Dreaming is the term loosely given to those who can use the arts of Fortune Telling and Prophecy to foresee what is to come. On the Dreaming Planes, you can interact with spirits of others dreaming, commune with ghosts of those long since passed and seak guidance from power animals and other essences of the World.

Dreaming is a difficult art, and often misleading. If you are wondering about what may lay in store for your Empyrean, you can pay Ardys a fee and he will search into your future for the information you're looking for.

Beware...these things are never certain...although some say that using these arts helps to form the paths of your future, to will certain events to happen. If your will is strong, and your conviction great, you can shape your destiny. This is the true essence of Free Will. It is not being removed from the cycle of the world, as the Outsiders believe, but the ability to move within the cycles of the World, and chose between paths of your future.

The Dreaming Pool is a ornately built temple of crystal and glass. It bears a howlite and sodalite mosaic foor, patterned to look like the sky. In the centre of the floor is a crystal basin of quartz filled with shimmering liquid. When not serving curious customers, Ardys spends his time draped along the Pool's edge gazing into its depths and seeing the possible futures to come. It is said that his abilities are so powerful that when he suffers from prophetic nightmares, all those within the Blue District are affected and suffer empathetic dreams.

One must remove their footware when entering the Dreaming Pool, and it is best to whisper, so as not to disturb the spirits that often dwell in Ardys' gentle presence...

Echoes are a very rare occurance, but when they do arise, they are said to become very powerful.
Occassionally one Essence is divided between two bodies, and the pair of Echoes will share certain abilities, such as empathy, telepathic communication, wordless understandings.
In the Gathering of a Husk, on rare occassions, the source of potential is in the form of two Husks, generally identicle in appearance, but of extremely rare occassions merely what the Outsiders call Fraternal.

Restricted Events

There are some events that are not allowed to happen to Empyreans without first discussing it with the Metatrons. There are different reasons for each restriction, but here is a few of the major ones:

Encounters with the Metatrons -
Description: Having one of your Empyreans meet one of the Metatrons in person.
Type of Fortune Telling: Pyromancy
Price: 5000 Sol Credits
Reason for Restriction: Meetings with the Metatrons are very rare, and can cause the Empyrean to become incredibly powerful. If you wish to perhaps some day have your Empyrean grow to become Metatron, you will need to meet the Metatron of your Alignment. It requires a lot of planning, and foresight.

Death or Severe Sickness -
Description: Having your Empyrean die permenantly or to be brought back from the dead, or a severe debilitating illness.
Type of Fortune Tellings: Lecanomancy
Price: 5000 Sol Credits
Reason for Restriction: A lot of work and love has gone into each Empyrean, so there best be good reasons for killing off your Empyrean. It requires a lot of thought and planning, and you'll be affecting all the Empyreans yours has met during their existance. Once dead, you have two choices: either letting your Empyrean become a Mara, or other monster (if you chose to have Illness be the cause of death), or you can have your Empyrean Resurrected. Now, if you choose Resurrection, you'll need to make sure that someone qualified and powerful enough to perform a Resurrection Spell is present when your Empyrean dies, so that they can be brought back to life. Bringing an Empyrean back causes their essence emitions to constantly trail like smoke off the Empyrean's body.

Encounters with Husks prior to Collection or Outsider Family Members -
Description: Conversing, or otherwise interacting with an Husk prior to abducting and infusing it with Metatron Essence. Also, meeting Outsiders claiming to be family of the Empyrean (such as Paxar) when on a trip beyond Empyrean City.
Type of Fortune Telling: Aeromancy/Astragelomancy
Price: 1000 Sol Credits
Reason for Restriction: These things require a great deal of information about the workings of Empyrean City, including information that is not "taught" to the Empyreans. While this information may be surmised or learned through RP or Events, they are not supposed to be things that most Empyreans will ever encounter or learn about their origins.

Prophecy

If you have decided to plan the future of your Empyrean you will need to select a type of service from those below, fill out the form provided and PM it to Taro Rae. If there are any fine points needed to be hammered out, such correspondance will be done through PMs. When all is sorted out, a time will be arranged for the Empyrean to make an appearance in the Dreaming Pool, and Ardys will read their Fortune.

Due to there being only one Ardys, at this point in time, only one Fortune can be read at a time, and others must wait for the current fortune to finish before they may approach to have their Fortune read.

In the event of several petitions being filed before any fortunes are read, they will be read in order of the date they were sent.

