hey all, I saw Diru in concert live yay!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! They aren't visual anymore they're more mainstream metal now. What do you think was better their visual style or their new mainstream metal style? Personally I lke their visual kei style.
Diru love, my mother and I have new kittens she named her's Diekyo after Die and Kyo and my little girl (black&white kitten) named Reikyo after Reita of the GazettE and Kyo.

They are the exact equivalent of and american Scremo band, becasue of all the energy when they preform, though a little more visual because...well because Kyo is Kyo lol. But no, definatly no longer VK
I like both, I guess I dont really have a preference, cause my music preference has expanded since I first started listening to them. And Ill just follow their changes, unless they actually do something that I don't like in which case Ill be like.....ehhh no. But I doubt that will happen.

Eh.. Visual Kei is an appearance, not a music style. So saying they're more mainstream metal now is kinda.. a different thing. Anyway, I don't think you can place them into a catogory that easily. They still make all kinds of music, not just metal neutral But yeah, they stopped with the whole VK thing quite some years ago already. And I think it's good. Because seriously, wouldn't it be a bit weird to still see Kaoru walking around with bright pink hair and skirts now he's 32? xd so yeah, they've said themselves that they'll never stop changing styles and I think that's a good thing in a band, because all of the same just gets boring after a while ne ^^

Yeah...the VK thing sorta went out a while ago........But that doesn't mean they've gotten better or worse because of it, in my opinion. I mean, they've always been brilliant (Einsteins of the music industry, I tell you!), and they always will be, I guess. They're just not dressing up so much anymore.

when I meant their "style" I meant their image. So they cast away their vk style with Vulgar, I have the cd but its burned so all the songs were downloaded and they look vk still the "Obscure" pv. Hey! I like Kaoru w/ pink hair. I feel like everyone misunderstood what I meant. Deg is still the GOD band so.................... eh? what about Mana he's like 30-something maybe and still wearing dresses. It seems like they want to be american with their style of clothing that's what I don't like. Oh well.....

Part of the reason that Diru isn't VK anymore is because Kyo was tired of the fans focussing on their image rather than their music. Dir en grey is also looking for global success, rather than having a fanbase solely in Japan, and more people are more willing to listen to a metal band wearing wifebeaters and jeans than a metal band wearing dresses and fake nails.
Dir en grey has changed both their musical and visual styles a lot over the years, but the two really aren't connected. True, those bands who look more hardcore tend to play their music as such, but there's not always a correlation. Just because Dir en grey has changed from being VK doesn't mean their music is any better or worse solely because of that.
And such beautiful men should wear skirts until they just don't want to. Or when they're really old and wrinkly. That just looks gross. *thought* What will 80-year-old Mana-sama look like?! D:

No one is still understanding what I'm saying. I'm asking what do you prefer their vk style or their new style - looks? I'm not connecting the music to the style of dressing, this is where people misinterpreted my post. I wasn't talking about their music, because the music only became better. Yes I understand that they want global success but it wouldn't hinder by their vk style, people should focus more on their music. They shoulda kept it the same to prove a point. Who really understand anything that Kyo-sama is saying in his lyrics, I mean really pay attention? I do. That's why I hate Gackt fans because very few of them are actually paying attention to what he is saying and he went from vk to normal and ppl still don't pay attention. It makes no difference what they look like so I think they should have kept the vk.

gigen akanairu No one is still understanding what I'm saying. I'm asking what do you prefer their vk style or their new style - looks? Oh. Well, I prefer the VK style, but I like the more eroguro costumes rather than straight-up visual kei.gigen akanairu Yes I understand that they want global success but it wouldn't hinder by their vk style, people should focus more on their music. They shoulda kept it the same to prove a point. But there's a large amount of potential fans who would take one look at them and go. "Ohmigod. They're wearing dresses. They must be total pansies who can't sing for s**t." Most of the world isn't nearly as open as Asian countries can be.gigen akanairu Who really understand anything that Kyo-sama is saying in his lyrics, I mean really pay attention? I do. That's why I hate Gackt fans because very few of them are actually paying attention to what he is saying and he went from vk to normal and ppl still don't pay attention. It makes no difference what they look like so I think they should have kept the vk. You're making generalizations about Gackt fans. Most of the people I have talked to love his style, his music, and his lyrics. True, I talk to some pretty hardcore people, but still. And correct me if I'm wrong, but the reason Gackt went from VK to normal was because he left Malice Mizer. Unless you're talking about something else I'm not as familiar with? I don't know as much about Gackt.

Dir en grey shouldn't worry about their image all of their true fans will still be fans no matter what. People are close-minded.
I was not generalizing gackt fans its the ones I have talked to that did not realize or pay attention to the things he was really talking about in his songs.

I'm sorry if I'm being really bitchy, but, yeah, you were. You said you "hate Gackt fans because very few of them pay attention to what he is saying". I'm probably so hung up on this because I love Gackt, and I actually do read a LOT into his songs. He writes pretty amazing stuff.
Okay, I'm sorry. I just had to get that off my chest. I'm going to stop the offtopic argument now, though.
