 The tome before you belongs to chaoticdivinity and Aido. There is a seal surrounding the book, one that allows you to leaf through the pages but prevents you from adding anything. The enchantment is strong and cannot be broken so easily, if at all.  Aido's Arrival Huni was inside the Study, and she was studying of all things. Linneas was sitting on her lap, trying his best to help his mother in her quest to cram for her Finance exam. The red head had locked the door, allowing customers free reign of the shop. She really trusted people too much.Chao lightly pushed open the door to the stationary store, a burst of frigid air following her until it was abruptly cut off as she closed the door with a snap. Giving her head a small shake she strode into the shop. For once intent on buying some stationary as well as visiting her friend and godson. Huni yawned and stretched out the kinks in her back. Egads she was exhausted and stressed, "Linny, I'm going to the kitchen to get a snack. I'll be right back, okie?"Linneas nodded obediently, his understanding of the English language was improving. That and Huni not infantalizing him had some effect.As the red head exited the Study, she noticed Chao had arrived. "Oh! Great timing, could you watch Linny in the Study for me while I go get a snack?"Chao smiled to her friend, "sure," she replied, moving towards the study. The variety of stationary could wait a few minutes anyway. Sliding through the door Chao waved cheerfully to her godson, "Linny!" she chirped, scooping him up into a hug. Linneas gurgled happily at the sight of his Aunt Chao. "Chlaaaa~" he giggled as she scooped him into her arms.Ah, another unsuspecting Author, and this time with an extra audience. The Tome would have been grinning from ear to ear if it just had a face. The Study's door slammed shut, and the force caused Huni's notes and practice sheets to fall off the table, revealing the leather Tome. Chao started slightly as the door snapped shut, gripping Linneas a but closer to herself. Looking towards the door she noticed it had only slammed shut, "gods," she grumbled as her heartbeat began to slow back to its normal pace. About to cast it off as just the wind from a new customer coming into the shop she noticed the fallen papers and tome out of the corner of her eye. Glancing to Linneas she shifted him to one arm and trotted over to the tome curiously, running a hand over its cover with a light c**k to her head before pulling back the cover. Usually she had enough sense and respect of others things not to peak but something about the tome had piqued her curiosity which demanded that she see what lay beneath the cover. Somehow, this did not scare Linneas, it all seemed familiar, really, a sense of deja vu if you will. Quietly he gripped his broom plushie tighter to himself and snuggled against Chao a bit more.The Tome opened, not bothering with theatrics involving its pages. Instead it quickly asked the question: What lies behind the darkness?Chao blinked at the question a few times before shrugging, impulsively deciding to answer, though she wasn't sure how. Quickly finding the pen Huni had been using before she lent over the paper slightly. All that has been lost.The answer was written as soon as it had formed itself in her mind. The lights began to dim, slowly, gradually. The shadows within the room seemed to rise up, engulfing everything and everyone in their path. Like quicksand, the shadows pulled in the writing table and the Tome into a fathomless abyss. And they would reach for Chao and Linneas. But before the intangible darkness reached the woman's hips, they receded. The shadows seemingly fled back to lurk within their corners. Nothing seemed out of the place, the practice sheets and notes were still scattered all over the floor, the faded paintings looked as faded as always. But there was something else, or rather someone else in the room. Sitting on the writing table, hugging another Tome was a little girl with what appeared to be a halo atop her head.  