Hmmm....... I MIGHT be able to help you out...... people are always saying I look emo, I usually wear mascara, black jeans and a T-shirt USUALLY from hot Topic....... my hairs also ALMOST always a mess, too...... Here, this will be easier to just post some of my pics........

I just do what i want but some people still call me an emo.
And people always say all emo slit there wristes but thats not true.
I just get so Grrrr with people like that sometimes.

You don't have to dress a certain way to be emo. Of course, stereotypical emo is short, black hair; jeans; t-shirst from rock bands/emo bands, or just any t-shirt that's cute and tight; lots of bracelets (they don't have to be jelly bracelets); and temporary tattoos (usually done with sharpies ^-^)

Emo is a cheapish take off of goth.
Their pretty much the same things.
In fact, i don't think there are goths anymore.
I think the emo scene took over goths.
BOYS:
Tight pants/Girls jeans.
Tight band/black shirts.
Converse/vans/skater shoes.
P I E R C I N G S [gauges].
Black[or technicolored] hair in their face.
GIRLS:
Tight pants/Jeans.
Tight band/black shirts.
Vans, converse, skate shoes, roxie, nollie
Bracelets
Piercings
Black[or technicolored] frizzy or emo fringe.
BOTH:
Tight clothes.
Loud screaming music.
Vans, Converse.
Piercings.
BLACK.
Emo black hair.
EDIT: Also robots, dinosaurs, skulls, and plaid.

im considered emo quite often and its because the clothes you where and a guy explain in his description of emo girls i am that my picture is in my sig
