Welcome to the Poke'mon Hidden Legends Guild! Here you will begin an adventure that will span many regions, and along the way you will encounter many creatures known as Poke'mon. Throughout your adventure, as a trainer you will battle many other trainers, all the while achieving your personal goals.
I. Guild Rules
1) You MUST follow the ToS. All rules in Gaia are enforced here. We don't want any trouble from the mods.
2) Don't spam the forums. There are places for advertisements, bumpinb, and everything else. There is no need to interrupt while someones trying to roleplay. We will warn you first and delete your post, but if you continue to spam, we will ban you.
3) Remain active. This is a RPG. It messes things up if nobody is posting. If you're in the middle of an rp with someone, its courtesy to advise them if you're going to be absent from the roleplay for a long period of time.
4) Try to be literate. A few mistakes is ok, but 20+ spelling errors in one sentence is just stupid. To prevent errors, reread your posts before hitting 'submit'.
5) Please be respectful to your fellow guildmates. Do not put them down at all, and please remember that there are people behind these characters, with real emotions and would like to be treated well.
II. The Hidden Legends Role-Playing System
Here in the Hidden Legends Guild, our goal is to allow the players a lot of control without the moderators having to do everything. Also, we aim to get as close to the video games as possible.
A. Starters
We have 13 Starter Poke'mon here in the guild that span across all four of the regions. You may only choose one of these, however. To start the rp, have your character enter one of the labs, and request a starter from one of the Professors.
A moderator will then respond to your request for your starter, rolling a dice for generating the gender of your Pokemon, and you're all set to start!

B. Leveling
Like the games, your Poke'mon will level up sooner or later. And to do that there are a couple ways.
The first is to post role-playing actions in the various towns, forests, and caves we have within the four regions. You may role-play as you see fit, however, please keep your Poke'mon in your posts at all times. This not only makes it easier for you to add exp for each post (explained below), it also makes it easier for mods to know what challenge level you're at if we make a random encounter, or npc battle occur.
Each rp post you make in the forums gains +1 exp for each Pokemon that is in your active party. But, please note that you do not gain exp from posting when you are fighting another trainer, leader, or wild Poke'mon. Any exp gained from battles are added at the end of the battle.
But, please note, simply posting your party with a "Bump" isn't allowed in order to gain exp. They must be a roleplay post. Even if it as something as simple as your character going to a vending machine to grab a soda.
When you catch a Pokemon, no matter the level, it needs 15 posts to grow to the next level. Each time a Pokemon gains a level, the number of posts needed to grow another level increases by one.
For example, a Lv. 5 Bulbasaur would need 15 posts to get to Lv. 6, 16 posts to get to Lv. 7, 17 posts to get to Lv. 8, etc.
However! This caps off at 50 posts. Once you reach 50 posts needed to grow a level, you don't need to increase that number any longer. This is to prevent people from needing hundreds of posts to grow a single level.
The second way to level up your Poke'mon is to use them in battle. We do have a simple turn based system where the higher leveled Poke'mon gets the first action in battle. If you have any questions regarding battling, see the forums for examples, or PM a mod for more info.
Moving from town to town
In order to move from any city to another, you have to post at least 3 times, signaling that you are going from any city to another. However, this does not include plot based "poofs", the HM Fly, or trains. These are instantaneous movement. Just know that the more you post, the more your poke'mon will level up.
You must move to the adjacent town or area when traveling. Meaning from Pallet Town, you have the choice of either Surfing to Cinnabar, or walking to Viridian. You can't post three times and move to Fuchsia in other words.
Note: Mods have the ability for their characters to instantly travel to another area or region. This is in order to assist the roleplay, and, in all reality, is rarely used. This ability is only available to mods, however. The only exception to this is during special plot events. At that time, usually a special item will be released for the duration of the plot that will allow special travel.
Wild Poke'mon
Currently our system for Wild Poke'mon here in the Hidden Legends guild is based off of a dice rolling system, where regular members do not need a moderator's help in battling and catching wild Poke'mon.
