees with it, the leaders will give their agreement to form a truce. If one of the rules in the contract is broken by either group, the truce is broken.
I believe this will keep both groups happy as well as keep up the public relations area.--+

it'd be interesting to become allies with them in my opinion. why not accept and see what happens? it's not even THAT big of a chance we're taking... i say go for it. ^^

Maverik1 it'd be interesting to become allies with them in my opinion. why not accept and see what happens? it's not even THAT big of a chance we're taking... i say go for it. ^^ +-- We still have to be cautious. A lot of those who joined the group had a prior dislike for this group. Becoming their allies could mean they could say things that are untrue about the GIB. Such as, "We hate the Zurg empire. The GIB are our allies, so they agree with us."
There's too much at stake to become full on allies with no catch.--+
