The Harbor

Harbour Theme Song

The new harbor now lies around 4km out from where the old harbor once was, solving the main island's former space problems. When coming to Kirigakure you must dock at the harbor, it is a classic ritual that everyone must face once. Sometimes it is pleasant and sometimes it is not, depends really on how much gold you are wearing. When passing the misty ocean you come to a harbor. A skilled sailor would know right away where they are. The harbor is basically a large docking area that comes from the beach to a large portion of water. With 10 docking areas at the tip of the harbor it seems mainly harmless. But as you dock your ship you are greeted with old men and young men who look more like pirates then sailors. As you walk off your ship you notice the burnt uneven wood that holds the docks together. When on the main platform over the ocean you can see stands selling exotic items from the sea. They block the path to the beach making it impossible to pass them. Thieves can be seen pickpocketing others who have come to see this sight. Bars and other places can be seen, mainly for night time when the real party starts here. Old men tend to tell their stories of the fabled sea, talking about monsters that can be found. If lucky there is usually a man who allows people to pass his stand and onto the beach and then into the forest. This forest is the forest around the Mizukage's Office.

User Image A fishing ship is now regularly docked at the harbour. It would not raise much concern and attention had the ship not been decked in blue and red - the colours of the feared pirate Old Tom. The pirate has even been sighted walking about the streets of Kirigakure and generally relaxing on his ship, and his young daughter Cassie, now much older, has also been reported to be in the village. In fact, she has taken on the job of academy teacher...

True to the nature of the ship, Old Tom goes on many "fishing" trips, and is definitely willing to bring along some helpers. He may even teach you some tools of the trade. [Boot Camp (Physical) training NPC. Fishing trips take around half a RP day to a RP day.]

Old Tom.

Daiki slowly walked onto the first dock, watching as the many people migrated through out the Docks. He looked back towards Haruko and said "Your mother was right too not let you go to the witch market..."

He slowly walked into the Crowed Area Searching for a ship Captin. Several time's he had almost had his valuebals pick pocketed by random theives passing by. He Cursed and Yelled at them as he continued on his way trying too find a Captain. Looking back he tried too find Haruko in the Rough Crowd.

Haruko blended into the crowd with an ease and grace that was downright beautiful to watch. He seemed to slip through the mass of people without being touched at all. A few times shady characters approached him. But with a single wink at them, their eyes would widen. They backed off without any further signs as if recognizing him. He finally reached Daiki and scanned the crowd silently. His eyes would pause on a few individuals of note but continue their slithering assessment of the area. "Yes...probably. But that didn't stop me from going other places I probably shouldn't have." His sparkling eyes -- when they came back to rest on his mission partner -- hinted that this wasn't the first time he'd been to the Harbor. "You're looking for something?"

Haruko Seemed too Slip through the gaint mass of people quickly and untouched. He then laughed and said "You stick out like a sour thumb..."

"Yea... Actually I am looking for something... We need a Boat too get over too the Island..." Daiki said as he planted his hands into his pockets. He leaned back a bit Searching through out the crowd. He looked over too his right Seeing an old ship with a few people dressed in Raggamuffin Daycor.

"Hey You guys giveing passage anywhere..." Daiki said out of curiosity.

"Get out of here Kid! Were on our Brake Damnit!" One of the men said angerly. A haze of Smoke flowing from the Boat as they smoked their cigarettes.

"Hmph.. Figures... Just a bunch of Idiots.." He said loudly as he looked over towards Haruko. A small drizzle of rain fell down upon thier heads as they searched. His eye's stayed vigilant, on couse of a capable boat towards their destination.

Kyo smiled indulgently. His eyes sharpened as Daiki spoke. The men's response didn't surprise him in the least. After all, he'd almost grown up down here. "Daiki...follow me." He turned and winked. "I think that I can find us a passage." He paused. "Well. If they're not already out, of course. Damn. We'd better hurry!" He began moving quickly through the crowd. Once again, he seemed to find openings in the crush to barely slip through before they closed again. He glanced back a few times to make sure that Daiki could see him and continued forwards.

His thoughts were hurried. They might have left already. I know that there are several customers that prefer morning runs. Dammit. If only Shoji was here. He can flit through this crowd much easier than I. He sighed then. Ah, well. Almost there now. It was with great relief that he managed to catch sight of a boat rocking slowly in the harbor. A man strode easily on the deck, checking the engine and securing several of the ropes. He appeared to be in his late twenties, early thirties. He smiled broadly upon seeing Haruko.

He nodded to Horuko then followed him through the rough crowded harbor. Getting frustrated a few time he began shoveing people aside as he went, even going as far as pushing them off into the water. Daiki itched his head as the small drizzle of rain fell down upon them, makeing it a bit more slippery than usual on the Harbor. He sighed as they came upon a boat with a man checking everything over, he apeared too be about thirty maybe even twenty five.