Please read these rules before using the new system:
~Each town/dungeon has a list of Pokemon available in that area
~You MUST post the required number of posts in the town before rolling to get a Pokemon appearance. In most areas it is 7 posts, but it is VERY important to again check the first post in the thread to see how many are needed. Post actual rp posts, no bumps or blank posts. These do not count towards the required posts.
~Sprite information can be found online in many places (http://www.pokemonelite2000.com/dpmfa.html is a good one).
~Attack information can be obtained through either the Pokemon Attack threads on the main page of the forums or through Serebii.net
~Hp guide for the wild Pokemon is listed below
~The dice system will be enforced. Please, no making Pokemon that don't appear in an area appear, and don't try to cheat the system. Mods will be watching over the forums, so please, be fair. I hope I don't need to say this other than a un-needed warning, but please, follow the rules.

Badges
Like the games, you must have badges to control certain leveled Poke'mon, otherwise they may not listen to you and just goof off.
The badges are as follows:
You must have 2 consecutive (in a row) badges to control Lv 30 or lower
You must have 4 consecutive to control 50 or lower
You must have 6 consecutive to control 70 or lower
You must have 8 consecutive badges to control Lv 100 or lower
Other than you're starter, if you have a Pokemon higher than the required level you must roll a single 6 sided dice. If you roll a 1, 3 or 5, your attack goes through. If it's any other number, your Pokemon disobeys you.
Here in the guild, just because you throw a Poke'ball doesn't mean you'll get to automatically capture a Poke'mon. One difference over the games we have here is that even if you do knock a Poke'mon out, you can still attempt to capture it. So we've come up with a simplistic way of capturing, that still depends on chance. To catch a wild poke'mon, one must throw a poke'ball. Well, to make this guild more like the games, we have a Capture Ratio that goes like this:
All dice rolled are 10-sided.
Poke'ball
Lv. 1-20
Full Hp-30%
1/2 Hp-60%
1/4 Hp-90%

Full Hp-30%
1/2 Hp-60%
1/4 Hp-80%
0 Hp counts as 1/4 Hp.
Round up to the nearest statistic, Full, 1/2, 1/4.
To determine whether or not you have caught the poke'mon that you are trying for, when you roll, be it with any ball, the lowest numbers are used. So if the percent is 60, then the numbers 1-6 allow you to catch it; 7-10 do not.
Genders
Please note you must have a gender for all poke'mon that can have a gender! There are a couple moves that are based on this factor (like Attract), plus it allows you to breed your Poke'mon.
Poke'mon Personalities
Personalities allow for a more enjoyable experience in the rp, giving life to the Poke'mon. To get your Pokemon's Personality, use the Gaia random number generator system. There are 25 different personalities.
To get a personality, the Random number generator needs to be set for 1-25 The personalities will be as follows:
Value/Personality
1/Adamant
2/Bashful
3/Bold
4/Brave
5/Calm
6/Careful
7/Docile
8/Gentle
9/Hardy
10/Hasty
11/Impish
12/Jolly
13/Lax
14/Lonely
15/Mild
16/Modest
17/Naive
18/Naughty
19/Quiet
20/Quirky
21/Rash
22/Relaxed
23/Sassy
24/Serious
25/Timid
DO the dice roll RIGHT AFTER you catch the Pokemon.
This is not necessarily required in the roleplay, however.
Trainers
You may battle other guildmates, however, note that these spars do not earn you any exp, unless you have permission from a moderator in advance.
On occasion, there will be random trainers of all types that are considered NPCs, and moderators can make them appear before anyone.
Poke'mon Leaders
In order to control your Poke'mon, you must earn Gym Leader's badges. These people specialize in one type of Poke'mon, and thus can be somewhat easy to overcome. However, do not underestimate them. They do know how to cover for their weaknesses, so be prepared for just about anything.
