According to The Ribos Operation, the Doctor 'borrowed' the TARDIS at the age of 236, and if he's been piloting the TARDIS for 900 years, that makes him 1136 years old! biggrin Of cource, he may be using Gallifreyan years...

Most folks I've talked to would agree that your guess is about right, DWNut. He has been traveling for about 900 years (as stated by Doctor #9). Most average guesses are between 1100 and 1200 years. As to whose measurement of years... that's up for grabs. wink

You got the 1136 from wikipedia =P
His older than that according to T.Davies. And if you followed the cartmell masterplan then his even older.

So hard to tell... if you're measuring age by the coming and going and ageing of companions (the companions seen on TV particularly) then he's much much much much younger - unless you say that most of that 1000 years was spent as the First Doctor before we meet him.
I think I agree with you though that he probably is around the 1200 mark. But then again I also think that he lies about his age a lot.

Well, in Remembrance of the Daleks, Rachel asks the Doctor how he was able to rewire the Dalek transmat, and he said "It's easy, when you have 900 years experience!" so he must be at least 950 ish...

Thats enquiring he has around 900 years of experience with time travel. Thats not his age.

Or he might have been completely exaggerating just to sound impressive. It's the sort of thing the Doctor would do.

Doctors 1-8 claimed to be 1000 something
and Doctors 9-10 claim to be 900 but he also says that all the Time Loards are dead but I don't buy that [spioler]since in the third season they are bringing back Rani back for the third season and the Master is still alive. He's jus in a black hole >.>

Roobarb So hard to tell... if you're measuring age by the coming and going and ageing of companions (the companions seen on TV particularly) then he's much much much much younger - unless you say that most of that 1000 years was spent as the First Doctor before we meet him. Of course, we don't know how much time he spends travelling alone between companions (or at least companions from Earth). Because of that handy time travel, he could bugger off for centuries and muck around on totally different planets, then come back to Earth barely a minute or two after he left it. Or indeed, a minute or two before he left it, if he wanted to be silly. But that's just theorising. As previous people said, he's well over 1000. Though whether that's in Earth or Gallifrey years... and I imagine travelling through time mucks it up a bit as well. Does he even bother counting?