Linneas had been silent the whole time, unafraid but worried at the same time. The shadows didn't appear menacing, if any they appeared lost and lonely to him. When the shadows went away, he was curious at the new Tale before himChao had frozen as the shadows had reared up, gripping onto Linny fiercely, holding him up a bit higher, only barely noting how calm the toddler had appeared. It was probably the only thing that had kept her from screaming. As the shadows quickly receded she released the breath she'd been holding. "What was that?" she murmured shakily, looking at the shadows which had fled back to their original places before noticing the little girl on the table and starting again, staring wide eyed at her. The little girl looked up, two toned eyes curiously taking in the sight of the woman with the large eyes and the other tale. She cocked her head at the two, "kyu?" she murmured.After a moment Chao moved and picked the little girl up with one arm, "um...hello there, where'd you come from?" she asked. "Hu?" Linny tilted his head at the other baby. He hoped nothing would go wrong this time, like with Luna and Kiarhu."I'm baaaaack." Huni chirped, entering the Study, carrying a tray of sandwiches and juice cartons. She paused at the sight of the new Tale and broke into a smile. "Oh my!! The Study chose you! The Tome chose you!!! Eeeeeee!!! I'm so happy for you!!" she squealed, half-dropping the tray onto the writing table.Aido blinked at Linny, before hesitatly raising a hand in greeting towards the other Tale, her crimson shirt falling a bit so she could wave her tiny hand a bit. "Hu?" she repeated.Chao glanced down to the new addition to her arms then back to the squealing Huni before smiling slightly, "oh gods. I suppose so? I'm sorry for being disbelieving about your story earlier Huni," she said, still slightly in a state of shock. Linneas giggled as Huni took him into her arms to allow Chao better leverage on Aido. He pointed to himself with his broom plush "Leenee." he nodded."She's adorable, what's her name?" Huni asked, patting Aido's hair, careful not to touch her halo.She giggled in return, waving her pacifier a bit, about to respond in turn when she paused momentairly."Her name?" Chao echoed before glancing at the tome the girl had left on the table, the embossed words catching her eye. "Aido-?" That rang a bell! With a small grin Aido, gestured her pacifier to herself, "Aiiii," she said, smiling at the pleasant feeling of Huni petting her hair."Aiii." Linneas repeated, he then pointed to his broom plushie "Praaa." he beamed proudly. Please don't let anything go wrong, he prayed, no scary images, or crying like the last time."Aido, eh? How pretty." Huni grinned, adjusting Linneas as he seemed to be leaning forward.Chao nodded, patting Aido's hair tenatively, smiling when the little girl smiled back, "it is," she replied, glancing around the study. "Hey Huni, have a lot of kids..." she groped for the word. "Appeared from here?" She hadn't seen any other than Aido and Linny after all, and she'd only witnessed Aido's appearance after all. "Praa?" she cocked her head before smiling, wiggling in Chao's arms until the teen lent forward so that Aido could pat the broom plush, "Praa," she chirped, as if greeting the broom plush, rapidly getting used to being around the other tale and the two women, not even the slightest question in her mind as to why she was there. She just was."Believe it or not, excluding Linny and Khia, Aido's the-" Huni pauses to count on her fingers "Fourth one that emerged from the Study. And I don't think it's satisfied."Linneas didn't wonder where Aido came from, it didn't seem important enough to the infant. All he knew was that he had a new friend.Huni briefly glanced at her watch and yelped, "Gah!! Must cram! Not finished yet!! Oh no's." she exclaimed, her expression similar to the feeling of gonk .Forth?" she blinked, "wow. Just, wow. At least Aido and Linny will have lots of people to play with," she said with a grin. Aido smiled at the other boy then giggled slightly at Huni's expression, though her tone didn't sound good her face just looked so funny!Chao patted her friend, "heh, then go study! Aido and I'll just hang out in the shop for a while until we go home." A gust of chilly wind blew into the small shop as a hula-skirted figure pushed the door open. Glancing about the interior of the shop, Rieluni would slam the door shut behind her, shedding woolen scarves as she did so. "Is anyone here?" she called nervously, leaning down to scoop up a dropped daisy. This was the first time she had set foot within the shop, for some odd reason--Riel usually attacked every stationary shop she spotted like a ravaging bear. At the sound of a new voice Chao made her way back into the main store, waving slightly to Huni, "good luck studying!" Aido mimiced the wave to her newly made friend as the door shut, pouting slightly. She had wanted to play...Catching her newly adopted daughter's pout Chao patted her head, "you'll see Linny again soon. Don't worry." [To the darkened skies once more and ever onward.]

