Guild Recruitment Thread Design and Suggest-a-Member.
Hello there ladies, gents, and androgyni, I have decided to put the ideas we've all had about guild recruitment to work. We need to spice up the roleplay, we need lots of new members and characters, we need diversity and fun!

Thus I am creating this thread for planning and designing the recruitment thread before we create it. I will also be using this thread as a place to collect names - feel free to suggest a member in here, they will be added to a list in one of the posts and each week we will invite them all. If you are going to suggest a member, please give a reason so that they know why they've been invited.

So let us begin!

Here's the plan of what we are in need of:
  1. First, we need some of the guildmembers to become dedicated to chatting in the thread.
  2. Second, we need an array of ideas and contests to hold within the thread.
  3. Third, we need a colour-scheme, and graphics.
  4. Fourth, we need to design the thread here, including all the layout, content, etc.

Spoon feed - what to do/discuss:
  • Discuss the mission plan!
  • Give ideas for contests etc.
  • Offer yourself up for jobs if possible.
  • Suggest new members.

Current Jobs and the Members Willing to do Them.
To get your name anywhere on this list you must first be absolutely sure you have the time and enthusiasm to perform - it'll only make you look silly if you offer to do everything and then decide you don't have time when we actually create the thread.

To get on a list, just post that you would like your name put down for a job. If you're a dab hand at all of them, feel free to put your name down for all, but specify the ones you are best at or would like to do most, so that all the jobs get allocated evenly.

These members are all uber cool and loved! heart

Chatters:
Tsu Sengai.
Members to chat (not spam!) in the recruitment thread on a frequent basis. We want intelligent, open discussion and friendly chatter - please no bumping, spamming, etc, as it is against the Registered Guilds forum rules.

Thread Designers:
Tsu Sengai.
Members to help design the colour scheme and layout of the recruitment thread. This includes the style of headers, the colour scheme and exact colours, the order of posts and what will go in them (though not the content itself) and where, if any, the graphics will go.

Graphics Gurus:

Members with artsy skills willing to design header graphics or advertising banners, also including members willing to offer their artistic skills for rewards for contest winners, eg: A waist-up avi picture.

Content Writers:
Tsu Sengai.
Members willing to help design the various messages we need to put across. You'll be writing the blurb about the guild and all that stuff - this job is not whose is best, we would like it if you are able to take the best of all your efforts and mix it into one super-blurb.

Proof Readers:
Tsu Sengai.
Members willing to take a few moments to make their literacy of use and check over posts for errors, confusing sentences, and so on. A fresh eye is a best eye, and even I miss things occasionally!

Contest Designers:
Tsu Sengai.
Members with excellent ideas for contests, willing to write out their rules and guidelines, able to explain the stuff concisely. We want to make our recruitment thread different and special, fun to be in, and so on.

Funders:
Tsu Sengai.
Members willing to go out of their way by donating a little of their hard-earned gold to the guild mule for use as rewards in contests. Anyone pn this list should be worshipped for being so charitable and dedicated!

Great Ideas and Uber Contests.
We all love a good contest, and what better way to encourage the flow of new blood than rewarding winners with a prize and an invite to our guild? Keeping the guild picky on its members can go two ways, you see - either it keeps our new member influx low, or we can use it to our advantage by making the guild highly literate and special. It's an amazing reward to win an invite to such a guild, don't you think?

We also need any and all random ideas you might have that will aid the guild in getting those lovely literate roleplayers flooding through the gates, so! Even if it seems a little irrelevant or silly, suggest it! Another member might be able to re-shape your silly, random idea into something amazing!

Contests of Gaia Stuff:

i.e: Avatar competitions, first-to-post a chicken hat in their inventory on page so-and-so, etc.

Contests of Graphical Stuff:

i.e: Name-that-item, avatar art competitions, colour the lineart, etc.

Contests of Literary Stuff:

i.e: Short story competitions, anectdote competition, name-that-quote, etc.

Awesomely Uber Ideas:

The ones we liked the most get listed here.

Random Ideas:

The ones that could use a little work or inspiration, possibly needing re-shaping, get listed here.

Colour Scheme and Graphics.
What use is a thread if we left it all in default font style? We want it pretty, we want it to catch your eye and help you flow along the content, with good definitions between headers, sub-headers and text!

We want a colour scheme that either looks good, or represents the guild (preferably the latter) and is readable - none of those #eeeeee coloured fonts - it must be easily readable, as I know personally that most literate roleplayers I know (including myself) are quite short-sighted.