The Elite Four. The best of the best. Each of these people are strong trainers, though still generally specializing in one type of Poke'mon. However, like some of the gym leaders, they can cover for their weaknesses and thus can prove to be more of a challenge than one might expect. Bring a team of varied and strong Poke'mon to fight the Elite Four, as well as the 8 badges of a particular region.
After the Elite Four, we have the Champion. He/She is considered the strongest of all trainers in a region. This person has bested the Elite Four and overcome all obstacles. Can you make it to this spot?
Weakness and Resistance
Like the games, certain types are effective against one another and certain types resist and are even immune to one another. Some Poke'mon like Wingull and Gyrados are 4x weak to Electric attacks, while Dark type Poke'mon are completely immune to Ghost type attacks.
Evolving Poke'mon
There are many methods to Evolution in the Poke'mon world, and the key to completing your Poke'dex is by evolving as many species of Poke'mon.
1. Evolving through leveling
Most Poke'mon evolve after a certain level is achieved. However, some evolutions depend on the time of day and leveling, while holding some items. Please refer to serebii.net to know about these variable Poke'mon.
2.Stones
Some Poke'mon don't level up to evolve. They require a special type of stone. Some poke'mon even can form multiple evolutions this way, and once again, the time of day can affect an evolution here.
3.Friendliness
For Pokemon that evolve by happiness to evolve, they must be in your party for a total of three weeks of activity. They will gain 1 FP ((Friend Point)) for every day they remain in your party and you are active, which means posting a minimum of 5 times a day. Once they achieve 21 FP, they can evolve when they gain a level. This only applies to Pokemon who evolve by happiness so other Pokemon don't need to worry about FP. This method also has it's negative side effects, just like the games do. If a Pokemon that evolves by Happiness loses in Battle, their FP goes down by 2 points.
4.Certain Places
There are a handful of Poke'mon that will evolve when you level them up in a certain place. These are Eevee into Glaceon in Snowpoint City, Eevee into Leafeon in Eterna Forest, and Mangeton into Magnezone in Mt. Corenet.
5. Trading
An evolutionary method since the first generation, there a quite a few Poke'mon that need to be traded to evolve. Some need to hold items, most don't, however.
6.Certain attacks
Some Poke'mon will only evolve if they know a certain attack and then level up. These Poke'mon are:
Lickitung-Rollout
Tangel-Ancient Power
Aipom-Double Hit
Yanma-Ancient Power
Piloswine-Ancient Power
Bonsly-Mimic
Mime Jr.-Mimic
7. Having another Poke'mon in your party
There is only one Poke'mon that requires this and it is Mantyke. You must have a Remoraid in your party, then level up your Mantyke and it'll evolve. You will not lose your Remoraid.
8. Feebas
Feebas is different. You must have a Beauty Ribbon to evolve this Poke'mon. You may obtain it in Floaroma town by posting 30 times. Please note that you will have to start over if you leave Floaroma.
9. Nincada
Nincada is also a bit special. It can evolve into two different Poke'mon at once! However, you must have a spare slot in your party for its second evolution to appear.
Fishing
As a trainer, only certain poke'mon are obtainable in the water. Some by surfing, others by fishing, and even more while diving. The majority of water types are obtainable through fishing, however. To catch these poke'mon, you'll need fishing rods.
To acquire a fishing rod, you must defeat gym leaders. But you must beat them in the same region. To receive the Old Rod, you must defeat 2 consecutive gym leaders. To receive the Good Rod, you must defeat 4 consecutive gym leaders. To receive the Super Rod, you must defeat 6 gym leaders.
A note about the rods, you can have all 3 in your backpack. This is because each rod catches different poke'mon, and so, you'll need all 3 to complete the poke'dex.
So what poke'mon can these rods snare? It will vary region to region, rod to rod, but there's the same general rule with fishing as there is with catching landbred poke'mon. It will be done by dice roll.
