At least Laial liked the mall. Or rather, the freedom it offered. Of course, the money in his pocket that he 'borrowed' didn't hurt... He wandered around with the mass of people at a slower pace, looking like he was just window-shopping. And, of course, completely innocent.
Like he totally did NOT just take some of Maji's paper money from her bedroom. Where would someone get such a ridiculous idea?
Of course, Heiko couldn't go to the mall...she might get stepped on by the crowds or something. Which would be bad. Very bad. Even though Heiko was mild-tempered, it was NEVER a good idea to step on a dragon.
So, this brings us back to Laial, wandering aimlessly around the mall, hoping that something would pop up, perhaps in one of those windows of the millions of stores...

Andrew couldn't believe it. It was the first time he had to leave the house on his mother's orders. 'Leaving' meaning fleeing from Haru and 'orders' meaning her screams that could rival that of a banshee's. How was he supposed to know Najwa was herbivorous!
A whip like tail slap on his a** woke him from his thoughts, yelping and wincing at the sting. "Najwa, what is it now?"
Najwa grabbed some locks of green hair, being piggyback by her 'older brother', trying to see everything at the same time. "Mami!", she pointed excitedly to a flower, giggling quite happily.
"No Najwa, that's not Mami. It's just a flower.", Andrew said, plucking the flower out. A plastic flower to be precise. "See? It doesn't scream like Mami does."
Grabbing the flower from his hands, she stared at it curiously. "Andy right.", she said dissapointed, pouting. Her Mami smelled good, unlike the flower.

Well, now here was something. Something far more interesting than posters with ugly women on them. Passing 'Victoria's Secret' (what was the big secret anyway?), he walked up to the adult and waved at both of them. "Do you both like flowers?"

"Well, you could say that...?", Andrew finished confused. He was startled at the stranger's appearance. Grey skin, weird eyes, orange hair, extra limbs (which reminded him oddly about tentacle monsters that her mother knew) and that huge ...thing? He didn't know how to describe it, but damn, it looked to heavy to be able to carry it with such skinny girly legs!
"Are you- OW!!!", before he could finish his question Najwa yanked his green hair hard. Wincing, he started removing her abusive hands from his hair, cursing under his breath.
"Flor yucky!", Najwa exclaimed annoyed. She didn't like being tricked, and less by her brother. She had been chewing the plastic flower while Andrew was examining the stranger.
"That's it young lady!! Off with you!", saying this, he grabbed Najwa, a difficult feat due their positions, and lowered her to the floor. "No more piggyback rides for you."

Laial shrugged off the stare. He got it often, for some reason. The girl was more interesting. He giggled. "Of course it's yucky, it's a fake flower. Fake flowers are bad." At least Nexen had said so. He hadn't tried any recently.
"You eat real flowers?"

"Fake?" Najwa asked, confused. How could it be? The flower had petals (some of them with teeth marking) and leaves and it was on a pretty vase, just like her Mami's flowers. But he said it was bad so that must mean bad flowers are fake! She nodded. "Bad flor, not tasty."
"Si, but Mami no like it." Najwa said, remembering how Haru had screamed when she starting eating her flowers.
She observed him carefully. If she stared at him sideways, he would resemble one of her Mami's plants with a very huge vase.
"Pretty vase!" she exclaimed happily, giggling and poking his shell.
Andrew worried for the stranger's safety. Najwa could give a nasty bite even though she was a toddler. "No chomp chomp for Najwa." He said sternly. "What's your name... sir?" Andrew didn't know how to adress him, kids hated to be called kids.

Laial giggled. "My mami screamed when I ate her goldfish. Wonder why they did?" He couldn't see anything wrong with eating the goldfish, other than the fact it wasn't that tasty.
"Vase...?" That was a new one. He never been called a vase before. More common was a squid. "S' not a vase, it's a shell."
Sir? Yet another new thing. "Laial." He turned his attention back to the girl. What was on her back? He ran a tentecle over one of the pointy things. "Your spine's sticking out."

