 :: About Adrian ::Adrian is a child as emo they come, shunning most contact with other sentient lifeforms on the grounds that "none of them understand me" and preferring to spend time by himself, writing emo poetry and making his mother regret ever existing. He was born in the Solace Scents shop, much to the chargin of Amryx because he ended up breaking the burner that she was working to pay off.
No one is sure why Adrian is so foul-tempered, though it might have something to do with the fact that Amryx would do nothing but gripe and moan about the state of her life when he was still a wee puddle of oil in a burner, right within earshot.
As Adrian grew to his teenage stage, however, he seemed to grow more of a mean streak than anything else. As most teenagers become emo so that they may rebel against society, Adrian takes it to the next level by actively spreading misery by being a selfish, immature brat. In truth, he simply does not consider the feelings of others, and so, his actions reflect how little he cares about everyone around him. When he was a child, it was a simple-minded grouchiness, but now as a teenager, Adrian actually finds joy in making other people feel small.
Then again, most teenagers do, so maybe this isn't unusual behavior at all.
:: Currently ::
Adrian has joined the ranks of teenaged Scents, but since he's been acting more horrible than usual, Amryx has been refusing to buy him clothing that is appropriate for his age and gender. As a result, he acts like an even bigger douche and Amryx is only further disinclined to do anything that would benefit them. A rather big rift has formed between them, it seems.

 :: About Amryx ::Amryx was an ordinary bank clerk on Gaia who happened to get involved in a very messy incident concerning murder. What happened was something along the lines of 'wrong place, wrong time', but needless to say, she was going to be in very big trouble once the 'mod squad' had caught her. Thankfully, a red haired girl and her blonde haired sister were able to take Amryx to another world, although she was dropped off with no way out.
Not that Amryx cared. Anything was better than jail. She broke a burner at Olivia's shop and since Olivia didn't accept Gaian gold, Amryx was forced to work at the shop until she paid off the burner. Which she almost did, but then Adrian was born and pretty much doomed to work to support herself and Adrian.
Amryx seems like she does not care much for Adrian, but she actually does. However, she is frustrated because he doesn't seem to return the favor and continues to torment her even though she provides for him.
She was a member of a hippie coven that traveled around Midori for awhile, so she's a little more knowledgeable about the geography of the land. However, she does not like to talk about those times and considers them "dark times".
:: Currently ::
Amryx has adjusted to life in Midori, and except for the fact that she grows to resent Adrian more as the days pass by, she is actually doing rather well for herself after getting over her temporary insanity.
She has made a new friend, named Evie.

Amryx gets hired into the Solace Scents Team after breaking a burner in her frantic search for a bathroom.
January 14th, 2007
After working diligently for about a week or two, Amryx finally pays off the price of her burner! As a reward, Olivia also gives her a "special" scent. Amryx doesn't think much of it... until she lights it...
February 24th, 2007
While Amryx is out running errands, it looks like her Scent was born! However, poor Amryx has no idea that the Scent is supposed to be under her care and is still trying to find out if anyone has lost an emo kid with white and black hair.

It seems that Amryx and Olivia aren't the only ones with oil children - Amryx meets three other people who were "lucky" enough to have magical oil that resulted in a child. Adrian meets with Amahté and Vanyel and decides he doesn't like any of them, although he didn't need to meet them to decide that.
April 7th, 2007
Adrian catches May stealing some oil from the shop. Sensing opportunity, he conned her into buying him and a milkshake and was about to go home with her before Amryx showed up and thought her child was being kidnapped. After some misunderstandings were resolved, Adrian hints at May that her scoop about the oil children was correct as thanks for the milkshake (and because he figures it's May's fault if she gets stuck with a kid) and May buys a burner from a reluctant Amryx.
Amryx decides not to leave Adrian alone in the shop anymore.
April 8th, 2007
Amryx goes out to have a nice dinner out, but she makes the mistake of bringing Adrian along. She further makes the mistake of introducing Adrian to the manager, Nyoko, who makes the mistake of touching Adrian's hair. A tantrum is thrown and Amryx leaves before she gets questioned for child abuse yet again.
Amryx decides not to take Adrian out in public with her anymore.
Since she also decided not to leave Adrian alone, she foresaw the death of her social life, not like it was alive much to begin with.
May-August, 2007
Shortly after the Masquerade that was held in April, Amryx went insane and joined a hippie coven. Adrian found a ditch to live in. Neither of them really want to talk about this period in their life. They both finally return in the shop around August 15th.
August 17th, 2007
Adrian and Ment have an epic battle. Ment wins because Amryx has no sympathy for her emo warrior. Adrian hates life.
August 18th, 2007
The following day, Adrian goes out searching for his ditch, finding the shop to be unsuitable for his tastes. He runs into Tango, whom he almost brushes off when he realizes that Tango is a scent child and is actually the same scent as the one May stole months ago. Putting two and two together, Adrian cons Tango into buying him a drink the same way he conned May's mother, though unlike May, Tango decides to punch Adrian for being a t**t.
A fight ensures, the two escape from the authorities, and there is an unspoken agreement never to speak about it again.
September 7th, 2007
Adrian decides that he's done looking for the ditch, and will make his own. However, digging a hole into the ground is harder than he thought. Another Scent named Anastasia finds him and offers to help, but their different opinions on the role of insects in the world is too great for them to work together, and Adrian ends up with a spider in his hair.
Adrian decides to make a shitlist some time in the near future.
September 25th, 2007
Tango gets the idea of tormenting May with another Scent, and so, he attempts to enlist Adrian to join him, but Adrian ends up growing a conscience down the line. After some failed attempts to get rid of it, Adrian finally rids himself of the alien spirit via oil crashing down on his head. Of course, since Adrian is in the company of Tango, he finds some way to start a fight and the boys are only stopped by a livid Amryx, who makes Adrian pay for the damages.
Of course, since Adrian is still in her care, that really means Amryx pays for everything. She hates life.
Sometime before May 2008
Adrian grows into a Teen! And so, all hell breaks loose.
May 2nd, 2008
While out shopping, Adrian runs into his nemesis once more: Anastasia. Although it seems like he will finally get his revenge, Anastasia's owner happens to be in the area when the almost-fight occurs and she gets Adrian down with some pepper spray. Anastasia's owner, Evie, and Amryx become friends and Adrian decides that Evie goes on his shitlist too.