Name» Her name is Aido. Apparently, the name has its roots in African mythology and the legend of "Aido-Hwedo". There's a few variations of the legend, but they all involve a giant rainbow serpent/dragon. Aido's name came with her when she arrived in the Study and one can only guess what her name giver was thinking when they decided she'd be called that.
Aido has taken on her mother's last name, making her legally Aido Luaier.

Sleep Habits: After being stuck on Reit Aido's developed the handy little trick of being able to fall asleep just about anywhere including but not limited to: park benches, tree branches, under chairs and moldy mattresses.
{ A b i l i t i e s }
Aido is, above almost everything else (and just below being a Tale) a Shadow Mancer. As such she gets to have funky powers and a mob or two on her tail. Fair trade? She's not sure.
::Manipulation of Shadows:
-Shadow Walking:: she can use existing shadows to transport herself from one place to another. Shadow walking is heavily effected by her physical and mental health. Also, if she (or Rael) has never been where she's trying to go, there isn't a very good chance that she'll be able to get there without some sort of trouble. Another catch is that it doesn't work very well if she trying to go between worlds.
-Rael:: Aido can; communicate with Rael (non-verbal on his part, verbal on her's); 'summon' Rael and 'put him away' from/in her shadow; and she always has some awareness as to where Rael is.
Keeping Rael on the physical plane requires Aido to expend some energy, though now she's gotten to the point that she can support Rael almost constantly as long as she's in moderate to excellent health. The more her health deteriorates, the less likely she'll be able to support Rael and stay conscious.
-Crafting solids from shadows:: She can 'scoop up' shadows and mold them. Notably, anything Aido creates is, ultimately, temporary. Either she will release it herself or, when she dies, the shadows would eventually 'decompose' on their own.
i. She can use shadows to numb areas of her own skin and temporarily stem the flow of blood. Theoretically she could also use shadows to keep more extreme wounds in check (ie. hold a broken bone together, keep her innards from falling out after an extreme slice, ect.) but she's never tried.
This is, in essence, simply a faction of another power, as she's merely creating bandages, but it's worth mentioning all the same. Also, this has yet to be attempted on another person.
{ Physical Notes: }
Notably some of these notes pertain to information which may never be realized by Aido, or the people around her, ICly.
I. By the standard definition Aido is blind in her left (our right) eye [the golden irised one]. Her mind doesn't take information about light in through it, rather it notes information about Shadows. As such, her depth perception is sometimes a little off (especially when she's in an area with very few shadows) and her reaction times are slightly different from one side to the other.
i. As such; depending on the time of day/the light/shadows she has to work with it's often very easy to blind sight her.
ii. Aido's left eye doesn't look or act like a blind eye. Her iris is clear, her pupil dilates and contracts with the amount of light it's exposed to.
iii. Notably: Aido's completely unaware of all this and this is a very common trait for Shadow Mancers (and, at the time, they were all fairly unaware of it as well). She will probably never become aware of it.
II. The soles of Aido's feet appear to be trying very hard to be shoes. They're thick and rough and not what you'd expect if you didn't know her very well.
Normal Attire: Never seen without her scarf [dark violet/blue in color]. She's begun to branch out, wearing different colors/kinds of clothing. She's become quite fond of a few shades of pink and red along with cooler hues-like blues, purples and greys.
Her style of clothing is often a well fitting mix of old fashioned and modern. Much of it is also very practical, for example; she likes wearing jeans (easy to move in) and layers (useful and easy to dispose of/add to if needed). She has no real preference between masculine and feminine clothing and will often mix and match, depending on what's clean/available. She's also developed a certain fondness for coattails (though the blame for that probably lies with Kibeth.)
As for jewelry she tends to wear very little that's important to her. The only things she's truly attached to are; a silver bracelet that was given to her by Khia is always around her wrist, a small silver earcuff that is clipped to her left ear and a necklace given to her by her family for her first birthday.
But shiny things are sometimes hard to resist. At times Aido will be seen wearing numerous bangles and bracelets all about her wrists. Usually this means she's been thinking too much and is making an effort to ignore something by way of bright shinies.
{ Personality }
A wanderer/explorer by nature Aido is optimistic, warm and kind. She can, and will, be kind to anyone who hasn't hurt her friends (at all) or herself (and one has to really hurt her in order to shake her out of her kind nature). Forgivingly loyal, fiercely protective, with a prominent white-knight complex to boot she'd really prefer herself being in danger than her friends and doesn't seem to have any sort of reserve when it comes to putting herself in the line of fire. Her way of dealing with most obstacles is; avoid if possible and, if that's out of the question, she'll throw her entire self into doing what she's set out to do.
Now that she's a bit older Aido's started to loosen up. Life's short so you might as well try to be happy. She tends to smile, laugh and is trying to be more open with her emotions and her friends, mostly out of a fear of losing them to something or other.
Still... she can't quite manage to trust people easily. It's only those closest to her that she'll divulge her fears and worries to. It's only those people that she can find herself able to tolerate protection from, and even then it's hard for her as she usually feels that she should be the one protecting them, not the other way around.
Likes: Music, exploring, maps (preferably accurate ones), hope, Shadows, Rael, her friends, trust, her family, motion, tea <3
Dislikes: Running water [read: rivers, oceans, seas, ect.], loud screeching noises, people trying to protect her when they should be protection themselves, danger to her friends, the inability to breath, the residual cold from traveling through the Shadows, betrayal, not knowing where she is, the inability to get home, Illis', mobs, screwing things up, failing others, being unable to hold herself together, breaking down....
Phobia(s): Potamophobia- Fear of rivers or running water.

