On Japanese web sites I always hear that Japanese people are polite to each other. Well I was wondering, do people in Japan say shut up and darn all the time like we do? If so how do you say some slang words in Japanese?

I hear it all the time in anime. Although I wish I could see some other Japanese films. What I learned from Yuu Yuu Hakusho, chikusho is one way to say damn it all and kuso is a way to say damn. Aiko san had a way to say shut up in one of her threads I think.

[Urusai, kono yaro! Nani-sama no tsumori da?] *Shaddap, you little punk! Who'd'ya think you are?* (the typical speak of a less refined Japanese person.) One of my favorite sources for Japanese slang is The Japanese Slang Jiko, which has everything from Abayo to Zurui.

Oh arigato! that helps. in anime characters say bad words alot but what about real life?

じゃん＝Short form of じゃない but only in sense of making retorical quesiton:
example "we are going to die arent we?" in polite and ormal(though if you are going to die using polite language would be being very foreigner)
（Sort of polite）
へー、死ぬじゃないか？
（Normal）
いや、死ぬじゃん
this is usually if you are sure or almost sure.
it can also be put on ～い ending adjective:
優しいじゃん
isnt he nice?

you may think this is old nd only for male, but girls use it (with friends only), most like if the are tough or angry (i have use it)
i say many "bad" words, everyone in japan does, they are not that bad.
しまった

畜生
from most weak to most strong. they all mean around "damn" these you can use all the time (except last because it can be more strong)
of course you know:
馬鹿
こいつ
あいつ
そいつ
どいつ
