Secret Santa event is nearly done. 'Tis awaiting the drawing of the lucky winner! twisted

The event is done! Congrats to Fallen_Kitsune_Thief, the fellow marsupial quester, who has made it to the Island! whee

Thank you to everyone who bought me a bottle. heart heart

Updates:
Feb. 12, 2K7: Going to do a bit of work soon. I realize I should probably add a bit more info, such as how Autumn gets to the Island. Gotta figure out something that makes sense.
January 4, 2K7: First update of the new year! Anyhow, the majority of the votes has more often been to just stick with an anthro-roo serum, so I think that's just what I'll do. Character revisions & the like will be done soon, once I stop procrastinating. xd
December 23: Eulie drew me art! whee Check the Arts post to check it out! whee
December 3, 2K6: Got the history posted, after lots of work & tweaking. Might tweak it here & there. Don't feel like rereading it yet again at the present moment. xd
Nov. 30, 2K6: Added more kangaroo information. (i.e: diet, behavior, habitat, etc.) Added poll to help decide between non-morphic serum (65) or regular anthro serum (54).
Nov. 28, 2K6: Adjusted Autumn's personality a bit. I didn't want her to seem like a teenager with depression & other mental issues. I want Autumn to be a relatively normal person, not some depressed person who's had it hard her life.

Character Info:

.:Character Information:.
Name: Autumn Chandler
Nicknames: Chandler, Fall
Age: 19
Birthdate: September 13, 1987
Birthplace: New York
Nationality/Race: French, English, Swedish, Armenian.
Hair Color: Really dark brown, with two purple streaks (at the front, by her face) at the moment.
Hair Style: Long hair down to the middle of her back, which she does nothing with.
Eyes: Brown.
Height: 5'11"
Body type: Average. (More towards the thin side, but not terribly thin)
Skin: Pale. Autumn spends most of her time indoors, especially during the winter months.
Clothing: Autumn has no particular style, wearing whatever she pleases. Her usual outfit consists of jeans (preferably long, baggy jeans) with a dark-colored t-shirt. Some of the shirts she wears: Pink Floyd shirts, plain shirts, shirts with funny phrases on them, etc. She sometimes wears a wide-leg pair of jeans, which people refer to as "hippie" jeans. Shoes? She owns a pair of skate shoes from a shoe store that was in town. She also owns a little bit of clothing that "Gothic" or "Punk" people tend to wear: Pants with straps & chains, a choker with a padlock as a pendant, & tank-tops. Autumn is also almost always wearing some sort of jewelry, usually one of her necklaces. Her favorite is her necklace with the snowflake pendant.
Occupation: Autumn currently has none, except as a stocker at a local arts & crafts store.. Something she isn't exactly enjoying. She hopes to earn enough money to go to an art school to improve her photography skills.
Religion: Atheist.
Personality: Autumn is usually an easy-going person, but she has her moments. She stresses out easily about some things, & tends to over-worry about problems. (Sometimes even little ones, which don't seem so little to her) She is sometimes prone to big mood swings, & can go from happy & dandy one moment, to angry & bitter the next. Due to some rough times in her past at her schools, sometimes she finds it hard to trust people. Other times, she trusts people too easily, & sometimes winds up only being hurt from her mistake. Once she believes she can trust someone & think she's sure that they won't turn around & stab her in the back, she opens up to those people more. She is someone who is loyal to her friends, & will not stand aside if someone is giving her friend(s) a hard time.
Hobbies: Digital photography, & hopes to start coin collecting.
Likes: Mushrooms, mac & cheese, warm weather, christmas lights, chilli, jewelry, anime, reading, baggy pants.
Dislikes: Onions, cold weather, snow, old-fashioned people, racists, young children, seaweed, baggy shirts.
Fears: Rejection by her friends; drowning; dying some slow, painful death.
Phobia: Claustraphobia.

