Well, we seem to have gotten a ton of new people (way more than we mathematically should have) so I'm closing recruitment again, for now. Okay, I think the time has come to let in a few fresh faces.
I'm going to be posting this application form on the homepage of the guild: 1. Preferred Agent Name (if your name is already taken, we will select one for you if you are accepted):
2. What is the purpose of the GIB, in your eyes?
3. What made you decide to join the GiB?
4. Will you be able to contribute time to the guild and behave in a manner representative of what the GiB stands for?
5. Please provide a paragraph explaining what you can contribute to the GiB.
Now, whether you let them in will be mostly left up to the judgment of the crew member who reads the application. However, here are some guidlines:
Things to look for in question 2: The purpose of GIB is to protect Gaia. The purpose of GIB is to investigate the plot/the aliens. Etc.
BAD ANSWERS TO NUMBER TWO: To kill the aliens! To take over Gaia! Etc, etc. Nothing too weird or violent.
Things to look for in question 3: I want to protect Gaia. I want to investigate the aliens. Etc, etc. Real reasons. BAD REASONS: lol ther cool. I wunt to kill aliens! I saw them in the announcements. You've got a UFO in your guild! Etc. I'm sure you can use proper judgement.
Four is a yes/no answer. Pretty clear there. >.<
As for five... Again, I'm trusting you to use your own judgement. To be honest, the main purpose of having them write a paragraph is 1. To see if they have the patience to write more than one word answers and 2. See if they're literate. This is rather important to me. Grammar and spelling don't have to be perfect, of course. But it has to look like they care. Chatspeaking agents = Bad.
And last of all, I want you to do a background check on everyone that you review. That mean search their past posts to see where their loyalties really lie. If it is obvious that they are just joining to spy on us, boot 'em. If they seem to be what we're looking for, excellent. If it's questionable... you may want to contact them personally. And if they have little to no posts, they are probably a mule. If their application looks good otherwise, ask them for their main. If it was looking kinda iffy anyway, I wouldn't bother.
Okay, I'll post the application probably... tomorrow (November 15) afternoon or evening.
For now, limit yourself to letting in 5 people. We'll see how that works out, and then decide if we want to let in more.
Post here when you reach your five-agent limit, or if you have any questions or suggestions.
Also, please post the names of the agents you let in.

Agent Chibi here~! I have a question, may I ask why aren't there any questions asking about roleplaying? Isn't that what we are, info gatherers and roleplayers?

.M.e.r.o.k.o. Agent Chibi here~! I have a question, may I ask why aren't there any questions asking about roleplaying? Isn't that what we are, info gatherers and roleplayers? Ah, yes. About that. I meant to mention it... What with the recent upswing in plot, I want this group of members to be plot-oriented, rather than RP oriented. Originally, I was even going to let in people who want to RP hostile aliens, as sort of unnofficial members, but I just don't think it's a good idea with things being as dicey as they are. When we let in the next group of people, after some of the excitement has died down, I'll add back in the questions about RP.

If the people hanging out in our thread are any indication, we'll probably get some rp'ers along with plot-mongers. smile

I've voted Yes, mostly because we've got a lot of interest begin generated in the Mothership thread again and starting to pick up pretenders. I don't know about you, but I find people pretending to be part of the guild is kind of annoying and I don't feel that it's ok for me to yell at them about it if they've got the right attitude. I feel that if we let a few people it, we'll get fewer fakes. The, er, "natives" are restless as they say.
That said, I'm in a similar boat to The Iron Magus and I do need to start concentrating on my studies as well. I won't be disappearing, but I will be trying to be less active so I'll be slow on accepting people.
I look forward to hearing what others have to say.

I'm just going to say yes, mainly because of the same reasons Agent Kit said. Perhaps with a few more people, we can figure out things faster than before, too.
But if we want to slow down recruitment, each crew member could only accept one person instead of five. That way we'd only pick who we think is best without going overboard.

Though everyone brings up good points, my personal feeling is that we seem to be large enough now... but now that you mention slower recruitment, it might not be such a bad idea. Again, for the reasons above, new faces would be great. I just don't think the G.I.B. is ready for a huge surge of new people.

I don't know. From what I have been seeing, there are some people who want to join that would be great. Though I see a lot of people saying they want to join just during the event so they can be part of something and since we seem to have the limelight. Being in announcements and stuff.

This is going to be a really tough decision. There are so many people who keep asking when we're going to re-open recruitment and all we can say is that we're discussing it.
I think we need to figure out what we're doing sooner rather than later.

Okay, we've got a tie. Great.
C'mon, we just need one more person to vote.

Um I will change my vote to yes?
There have been some people hanging around the thread a lot that I think deserve to be let in. Though there has been a lot of fame wanters in there too. Maybe we should say if you are in the thread and helpful for so many days then you can be let in?

What should we do about this guy who PMed my his application?
He wasn't able to send it through the join request link because he sent it in before he read the "no new agents" and was declined. Now he isn't able to send it in for two weeks.
I was hoping to hear feedback from other crew members on what should happen in this situation.