"Yo..." Daiki said slowly lifting his right hand for a greating too the man. He then planted both hands into his pockets and waited for Haruko too say something too the odd man. The man Kept Checking the Engine's on the ship and the gas spedomitor. Two people passed him as they stepped onto the ship. Daiki moved too the right as they passed onto the ship, seemingly too be Tourist or people with buisness too one of the Islands.

"Hey, were Ready too go Cap'n!" One of the Men said grinning as he set Two large Boxes onto the Ship. He took a seat on one of them, the other man doing the same with the box right next too it. They were bolth dressed in caussual clothes witch gave away right then that they were new around here.

"Hey... where are you two Going?" Daiki asked bowing his head in respect too the two Gentlemen.

"Why were heading over too the The Alexandrite Caves too do some researching! Why are you so interested?" The man said proudly and loudly.

"Oh... no reason..." Daiki said pondering off a bit.

"So... Whats in the boxes..." Daiki said cureously too the two men.

"Well... Erm... Reserch Equiptment..." The Man said nerously.

"Cool, can I see..." Daiki said Seemingly Interested a bit.

"Well... We don't want anything lost... Er.. so I don't think we should" The man said a bit nervously again.

'Hmmm... why are these two so secretive...' Daiki thought as he nodded in agreement with them.

[I don't want too get too the island so easily ^^]

Haruko waved excitedly, "Uncle Kyo!" He lightly jumped onto the boat, careful not to make it unstable. "I haven't seen you in a while!" The boy's face was split with a wide grin.

His uncle was also grinning. "Ah! Your aunt is going to be mad that she missed you! We haven't seen much of you since you've become a genin." His look was reproachful and Haruko flushed.

"Yeah...I've been busy. But I was wondering if you could take me to the Witch Market." He held up a hand to stall any protests. "I know, I know. Mom would kill you. But this time I've been ordered to go." His eyes warned against any questions.

Kyo paused for a moment and took stock of his young nephew. He seemed to come to some sort of decision. "I would take you, I think. But I've already been promised to another right now. If you wouldn't mind waiting a few hours...?"

Haruko shrugged and turned about. "Daiki, what do you --" He stopped as he looked around in irritation. Where was he? He spotted him, talking to two men. Haruko's eyes narrowed speculatively as he made his way over, waving goodbye to his uncle. Upon reaching Daiki, he leaned to speak softly in his ear. "It's not a good idea to ask the nature of a man's business on these docks. You'll have people wondering why you're interested. If that happens..." Haruko's voice trailed off ominously. Turning, he smiled brightly at the two men. "Hello, sorry for the trouble. We were just looking for passage on a ship. We by no means meant to disrupt your work." His manner was cheerful and nonchalant. He took great pains to exhibit no interest in their cargo.

Daiki listened too Haruko as he spoke in his ear, sighing he replyed "Yes I know... But I think these Fellows have something too hide, and we are investigateing a murder now arn't we...." Daiki planted his hands into his pockets and his head lowered a bit. He started walking off hopeing Haruko would follow, Climbing up a flight of stairs. When he reached the top he sat on a crate and waited for him.

Haruko shook his head, smiling ruefully. There were better -- less blunt -- ways of finding out exactly what was in that box. He followed Daiki up the stairs, also sitting on the crates. He glanced at his teammate. "What's up? You look like you have a plan or something." His smile was bright and unperturbed, as always. It only brightened upon seeing two young ladies pass. He nodded politely, winking saucily at them both. They giggled, slowing their pace for a moment before giggling again and hurrying off. Haruko smirked. Yeah. Still got it.

"I don't Know... I may... And maybe you should stop attracting the other sex... Last time I did that I woke up and my wallet was gone..." Daiki said kicking his feet back and forth. He sighed as he racked his brain for a solution too their problem, 'we could ask Tenchie... No, no... what about... No she wouldn't... But maybe...' Daiki thought too himself.

"Well... we could go too one of the Traveling merchants shops... Sneak into the back, and Hide in his Cargo... When he goes back too the Witch Market... We would have free passage..." Daiki said in Haruko's Ear. "It could be risky... and If were caught we could have too Fight the owner... But I bet if were really sneaky... we could pull it off Haruko.." Daiki said silently.

'Now... Too find a Merchant who has set up shop and has many customers...' Daiki thought too himself then hopped up from the Crate. He planted his hands into his pockets and started walking slowly, eyeing the Shops as they went by. "Tell me if you find something suitable..." Daiki said a bit loudly too Haruko.