NOTE: You may either fish or fight for a land poke'mon at any one time! You may not post 7 times and fish for a poke'mon and then in certain towns fight a poke'mon in the grass. You have to start over for another. If you need clarification, pm a mod.
There is a post in each of the "Welcome to ______!" threads that has each of the Poke'mon you may catch in the water of that particular region.
Legendaries
Legendaries are only available every 45 days. Currently they are released to the first person who manages to solve a riddle posted in the main portion of the forums, in the first post of the Legendaries thread. You also may only have 2 of them, unless you trade for them. Please note that to acquire a legendary you must have been the first to solve a riddle. And when you do win, you may not participate in the next couple of Legendaries. (2 Riddles)
Poke'dex
This subforum houses all the Poke'mon you have caught as well as all the TMs and HMs you have earned and your boxes. Please note, there are several ways to keep your Poke'dex, however, you MUST keep one. This is to keep track of your Poke'mon.
Boxes
Boxes house all the Poke'mon that you don't currently have in your party. Note that each box may only contain 20 Poke'mon at any given time.
Trains
There are trains connecting the various landmasses that make up the Poke'mon world. Though, not every city has them and they only lead to a certain place, so be careful when you take a train. You may have to take some weird routes to end up where you want to be. Trains for the most part are similar to the games, however, we have added a few of our own, in order to allow for trans-regional travel.
Breeding Center
This is how it works, you may drop off up to TWO Pokemon at a time. For everyday that you leave your Pokemon in the Day Care, it will gain a level. You may pull your Pokemon out at any time (no charge to get them out, we don't want to profit from this guild at all), however as long as it's in the Day Care you may NOT use it in battle.
If your two Pokemon are of opposite genders, and they happen to be in the same egg group, you may just get an egg exclaim
What will hatch from that egg? A level 1 baby Pokemon!
With proper breeding, you can hand raise a super team of Pokemon!
However, mother and son, father and daughter, and Pokemon of the same gender can't breed. For obvious reasons. Each egg will come with a number of bumps you must achieve before it hatches. Be sure to keep track of that. And like in the game, you must have an open slot to get the egg. If you choose to leave the egg at the Center, then anybody may pick it up (whether they know what it is or not!).
~You may only leave your Pokemon in the Day care for up to 4 consecutive days, after which you must wait 7 days to put it back in.
~For higher leveled Pokemon (lvl 40 and over) it will take 2 days for each level-up (just to be more fair).
~Eggs appear randomly when 2 pokemon are in the center. But don't get upset if you don't get an egg! Just try again! EDIT: Eggs are now available. If you are breeding a poke'mon with another and the pair does not contain Ditto, then roll one four sided dice. If you get a 3, then your poke'mon produce an egg. If you have a Ditto, then the chances double and you roll a four sided di and if it's a 1 or 3, you get an egg. This may be done once a day on the SECOND and THIRD days of your poke'mon's visit here. However, you may only get one egg per visit.
~You may leave your poke'mon in here for an unlimited number of days, but your poke'mon will only gain four levels at the maximum and only for the first four days. You will NOT gain levels after the first four days.
~Remember, like the games should your poke'mon learn a move while in the center, the first on your list will be deleted, unless that move's an HM and in that case, the first available move is deleted.
~If you receive an egg, please post who the parents are in the specified forum and the poke'mon that you'll be receiving.
~As of this moment, shiny poke'mon may be bred, but the eggs will NOT be shiny.
There are separate posts for the Egg Groups and the number of posts to hatch an egg. Please refer to them when needed.
Items
There is a separate thread for items and to keep this post from getting way too long I'll provide the link to that thread here: Items
Well, I hope I have covered all the information that I needed to. We have most of this information in other posts, but I figured it'd be much, much easier to have it in one post. We will keep this post updated as well as keep the "New Changes" thread updated so you know when something was updated. We hope this is far more convenient.
I. Guild Rules
1) You MUST follow the ToS. All rules in Gaia are enforced here. We don't want any trouble from the mods.
