Rumors have been circulating around many DW boards about Sci-Fi picking up Series/Season 2 in September (29). Here's the latest article from OG. Please note that there is nothing official from Sci-Fi at this time.

And if you scroll down the article, there are also mentions of "Runaway Bride" and "Torchwood" ... SPOILER WARNING.

Sounds good! If they start broadcasting again in September, we should be all caught up by the time series 3 starts in the UK.

I'm a bit worried about what they'll do with The Christmas Invasion. I really hope they don't chop off a good 15 minutes to squeeze it into the standard 1-hour (w/ commercials) time slot.

Yep... that would be criminal! I almost hope Sci-Fi would wait for the October start and do right by the series... showing CI uncut as a series premiere and then start the hour eps after that.

There is an update from Shaun Yon at OG posted onto the August 5 article. (Can also be seen now by clicking on web address in my first post)

Shaun also posted on the Sci-Fi DW site that, as far as his contacts have been able to discover, the two-hour debut will be "New Earth" and "Tooth and Claw." He also warned that Sci-Fi was notorious for "last minute scheduling." Just thought curious minds would like to know all this... smile

From OG: "Update 6 August: Outpost Gallifrey has heard from our contacts that this is indeed Series Two and that it debuts with the two-hour block on 29 September because the third season of "Battlestar Galactica" debuts the following week with a two-hour episode block. Doctor Who and Galactica will air at 9pm and 10pm, respectively, with another series airing at 8pm throughout October and November, with a short break for the Christmas holidays. Our source also believes that "The Christmas Invasion" is being held back in this first block, and will instead be aired as a special in December. More details soon."

I hope that rumor starts not being a rumor and is the actually date of when they'll start playing Series 2.

Still nothing official yet from Sci-Fi as to start date of Series 2 despite this tid-bit from the BBC...

However, OG did have an updated article on Series 3. Enjoy! (Warning: Spoilers! Read at your own risk)

I locked the other thread, but Rhiannon2006 has a nifty poem there so you might want to check it out. Plus she's got a link to the official Sci-Fi channel announcement in that thread.

http://www.gaiaonline.com/guilds/viewtopic.php?t=4909539

The worrying thing... it starts on Sept 29 with The Christmas Invasion slotted for TWO hours. Considering that the episode's running time (without commercials) is only one hour, how are they going to pad it out to the proper length? Surely they're not going to make us suffer through an hour's worth of ads...

I wonder if they'd be kind enough to start things off with the Children in Need clip.

Thanks for consolidating the threads, Harry!

Yep, I'm very happy all the speculation is finally over. Sci-Fi has been dragging its feet with this official announcement. It is also in the process of changing its webpage... transitioning between CE to DT.

Right now, the word on CiN is that it most likely not be part of the premiere... shame, it was a nice filler piece between TPotW and TCI. Total run time for TCI is about 55 mins. CiN was only about 7 mins. Even if it was included, it still means to expect a lot of commercials. But, at this point and time, I'm not looking a gift horse in the mouth.

So, anyone who doesn't already know... Series 2 premiere on Sci-Fi is Friday, September 29, at 9 p.m. eastern/ 8 p.m. central. Yippee!

(But keep your fingers crossed for the outside possibility for Sci-Fi may obtain the rights to tag on "Children in Need" prequel to the premiere of "The Christmas Invasion.") Will continue to update as info comes available. biggrin

I... am so happy. So very very happy right now. Watching it on a three by three inch screen off of youtube or an online radio... Just, eh. But watching it on TV? HUZZAH!

Maybe they'll broadcast the Confidential afterwards?

The general opinion is that the Confidential will not follow the CiN premiere. But that and any other fillers won't be necessary with the current scheduling of CiN (runtime 59:29 mins) on Sci-Fi.

Originally it was reported that a two-hour time slot was planned but now CiN will run in a 1-1/2 time slot. (Thank goodness! Otherwise the commercials in the original time slot would have killed us and DW!)

Reference: www.scifi.com/schedulebot/index.php3?date=29-SEP-2006&feed_req=

Sci-Fi is running a Series 1 mini-marathon on September 29 starting at 8 a.m. with "Dalek" and running until the 3 p.m. airing of TPotW.

The CiN premiere is slated for later that evening from 8 to 9:30 p.m. There looks like a rebroadcast of it from 10:30 p.m. to 12 midnight. (All times are Eastern.)

So stock up on the popcorn and sodas. Keep the remote handy and ready the VCR/DVD recorders, folks. Who is coming soon!
