For number 1, blame the catholic church. They held enough power for it to become standardised like that, and there is no will to replace it with another system.
For the second, the importance of the phrtase on the coins is symbolic. It doesn't really matter at all. Not on a practical level.

It would probably be more annoying if I actually lived there, but right I think you need to pick your battles.

I agree with your first statement.
The second one, not so much. You see, it is "IN GOD WE TRUST" not "In God We Trust". This was well thought out by the currency guys. This was a small technicality allowing all people to worship their own god instead of believing in one, though many would argue the point. *needs a new keyboard* Their god is spelled with a Capital "G" while everyone elses god is not. *my keys are making me sad!! no apostrophes or arrows~!* emo

Agreed. And not everyone is monotheistic. So "In God We Trust" might not be accurate.

Well they're all interesting concepts on why they put the said words on your currency. But from what I've heard from your president he doesn't believe the same thing.
AD and BC have more than one meaning, of which the others have momentarily slipped my mind. But I don't really have a feeling towards them it's convenient and would be too difficult to change them.

(ps sorry about my spelling i know it sucks!) i agree with you, i'm aethist and thanks to our country's roots in chrisitanity, all or money and many of our buildings have religious refrences. I understand why, but i think the seperation of church and state should be more strongly enforced.

I don't like American currency because of it's innacuracy. 'IN GOD WE TRUST'? Who the hell is 'we'?
But I'm pedantic, so acknowledging this, I don't get too up in arms about it.

Ok i do agree with you about the AC BC thing but dose having the words "In God We Trust" printed on our money really affect you that much? I didn't think so, so stop your bitching, crack open a beer, sit back, relax, and enjoy some TV.

It's not used often, but there is an alternative to AD - BC
Basicially CE and BCE
Common Era, and Before Common Era.