Nickname: Aemu, Chaos
Species: Heanzian
Age: 17
Physical Appearence: Chao has navy-blueblack hair that reached down to the small of her back and washed out grey-blue eyes. A bit on the thin side, though how she does it with Rico cooking is a mystery, she looks her age, or perhaps a bit older, with her only really distinguishing feature being her wings. Which are short, currently flightless and generally just the cause of backpain for her ><
Personality: A matriarch who never, EVER expected to settle down and have a family. Chao's still young and it often shows. Extremely adaptable, or perhaps just very desensitized, she's less likely to react to things most people would consider weird or fear inspiring. Scarcastic, cynical and loyal to a fault she's more than willing to do whatever it takes to keep her freedom and her family.
History: Aeon herself is very secretive of her past pre-Barton move. She arrived in Barton one day with nothing but a backpack full of odds and ends and the clothing on her back, calling herself "Chao". She bought an appartment for herself as well as a plot of land with a delapitated house near the forest by selling off many of the things she had. For quite some time she didn't venture into the mainstream of Gaia, mostly keeping herself busy by getting odd jobs (often fixing things about her apartment complex or walking various creatures) or going to school. At some point her twin, Rico, showed up and her old friend Sin, managed to find them. Between the three of them the old house was transformed into a comfortable home where Rico and Chao now live. Neither talk about their pasts often, save in the seculsion of their own home or when visiting their parents, and Sin is the only other one who seems to know anything.
Since the completion of the house Chao has become more involved in the community of Gaia to the point of making friends and, it was partially because of her friendship with Huni that led her to being Aido's guardian.
Extended History: [spoilerific]In all fact Chao could be considered a 'convict' hiding in Gaia. When she and her twin, Rico were born, Aeon had a small pair of downy white wings spreading from her back whereas Rico had nubby horns pressing out just above his forehead. While horns are a very common Heanzian trait wings are not, and she was the first of their kind to show this trait in some immeasurable amount of years. As He'ancele is very much a war inspired country/continent, seeking to someday unite a world empire under its banner, it's leaders took this as a sign from higher Powers that they were destined to do so and came for Aeon when the twins were 7. Aeon refused to go with them.
The next year their family was broken up when a group of men came for the two by force. Aeon was forced out the door by her mother and ran off, quickly joining up with a rebel group and lost contact with her brother and family. The young girl was quickly trained in piloting and was primarily a messanger/sniper but ended up in close range combat anyway, accounting for many of her quirks.
She spent the next four years piloting, was shot down several times, narrowly escaping until, finally, she was captured. After swiftly being sentanced to death the rebel's came for her once more, barely saving her from certain death via a beating by the high ranking guards. Unluckily she was thrust into a river and went over a waterfall, nearly dying in the process and is/was presumed dead by most of He'ancele.
What happened next is a mystery as somehow the pre-teen ended up in another world at Erasin's house. She stayed there for several months before leaving for new worlds and seeking someone who could hide her wings. It was several months before she came to Gaia, taking on an old nickname for her new identity.
*Note: Chao will not tell her real name to anyone for her own reasons, only her family, and possible Sin, knows it. This is why, when she is in the exclussive company of her family, she will be refered to as Aeon but with anyone else she's Chao. Please refer to her as Chao.
 Name: Rico Luaier
Species: Heanzian
Age: 16
Physical Appearence: Scruffy is a good way to describe Rico, though he tries really hard to keep himself relatively neat. His eyes are much more blue than Chao's and his hair is a great deal shorter, but otherwise they share a lithe build and
Personality: Rico's the more stable, less paranoid of the twins. Tolerant and patient he's most at home in the kitchen or surrounded by books. He's less adaptable than his sister, prefering stability and knowing what the future holds.
History: Recently Rico refound his sister, showing up on on the doorstep to Chao's apartment. As with his sister his past is mostly unknown. Also from Heanza he has a habit of dissapearing due to his line of work.
 Name: Rael
Species: Shadow
Age: -unknown-
History: Rael, it seems, was born with Aido. Their exactly relationship-when it started, what it was before- is unknown, but he and Aido are undeniably connected in a very strong way. Without Aido around Rael loses his entire sense of self. What he was Before is also unknown. He's eluded to having a few vague memories of a time from Before their birth in Gaia but if he knows anything explicit he's not telling.
Personality: Protective, cynical and blunt. Rael tends to not speak to 9/10 of the population and most of the time he does feel inclinced to speak its to say something harsh and critisizing (there are, of course, exceptions to this). He is one of the few beings Aido will actively snarl and argue with on a regular basis. He tends to be harsh on his Companion, acting as something of a reminder of her mortality and limits on many occassions (but, even if he won't admit it outright, it's only because he's a concerned sort of mother-hun-Shadow-thing).
 Name: Reid Luaier
Species: Mishap [Firefly/wisp]
Age: Toddler
Personality:Generally a happy-go-lucky, careless sort of child Reid gets along quite well with his siblings. Often dragging Aido out of her shell or room to get her to join in a game, song or dance with himself and their brother, Fai.
History: One day, having caught a break from school Chao went down to splurg on gold in the center of Gaia. Sadly the teen was caught in a rainstorm and sought shelter in what just happened to be a shop that supplied items for witches and such in the area... and was also an adoption center. One well meaning woman, creep glowing eyes, a longnecked man named Jabir and a new umbrella later Chao was on her way back home with Reid in tow.
Name: Kibeth Mirea
Nicknames: Kibble, Kii
Species: Shadow Mancer/???
Age: ??? [Deceased for quite some time now]
Personality: She has developed a hauty love of teasing Aido whenever possible and outwardly doesn't appear too annoyed by that fact that her passing came and went quite some time ago. On the other hand, she has manners, and it's obvious that, at one point or another, she was working in some form of delicate situation that required court like politeness, though she rarely exercises that in relation to Aido.
History: Kibeth's history, along with the nature of what she is in relation to Aido is very much in the dark. As she put it "-I don't know if we share a spirit or a shadow or what else..." But the fact is, she did die, though how or when is unknown, but both she and Aido are quite aware of it. The question that must be asked is, how and why was she reborn? So far, no answers have made themselves known or show any signs of being revealed any time soon....[Forget that once we were just dust from heavens far.]

