I hate how a store says, "Guess what! We have a plus size section." Then you are so happy to know this and you go into this store you have never gone in before..for nothing would ever fit you and you think that the plus size will look just like the other half of the store. You walk in feel so happy when BAM You are looking at clothes your Grandmom would wear or your History teacher would wear and she was pregnant! I mean the plus side section looks so different from the other side. You have those ugly lacey tops that you catch your Mom wearing! It's enough to make you sick. Alright, I am 16 and I don't mean to upset anyone who likes this clothing..but I don't. I want to wear what my friends are wearing, but I can't. I'm left wearing shirts that my teacher would wear. I've had that happened..where I thought the shirt was ok enough for my age, but then I walk into my science class and my teacher is wearing the same thing! Another thing is they never have cute shirts with funny saying in my size..and if they are they are not what I want. I guess I'm looking at the wrong place. My Mom will only take me certain places, because I don't drive yet..but I went into Fashion Bug today and in the plus section the only t-shirts they had were stupid American Flag ones..while on the "normal" side they call it had Happy Bunny and all these cute funny sayings. Also I HATE the plus sections for I'm short..They make the clothes so big that this short little 16 year old wears clothes that go down to her knees! I hate shopping, and because of my weight..I never will.

There is a thread floating around here somewhere were fellow members posted stores that sold nice clothing for us chubbeh ladies...I'll have to look around for it.
I usually shop at Wal-mart or a place called Voluptuous...they have really nice clothing, although it's a tad pricey at times, but whenever I want to get a flattering/semi-sexy top, that's were I go.
Unfortunately the only Voluptuous store I know of is here in Ontario sweatdrop

I hate that too. I like to shop at torrid or torrid online. But they make clothes for short, plus sized people. And I am tall gonk But you'd be perfect. Check it out Torrid. <333

You know what depresses me? When stores like Torrid, with awesome clothing, make everything for big breasted women. I have small breasts, and I find clothes that look like they'd fit, and BAMF. I don't have big enough boobies. I'm falling out of this really cute top. I can't win with these people!

Perhaps a little tip. I run into the same problem all the time. Here in the Netherlands that are very few plus sized stores and what they carry generally belongs in the old lady category. So I generally take the most generic uni-colored thing I can find and then I become a little creative. Every now and then with needle and thread (not often, cause I suck at that), but usually with accessories. The right necklace, scarf, wristband, you name it, can do a whole world of wonders for your otherwise boring and drab clothing.

It helps if you're creative/have the patience for sewing on accessories/are able to use a needle and thread and not continously poke your hand with a needle sweatdrop

On that crafty note, if you like t shirts with cute pictures or slogans on them why not give stencilling a go if you can find plain t-shirts that you like? Its super easy, lots of fun and you'll have that nice fluffly feeling of pride inside everytime you wear one of your creations! And it means that even though you're going to be wearing something like your friends you'll still be totally original with your one-off pieces. If anyone is interested but not sure how to get started, have a look here for lots of useful stencilling info. biggrin

If you get the t-shirts they dont have any sized boobies. They're just shirts. I have a problem with the pants there. My waist doesnt match my legs and it sucks.

I love shopping but that's because I know of several different stores in my area as well as online. There is a thread created by me that has several different links to stores that have plkus sized items that are cute smile http://www.gaiaonline.com/guilds/viewtopic.php?t=510432Here's the link for that thread.

I used to run into the same problem, and still do every once in a while. but over the last couple years, i've developed my own sense of style. Im not saying that you shouldnt want to dress like your friends, but finding what suits you best should gome before trying to fit in.
heres some solutions i've used to get around the clothing problems.
Skirts? i got a pair of fitted ankle jeans,(the kind no teenaged girl wants to be caught in) i opened the inseams and sewed in a panel of totally funkadelick,(Thats right, Funkadelick) fabric that i got at walmart for like..two dollars a yard.
Pants? i learned to sew. i made my own patter for enormous widelegged pants that are comfortable and everyone loves to see me in. i also pick really outrageous fabric for these too..kinda distracts people from the fact that my bum is so big.
Shirts?in cool or cold weather, i spring for extended size guy's button down shirts, and regular, Just My Size tank tops underneith. or in the summer, i just browse the Wal Mart men's department for clever, wacky t-shirts. ( my favorite shirt is bright yellow and says "Utah...but im taller") biggrin

I hate the store Fashion Bug. I'm pulled in there all the time, for my Mom shops there. She thinks it fun while I'm on one side of the store she can be on the other side. I don't like what they have at Fashion Bug and I see things my teacher wear at the stores. I don't own a skirt. I've never wore one and I have never owned a dress. I did when I was little, but that's different. I'm scared of showing off my legs..and worse of all..I'm stuck with fat legs with psoriases on the knees..Lets just make my life more a living hell with the skin thing.. stare