Upon finding out that someone died awhile ago, Amryx asks Adrian to get some information out of Ment. What she was thinking, no one will ever know, but Adrian complied only because he was curious himself. That didn't go over very well, and the two ended up getting into yet another fight, in which Adrian discovered that he had the curious ability to punch somebody really, really hard. Not the most remarkable of all abilities, but this is Adrian we're talking about here.

After getting kicked out of the shop for moping again, Adrian decided it was time to go and get some revenge on hippies. He recruited a strange Scent, Maira, to help him by tricking her into thinking that throwing rocks at stores was a game. Unfortunately, he didn't hold Maira's favor for long and in the end, the Scent ratted him out to the cops. In an epic "Not as Planned" moment, Adrian found himself on the pointy end of a rapier and in the hands of the Midori Militia. His trial is currently pending.

Amryx - Adrian doesn't love her, but doesn't hate her despite the various remarks he makes on her weight. Although he doesn't see why she does it, Amryx does provide Adrian with food and shelter and clothes and other things like that, so he can't torment her too much. Until he finds his ditch, anyway.
Olivia - Adrian doesn't like her either. Thankfully, she's always busy in her shop and Adrian doesn't have to see her much. Now, Ment, that's another story...
May - Adrian likes her in the fact that he likes endlessly tormenting her. Oh, there is nothing more fun than that. Unfortunately, she doesn't venture near where he is often, though now that he knows where she is, he'd be more than happy to make a few surprise visits.
Nyoko - Adrian hates her. She touched his hair.
Evie - Surprise, surprise: Adrian hates her too! Although, perhaps his reason would be slightly more justified than most since Evie greeted him with a can of pepperspray to the face. But even then, since he was harassing Anastasia, he probably deserved it anyway.
Scents
Ment - Adrian hates him too. Ment is too colorful and too loud and too pepperminty and he is forever a thorn in Adrian's side. Ment is partly the reason why Adrian doesn't stay in the shop very long during the day.
Vanyel - Adrian spoke to her once, a very long time ago. He doesn't know she has grown, but he wouldn't care. He thinks she's too orange-y.
Amahté - Adrian asked him why he was wearing a diaper. Needless to say, they don't like each other either despite only speaking to each other for about 5 minutes.
Tango - Tango is about the closest thing Adrian will ever have to a friend, if by friend you mean 'person who can tolerate him for more than five minutes', but Adrian actually doesn't want to see Tango around too often. Reason being that they got into a fight, so Tango has some sort of blackmail on Adrian and he'd be damned if he let Tango get the better of him. But other than that, Adrian finds Tango tolerable as well. Sometimes. Maybe.
Anastasia - She's on Adrian's shitlist. Not only did she ruin his hair, she threw a spider in it.
Maira - There was an almost friendship between the two, in that Adrian was going to exact his revenge on the hippies and Maira was going to take the blame for it. But then he called her "Crazy" one too many times and needless to say, she ruined everything.
Adrian hates her too.

Lighting Prompt (Required to reach Lit Scent stage) You have just purchased an oil burner and a specific scented oil from the Solace Scents shop and you can't wait to light it! Now that you're home, it's time to find the perfect place to light that scent! However, strange things seem to happen when you do... particulary with the smoke...

