I Want to Hold You Close, Skin Pressed Against Me Tight... What's up peeps? How ya'll doin? Well basically this thread is for music from California, and concerts going on in California and other music related stuff. Post your favorite band, and concerts that you are attending or any that are happening soon.
Right now, one of my new favorite bands are from California, She Wants Revenge, anyone heard of them? Anyways, I saw them last month at the Grove in Anaheim and they were awesome. Last night I went to the NIN concert in Irvine. Did anyone else go? And in two weeks I'm going to go see Velvet Revolver at the Pacific Ampitheatre as part of the OC Fair series of concerts. Is anyone else going to see them, or going to be around in that area?

California music...
... Anyone heard of Human Drama or Bleed? Just curious...
My favorite? Jackson Browne. ^^
Should probably mention this, though -- At the Santa Monica Pier every Thursday night throughout the summer, they have free concerts. The one coming up is d**k Dale, a surf guitarist... I'll be there! ^_~

Let's see... off the top of my head, some bands native to California --
Sublime No Doubt Red Hot Chili Peppers Louis XIV The Beach Boys (no brainer much, ne?) Tsar Beck The Brian Jonestown Massacre Fishbone Slightly Stoopid
A lot of those might be a little obscure, and of course The Beach Boys, Sublime and No Doubt are no longer, but they're all worth hearing. ^^

sky mentioned some good ones
Louis XIV is great (formerly went by Convoy) - I saw them in concert, flew back from Aussie just to play before the home town crowd in SD.
Unwritten Law - better back before they kicked out the drummer/founder and sold out, but also from SD
Rufio - they were my 1st concert (and I'm 22 now) still havent hit it big as fas as I know but I think all you pop punk scene kids would even like these guys.
Fenix TX - good old(er) school punk
anyone wanna throw out some punk bands you think are ready to make a lil bit of a splash in the SoCal scene? And real punk bands - nothing against Panic! but thats for MTV.

Green Day most likely. Yes, I know there are Green Day haters out there stare Just because you don't like 'em doesn't mean I shouldn't. It's not like I'm choosing the next president, after all.

And real punk bands - nothing against Panic! but thats for MTV. Panic! isn't punk, no way. And I'd venture to call FenixTX pop-punk. When they were Riverfenix, they were more punky. California bands (either a majority of their members from or they got their start in California: Incubus--from my area Hoobustank--ditto Linkin Park--ditto Save Ferris (OC) Reel Big Fish (OC) No Doubt (OC) Suburban Legends (OC) Sublime (OC) Jeffries Fan Club (OC) The Forces of Evil (OC) The Aquabats! Blink-182 Green Day Bad Religion Cake Tonic The Offspring Lit Eve 6 Sugar Ray The Wallflowers Phantom Planet Third Eye Blind Tool Flogging Molly Atreyu Rufio Rage Against the Machine Deftones Unwritten Law Tsunami Bomb Goldfinger Social Distortion Rancid Operation Ivy Sugarcult Buck-O-Nine NOFX No Use For A Name The Donnas RxBandits Halifax Nathaniel's Endeavors (a band I promoted) Classic: The Dave Brubeck Quartet The Eagles The Beach Boys Sly and the Family Stone The Monkeys L7 Descendents Journey Tower of Power Speaking of first concerts, mine was Gloria Estefan (I was like 7), more legitimately Beastie Boys (at 13), but my first show was RxBandits, Midtown, and A New Found Glory at the Cobalt. --ashleyatusc

Swoop G Dont tell me none of ya have heard of Eazy E, Tupac, Coolio Or even NWA! Of course I have. I will always love Tupac. I listened to Eazy E and NWA, but I have always preferred Run-DMC. And I remember when Coolio was cool.