Family: She lives with her immediate family, which consists of her parents, & a younger brother. She also has two older half-brothers & an older half-sister, but due to a family that doesn't get along with each other very well and/or poorly maintains contact with one another, she hasn't seen or spoken to them since she was a little girl. Her father, who is the one that Autumn got her tall-ness from, retired from the air force after 21 years. As a result of this, or so Autumn believes, he is quite strict about everything & gets angry easily. He also does nothing but degrade Autumn, putting her down, & perhaps lowering her self-esteem. He is tall, has brown eyes, & dark brown hair. Her mother is an old-fashioned chain-smoker, always seen smoking away in her house. She also had brown hair, but had taken to dying it a reddish color years back, when Autumn was little. Autumn's brother, Andy, was someone that Autumn despised. The two never got along, they always argued.. Autumn felt that he was the more immature of the two, despite what their parents had told them. He was someone Autumn would certainly not mind ever seeing again... Or so she thought.

Things she took:
-Her clothing, which consists of:
-Jeans. (Two pairs of regular, long, baggy flare jeans, & one pair of (very) wide-leg jeans)
-Black wide-leg pants.
-Tripp pants. (Hot Topic pants with chains & straps. She chose a pair of men's pants, since they were baggier & had more straps & chains)
-Black t-shirts (Pink Floyd DSOTM shirt; wolf t-shirts; plain black t-shirts; funny quote shirts.)
-Plain black tank-top shirt.
-Another black tank-top shirt. (Given to her by an old friend)
-Undergarments (Underwear, bras, etc)

History:

Autumn was born in New York in the fall (or summer, if you wanted to be technical) of 1987. She was supposedly a cute, adorable brown-eyed, brown-haired little girl in her toddlers years. Now, she was just someone working to try to go to some sort of college, & at the same time, impress her parents.

When Autumn was three years old, her younger brother, Andrew was born. When the two were real little, they got along. As the years progressed, however, & Autumn matured while Andy did not, the two started arguing more & more. By the time Autumn was 14, she was already getting into fist-fights with her brother.

When Autumn was only 4, the family packed up & headed off to Canada, since her father, who was in the United States Air Force, got stationed there. When they lived there, they moved around from house to house. Autumn never knew why, but she never really liked it. Because they moved around from house to house, that also means that she hopped around from school to school. She had to constantly make new friends & say good-bye before she knew it. Over time, she grew to hate it, & just wished she could make friends & stay with them for more than a year or two.

It was also in Canada where she started to have issues with bullies, albeit the bullying wasn't so bad there. It was just the usual bully poking fun over stupid things; what exactly, Autumn no longer remembers. Half the time, she hung around where teachers were wandering so that if she did have problems, she could go to a teacher Throughout her short 5 years in Canada, Autumn lived in 4 different houses, & went to 3 different schoosl, 4 if you counted one school being moved to a newer building.

Not long after she turned 9, about a month & a half later, the family packed up & moved yet again. This time, it was quite a big move: From a cold, snowy day in Ontario, Canada, to the warm, humid night-time weather in Hawaii at Hawaii's Honolulu International Airport. It was there in Hawaii that Autumn learned that Hawaii wasn't quite such a friendly, happy place as it had been cracked up to me. (Except to tourist, she felt, because they were paying to visit there.. And people always like to make the tourists happy so they return & dump more money. That was Autumn's later outlook on it) It was there that the bullying got much worse.

She went to a little elementary school to continue her 4th grade year, since she moved away early on into it from Canada. People there found it rather interesting that she was from Canada. It was a bit strange to Autumn though, the move back to the United States. She had to learn the US national songs, which, at that school, one of them was sung each morning. Things were fine & peachy at that school, & there wasn't any real problems. When she started 5th grade, they moved to a different part of the island, & yet again, had to move to a different house & start off at a new school.

