The main creators behind Super Smash Brothers Brawl have stated that Sonic the Hedgehog has been the most frequently requested character to be added to Brawl, and not only this, but Nintendo is currently discussing with Konami to add another character, and Sega to add some characters. Now, unless for some reason Sega decides they don't want Sonic to be in the most anticipated game to date, or for some reason Nintendo is more interested in having a Sega character like Ecco the Dolphin, I believe this pretty much seals the deal....

Wow, I'll definitely been keeping an open ear about this info! XP
Course, now I'm a bit curious as to what other character Konami might have added. At the moment, I'm running blank on who their other big characters are (all I'm gettin' is DDR stuff....although, a DDR-based stage would be rather awesome...).

I'm all for it, so long as Nintendo make it a limit of 3 outsider characters.
Smash Bros is really the Nintendo Nostalgia Museum, as much as I love Snake and Sonic, their appearance can not even hope to equal the feeling I got seeing Mr. Game & Watch appear.
If it were a choice between Sonic and Little Mac, Lil' Mac would win everytime.
There are so many Ninty franchises which haven't been tapped yet. Advance Wars, Punch Out!... you know?
BUT...
They could also win nostalgia points with NES releases, like the ancient Mega Man games and Castlevania. So, not to say third party characters should be excluded. If Ninty can get them, woohoo! BUT I only want ones which are part of the Nintendo experience. We old guys who lived to see the NES rise up and watched The Wizard for a single glimpse of SMB3 deserve our love.

Samwise Chubb I'm all for it, so long as Nintendo make it a limit of 3 outsider characters. Masahiro Sakurai has said that they only expect to add 1-2 more third party characters aside from Snake. So yeah, Ninty's being cautious about it. And from what I've seen the two most wanted characters seem to be Sonic and Mega Man. I'm not too confident about seeing Castlevania characters, though, since Konami already has a character in Brawl. I think Ninty would attempt to be equitable between any companies they deal with in this. I could be wrong, but hey. As long as Sega doesn't drop the ball on this one.

Sonic on the new Super Smash Bros.?! Cool.
As for Konami, I know they're gonna put Snake in there from Metal Gear. I wish they would put like "Megaman" or "Bass"... or a Castlevania character like "Simon Belmont" for example. Or maybe even... "Ralph" from Zelda Oracle of Ages.

*Whispers* Megaman is a Capcom character, not Konami.
Also, I think Wind Waker style Link is a distinct possibility, there's no Kid Link in Ocarina, and it seems Cell Shaded Link and Twilight Link are going to be running side by side on Wii and DS respectively.

Hey, if Sonic gets a look in I'm all for it. Perosnally, I think Sonic vs Mario in an actual OFFICIAL GAME has been waiting too long to happen. =D
