What do you do when you're tempted? As we know, Jesus was tempted in the desert after walking through it for 40 days. If He was tempted, we'll be tempted also! Here are the main 3 temptations the devil tries to get us to buy into.
A physical need. (this could even include the need for survival: in Rev. it describes the tribulation, and Jesus said if you lose your life, you will find it, etc. (don't commit suicide! ninja )) "Man does not live on bread alone, but on the Word of God." was His reply.
Possessions. "worship me, and I will give you all the stuff in the world! Everything you've ever dreamed of!" This one's hard, because he knows what stuff we're interested in. Jesus replied "Do not test the Lord your God." He refused to worship him.
Authority. "Jump off this cliff here, and command your angels concerning you to lift you up." Now, this is where it's confusing. If he's tempting you to do what he wants, we already have the authority (Jesus IS the authority!) But, why would he tempt us to get authority if we already have it? In order to gain MORE authority?
I guess I just answered my own question! When it comes to temptation, he wants us to want MORE! It's never enough! And the worst part is, it seems right because the lie is, just a LITTLE more. Just a LITTLE.
Comments, questions, etc.

Actually, I would say it's Satan that places temptation before us, but God gives us the strength not to give in to those temptations. That's why i pray when im tempted, even over the smallest things such as cussin. And with every temptation that we overcome, we gain more strenght. All the strength God gives us to overcome these temptations build up until He makes our enemies like our "footstools." Footstools being something to rest our feet on since after we gain so much strength, the obstacles we face are like nothing. Going upon these lines, God does not want us to suffer just so we can get a glimpse of how powerful He is. He wants us to be happy, but He wants us to love Him, rely on Him, and gain strenght from Him. And how can we gain strenght if we dont excercise our faith?

To be honest, the last temptation gave in to led me to doubt. I am still in a very deep hole and I need lots of aid and guidance and prayer. It is harder to come back to your full faith each time.
But, otherwise I pray because prayer is the connection line to God wink just like you said, He knows what we go through.

stone_angel4 To be honest, the last temptation gave in to led me to doubt. I am still in a very deep hole and I need lots of aid and guidance and prayer. It is harder to come back to your full faith each time.
But, otherwise I pray because prayer is the connection line to God wink just like you said, He knows what we go through. Amen, sister! Honesty is the first step to coming back to God! Worldly sorrow brings death, but God's sorrow leads to repentance. The main point is you have to take your mind off of whatever it is that causes you to doubt and onto someONE who causes you to believe. Leave the old, embrace the new. Move on. One other important thing to remember: Patience. Just lately, I frequently asked God what He wants me to do. Almost every time, it's the same answer: WAIT. Let patience work her perfect work in you. I also find it helps to visualize something good you did in the past, whcih brings hope, thus combining faith+hope, thus = love! Yes, remember the good days. And, finally, be persistent! Cry out to the Lord your God and He WILL answer you (although His answer might not be what you expect, which could actually be a good thing!) Any quesions, feel free to pm me!

I have been tempted ot do black magick as well. But my faith in the Goddess and my faith in myself as a good being kept me from experiementing. I prayed to the Goddess to help me thorugh my time of temptaiton. I have since gained a sense of thinking things out before I do them, including my messages. But, I found that prayer to Her was a good thing and it kept me strong, gave me more patience to think things through.
Though some temptaions of life are hard. You can only get through them with a strong faith in whatever you believe in. Be it God of the Christians, or the Goddess of the pagans. A higher power is up there, waiting to be called upon so it can serve us by helpin gus stay on the path of good and right, and not fall into a chasm of the bad sorts of temptaions. Do yourbest ot stay steadfast in your faith and it will see you through. Amazing htings can happen to those with strong faith.

Temptation... I guess I just... well I don't know, I don't know how it works. I just forbid myself, sometimes trick myself, and it... works.
Like when my best friend got this new boyfriend, and he was hot. (I mean.. the hottest. And great personality too.) But I knew I could never do anything about it. So I just... told myself think of him as if he were my brother. Just told myself it was impossible to feel anything for him. And that's how it went. We became great friends, they broke up, and we were still just totally platonic friends.
So I guess my advice is... just try to trick yourself. ^^; Give yourself a really solid reason why it's impossible to give in to that particular temptation. And that will hold it off, and soon the temptation will subside.

Another point I'd like to add is the importance of being connected to the Body of Christ, to keep yourself accountable, and it's also good to have a connection with a pastor that you can trust. Such things are often neglected in the church, which is very unfortunate. Man was not made to be alone. 3nodding

Here is what I do during temptation. This verse always encourages me to face temptations. Quote: James 1:12: "Blessed is the man that endureth temptation: for when he is tried, he shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord hath promised to them that love him." Here is from a Bible Study that I did: Quote: Endure temptations, resist the devil and he will flee for you. Through the Love of God, that is how you should look at your temptations. Not, "Oh no, here we go again." Now wait a minute, don't you know who the Lord Jesus is? Don't you know the Great Power that He has? Don't you know the authority that is in His name? Through the Love of God, endure temptation, not yielding to them; just like our Lord Jesus Christ did. Now lets go on from there. "Let no man say that when he is tempted, I am tempted of God. For God cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempted He any man. But every man is tempted when he is drawn away from his own lust and entice. Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin. And sin when it is finished, bringeth forth death." Do not air. But first of all that I want to point out: Temptation is not sin. Everyone is tempted, even Jesus was when He was in the desert for 40 days and nights. But Jesus did not say "Resist temptations" but to "Resist the Devil;" because we are tempted when we are drawn away from our own lusts and enticed.