At her new school, no one thought nothing of her at first. Then the bullying started. People started to poke fun at her for all sorts of stupid things. The way she sat at her desk in class, which wasn't unusual; she just propped her chin on her hand, yet it was apparently hilarious to the immature boys. They poked fun at the fact she hung out with mostly boys instead of girls, accusing her of doing rather foul things.. In 6th grade, even! Autumn also looked more towards the teachers to help her against the bullies, thus earning herself more bullying & earning the nickname "Teacher's Pet." It didn't get any better when she made it to 7th grade, & had to go to a school for 7th & 8th graders. It was a small school of roughly 500 students, but before the end of her 7th grade year, almost the entire school hated her because of rumors started by the kids from her previous school.

Autumn got bullied over even more silly stuff, from her clothing, from the shampoo she used, to the necklaces she wore, to the way she spoke, & so on. 8th grade wasn't any better. The bullying continued, & by this time, Autumn abandoned the teachers' protection & started getting into fights. It started when a boy walked by & made fun of the way she wrote her name in cursive in the middle of math class. She just got so tired of it & was so sick of him, when he started laughing, she just socked him in the shoulder. He stopped laughing, & punched her back, & she landed one more to his chest before the teacher broke it up & sent them to the vice principal's office. All Autumn got was an ISS, which she didn't think was too bad. She got into a few more fights before 8th grade ended, & before she moved, once more.

Autumn & her family moved away in early June, about 3 months before her 14th birthday. They made another big move, moving from Hawaii to New Hampshire, where they stayed with some relatives. Things got off to a rocky start when her aunt hated her right off the bat, just because Autumn, who was 13, didn't like to play with her very annoying 7 year old cousin, Natalie. All summer long, her aunt sought out a reason to get rid of her & get them out of the house. She finally got an excuse when Autumn, her borther, Natalie, & her two other cousins, Adam & Jon, were playing around outside one day, & Autumn's aunt got pissed off at something she did. Autumn was accused of attempting something Autumn knew nothing about, & Autumn was stuck confined to a basement apartment for a month. Her family finally got the boot when her mother refused to stand in the pouring rain & write out a check for the rent. Since there was no relatives close by that they could stay at. they had to drive for 2 hours just to have a place to stay. By the end of it all, it wasn't until October when they finally had a new home & could finally move in. It was also in early October that Autumn finally started out high school. To Autumn, it was her best opportunity to start fresh, since no one knew her at all.

Her high school years kicked off to an alright start, although her grades were.. Less than satisfactory. She failed a few classes, which her parents gave her hell about. She had failed an english class, to which Autumn felt that she failed because she lacked the creativity for some writing projects. (i.e: Stories & poetry) She failed science, which she blamed on her teacher for adding up her grades wrong. (After all, she had a 64 in the class before the finals, got an 85 on the finals, & somehow only managed to boost her grade to a 66, 4 points below the pass/fail mark) Autumn also had her first boyfriend her freshman year, something she never thought she'd be able to do. Autumn also had a lot of attention from people she didn't know, but it was for a good thing this time: She was from Hawaii. Even seniors, who never really payed attention to the matters of freshmen, knew who she was & inquired her about it.

Her sophomore year went rather smoothly. Despite a couple of girls, one of which used to be Autumn's friend, who thought it was funny to pick on her about her clothing & her lack of "style," everything else seemed to be fine. (She just figured she had better things to blow her money on than wasting $90 for a pair of jeans that were pre-ripped) She managed to pull off passing grades her entire year, which she was rather proud of. Her parents, though, instead badgered her, telling her she could've done better, which bothered Autumn. Autumn had also gotten dumped into the same science class she failed, with the same teacher. Luck seemed to shine on Autumn though, because her science teacher left early due to her having a baby, & the substitute teacher they had for the rest of the class was a nice teacher. Autumn passed the class with flying colors.

