I'm driving home last night after my game, and I'm just glancing around like normal, and up at Best Buy I see a crap ton of people in tents outside the place. Now, I knew what they were there for, but I couldn't help but giggle slightly at them.
Did anyone else have encounters with any of these people? And, were any of you actually camping out for a chance to get a PS3?

I think it's mostly pointless...The first year out there aren't too many games out for any given new system anyhow, not enough to warrent all the trouble going through camping for a week to get your hands on the system before anyone else. Sorry, you still have to wait just as long to enjoy the full benefits of the machine as many of us do, getting your hands on the crap sports game they threw together does not make you special. The first systems out of the box are usually more prone to system malfunctions as well...Better to wait a bit and let the dust settle.

Campers are ******** idiots. So far, there has been multiple shootings, eggings, rape and robbery within day and a half. I'm sorry, it's not worth the wait.

i think it was pretty pathetic i might have camped out if there wasn't as much people but for a game system that cost almost 600 dollars it wasn't worthhaving the chance to be killed for.

I wanted to go just to watch people. Its the stupidity of people at one of its finest moments. And these are all gamers, people who are always stereotyped to be lazy, outof shape, geeks. Yet you see them rush stores and fight like any angry mob. Gamers gone wild!
Although, while they were stupid, I do feel a little sorry for people get hurt. I saw a guy dislocate his jaw when someone shoved him into a light pole in a rush for the first ten slots. But you'd think they'd get smart. "Lemme see, this store is only getting 12 PS3s and there's like 30 people. Might as well go home." But no one thinks that apparently. It isn't worth the bizare run of crimes sprees for a PS3. Hell, it probably isn't worth the money they paid for it. I'll stick to the Wii.

personally, thati s too much effort for me too freakin cold. though i will be getting a PS3 when people stoppcamping since I have one on order. ^_^

But..
At the WalMart here, which closes at 11 PM, they are letting the people in the porch/lobby thing and locking them in there until 7 AM, and they give them numbers. People with numbers can stay... Erm, well they give the numbers first. -is all mixed up-
I realize its stupid, but I wouldn't do it if we couldn't be inside. xd

If it's really that much of a hassle to get your hands on one, the answer is simple, providing it's an option: Pre-order. They'll usually make sure all the pre-orders get out, and no camping out on a city street with all the problems that entails.
If they're so keen to get a PS3, isn't this the smart option?
Now I'll probably get told many times over that pre-order isn't available. In which case: Screw you, Sony!

I read about that. O_o Quite frankly I think it's a bit ridiculous. I want a PS3 as much as the next person, but I'm not going to sit in the freezing cold for one.. besides, I don't even have the money one. :/ I'll wait until the price goes down and Christmas rolls round.

And this is what the mayhem got them at the Rush to own0rz the PS3....This makes me shake my head at humanity, honestly. Who the hell does things like trample other people for a game console? But then, of course, there's the money involved, like last time a PS was released, and their Wonderful thoughts about understocking America.
I don't think Wii will be nearly as bad, thank God.

I just think that's stupid. I don't even think the PS3 is worth it. Like someone else all ready stated the first ones released are usually a bit buggy. I honestly don't get people at times. I guess it's just a status thing for some people. They get to brag that they are some of the first people to have one.

I am one to say that camping in line for days for a 600 dollar console and 80 dollar games is just retarted. I mean, the price is ridiculous as it is but when people freak out and buy them all up Sony will just keep the price up. Someone was shot over a PS3. That just goes to show how unstable some of these people can be...

teh ps3 is waaay too expensive.... some (not all) of those campers just wanted to be there so their sorry a** could be on tv when they show the 'outrageous lines' outside their local best buy...

You guys do know why most people are doing the camping right?? It's so they can get a PS3 then sell it over ebay for thousands of dollars. Think I'm kidding?? Go check eBay right now.....completely ridiculous. sad
I'm a huge Sony fan but come on, seriously. Lower the damn price...yes I realize it's pratically a computer and that there was ALOT of work put in to the system but haven't they seen what's been happening?? Are they proud of the shootings and robberies being caused?? I dare say no they are not but Sony has certainly not gone public with anything related to these catastrophies. Makes you wonder.... sad