 llThe first Tale that Aido met and one of her longest friends. He really is a sweetie, t seems he's begun to grow into himself lately.||Linny is one of my best friends, I've known him since the Beginning. On the other hand his other self, the one that wears his face but is not him, makes me want to hit him. Hard. But with Linny I feel safe, like it's okay to just... be, no matter what that involves.
 ||I haven't seen him in a very long time, last I knew he was a very energetic Tale. ||Khia's another of my oldest friends. He didn't mind getting scruffy or licking and we played a lot when we were little. I haven't seen him in a while. I miss him.
 ||She terrified Aido when they first met with her screeching. They got along well afterwards but I haven't seen her in a very long time. ||I haven't seen Liv'ya in forever, I wonder where she went...
 ||Nalira's been through so much. I hope things begin to look up for her soon... though I haven't seen sight or sound of her lately. Maybe Aido has. ||Nalira's another of my best friends. We've argued and sometimes everything seems to go wrong when we're together but things always work out eventually. I wouldn't trade her for the world but I just wish I could protect her....
 ||Captain Tybalt, I really don't know much about the Tale and have only met him a few times. Seemed very, er, brass, but what should one expect from a Captain? ||Captain Tybo's interesting but nice, and he likes exploring. I haven't seen him in a while.
 ||Haven't seen Angelus in a very long time. Like Nalira he's been through quite a bit and Aido seems very attached to him. I hope he and Silent are alright. || Angelus is my best friend, he was Lost at one point but we found him again. He's very nice and has gone exploring with me but he's been gone for a while as well...

