In the time following the already-infamous 2006 Zurg Invasion, there was a brief lull in activity; as Zurg, Gaians, and cows staggered out into what seemed like a new day, it seemed as though the populace could relax. With this in mind, many Agents took a temporary leave, seeking a bit of rest and relaxation to recuperate from the chaos of the recent events.
Of course, things rarely remain peaceful in Gaia, and even as the Zurg remained a prominant faction in the revised world, smaller - yet no less strange - events were taking place at the edges of the GIB's consciousness. Of course, minor though they might be, there was no telling which might turn out to be of monumental importance or just a false alarm; as well, there was no excuse for ignoring even apparently-petty events. After all, the GIB were sworn to eternal vigilance, were they not?
With the recent events, and taking Gaia's nature into account, it perhaps wasn't unexpected that the Gaians In Black expanded their scope to include all manner of 'paranormal' events. As well, given the GIB's turbulent recent history - and a number of Agents who, unfortunately, proved unworthy of the title - it was expected that when reports of 'rogue-like activity' by various Agents did surface, action was taken immediately.
No-one was more surprised than the Agents who stood accused.

It was another gorgeous day in Hawaii-- The islands depended on days like this, where the sun shone overhead and the waves reflected the blue skies above. It was a postcard-worthy day, and in fact several photographers with cameras were taking shots destined for the souvenir-rack, as tourists and locals went about their day.
High above them all, a lone figure stood on a ridge of Diamond Head, in a section of the extinct volcanic crater that was off-limits to even the most adept hikers. Hidden among the tough brush and red lava-rock, he looked down across the land and the sea with an unfocused gaze.
He wasn't quite sure why he kept coming back here; the way he'd signed on left no option for his returning to the life he'd lived. Nothing should have brought him back, but it was still the place he'd lived - and eventually, stopped living - as a child, and it still gave him a sense of calm to survey it all before him. Gaia knows that after the recent events, he needed it.
Of course, before long, the calm was shattered, this time by the high-pitched beep of the communicator strapped to his wrist. Looking like a high-tech watch, its alarm frequency was specifically tuned for him alone; as he raised it to eye-level, he saw that it was a text from GIB Headquarters, labeled as a top-priority communication. What it said, however, made his eyes widen behind his dark lenses.Agent Flashfire is ordered to report to GIB HQ at once, on charges of acting contrary to the proscribed behaviour of a GIB Agent. All official activities are thus halted until this missive is met.

G muttered to herself. A new e-mail in her inbox - from an unwanted sender.
"Agent G: Report to Psychological Services."
She frowned. "I keep telling them, I'm fine."

MD was sitting in her office at her desk, humming a slight tune to herself. It was all she could do to keep her mind off of days like this. She despised having to filter agents out because of supposed inappropriate activity, but what must be done is done. She sighed and took another sip of tea out of her blue mug, waiting until she was needed to send out another message or for a meeting.
"I just hate doing things like this. I'm glad I'm not completely in charge, though."

G rapped on Agent MD's door.
"Hello? You wanted to see me?"

"Oh, hey G. They just want me to do another check-up on you. I don't know how many times I'm going to have to do this, but they never seem to be happy with my findings.
So, you know the drill," she said as she pointed to the back room where all the usualy check-ups where held.
It was a very interesting room because depending on what was being done, the room changed to fit it.

"I don't know what the big deal is," she said, entering the room.
She waited for a moment to see what the room would make itself out to be.

"Don't ask me, but you have to remember, I have superiors too. They're the ones that always want you checked out.
It's a basic test today. Inkblots and I need to take a blood sample. It should be quite short."
MD walked over to her chair and sat down, getting all of her papers in order before the tests were performed.

G went to the chair opposite her, unbuttoning her shirt sleeve as she went.
"I'm glad it'll be short this time. I wasn't a fan of two hundred questions," she replied.
G rolled up her newly-freed sleeve, and sat down in the examination chair. Though it was awkwardly tall, it was comfortable. And it reclined.
Well. Only if MD wanted it to.

"Go ahead and lie back, comfort is always important in a job like this."
MD pulled out her inkblots and ordered them. She slowly started showing them to G.
"Can you tell me what this one looks like to you?"
This lasted for about ten minutes with varied responses.

G wasn't ever a fan of inkblots. They were tedious. Subjective. Creepy, even.
Especially the last one.

"Well, this is the last one. What do you see?"
MD was holding the image with her left hand, while she readied her right hand with a pen so that she could write G's response. She never liked inkblots herself and as a child she wondered why people even bothered with them. Oh, people's subconscious, always making things more difficult.

"Um."
G stared at it.
Something... was making her heart race.
"Um."
She felt a chill go down her spine.
Somewhere in the middle, it was reaching out... like those hands she saw...
"Uh..."
She cleared her throat.
"A moth," she said, resolutely.

MD gained a worried expression. G never got like that with tests like these. Something was definately wrong.
"Are you alright? You seemed a little lost there."

"I'm fine," rasped G.
She cleared her throat.
"I'm fine," she repeated, strongly.
As long as she said that to herself, it would be the truth.