Her junior year didn't quite go that smoothly.. Her boyfriend because suspicious of everything Autumn did, & got angry if she wasn't at his side. Autumn didn't take well to this, & after a failed discussion about it, the two broke up. Autumn got dumped into a year-long English class, in addition to a regular junior English class, due to the fact that the school felt that students should be learning instead of just having a free block. The year-long class, Autumn failed, with poor marks to start with that just declined throughout the year. She also failed yet another science class, by a matter of a few points. By the time Autumn finished her junior year, she had failed a grand total of 5 classes throughout her 3 years, leaving room for no more failure.

Her senior year was a nightmare. She got put into a English class that Autumn failed without a problem. Her parents freaked. Autumn tried to talk them into letting her go to summer school, but they refused, saying that they weren't going to pay for the work she didn't do. Autumn also somehow managed to fail another class, by just one point. At this point, she had a new boyfriend, & also learned that her first ex had been keeping tabs on her & knew who she had dated since they broke up, including a 21 year old that didn't even live in town. (How he learned that, Autumn never did find out) Since she needed only one or two classes to graduate, she elected to only do one semester her next school year & get out in January.

Her second senior year was anything but relaxing. The school lost her class sign-up sheets, & she was dumped into the same English class she had failed before. She couldn't change her classm, either, due to her only remaining for one semester. At first, Autumn looked like she would pass the class, but it wasn't so. She failed the class. Her only hope of passing the class was shot when she was out with mononucleosis a week before exams. Half the exam for the class was a group project, which she couldn't participate in. The best she could get on the final was a 50, which didn't help any. A new assistant principal made her year a little more difficult as well. Autumn was accused of using drugs after one of her so-called 'friend' gave out some pills to people, including Autumn, & was suspended for the very first time. (Which damanged her trust in her friends for a little while) It was also Autumn's first encounter with the police. If Autumn messed up again, she would be expelled. All of this made her parents quite angry & disappointed with her. The assistant principal yet again accused her of using drugs when she stopped to talk to a friend in the bathroom. Autumn felt that the school was out to get her kicked out, & her theory seemed confirmed after she failed the English class. She needed approval to return for a second semester, & was denied approval & was going to be forced to become a high-school drop-out. Her parents actually helped her for once & managed to get her one more semester, but there was the "lecture" that followed telling Autumn she had better not screw up again. Autumn barely managed to get by a second English class, which a good chunk of the students failed, & Autumn finally graduated after 5 years of high school.

However, that didn't seem enough to her parents. After she graduated, they nagged her to get a job & start planning for college. Her father was disappointed that Autumn hadn't figured out a plan just yet.

During her second senior year, Autumn had recieved a digital camera for her birthday from her aunt. She began to teach herself how to do a bit of photography, going out & taking photos of scenery, landscapes, & flowers whenever she had the chance. After she graduated, she had thoughts of finding a school where she could learn more about photography & improve her skills. Her parents claimed that they wouldn't help her at all with paying for further schooling, leaving Autumn to work. Autumn began working at a local arts & crafts store, trying to save some money so she could go to school & perhaps be successful at something, & hopefully show her parents that she wasn't going to wind up being nothing in life.

The Animal - Eastern Gray Kangaroo:

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.