The look on Haruko's face as Daiki warned him was priceless. He actually sputtered. "E-excuse me? I have never in my life had to worry that the opposite sex was interested in my wallet," he sniffed. Pausing for thought, he corrected himself, "Well, except for Sumire. That girl could break a saint! But she's my cousin, so she doesn't count." He spoke as they both strolled down the docks, searching for merchants. He nodded politely to several of the elder ladies, earning brilliant smiles in return. "I think that my cousin would best like a gift of fabric," he replied in that same loud voice. In a much quieter tone, he added, "It'll be easier to hide in. What say you?" He quickly scanned the docks, noting three sailors struggling up a plank with a large, crimson roll of fabric. "I do believe we could just about fit in the middle of that roll, Daiki." Haruko's eyes shone with excitement as he began casually moving closer. "Would you like to take the lead, or shall I?" he offered politely.

The sailors, meanwhile, had finally made it up onto the deck of the local merchant's ship. They dropped the roll with a loud thud and -- wiping the sweat from their eyes -- returned to the docks to repeat their efforts. In the few minutes that the two boys stood there, the sailors loaded a second roll -- this time a beautiful indigo. The rolls came up to Haruko's waist. And to the young genin's mind, this left plenty of room for them to squeeze in between the small culverts that the great swathes of fabric had been rolled onto. They were just long enough for a boy of about fifteen to fit with no trouble. Haruko cut his eyes at Daiki. He wouldn't rush to action without at least gauging the other's reaction. But his eyes sure looked hopeful. This was a golden opportunity.

((We'll have to sneak past everyone wherever we go. So I'm assuming that we'll have to roll something in order to succeed at this?))
PostPosted: Tue Oct 10, 2006 10:51 pm

((Don't mean to confuse you, but these two are different Itous from another village. xd They're in another section of the docks altogether and can't be seen from where Daiki and Haruko are located.))

Haru and Yori stepped off the boat rather gratefully. "Ugh!" Yori held her stomach. "I swear, I don't know how Uncle Kyo does this...I hate the ocean!" Her face was slightly green as the two Itous disembarked onto the docks of Kirigakure.

Haru looked around suspiciously before pulling Yori close to him. He made her walk just in front of him, careful to keep both hands on her shoulders as they made their way through the dense crowd. His eyes were constantly moving and assessing the danger of this or that stranger. "Be careful, Yori. This is not the place to get seperated."

Yori scowled. "Haruko says he comes down here all the time! It can't be that bad!"

Haru shook his head. "That doesn't surprise me one bit. And Haruko has grown up around these people. He knows them, and they know him. You, however, are a prime target." He gave her a gentle push. "Now march!" he ordered teasingly. "If I remember correctly, the path to the village should be just up ahead to our left." The two Itous eventually squeezed through the crowd until they found the path leading up to the village.

Taking the silence as an invitation, Haruko glanced at the sailors. They were struggling with an oversized bolt of cobalt blue fabric. They hadn't yet gotten their hands on it, but they would soon. The two boys were going to have to move fast. Taking the initiative, he burst from his place beside Daiki. It was only a short sprint to the side of the boat. He hid from view on the other side of the loading ramp. He wondered how he was to get into the boat without drawing attention to himself. He was looking around for a solution when it hit him. Glancing up, he saw the railing only a few feet above his head. He suddenly regretted not practicing his acrobatics more. It would probably come in handy for what he had in mind. He sighed. Only one way to find out of this would work.

Giving a little jump, he grasped the railing firmly in both hands. Haruko hung there for a moment, wondering how the hell he was supposed to get up there now. His back was pressed against the ship's side with his feet dangling in the air. He planted his feet firmly against the side of the ship. His muscles bunched as he prepared to somersault over railing and on to the ship. His backflips hadn't always been that great, but all he had to do was avoid falling and hitting his head. Once he was on the ship, then he could worry about getting past the sailors and into the great rolls of fabric.

Before he could even get his momentum going, his wrists caved in under the pressure. He dropped like a rock and ended up landing flat on his butt. He let out a small cry of pain. Damn! That hurt! He immediately regretted it. The sailors were not looking his way. Dammit...He pressed his body as tightly against the ship as possible. He tried not to move or speak or fricking breath as they sailors' sharp eyes searched this way and that in the crowded docks.

He must have successfully evaded their gaze because they shrugged and went back to arguing about the best way to lift the fabric. This one was slightly larger than the others and posed a bigger problem than two men could handle. He breathed a small sigh of relief. Going back to his original plan, he grasped the railings. He tried to get his feet set as far up as possible to give himself as much lift as possible. He didn't want a repeat of his first attempt. He scowled. When he got home, he was definitely going to practice his acrobatics. No matter what his siblings had to say about it. He pushed with his feet and tried again.