  ~A gift from Angelus, Aido's first gift from another Tale. It's a pendant Aido's Astrological Symbol of Aquarius. It still lives on her wall with the feather he gave her a very long time ago.
 ~The Plushie Chao recieved during Halloween Trick or Treating 2004. Given to Aido who's still a bit clingy to it, it lives in her room with her other plushes.
  ~Two Valentines day plushies, given out by Merganue for all. Chao plucked these two up and they have been quickly handed over to Aido as Loth is now too big to be a suitable (living) plushie.

 ~A gift from Syrie and Khia. The bracelet was handmade by Khia and Aido loves it. She's taken to carrying it around on her wrist. As it's made of real silver neither she nor Chao worry about it being broken on one of Aido's explorations. Chao made a new clasp that dangles about the open side, when Aido get's older it will be able to expand, it helps to keep the bracelet safely on her wrist.

            ~Somehow or other, a massive amount of these tiny plushes were purchased at one point or another. These all belong to Aido and litter her room and are often put to use for a variety of things, not least of all waging mock wars against her brother's own army of plush.[I'm leaving ground stepping into a new world.]

Simple Truth
::Little Aiai, fresh out of the Tome and ready to... well, wander away from me as soon as she possibly could. I thought she'd grow out of it but, ah, my expectations seem to have been dashed.

Embellished Tale
::In true Aido fashion my daughter decides to grow like a weed while the lights go crazy. Her desire to run around, explore and generally dissapear out of sight didn't diminsh. If anything it got worse at this point.
Ah, well, the apple doesn't fall far from the tree and all that, though I do wish she'd call or at least leave a note....
:I got taller but the world only got bigger! There were so many new things to explore and see and I could get there on my own two feet! Though, I can't help but wish a little that things could've stayed simple. Adventure sounded so fun and exciting, but mine never seemed to be anything but scary endevors which involved a lot of running and not knowing where I was. Oh well, that's just life, no use complaining about it.

January 24th: Aido arrives and meets Linneas and Nalira in the stationary shop. After heading to Chao's home she meets Uncle Rico(aka Riki) as well.
January 25th: Ai has her first meeting with Olivia.
Febuary 14th: Aido meets and plays with Khia, it is the smoothest meeting with another Tale yet. Experimentation with shadows begins.
March 6th: Nalira is lost, first locate and rescue mission for Ai.
March 7th: Meeting Ying and playing War.
March 24th: Pies! A dream remembered. And...Rael?
March 28th: Rael reveales himself to Angelus, Aido meets Darkness.
April 8th: Exploration, new meetings and a rescue mission.
April 10th-14th: Visting Grandparents.
April 16th: Er... the first battle of the socks.
April 19th/20th: The finding of the Cross Roads tree and showing it to Linny and Vidya.
April 24th: Growth! Aido is now an Embellished Tale.
May 15th: Possessed headphones?

3. Don't PM me asking if Aido is for sale or anything of that sort. It's simply stupid and only bad things [like an angry Author and possible angry shopkeeper, as this is in the main rules] will come from it.
