It's a curious situation.
Indeed it is. I'd like to find out what everyone else thinks, and post my own opinion, as well.
I never thought about it. Best to leave anime secrets alone.
I don't really care. The boy-love was enough to keep me satisfied.

This is a discussion thread about the ending of Loveless.
Now.
There isn't one.
But there was somewhat of a prophecy-like thing going on.
What do you think all that meant?

Is Seimei actually alive?
Soubi himself confirmed that he couldn't live without him.
Or is he like Zero?
He can switch partners?
Was all this Seimei's doing?
Any guesses?

i think its all seime's doing! because at the end of the last episode i think he talks about how ritsuka will take his life. how he will go on w/ his future. it seems like seime is trying to like do something to ritsuka...but i dont really know! XD mrgreen

That's what I was thinking, too.
Seimei seems to be a mastermind behind all of it.
"The man behind the curtain."
I don't understand why, though.

I agree.
Seimei lives.
Otherwise, Soubi would surely perish.
It doesn't make sense, otherwise.

When I watched it, it didn't feel like it ended! It felt like it just began! I felt like I just saw a really long prologue and that the REAL story was about to start!... I dunno... Maybe I'm crazy...

"Seven Moons" is some kind of mafia or something, from what I can gather anime-only. Seimei's laying low, and trying to do an Extreme Existential Makeover on Ritsuka.
It would seem that spellmaking power came from the degree of devotion to something, often the Sacrifice, as in the case of many teams, especially Beloved.
"Seven Moons" have been making lots of experiments in team-making, notably the Zero series of teams.
What if there was a team that needed NO other to fight effectively? What if the pairing was directly from some other force beyond human?
That is the Loveless series, consisting of Ritsuka. As a part of the Loveless series, his Sacrifice is his logotherapeutic will to meaning, his identity.
Eh. The series WAS Nietche- and Frankl-inspired, I forget which epi had Yuiko asking about a book of Nietche's Ritsuka had.

Or maybe not. I'm really hopeing (And I mean REALLY hopeing) that the Loveless DvD's are not yet over. Adding to your conclusion Sodapoplove-san, there was also the Ohayo!!!, Loveless-kun!!.

At the end, Ritsuka got mad at Soubi because they were discussing who the mysterious figure behing the tree was *cough*Semei*cough* and Soubi said that the figure would be revealed in the Next episode;(or something close to that). Thats why Ritsuka was mad because there wasn't going to be another episode.

But, Soubi appered at the bottom of the screen at said 'Not quite....' (something like that) then Ritsuka gaasped saying 'You mean...' then Soubi repiled '....It depends on how much you support us'

So I think when Soubi said 'Support us.' he meant Ritsuka and Us, the fans of Loveless. Hopefully that means that as long as we supprot and send Yun Kouga our love, the anime known as Loveless is not yet over regardelss!!!

SO HAVE HOPE EVERYONE!!!!!!!!!!

Seimei is most likely alive in my opinion... Im guessing he plotted to look like he died, so Ritsuka would think that he was dead.

But the ending still seems incomplete!

The thing I really dont get is why Ritsuka was different from himself than before (or something like that) and why his mum goes psycho sometimes because she thinks Ritsuka isnt or doesnt act like her son(?)

Noted in anime and manga.
Rits apparently loses all of his memory and undergoes a distinct personality change at Seimei's death. Rits' mum, at the same time, undergoes a similar personality change. Basically, disfunction occurs upon Seimei's death.

I reckon Seimei is dead, but came back in spirit or something, thats why there has to be a second series, because stuff had changed, i cannot think how Seimei survived.

Ritsuka wacthed him burn as it shows in the dream, and from what lovableneko says the dream dident happen in the manga

so unless Seimei is a ninja he's dead.

EDIT: that and he did appear out of nowhere in the anime aswell, i dident notice at first but he came into Ritsuka's room like a spirit did.

i agree, people give up to easily, i mean wtf its only been over a year since the anime came out and already they given up.

and then they will burn it onto disks and really give the chances of loveless slim X_X its like one of thoses things, they think something happend cause of a reason, then they find out later on that it happend, but only because of a different reason

for example, in kaikan phrase i thought the main character as gonna get off with that boys twin sister, i saw him start to fall for her and stopped watching it.

then i later find out that he did date a girl, but that girl was anouther person.

so yea... i think thats what will happen.. ppl will think there be no second series of loveless for giving up, and then find out that the giving up CAUSED the actual series not to be made.

I mean, can Seimei lose a battle bonded and burning on a chair, as the sum end effect of his opponent's spells?
Spell battles happen and often, the loser is left drained, but not dead.

i don't think that ritsuka actually saw seimei burn, that was just in the dream, earlier it just says that they found his body (not sure if that's just in the manga or if it's in the anime too, i can't remember). but i think seimei is actually alive: ok, so i i'm pretty sure he is. i've read it a couple places that he faked his own death (they only identified the body through dentel records i think) and he's behind alot of stuff going on.
and that part where he's in ritsuka's room, wasn't he outside first and put that smoke thingy on the windowsill? i just assumed he snuck in really quietly...