"My mami asked me why I can't be like gusilla cause gusilla eats fish and I no like fish." Najwa said, taking a breath after her long non-pause answer. She didn't know what a gusilla was, but her Mami was too panicky too answer. "Fish look and smell yucky."
"No, that vase! Mami uses vases to put flores y plantas in them. Like you!" She pointed to his tentacles, thinking they were old plants, being grey and all.
She pointed herself. "I be Najwa. This Andy, big hermano mío." She said, grabbing Andrew's pants to make her point. Najwa watched amazed at Laial's moving tentacle. "You have vines, just like Mami. You a plant too!" She giggled, quite excited. She just hoped that he didn't scream like a banshee like her Mami.
"Is it?" She asked surprised, trying to reach her back. Gasping, she turned to Andrew. "Andy!! My pine's sticking out!!"
'Great, anatomy questions.' He thought bitterly. He was a pirate, not a friggin veterinarian. Or zoo guy. "Ehh, it's always been like that. And it's spine, not pine." He rubbed his temple, he had no idea what he was talking about.

Laial blinked. "I'm not plant! Or a flower. An' tha's not a vase, it's a shell."
He looked at his other tentecles, which were curled up on the floor. "I guess they're sorta like vines...but they're called tentecles. They're like vine-hands!"
The tentecle on Najwa's back moved to the other spines, wrapping around them for a second before moving onto the next.

Najwa frowned. "Is shell like vase?" She asked, confused. She was pretty sure that it was a vase.
"Tentacles? Like my Tío LeeLoo!" She giggled, taking a few tentacles in her arms. Her 'uncle' was a tentacle plant her Mami had adopted as family, but she was the only one who could understand what it said. "Tentacles tasty like plantas?"
Najwa giggled, swishing her tail a bit. "Laial play cuica with tentacles?" She had tried using her tail like a jumping rope, but her tail didn't cooperate with her.

Laial paused. "I guess..." Well, a vase protected the flower, and his shell protected him, so he guessed they were similar. In a way.
"Tío LeeLoo? Cuica? What's that mean?" He only spoke English and a little German, but she looked like she was trying to play jump rope.
About then he was aware of all the eyes on them. Almost everyone had stopped and now formed a large semi-circle around Laial, Najwa, and her adult. Laial wondered if Najwa would mind; seeing as he wouldn't.

Letting go of Laial's tentacles Najwa nodded triumph-ly. "Tío LeeLoo is a tentacle planta. Mami put Tío in vase like Laial, but Tío is small and green and pink." She said excitedly, doing hand gestures to everything said, body movement included.
"And cuica is a soga. And you jump over it, like this!" She hunched a little, moved her hands in a circular forward manner like she had a rope, and jumped. After her demonstration, she giggled. "It fun."
Najwa hasn't noticed that somehow, the place got smaller. Then she looked around.. and panicked. Tall and strange people, everything was bigger from her point of view. Holding her tail she stood still. After 5 seconds she ran in a waddling way towards Andrew, attaching herself to his leg.
Andrew had been in deep thought (he was definitely NOT sulking) through the whole ordeal. Najwa wasn't afraid to talk and interact with other while she was with him, but with Haru... that was a completely different story.
He was interrupted from his sulking deep thoughts from an attached, wide eyed, nail digging Najwa. "Ahh...? Najwa, your nails are starting to hurt..."

"Oh, okay..." It still confused him, but he thought that a soga/cuica was still a jump rope. "Yeah, it's fun." He was normally the person that held the rope, or sometimes they used a tentacle, but other kids seemed to like it.
Laial eyed the two curiosly. So she didn't like crowds. Now, how could he make the crowds go away... He looked up at Andrew for probably the first time. "I can make 'em go away, if you want..." He liked talking to kids better.

Andrew would have been surprised when Laial spoke to him (EYE to EYE) if they were in a different situation. "I think I have the situation un- s**t!" He exclaimed putting his hands above his left knee, looking down at Najwa, who's grip reached the Grip of Death and Pain level.
Screw his Pride, he'll let the 'whatever he was' handle the situation. "Y-yes, that would be fantastic." Andrew smiled shakily at Laial, wincing. "But please hurry..." He left the 'before she rips my leg off' part out.

Laial smiled a bit at the breaking down. "You sure you want me to help? I mean, you seem to have the situation under control..."
Oh, he spent too much time with Cerlyn-Ama. He was becoming an excellent canidate for interigation and/or torture when he grew up.