Amryx was, needless to say, very happy that she had found a job and a place to live. And a cracked burner and a complimentary scent, a "gift" from Olivia for joining the Solace Scents employment team.
But at the same time, she was depressed because she shouldn't have had to find a new place to live and a new place to work in the first place. In fact, she shouldn't even have had to find a whole new world to hide in.
And it was all because she had to tell this kook living in an underground house with a cardboard box for a door that because the mortgage hadn't been paid in six months, she had no choice but to have the Bank of Gambino repossess the house! And then that entire mess started and she ended up being a murder suspect!
If it weren't for the redhaired girl with weird wings, she would have been stuck in a cell instead of underneath the counter of the shop. Olivia had offered nicer accomondations but Amryx liked the counter. She spent much of her life behind one.
Well, breaking the burner did turn out in good favor. Perhaps this was a nice turn of events for her. Perhaps this was a sign for good things to come. Maybe she could finally stop hiding her identity. The redhaired girl would probably come back to tell her the coast was clear soon. Placing the burner on a coaster that was set on the counter, Amryx watched as the oil dripped through the cracks. It almost looked like it was crying.
"Well, I guess I could light it. It's not like I would smell it anyway," Amryx mumbled to herself. After stumbling around the dark trying not to break anything else, she found a match and struck it, gingerly lighting the candle underneath the cracked burner.
Almost immediately, Amryx could just smell that there was something wrong. The scent - Black Currant, was it? - started to overpower the shop, which was odd because it was an aromatherapy shop. There were plenty of scents in the air, but soon they all became one. The scent of the candle before her.
And the smoke was starting to spell something in the air. Amryx squinted, trying to make out the words.
"I... will... cut you?"
Disturbed and deciding this was caused by the unfortunate turn of events she had endured, Amryx decided it was time to get some sleep.
Meanwhile, the burner's smoke was displaying a face that was unmistakably the face of... emo.

Olivia Solace [For Those Who Want To RP Finding The Child Only]Having remembered something you needed to do, you ran out of your home quickly, forgetting all about the burning oils inside. You return content, having completed your task only to find a small chidl wandering the halls of your home, leaving oily foot steps behind, leading to a cracked burner, and split candle wax. Describe your reaction, and how you deal with the oil tracking child.
Such a chance arose today. Olivia had some exotic scents that needed pick-up for a special event she was holding in her shop, and Amryx had the feeling these scents were somehow related to Ment, the peppermint child who ran around the shop and made her feel generally uncomfortable. She had thought he was just Olivia's brother, or son, or something, but she started to realize that maybe his birth wasn't exactly... natural.
Whatever it was, it didn't really concern Amryx, and she went about her daily business, stalling as much as possible so she could remember what fresh air smelled like. Of course, she had to return to the shop eventually, but she timed her return to the shops's closing time. Olivia didn't seem to mind, but Amryx suddenly felt her paycheck getting knocked down a few gold pieces (or whatever these Midorans used for money - she never really found out the name). So she agreed to stay behind for some overtime.
She had to anyway. Some brat had knocked over her own burner and there were Black Currant scented footprints all over. Damn kids. It must have been Ment or something.
"Damn kids. I liked that burner too," Amryx grumbled, scrubbing away some of the excess oil. That was when she heard it. That faint sound... crying?
"Hello?" Amryx called out. Was it a kid? Maybe the kid who knocked over the burner. Well, at least he felt bad, and he should feel bad! She tried to find the source of the crying, but whoever it was hid him or herself really well. Which only aggravated Amryx even further.
"Damnit, come out already and say you're sorry and go home. Shop's closed!" She snarled, to which the crying child finally responded.
"... I knew it. You don't love me. No one loves me. I'm all alone. It figures," accompanied by a dramatic sniff. Amryx blinked.
"... What?"
The child moved forward from the shadows, a small boy who was draped in clothes that were way too baggy for him and a small tuft of white bangs that contrasted with his black hair. He looked up at Amryx with sorrowful gray eyes, and she could see that he was still crying.
"Er? What? Kid, are you OK? I didn't mean to yell at you like that..."
"No, you're not sorry. You continue to cut me with your mean words like those razors that are for sale for 1.28 at the store down the street," The child babbled on dramatically, adding another sniff.
"... WHAT?"
"I'd know. I checked." The child sniffed again.
"... NO, REALLY, WHAT? WHERE DID YOU COME FROM?!"
The child pointed to the remains of the broken burner that were lying on the counter, but Amryx failed to put the pieces together, figuratively speaking.
"... WHAT?!"
"I knew it. No one understands me," He sniffled once more and sat down on the floor next to a bewildered Amryx, scratching out an emo poem on a piece of paper and a pen he liberated from the front desk.
