Every morning, the mass media class at my school does the morning announcements as a TV broadcast that runs to every classroom. Since it's done by a class, it is almost completely run by students, this includes the people who report the news.
This morning, they added a new section to the broadcast where a girl goes around the school asking people questions. They began the program by bragging about how we were one of the best high schools in the state with some of the highest SAT scores. Then they showed the girl walking around school asking random kids if they believed in the suffrage of women. Out of the 10-20 people asked, most people answered no, that they did not believe women should suffer, and for those of you who don't know, suffrage is the right to vote. There were maybe two people who said yes, that they believed women should have the right to vote.
Discuss: - Common stupidity - What this says about public schools today - Words that sound different from what they mean - School House Rock videos and how obvious it is that most the kids at my school haven't seen the one entitled "Suffering until suffrage" - The youtube clip Niet has informed me there is of this or other youtube clips you find entertaining whee

I'm appalled...... utterly appalled. Though, I feel like I'm getting stupid these days... it seems like no one is answering the questions I'm asking any more. I ask a question, and a person answers a question I didn't ask, I then ask the question again to put more emphasis on the fact that I was asking a different question, then they simply answer the question the exact way they did before. Am I stupid, or are they?!! crying
Oh yeah, and I hope the announcements bothered to inform the school about how stupid these people were and what suffrage ACTUALLY meant. :frown:

I think the kids completely misunderstood the question..I think they do believe women should have the right to vote..I think they thought the question meant should women suffer...that shows the lack of education kids get these days..

I was trying to make an outline for essay with a friend the other day and I kept asking him what he thought the main topic of the first paragraph should be (wanting an answer like "buddhism's spread via trade" or something simple like that) but he kept giving me this long explanation in detail of a broad topic. It got so annoying I just got up and walked off to do other homework because he wasn't paying attention and we weren't getting anywhere. @.@ I don't think it's really a stupidity thing. I think it's just due to plain old not listening. And yes, they did.

That's kind of depressing. I can only hope that the people who said no didn't know what suffrage meant. If they did know what it meant, then all I can wonder is what is wrong with the world. sweatdrop

One of my friends in highschool made a big empty book and titled it Common Sense. Then whenever anyone said something retarded, he'd smack'em up-side the head, write their name and date it. By the end of the first year he had around 80 pages filled out.