We may need graphics, and prettiful pictures. These might be graphical headers, special little icons, advertising banners for people to put in their signatures, or more! We need artists willing to do some quick sketches as rewards for the competitions, and possibly lineartists and colourists to transform the sketches if the original artist isn't too hot with computer graphics.

These members are also forever loved, especially any artists willing to use art they could likely sell for a decent amount of gold as prizes! heart

Colour Schemes:

Listing of good colour schemes to represent the guild - the one we like most (and we means the mass majority vote) will henceforth also be used in all official announcements and such!

Wonderous Art:

Simply amazing people willing to do art or design headers and stuff for the guild - this is a list of examples and ideas.

Thread Layout and Content.
What's a thread without content? A picture gallery? We obviously need some strong statements of why the guild is worth your time, people who are good at explaining rules to help with that. We need a good solid wordbase, and I personally would love to see a group effort on this, so you members know that not only do I and the other Crew appreciate you, but we want you to take as active a role as possible in the guild.

We also need the layout to be designed! You know, what post will hold what information, the way everything is organised and laid out. This is really important to having a legible and super thread, don't you think? We want originality and secksiness! We want to really stand out amongst all the other guild recruitment threads!

Layout Ideas:

ie: What post holds what, what should the borders be like, should there be a contents page, etc.

Content Ideas:

ie: What sort of things do you feel absolutely must be mentioned in so-and-so section, important messages you think should be gotten across, etc.

Literate Content Portions:

ie: Properly written out paragraphs or whatever of text for eventual use in the thread, etc.

Suggested Members and The Reasons.
Everyone should know someone who's a decent roleplayer, or not-quite-literate but tries their hardest. Do you want to see lots of nice active, literate roleplaying in the guild? Do you want a safe haven from going to the trouble of making a well-thought out roleplay thread and having idiots descend on it with posts like '**~~he wuz a 1/2-demn 1/2-vampyre 1/2-angel wiv the power to be invicble & he wuz 5" tall & he walked in & sed 'hello im here to kill you all' & then he did~~** haha ur all ded bcuz i am the master!!!!!!1!!!1 r there ne fit girlz in ere????!!!!112'

...Great, I feel so dirty for writing that. Blech.. Anyhow, you want to be safe from that kind of thing, don't you?

Well, we do too! That's why I'm here, and one of the reasons Syutaka made this guild. So do you know how to get this guild active and keep it sane? INVITE YOUR LITERATE FRIENDS! Sorry.. Got carried away there. But seriously, invite anyone you feel is a cool person and a good roleplayer. Remember - though we want literacy, we are happy to accept illiterates who are willing to try their hardest, learn from any constructive criticism we give them, and generally be cool people!

Suggested Members and Reasons:

Shazzer, Yo_Landa, LightOfTheDark, Kozo, The Story of the Century, Lykus, Soloist, Necathys :: These are all members of my own literate guild, the LRPA. You can trust them to be literate. (ValenarrDeMirro)

Try to give a good reason - most people don't like blank invite letters, and if we can mention that so-and-so member invited them because they said blah-blah about them, it makes it really special.

LightOfTheDark
Kozo
The Story of the Century
Lykus
Soloist
Necathys

Note: These are all members of my own literate guild, the LRPA (which some people should also join). You can trust them to be literate (or semi-literate, in some cases). If you must know the semi-lits, then PM me.

Thanks Valenarr.

So long as members follow the guild rules and ethics, it doesn't matter if a member is not fully literate - they will be learning all the while.

More possible members.

Hanakami
D.Monica
Avatar of Retribution
Wendy_Chan

They're good roleplayers from other guilds I'm in, especially Hanakami and D.Mo, they're awesome. Avatar and Wendy are pretty good too. You can trust 'em to be literate, of course. I'm a tough judge. xd

And they'll probably have some friends that'll wanna tag along too.

Did I mention, I'll be filling in positions that aren't filled? I'm particularly good with language, as ye might have guessed.

However, I can't do it all on my own. After all - a guild is nothing without its members. And so, I need someone to help out with at least a little of this.

Members that I would suggest. They are extremely literate.

Akyarei
Jekal

But it's been awhile since I have talked with them though. But I know I need Akyarei for the story-line. But I'll proabally contact them sooner or later.

However, i will be looking for a Character that is extremely knowledgable in literacy and of course in the ways of darkness. I need someone that is good enough to become " Ithir." Heh..Yeah.