Scientific classification:
Kingdom: Animalia

Phylum: Chordata

Class: Mammalia
Infraclass: Marsupialia

Order: Diprotodontia

Family: Macropodidae

Genus: Macropus

Species: M. giganteus

Binomial name
Macropus giganteus
Shaw, 1790

~~~
General Info
Southern and eastern Australia support a population of several million Eastern Grey Kangaroos. The scientific name, Macropus giganteus is misleading, as while a big Eastern Grey male weighs around 66 kg and stands almost 2 m tall, the Red Kangaroo of the semi-arid inland is bigger still.
Eastern Greys are easy to recognise: their soft grey coat is distinctive, and they are usually found in moister, more fertile areas than the Red. Alternative names for the species include Great Grey Kangaroo and Forester.
Although the Red is better known by reputation, the Eastern Grey is the species most commonly seen in the flesh: few Australians visit the arid interior of the continent, while many live in and around the major cities of the south and east coast, from where it is usually only a short drive to the remaining pockets of near-city bushland where roos can be found without much difficulty. They prefer open grassland with areas of bush for daytime shelter. Like all kangaroos, they are mainly nocturnal and crepuscular, and are mostly seen early in the morning, or as the light starts to fade in the evening.
In more remote areas, Eastern Greys occur in great numbers and if left unchecked reach plague proportions. From time to time shooters are employed to reduce their numbers, almost always to the accompaniment of a public outcry. Given the very limited amount of fodder in dry years, however, the only other choice is starvation.
It is often said that kangaroo populations have increased significantly since the European colonisation of Australia because of the increased areas of grassland (as opposed to forest), the reduction in Dingo numbers, and the availability of artificial watering holes. At least so far as Eastern Greys are concerned, the scientific evidence suggests otherwise: the current population is to be measured in tens of millions, but the estimated pre-European population is thought to have been closer to hundreds of millions.
While Eastern Greys remain common, there are vast areas of country from which they have been exterminated (in general, they avoid humans), and most of the more fertile districts now carry crops or exotic pasture grasses which kangaroos tend not to eat. (One of the easiest ways to find kangaroos is to look for patches of remnant native grassland.) -Wikipedia
Diet:
Eastern grey kangaroos eat grasses, leaves, tree bark, and shrubby browse. They use microorganisms in an organ called the cecum to digest the cellulose of plants. This kangaroo requires very little water and is able to survive on plants high in fiber. Eastern grey kangaroos spend between 6 and 10 hours grazing per day, mostly at dawn and dusk. In captivity, these kangaroos are often fed a pelleted grain or hay. -Erie Zoo
Habitat:
Eastern grey kangaroos are capable of using several different types of habitats. They can be found in woodlands, open forests, coastal heathland, and open grassland areas. They have also been found near city areas and on golf courses. These kangaroos prefer areas with heterogeneous habitats, because these areas are the most likely to meet their requirements for food and cover.-Erie Zoo
Other Facts:
Eastern grey kangaroos can jump up to nine metres in a single leap and reach speeds of 30 mph, using less energy the faster they go. When moving slowly they crawl along on all fours. -BBC Nature
You guys can start posting now if you'd like, even though I still haven't completed the information. sweatdrop
Switching around to different PCs is making it take longer for me to fill out all the info. Right now, I have my character's history all typed up, but it's on another computer. gonk And I don't feel like retyping it. xd So the next time I'm there, I'll put it up. domokun
Now to see if I had the animal information all put together on this PC or not.
Ah, kangaroo! I like the animal choice ^w^ A kangaroo anthro would be interesting to see, but I think a nonmorphic is fine too. As they are, even a non-morphic kangaroo has a sort of human air to them (stands upright, has front paws that function as 'hands'...you know)...if you can get non-morphic, I think you should go for it! If not, hey, anthro kangaroo would be cool too.
Don't worry about a long backstory- my character had a mass backstory (as you saw XD; ), after all. Some people might be all 'lolol tl;dr' but you probably didn't need the opinion of people too lazy to read stuff anyways XD Mmm, good luck with your quest!
True, but I'm thinking that a non-morphic serum, if I could obtain one, would make my character look even more like a kangaroo.. More animal-istic.
I'm editing my history now, changing things around that I didn't like after I read over it. Unfortunately, I forgot to make it accessable at my house, so I have to wait until this weekend.. Fortunately, I have computer access all weekend, so it should be up by then. (Unless the laptop decides to tank & I have to start from scratch again)
I think your character will pwn for the backstory over mine. Ah well, whatever. And that's true, about the lazy people & stuff. domokun
And did you see the newest addition to the Islanders? (Well, will be the newest. Right now, her status is incoming.) Dude, a Tyrannosaurus Rex? I'm all hyped to see that 100%. (Imagine if it had been a non-morphic though. x.x Holy hell!)
Haha, that would scare any newcomers later on.. (Assuming that she made it far enough into her transformation before the 100-person limit was reached)