Path

Tasseography - Career Advice
Price - 100 Sol Credits
Tasseography is a form of Divination performed through reading Tea Leaves. The Dregs of a cup of tea are swirled around three times inside the cup, and the cup is then inverted on its saucer. The Seer then takes the cup and interprets the patterns of the leaves inside it. The Leaves closer to the rim are said to relate to events just about to pass, while those at the bottom represent the distant future. The following patterns are considered Omens of great importance:

Capnomancy is a form of Divination which reads patterns in smoke. Usually, sacrificial offerings are made to the Spirits and incense thrown onto hot coals. Generally Tangerine or citris blends are used to read for friends, Rose and Ylang Ylang for current lovers, and Cinnamon and Myhrr for potential lovers.

Geomancy - Outsider Encounter
Price - 800 Sol Credits
Geomancy is the form of Divination that interprets the pattern of objects thrown on the ground. Gravel, small stones, sticks, seeds or jewels can be used depending on what the skryer is looking for. The Skryer holds the objects in cupped hands and concentrates on the divinatory request. Then, opening their hands, the objects are allowed to drop. Interpretations are made through the hightened intuition of the practitioner based on the patterns the objects form along the ground, such as the shapes of words, pictures or runes.
Gravel - War with an Outsider Platoon

Sticks - Individual conflict with Outsiders
Seeds - Conversation or dialogue with Outsiders

Ichthyomancy is a form of Divination that sacrifices one of the glittering silver fish from the Dreaming Pool and guts it upon the altar. The entrails are strung out over the altar, and the patterns, colours and details of the fish's belly are examined and interpreted.
An aspiring Hunter, wondering where the Monsters will next strike? A Monster Trainer looking for a specific monster to bond? Need an alchemical component that isn't available in the Apothecary? For the most detailed information to be had about the movements and patterns of the Monsters of the world, Ichthyomancy can reveal in the short term, what is approaching, and how well you will fair against your Monstrous Foes.

Astragalomancy - Encounter with Outsider Family
Price: 1000 Sol Credits
Astragalomancy is a form of Divination that once was practised with Outsider sacrifices, until it was decreed too damaging emotionally to the Empyrean for whom the fortune was read. The form of Divination still uses the remaining knuckle bones, ritual stones and small pieces of driftwood carved with runic letters. The Skryer has the Empyrean form the question, and then rattles and rolls the mix of objects on the ground. When they roll to a stop, the sides that face up form a whole which the Diviner interprets.
If you wonder about your origins, where you came from, or whether or not your family might still exist out there somewhere, Astragalomancy can tell you if they've let you go from their hearts, or if they still search for you. You can learn if perhaps there is a sibling out there who is the right age to take as a Husk, or if your family members would recognize you in full Empyrean form were they to meet you. It is a dangerous choice to act upon the information gleaned from a session of Astragalomancy, and many Empyreans have died in the attempts to make contact. But if, perhaps, you've already had a Geomancy reading done, and you suspect that family might be involved, Ardys is willing to perform Astragalomancy to delve a little deeper and shed a little more light into the darkness of the World in Turmoil.

Aeromancy - Meeting a Husk Prior to Collection
Price: 1000 Sol Credits
Aeromancy is a form of Divination which relies on the air and sky, including cloud formations, the type and direction of wind, comets, haloes about the sun or moon and other aerial formations. For this form of Divination, Ardys climbs the silver spiral staircase braced above the Dreaming Pool to stand out on the balcony set into the roof of the Dreaming Pool temple. He spends an hour meditating on the questions of the Empyrean, and when he descends the stairs again he has the answers to your Questions.
About to search for a Husk of your very own? Aeromancy can tell you which Gate you should take to search for the ideal Husk. You can even learn what your Husk will look like so that you can recognize it, and successfully pluck it to bring back to be fused with Essence and made into an Empyrean. The advantage of this knowledge will enable you to actually find the Husk in its Outside state, where you can gently lure it away from its dwelling, seduce it, or charm it into coming away with you. It is said that Husks that were taken in this manner, instead or merely plucked or stolen develope more stability for the weaknesses of their eventual alignment, and grow to be more well-rounded and better adjusted.

Mystery

Chiromancy - Future
Price: 500 Sol Credits
Chiromancy is a form of Divination that interprets the lines and markings of the palm. The major lines of the palm include the lines of life, the head, the heart, and destiny, and other minor lines include those of intuition and marriage. A palmist analyzes whether the lines are distinct or faint, straight or brached, solid or broken, and looks also for other symbolic indicators, like crosses or star formations. Other characteristics, such as the shape and health of fingernails/claws, the direction and growth of hair or fur on the hand, markings of the skin or fur, and even the distinct shape of the digits themselves all hold meanings.
For a general overview of what can arise in your future, Chiromancy gives a good idea of what's to come. While it offers the most options for you to change your destiny, since there are no questions asked, merely information given, there can be no complaints about the type of information received. Ardys generally reads one good thing, one unfortunate thing, and one ultimatum. It is up to the Empyrean to look inside themselves and see how they will approach these events or people when they encounter them in their life, and make their own choices as to what they will shape their future into.

Cartomancy - Fate
Price: 1000 Sol Credits
Cartomancy is perhaps the most famous method of Divination, and usually the most popular among apprentices. It uses a deck of cards with specific meanings attributed to each card. The cards are laid out in specific formations, and tuned face up one by one. The meanings are read individually, and then in correspondance with each other by their relative positions in the spread. Inverted cards have distinct meanings. Ardys uses the Tarot deck, which contains the Major and Minor Arcana. The Major Arcana are considered more powerful cards and signify importance or significant events.
Sometimes called the Random Prophecy, this type of prophecy is when you give me full reign to come up with a dramatic event for your Empyrean's future. These are usually of importance to Empyrean City. Your Empyrean will take part in the plots of upcoming Events or plot points. If you are interested in being part of these sorts of storylines, then have your fortune read with Cartomancy.

((Note that for Mystery Prophecies, I will take a lot more control than other types. These are designed for players who wish for a boost or a suggestion when they're not sure where to go next with their Empyrean. Anything you gain from Mystery readings are merely ideas that I think would be interesting to see happen to your specific Empyrean, but as always the choice to follow them through lies with you, and the actions of your Empyrean to reflect the situations given. Events from Mystery Prophecy can be avoided if your Empyrean takes certain steps to avoid them, or they can be fulfilled, if your Empyrean chooses to persue those ends. In a word, Mystery Prophecies are Subplots.))

Pyromancy - Meeting a Metatron
Price: 5000 Sol Credits
Pyromancy is a form of Divination involving fire. The practitioner seeks prophetic guidance while throwing leaves, twigs, or incense into the flames of a sacred fire. Changes in the colour of the flames represent different alignments, the shape and intensity also have specific meanings. Pops and crackles, the off-pouring smoke, scents of the subtances burning and the images that arise in the heart of the fire all have specific implications. Coals that pop from the flames are considered signs of terrible Omens.
Pyromancy readings can reveal if there is a chance you will get to personally meet one of the Metatrons, whether it be at the fusing of a Metatron's essence to a Husk, or during a war, or at some other impending doom. Those who have aspirations of becoming Metatrons need to converse with the Metatron of their Alignment for a long commune before they can ascend. In order to gain the Metatron's knowledge and approval, the empyrean must first have their soul skryed through Pyromancy.

Lecanomancy - Death or Severe Illness
Price: 5000 Sol Credits
Lecanomancy is a form of Divination in which a stone or similar object is thrown into the Dreaming Pool. The image of the object in the rippling water, and the sound it makes dropping to the bottom, as well the reflections clearing on the surface of the water are interpreted as having divinatory significance. For matters of illnesses the prior method is used, but for matters of death itself, an alternate method is used. Oil is dropped on the surface of the water and the shapes it takes represent the manner in which the subject will die.
Whether a close encounter has left an Empyrean poisoned, maimed or otherwise injured and you fear illness will ensue, or if terrible dreams have been plaguing your Empyrean and you fear they mean the worst, Lecanomancy can let you know where and how your path will end. It can also let you know when the last chance for salvation will arise. Resurrection is a difficult and tempermental art, and all aspects of it must be prefect in order for it to be successful. The window of opportunity is very slight, and must be acted on perfectly or the body can become a Mara or other monster. That single moment can be revealed by the Lecanomancy - if it exists at all.

Fortune Tellers are those that can perform the services offered in the Dreaming Pool for divining about noe's future or chances in a particular matter.

Prophets are those who can actually look into the ethereal for truth. This includes Astral Travel and Astral Projection, extensive Aura Reading, in-depth Skrying, and Clairvoyance. These are rare skills and difficult to hone, but some few Fortune Tellers ascend to this level of skill.
